I see you standing near,
But I you do not see.
The words you say, I clearly hear,
But you get no response from me.

It's been a while
That it's been this way...
Remember the saddened smiles
That were on that day?

If you do, please do forget.
I know you do not understand.
Deep down, deep down I do regret
What happened at my hand.

It doesn't feel as if it's fair,
But this was what was right.
But do not travel to where
I put out my own light.

I don't want you to remember
Those horrible things—
The life I did dismember
And sad songs that I used to sing...

I lie in darkness, sound asleep
But I hear you talk.
I have stories I must now always keep...
And you must learn to turn and walk.
