Monster

As the pain rises in my chest,

I hold it in and try my best,

I want to cry,

My eyes are dry.

As I try to swallow,

I smile so hollow,

My fears are here,

They’re always near.

As my body stings,

I over-think things,

The night creeps in,

My sanity grows thin.

As people float about their day,

I crash about in every way,

My ache they don’t feel,

Behind the mask they don’t peel.

As they stand and fear the world,

I just lie there stiff and curled,

My fears they don’t see,

I have a monster inside of me.

Powerful. Honest. Blunt and brutally sarcastic. Don't really need to say anything else.

    A very nice mini-memoir by RT13. A quick read.
