Three young children have just been offered the chance of a lifetime; to leave their tiny village behind and become characters in three separate novels. Three mystical writers known as the word doctors have promised them fame and fortune in exchange for the right to document their lives as they enter a realm of fairytales and magic. All three of them depart from the fictional village of Hamish on the same night, bound for three separate kingdoms. Jezebel arrives in Baylor first, brought by word doctor Mayberry with the promise that she will soon be discovering several other stories already in progress. Word doctor Ambrose practically tosses Cassandra head over heels into the kingdom of Ferery where she will begin her story as a slave in a dungeon. Finally, word Doctor Hemlock has abandoned young Jameson in the middle of the jungle amongst a tribe of savages. With no one to rely on but themselves, will the three brave children even survive long enough to see their names set in stone?
