"Ugh! Do we have to go meet your sister and her family again?" James complained and thought: I don't want to meet the people who kicked out my Mom and almost beat her to death just because she wanted to explore more magic. And just because the most twisted creature escaped and my family is powerful enough to kill him we have to take care of him!

"Yes we have to. The Elders sent us this task and we can't disobey their orders." Rose (James's Mom) said with a smile on her face, even though she's really pissed about it as well. Of course she's happy to come back home and see everyone again after a decade or so. James's Dad, Chris saw his wife smile and dramatically said "Rose did you just smile?! What are you two talking about? Your Mom hasn't smiled since you turned 8 years old!"

"Nothing just talking about visiting our cousins. We leave tomorrow right?" James asked his parents and they both answered "Yes." Then James left the room.

With that decided the whole Dark Side is going, since Rose is the oldest and the first one to disobey the rules in the Knight side. After she did that everyone who didn't want to follow the stupid rules turned to the Dark Side. People from the Dark Side isn't really evil they just didn't want to follow the rules that states they can't practice other magic or experiment with it. Since they wanted more powerful spells, people from the Good Side who followed the rules shut them out as if they didn't exist or bullied them enough that they could die. So Rose happily accepted people who are open to the idea of discovering new things, happy for who they are, and for people who aren't afraid to break the rules to do what they have to.

On the good side of the family~

"I'm so worried about seeing my sister tomorrow, no one ever thought she would go and create a bad side! She was so nice, I wonder what happened to her?" Melissa said.

"Well...I'm only going to tell you one thing and that is watch out because Dad is a mortal and Aunt Rose can hurt him. And based on Aunt Rose she can do that because she you shunned her out and the fact that she hates you," Mage said with no fear of Rose because she get's along with her. Mage loves to see all the experiments and read the magic books and potion recipe.

The Next Day~

*DING DONG DING DONG* the bell rang for the 5th time. Mage came to open the gate and as she opened it she said "OKAY! We got it your here you don't need to ring the bell a 100 times!"

Then she saw James who had been her enemy since they were kids, gave her the look of disgust. They got along in a way because Mage wasn't afraid of being killed by him, her Mom gave her a charm that protects her from magic. Mage never really like James but her sister Anna thinks differently, she totally thinks James is cute. So the family entered the house and it has been 30 minutes since everyone came but…. there was an awkward atmosphere. On each side was the good and bad side. Melissa (Rose's little sister, also Mage's Mom) said "Okay, we are here today because we need to think of a way to stop the Void. So does anyone have any ideas?"

Before anyone else could say something, someone already yelled.

"I've got an idea! Why don't we release the master of the Void? Or should I say the master of everything that is bad?" Rose suggested and everyone from Melissa's side gasped at the idea of releasing the end of everything.

Ruby (one of the cousins) yelled "No! we cannot do that. When we wake him up we can't put him back to sleep! He is powerful than any of us are combined and he also created everything that is evil, that is not a good sign!"

"True, but there is a way to put him back to sleep…." James said with a nasty look on his face that showed Mage the Dark Side has a plan. Everyone went to the meeting room and finally sat around the table and Melissa took a deep breath and said "Tell us how you can make sure that he can go back to his cage?"

Rose clapped her hands twice as she heard her sister finally say those words and she explained them "Okay! The only way he can go back is if one person can receive this special power; it's where you can do anything you desire, that person would have to be strong, and when that person received that gift it means that person is the only one who can stop him for go-"

Rose was cut off when someone yelled "that is not a special power that is a curse! Having that much power is a big mistake! People like them were killed a long time ago for a good reason. So they do not exist!"

"I know but no one ever said that you can't receive them….and the only reason they were killed is because they wanted to discover new things about their gift!" Rose pointed out to them.

"Well how can you or someone else receive that gift?" Anna asked.

"That's easy people from the good side and the dark side must get a mortal and do a ritual and see if they will get the gift," Chris explained.

Then Rose asked "So are we going to wake him up or not?" Then everyone looked at each other and managed to say "Yes."

That Night~

"Alright let me do this little sister. I'm better" Rose mocked Melissa as she prepared all the potion and herbs for the spell and made everyone leave the room. After an hour Rose came out and announced "I did the spell already…but we have to wait, and I don't know how long it will take."

After doing the spell Rose was tired; everyone talked amongst each other. Until 30 minutes later the clouds turned black, lightning came, a dark smoke came around the Knight residence, everyone from the good side panicked and hid away like they always do when someone more powerful came. But people from the Dark Side went out and saw that the Black Smoke killed all the plants and dead crows fell from the sky, thousands of them were falling, some of the birds chest were open and it seems that the heart was taken. A crow's heart is only taken for one reason, it is needed for the darkest spell that only one person could ever do. That one person named Jack Reaper.

All of what they saw wasn't a good sign, so everyone went inside and started working. After 8 hours they finally stopped when every mortal didn't receive the gift.

"It seems like it's no one in our family. What a shame" Rose shrugged as if it was nothing to her.

Melissa who rarely gets mad, finally yelled at her sister, "You knew this would happen didn't you?!"

"I don't what you're talking about sis. It's not my fault that people from your side fell in love and married a bunch of pathetic mortals who can't even receive the gift. They're not worthy of receiving the power! So do not blame me for what happened. I suggested an idea and all of you were on board with it. Don't blame it all on me!" Rose answered back and both sisters looked at each other.

Melissa was turning red and said "You know what I might be from the good side but there was never a rule that say's I can't fight my evil sister for tricking us into setting the evil one free!"

Suddenly, she threw a fireball at Rose.

Rose gasped and teased "My, my, it seems like my little sister has finally gathered the courage to fight me!"

Everyone took a step back and didn't even try to stop, those two were the powerful one in the family since their parents died; if they try to interfere they would get blown to pieces.

Outside the house~

On top of the hill was a gazebo and 3 teenagers were waiting for the rain to stop. "Ahhh….it's still raining…" Clarissa sighed and her twin brother Cole complained "It's not fair that we can't pick a mortal to try out our powers on just because were 15 years old!"

"You have to be at least 17 years old morons, but I still couldn't try because you two were the only ones left and 15 years old" Edward said annoyed. The three of them were sitting quietly until Mage came soaking wet. She also heard what they were complaining about.

"At least you have powers that makes everyone accept you. I don't have any powers and they didn't even let me try to see if I could get the gift just because I'm 15 but of course, I have an idea. I also want to try and get the gift!" Mage smiled. The twins said "okay...well lets hear your idea?"

"Great! Okay first of all you two twins are from the good side. Everyone keeps using only one person from the good side and the dark side to see if it would work, but the three of you can try your powers on me, the mortal; I think it would work because it would be more powerful" Mage told them her plan, at first the other's thought it was crazy for her and the twins to go against the rule of the Knight family. Mage told them that it didn't matter because she can get them out of trouble. Edward, Mage, Clarissa, and Cole looked at each other and the twins said, "Well this is going against the rule but... WE WANT TO TRY IT AS WELL!"

Since the two answered and Mage already of course wanted to do it looked at Edward with wide eyes open and asked him," Well?! Do you want to try it or not?! Don't leave us hanging!"

Before Edward could even answer, they heard a loud *thump* on the gazebo roof.

2: Chapter two: A secret?

HIIIIIIIII I wanted to write this for the readers who get confused about the story because I'm still figuring out how to explain all the story details in a way that all of you can understand for reading and the story is suppose to be confusing in a way. This family has a lot of problems and secrets that even they don't know about. Oh by the way Deb is a waaaaaaay better writer than me, maybe that's why my story is also confusing. Hehehe sorry. Okay I'll start the story bye bye.

When the twins, Edward, and Mage heard a thump, they waited to see if it would come down or whether it was just something that hit the roof, but it did come down and it was a girl. They looked at her strangely and then she looked at them with her cold gold eyes, her long black hair was soaking wet, and her skin was so pale that she looked like a ghost. she asked them,

"May I help you…" Her voice was different from human or paranormal, her voice was so calm and quiet enough for everyone to hear. It stood out in a way they couldn't explain. The twins pushed Mage and whispered, "Go talk to her…."

Mage gave them a look that said why me?! But she still said "Hi I'm Mage and th-"

Mage didn't finish her sentence because the girl said "I know who you guys are. The tall one is Edward he's 17 and those two are the twins, Clarissa and Cole; they're 15 years old and...Your Mage, daughter of Melissa and you're also 15 years old."

They were still looking at her wondering who she was. They never saw her from the good or bad side, and they thought how did she enter the forcefield, it kills anyone who isn't a Knight. Did that mean she was one of them? Or was it just luck that she was able to enter the land. That seemed impossible so how was she able to enter….While they were in their thoughts the girl said, "You know it's rude to stare…"

That made them snap out of their thoughts and Clarissa said, "Sorry we were just wondering about a lot of things."

"Like?" She asked and Clarissa answered "Well like your name? How did you get in here? Who's your parents? What family are you from? What's your power? Just normal basic questions you would ask someone you don't know."

The girl was quiet for a while; then she put her hand on her chest, bowed down a little and introduced herself:

"My name is Esther Knight and I was able to get in because this is my family, My mother is Melissa Knight and my father is well Jack Reaper."

When Esther said that her mother was Melissa Knight the 4 kids were already worried but the main problem was when she said that her father was Jack Reaper they weren't worried or happy, they were terrified after all Jack Reaper was the one Rose released. Esther smiled at them with the smile of the devil, she turned around and as she started walking the grass she stepped on started dying. When she was gone all 4 of them panicked and started running toward the house yelling "TROUBLE IS COMING!"

Everyone looked at them and Melissa and Rose stopped burning the room and asked, "What are you talking about?!"

Then the kids were talking at the same time that they sounded like working bees until Rose yelled "ONE AT A TIME KIDS!"

Then Mage explained so fast that she had to repeat it again slowly this time, she took a deep breath and said, "Well there's a girl and she said that her name is Esther Knight and her mom is my mom...plus her father is Jack Reaper."

Again when she said the name Jack Reacher, they had the same reaction that the kids had this time EVERYONE turned pale, they were all petrified and Rose's voice cracked as she said "That is ridiculous! Stop lying Mage, it's not a good habit besides Mel can never get him!"

"She's not lying! We all saw her and she...she did say that her father was Jack Reaper and there's only one Jack Reaper." Cole helped Mage prove that she wasn't lying.

With that said everyone looked at Melissa after all Esther said that she was her Mother. So Melissa said, "Well I don't know how to explain it to you guys but...I went outside of the property and when me and my husband had this big fight, so I did that with a man, I don't who it was but it only happened once 15 years ago and I know for sure I wasn't pregnant, I didn't carry a child so I don't know how it's possible for me to have another kid?"

Then James said "We have to find that girl, she's the only one who can give us answers."

Everyone agreed to that plan. They took their raincoats and umbrellas and went out. They all went in groups of 4. The twins, Anna, and Mage went together. James and Edward decided to go together, James asked, "So she said that her father was Jack Reaper?"

"Yeah."

James wondered how that was possible, Jack Reaper hates women. As they walked and walked the two boys got tired and James said, "Well that was a waste of time."

"Or not...Look," Edward said and pointed at the middle of the lake and they saw a girl standing at the center of the lake, that one spot was frozen. "That's her! That's Esther!" Edward yelled quietly and James looked and whispered "Should we talk to her now?"

"I don't know!" Edward still said in a low voice and then they looked at her thinking, then they looked at each other for a second. When they looked back again to Esther she was gone.

"Didn't I tell you it was rude to stare," Esther said from behind them and the boys jumped and screamed "AHHH!" The two of them got near the lake (not on purpose) and then Esther pushed them in the water, when the boys finally came out from under the water Esther mumbled "You two are stupid…"

Then she walked towards the boat, as she stepped on water it turned ice and the two looked at her and Esther said "You people are rude. You stare too much. My father told me to never stare too much at one person." Then the two came out of the water and said "Actually can you come with us? Our family wants to talk to you about something important?" They waited for an answer but Esther tilted her head a bit and said, "Sure when Jack Reaper comes and that will be in an hour." Then their eyes widened and started to run back home like morons and yelled at the same time "JACK REAPER IS COMING IN AN HOUR!"

Everyone was at the house again and Rose and Melissa said irritated as terror spreads throughout their bones "What are you talking about now?!"

"The girl said that she'll talk to us when Jack Reaper comes and that's in an hour!" Edward and James yelled. Then everyone sat down and Rose yelled at Melissa "Why didn't you tell us you had a kid with Jack Reaper?!"

"If I knew I wouldn't keep it a secret! I would have asked for help to kill that girl!" Melissa yelled back. They were bickering again that Mage turned red and slammed her hand on the table and yelled "Enough! Would you two start acting like adults and think about everyone else besides you two! You guys are the top head of this family. So stop acting like childrens!"

Then everyone was quiet and looked at Rose and Mel. Then Melissa said "You're right I'm sorry honey."

After Melissa, Rose said, "Yeah sorry. We have to think of a plan to trap him. Does anyone have any ideas?" Everyone was shocked that Rose is asking for help, usually she has all the plans but this time she's asking for help, which meant that they were desperate. The rain had stopped and no one had an idea on how to capture Jack Reaper they looked in books about him and everywhere else but it didn't tell them his weakness so they had to wait and prepare for what could happen.

After an hour~

When they waited, rain came down again and 3 strikes of lightning came. There was a knock on the door and someone came in. It was Jack Reaper himself and everyone stood up and they were ready to attack him but Jack said, "That's not a good way to welcome family. We are family after all." And then he pouted at them.

Melissa and Rose both yelled at the same time "No your not!" Then they both used their power on him, everyone knew they were powerful but are they powerful enough to hurt Jack? When the blow was over everyone looked at Jack.

He didn't even get scratched, not even one bit! What they saw was the girl called Esther protecting Jack Reaper. Her skin was so pale, her eyes were red, and her hair was white, but once she stopped using her power her black hair, gold eyes, and skin color went back. Everyone looked at both of them and Jack said in a child-like way, "These people are rude. They stare at you."

James blinked two times and thought: I guess he's really the dad.

Then Jack's expression changed, it matured and he said "She's our daughter by blood Melissa but I own her. So I'm still going to help you get rid of the void, just for the fun of it. Of course I'M not going to help you. Esther is, so good bye."

No one else could talk to him but before he left, he told Esther, "Be good and don't mess up." He patted her on the head and she bowed and said "Yes Master."

He smiled, stepped outside and then he was gone, and the rain stopped as well.
