Chapter One: Arrival

"Yes Carter, I'm fine. Y-yes I got here perfectly fine! Oh I think I see my luggage, alright gotta go see ya bye!" Exasperated and out of breath I quickly tapped the end key, cutting my brother off. And as expected my phone vibrated two sharp beats.

'Before you oh so kindly cut me off I was going to say have fun and say hi to Aunt Terra for me! And please for the love of god make sure not to cause or get in any trouble until you get home.'

'Ha. Ha. I'll keep you updated. Love you.'

Normally I would've responded to my brother with a witty comment or brought up how he wanted me to say hi to his childhood crush, Marilyn everytime I came over to Aunt Terra's house, but as of right now lying to him more about where I am would only make me feel bad.

Well it's not like I'm completely lying to him...I guess I'm just not comfortable fully telling him the truth. Of course I did see my luggage and was rushing to grab it, but the adrenaline in my body was what wanted me to get off the phone. Every nerve in my body was excited to run out the airport doors and embark on this journey - well for the time being.

Life just has been too fast in the past few months and I haven't had much time to do stuff I've wanted to do or just have fun in simple activities like I used to. It just seems like every other day has to deal with an event I've got to go to, whether it's a dinner, an exclusive party, a photoshoot, or any type of appearance.

Carter, however, loves living the luxury high end life of status and glory but that's never really been me.

Luckily I found Heather. After the odd encounter we had while shopping, I had the idea then and decided to discuss it with her. Although she would need a makeover and some time to prep and teach her about me, she seemed to be ecstatic to swap identities for it. She was just the kind of low key profile I needed to take a break from my life. And I couldn't have been happier. Intuitively I could tell she was the shy, smart, and innocent type who would be afraid to even hurt a fly, so I wasn't worried at all about her starting any trouble. And after spending a week with her - to be sure - I was content with letting her full in.

As I tucked my phone in the front pocket of my shorts, I felt a need for coffee sweep over me. Nearing the little cafe, I turned to get some cash out of my handbag while still walking. Fumbling through my stuff I tried looking for my wallet but I felt a tug at the bottom of my feet and before I knew it, my untied shoelace caused me to fall. An unsettling feeling of fear rushed through me as I expected the pain of falling face forward to hit me, but it didn't.

Instead a low grunt sounded and I could feel a rise and fall from a warm chest under me. I faced a pair of dark teal eyes and had to stop myself from gasping. They were absolutely gorgeous and filled with so much confusion.

It took me a moment to realize what I was doing before I promptly jumped up, flushed with embarrassment.

"I-I'm so sorry! I didn't quite see you there! I didn't mean to- are you ok?!" As I tried to put my thoughts together I extended my hand to help.

But again I had to restrain from gasping because the man standing infront of me didn't just have gorgeous eyes. Oh no now that I could see him, he was absolutely flawless! Even under his tailored suit I could see his incredible physique, which by the way had to be over six feet. His jaw was chiseled and surrounded by freshly cut smooth skin. His lips were full and the nicest shade of pink that I'd ever seen! Not only that but he had a slight resonance of vanilla exuding from him.

But as quickly as I had immersed into my thoughts, I had snapped out of them when an electric bolt buzzed up my hand slowly stinging it and my arm swung to the side of me. Confused I looked into those teal eyes again as they rose, no longer filled with confusion but a dark and cold expression.

As he stood before me, his eyes slowly trailed up my body never looking at my face before he spoke, "For someone to be wearing such expensive clothes, you would expect them to have been raised with a bit more class."

As he scoffed, I felt my face flush and feel completely mortified. A smirk settled on his face and still without looking up at me he turned his back and began to head towards the exit.

Where the-

What the-

Who the heck does he think he is?!

No missed call. No unread text. It's been well over an hour since I've landed and Heather should've been in New York for a while.

Undoubtedly her six hour flight was shorter than my thirteen hour flight to Heathrow Airport.

Perhaps she's busy talking to our hotel's staff or still settling in but I told her to update me near six o'clock.

Now usually I'm not this clingy to people but once I'm assured that she's met Aunt Terra and nobody has expected anything, only then will I be able to stop worrying.

Sighing I pulled my wallet out again. I looked at the license in it, the one I replaced with Heather's, and only could help to wonder how similar her and I look. If she hadn't already showed me who her parents were, I would've sworn that she was my long lost twin. From the wispy blonde hair, to the dark brown eyes, to the slight dimple on our left cheek that we both share, it would be hard for anyone to tell us apart. The only difference that I was able to visibly see was that I had a beauty mark on the bottom of my right jaw that Heather didn't. But with some marker, only we would be able to identify who was who.

Waiting another moment I decided to call her myself.

"Hello?" There was a faint sound of an English accent. Her voice quietly pierced through the phone. It sounded as if she had just woken up, but relief coursed through me.

"Hey! Uh- is now an okay time to talk? you didn't call so I've been worried."

"Oh I'm so sorry Alexia, I dozed off and forgot to call you. Everyone here has been so kind and Victor had brought in this spectacular velvet red dress for some Vertigo Festival -"

"Vertigi Festival" I interrupted.

"Oh right! Sorry but it's so beautiful and -"

"Hey Heather? That sounds great and I'm happy you're enjoying yourself but have you met my aunt yet?"

"Hm? Ohh yeah! Right I forgot about her! Yes I did, she's such a kind lady. She really missed you and plans to go shopping tomorrow. Doesn't that sound like fun?"

A little chuckle arose from me. Hearing the way Heather talks is like listening to a little child's first day of school. It was so animated and enthusiastic and you could only help but smile at how innocent she was.

"Yeah it sounds wonderful! Uh but Heather I need your help.." Having been raised in Los Angeles, I had more than enough friends who were interested in film making, production, and acting. I would assist them with their roles and scripts when they needed it and managed to practice my English accent quite a lot. Although I was confident in it, I was still nervous that someone might point out a flaw.

But Heather said that it sounded as if I was born in England.

Before hanging up I once again asked for the address of her work and settled down in my suites bed.

She told me all I needed to know was that it was called The Ellister Manor.

Ellister. Ellister...Why does that name ring a bell?
