Quick Idea

Just came up with an idea for a story. I'm probably not going to use it, so feel free to use it as a prompt/inspiration. A young gambling addict enters a dusty old shop one morning in hopes of selling some of his grandmother's things for some quick cash. Upon learning that the store owner (who turns out to be/works for the devil) can offer him an eternal cash supply, he quickly signs away his soul. In return, he recieves a nickel and a dime. He is told that by rubbing the faces of both coins simultaneously, they replicate themselves. Delighted, the man runs out and never gives another thought to the dusty little shop. Little did he know that after seven years he would have to return every last coin he made, or pay the penalty of serving the devil 7 years for every coin. He would be a servant of the devil and not die until his time was paid off. Now the young man must race against time to collect all of the coins as well as defeat him addiction. Feel free to change it up and use how you please. I figured an idea as awesome as this should be shared. I might use it, but you can too. Every writer has a different take, so why not. (Please comment if you used it/plan on using it. Thanks!)

  • Hey, that sounds like a really cool idea to write/read. I might try and use it except the main character loses the coins (probably while gambling or something and mixes up the 'demon coins' and regular coins), but since he's the one under contract, he still has to pay the fine even if someone else is using the coins. So, he has to find the person that has his 'demon coins' while his contractor is constantly annoying him and causing trouble.
Thanks for the inspiration, I definitely want to try and explore this idea :D

  • Will do. It'll probably be a while though, because i'm working on my other story.

  • I thought about that, actually. Of course, there are so many different ways a story could end.

  • Do you mean how do you come up with one? Well, I got this one from a song I was listening to. One of the lines was "selling my soul for a nickel and dime." The line got stuck in my head, so I evolved it into a story line. You just have to keep your eyes open to everything and let it inspire you. (Try looking at pictures on Pinterest or Google or something. There's entire worlds you can get out of just a picture of city lights or scenery.)
