Story Idea. need help
So I have this story concept in progress: when someone dies, their soul "burns out", but sometimes the soul leaves residue called "Haze." Haze slowly transforms the deceased into an unliving monster (not always zombies, but that does happen most commonly.) Those with the ability of "Kinesis" have the upperhand at destroying these monsters, and attend a school that teaches them how to control their abilities. The subplot revolves around a serial slasher (who is secretly a "Dullahan") that collects the souls of her victims for some purpose, but I can't decide on her ultimate goal in doing this. The best I can come up with is she's trying to revive the ultimate monster with the souls she collects, and have it turn all the living to its servants. Does this sound good, or does it need a little more work?

Now that I think about it, the "subplot" thing should really be the plot itself.

Hello, and sorry for the late reply. That sounds like a very fascinating idea, and I'll have to read the story when you start writing it. Before I say that your plot sounds good, I do have a few questions. Is the dullahan protagonist or antagonist? Does she have kinesis? When you say that she collects souls, so you mean haze or do they do different things? When haze transforms corpses into monsters, does it vanish, get absorbed into the monster, what happens to it? How is it collected? And who are the other characters? Sorry if some of these questions are irrelevant or strange, I would like to get a good grasp of the concept you have, if you're still looking for help.

this is what I have so far, though I don't know if it'll be permanent:
-The Dullahan is antagonist
-She has Umbrakinesis (control over darkness)
-She collects the soul itself, allowing any potential haze to activate in the victim and take over.
-Though I haven't thought on what happens with the haze when the deceased transforms, I have thought of it as residual. I originally thought it to stay with the monster as long as it stays alive, but having it absorbed into the monster when it transforms also makes sense to me now that I think about it.
-Haze can't be collected. However, whenever one dies, the soul can be collected by using an advanced spell called the "Lebensentzug" (German for "Life Leech)
-Unfortunately I haven't solidly decided on characters yet, save the Dullahan and the teacher of the monster hunting class.

Sounds like you have a good idea of what you want to write about so far. I think it's a cool plot. Are you happy with it?

yeah for the most part. I think I'll save this for a time that I'm actually comfortable writing real well.

You have a good story idea. The sub plot sounds interesting however I was wondering if the Dullanhan is going to be the one from Irish Myth or your own version(like the one in an anime called Durarara!!!)?
