Deep red is fire.

Burning and blazing, we call it passion and let it lead our lives.

We give it its kindling and allow it to burn out of control.

We want it to stop, but we desire it to go.

With blue, we calm the insanity.

It flows into us, releasing the stress we build.

Peace is necessary to keep the mind in check,

But too much will have us drown,

In the sadness that we have buried in ourselves.

Yellow counteracts the sadness.

It shines a light that pierces the gloom,

And liberates us from our problems.

Without the light, our worlds would be too dark to mention,

And too cold to touch.

But never forget,

That even the brightest of lights is made of fire.

Delightful free-verse poem, with an interesting cycle through primary emotions; from passion to calmness, from depression to hope. Word choices are direct enough to get across the message, although the rhythm doesn't flow extremely neatly. Then again, neither does the mind. 4/5 stars.
