I promise you,
I don't scare easy.
Give me nightmares
that last for weeks,
trap me in the darkness
completely alone,
lose me 
in a wilderness
that wants me dead.
I won't be afraid.
The thing is,
I grew up 
with things others
would call monsters,
but to me,
they're old friends;
old friends that gnaw on the souls of the dead
and the dying,
that are darker than anything
you could ever know,
the reason I say 
it's not the dark that scares me,
but what's in the dark.
