The Winter Princess

Even though the trees have nothing to hide,

they’re all still inundated in dreams made of ice.

Though my face is still smooth with summer’s caress,

Time carries on and brings with it nothing but death.

Though the winds aren’t as sharp or deadly as could be,

They still cut deep into the dreams of a young queen.

Bridges that once stood the gap between time and I

are now fallen into dead seas, guarded by night.

I know that, even though my dreams are precious to me,

They are cold an alone in a dark, frozen sea,

where the you that you are fights the you that must be,

where the water reflects not your face, but your soul

I’m a place where hopes freeze into memories,

Where the deep winds scatter all but fear and despair...

A place I have known since I was a little girl,

Living in a castle at the roof of the world.

I’ll remember my time inside that keep,

where, if there was a smile, it did not come from me,

I’ll remember my time traversing that cold sea…

…and I’ll go back if it means rescuing my dreams.

This was great! I really liked the line "are now fallen into dead seas, guarded by night." I'll be looking forward to your future poems!
