Blue eyes sparkled, gazing up dreamily at the sky above.
A soft sigh escaped her mouth, her eyes not quite closing. She couldn't look away. Not when it might be the last time she'll see that many star sprinkle the endless night.
Her mind wandered; of possibilities that she could actually spread her wings, letting the gentle wind sweep her away, not caring where it took her.
But she could not.
Blue eyes watered; but she forced it back. No, she was not about to brood. Not when the stars were winking at her, inviting her to come play with them.
She was not about to waste her only chance of having peace.
Sweet, steady rhythm lulled her, nudging her to rest; it had been a long day for her anyway. Rest, my dear, it whispered, never again shall you feel pain; never again witness the violence...Without any resistance she complied, allowing the melody to carry her to sleep. She was simply tired.
Perhaps, she could never feel the rush of wind on her face no longer...but,
She can at least imagine, right?
With that final thought, she finally closed her eyes. The last thing she saw was the twinkle of starlight and two large dark wings enveloping her.
Rest in peace...and may thy wings carry thou to the far reaches of this universe...
