The world is strange, the way it always snows on the second and third Monday of each month, or how it rains without fail on every Friday; it’s strange that every set of parents can only bring one child to full term and that all siblings are therefore related only through one parent. It’s strange, and it’s usual. It’s usual for the shadows of children to change form and help them develop character and personality –identity –and it’s usual for these shadows to be subdued by the time the child is twelve. If not reeducation by Aflocalt and the SSF is a common form of punishment. But as unusual -or perhaps usual -as the world may seem, it is always changing, and there are rumors of children refusing to subdue their shadows, instead joining a group of rogues that seems intent of destroying the delicate balance the people have managed to make with the largest drug company in thw world and the Secret Service Force that rule more.
