Reason behind the name change
Do not adjust your dials! Yes, this is still me Petra, or as many of you have known me for the last seven years, Black Rose of Chaos or for those who been around on some of my oldest profiles, Twilight Smash. Yes, I’m finally updating my profile(s), after who knows how long and with a new name!
I’m going to try (emphasis on try) to keep this on point. The decision on changing my username after so long, is just because I’m not the same person from when I first came up with the penname Black Rose of Chaos. When I first started writing my own stories, I wanted a name that was separate from original, fanfiction handle, Twilight Smash (which I still use on fanfiction.net) because I wanted those to be two separate entities and at the time, BRoC felt the perfect handle to use because it can have so many different meanings and I also pay homage to one of my favorite characters from YuGiOh 5Ds, which was ending around the time I thought of the name. Little did I know how much this name would come to mean to me.
As much as I hate changing it, it felt like at this stage in my life, where I want to take my writing to a more professional level and (hopefully) onto publishing, I needed a name that reflects that change. At first, I was planning on deleting these old accounts and starting brand new ones, which I did make. But, when it came time to delete these accounts and all my work from the past five to eight years, I couldn’t do it and I realized why.
This wasn’t the first time I’ve reached this impasse. I’ve been in this same spot before, when I was moving on from fanfictions to my own, original writing. I thought about deleting my fanfiction account, but I couldn’t do it and it’s because, no matter what, those stories and one-shots are all a part of me. It shows my growth from when I was only doing this as a hobby to where I was at that point. It felt like an insult to the readers who cared for those fics and an insult to who I was when I wrote them. And deleting these accounts would feel like the same insult.
So, instead, I decided to just rebrand these accounts. I don’t want to hide away the growth I’ve had in all these years and I want these accounts to still be here, to reflect my past and present selves and so, if I reach another impasse in the next several years, I can come back to the stories and the comments on here and remember this awesome journey.

I know I rambled a lot (it’s a bad habit I have in IRL too), but I just wanted to get it out there, just in case you all were wondering.
