The Last Vampire

I ran through the thick foliage till I reached the graveyard. The sacred graveyard where
my ancestors were  buried. It was such a fitting scene to come upon at such a time .I
looked around, searching for my prey. There she was crouching in the shadows of the
gravestones, cringing away from the light, like a creature of the dark. That was to be
expected though, she was a vampire after all . I slowly advanced on her, readying my bow
and arrow as I went.

I was careful to be silent lest she notice me .This battle would end
with her death, not mine. After so many years of searching for her, I had finally found
her, right here, in my backyard. I couldn't let this opportunity slip away from me.
I can never forget what she did to my sister, my only sister .She had murdered her.
Killed her in cold blood, before she fell upon her to devour her flesh and drink her
blood .She did not deserve the kind of end she had received .It was all because of her that
my sister had the worst birthday ever .Its not nice to be killed on your birthday at all.
And my poor sister, she was only an innocent child yet. It was her seventh birthday that day

.I can never forget her terrified face.I could hear her terrified screams now, echoing through my head.

I stepped forward  determined to kill this beast which had ruined my life and only brought misery and
sorrow into the world .My hand tightened on my bow. This was it. This was the last
arrow. One last shot and that would be the end of that horrid beast. I raised my bow and
placed the last and seventh arrow against it, taking careful aim. I couldn't miss now. It
had been difficult enough shooting six other arrows into her without getting killed .I
might never get another chance after this, for I wasn't sure if I would survive this
encounter. I waited in this position watching to see if she noticed me. My arms were
beginning to hurt, my head throbbed, my vision became blurry. She turned, her eyes
glinting in the dark. She let out a snarl and lunged towards me. I let go of the arrow as
the last of my strength left me and crashed into the ground, praying that the arrow had
found its mark. Two seconds later something heavy landed on top of me and I heard a
low howl cut the silence of the night.

It seems like I had failed in my mission. That was  the sound that she always made before claiming her prey.

I felt a raspy breath near my  throat and felt something wet brush across it. My heart thudded loudly in the silence for

two seconds, then I felt them. She plunged her teeth into my neck. This was it. My time
had come. I too like many others before me would die at the hands of this heartless
vampire .I had given up all hope on living again when, she collapsed on me. I smiled as I looked at the stars through

blurry eyes. The arrow had found its mark after all
The last vampire had finally been shot with the seventh arrow, the last of the sacred
arrows .Her reign of terror had finally come to an end .My sister's soul could finally find
peace as could mine. With that reassuring thought I quietly closed my eyes and drifted
into an eternal sleep, ready to claim my spot in heaven.
