There were sounds of metal crashing against flesh and then a roar of pain could be heard. The body of a Dracaena fell against the forest floor, its flesh soon turned into a pile of dust. Three girls came out of the foliage soon after with a pack of wolves following them. They had the same outfit with silver togas stopping just above their knees and had white sandals which had specks of dirt on them. With a silver streak in their hair, that streak proved that these three girls were part of Artemis’s Hunt.
“Monsters keep popping up everywhere! Ever since Lady Artemis disappeared they just keep coming!” The youngest of the three, Rachael, complained. She stretched her arms, trying to get the stiffness out of them.
“Yeah,” Paige, the second oldest, nodded her head in agreement, “We even had to split up into groups for gods’ sake!”
“Alright, that’s enough you two. We have to get back to camp; Lieutenant Sage has to tell us something.” The eldest, Charlotte told them, breaking up their conversation.
“Fine.” Paige grumbled, but complied with Charlotte’s wishes.
The three of them walked back to the direction they came from with their pack of wolves following closely behind. They kept guard of their surroundings being careful because you never know when a monster would pop out and kill you. That was the number one thing that the three had learned. Never let your guard down or else you could get chewed to bits.
When they arrived to camp, they were greeted with a bunch of hunters surrounding a single spot in the clearing. Charlotte squinted her eyes to look at who the person is that caught the attention of all the hunters. Since she had horrible eye-sight, Charlotte had to make a special little remedy that helped improve her eye-sight. She spotted her lieutenant being surrounded by the hunters with another girl standing by her side.
Sage soon spotted the trio in the crowd and confirmed that everyone was there.
“Now, that all of you are here, let’s start the meeting,” Sage started, “Recently I have received some unexpected news. Now, most of you had heard about Lady Artemis being absent for more than three days, right?”
Whispers of agreement were heard around the clearing as they too noticed that their leader has been gone for over a week.
Sage continued, knowing that this will upset the hunters immensely, “I have also received news that Lady Artemis has been kidnapped.”
The hunters gasped in shock as they thought of their leader receiving the worst torture out there.
“But not to worry, the gods has sent out three demigods to search for Lady Artemis. Unfortunately, those three demigods are boys.” Sage spat out the word, ‘boys,’ in distaste.
Murmurs broke out in the clearing.
“Why can’t we search for Lady Artemis instead?!” Paige yelled through the commotion.
The clearing became eerily quiet as the hunters silently nodded their heads in agreement.
“It’s because the gods have to send you on a quest to find her, Paige. Even though I disagree with this choice, I have no say so against the matter of the gods.” Sage replied in a dry tone.
“But-?!” Paige protested.
Sage cut her off, “I will not hear anymore on this matter! This is the gods’ decision and we have to respect that.”
Paige clenched her fist in burning rage, her cheeks turning the color of red.
“Then at least tell us the names of these demigods!” Charlotte spoke up. Paige sent her a grateful look which Charlotte nodded her head back at her.
Sage sighed, “If you so wish, the names are Garett, Braedon, and Jace.”
Charlotte nodded her head in thanks before tending to her friend, who was still seething with rage.
“Paige, calm down. We’ll deal with this later.” Rachael soothed, rubbing her friend’s back like a mother to a child.
“Alright, but we will deal with this later.” Paige grumbled.
“Now then, I also have to tell you that we have a new hunter joining us.” Sage interrupted the trio’s conversation.
The clearing broke out in whispers with the hunters squealing in glee and excitement.
Sage waved her hand at a girl standing next to her, “This is Alisa and she ran away from her home, wanting to find a better way to enjoy life. So, Lady Artemis invited her to become a hunter, which she gladly accepted. I hope all of you will be nice to your new fellow hunter.”
Alisa shyly walked up in front of the hunters, waving slightly at the hunters. She had the official hunter’s clothes on to show that she had joined, along with the silver streak in her hair. Her charcoal hair was chopped up into different lengths having them wildly surround her pale face. She had black eyes that are as dark as night glinting with a strange curiosity showing.
“Hi, I’m Alisa and I’m the daughter of Dionysus. I hope we can become great friends.” Alisa said in a small voice.
“Now, that you have introduce yourself, I want the inseparable trio over there-,” At this, Sage pointed her finger at Rachael, Paige, and Charlotte, “-to show Alisa around. I want you three to tell her the rules and how it works around here. I also want you three to show Alisa our daily routine. The meeting is now adjourned.” After that said, all the hunters scattered, going back to their usual routine.
Alisa walked up to the three girls, who stayed behind.
“Hey, I’m Charlotte, daughter of Athena.” Charlotte introduced herself, thrusting out her hand to shake. Alisa took her hand and shook her hand, smiling a small smile.
“I’m Paige, daughter of Ares.” Paige smiled at Alisa, which was out-of-character for a daughter of a war god.
“Wait, aren’t you supposed to be all mean and scary?” Alisa asked.
Paige crossed her arms, “Look girlie, I didn’t question you on how you behaved. I act this way ‘cause this is who I am. If you’ve got a problem with that, tell that to my fist.”
“I-I’m s-sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you.” Alisa stuttered.
“Well you just did,” Paige’s eyes softened to a friendlier glint, “Look, I’m sorry for acting like that but I’m just sick and tired of people questioning about my persona.”
“I understand. I really am sorry.” Alisa said with more sincerity.
“It’s alright.” Paige said.
“Hey, don’t forget about me!” Rachael butted in.
“Aww! You just ruined the moment!” Charlotte complained.
“Whatever. Hi! My name’s Rachael and I am the daughter of Aphrodite.” Rachael smiled, her dazzling Aphrodite kid smile, at Alisa.
“Nice to meet you but, shouldn’t you…I don’t know…not be a hunter?” Alisa asked her.
“Well, I mean it is a bit weird to spot a daughter of Aphrodite here, but I wanted to stay with my friends. I mean even though I adore love, I just can’t bear to part with my best friends.” Rachael explained, slinging her arms around her two best friends.
“Aww, that’s really sweet.” Alisa said.
“Yup! Now let’s get on with the tour!” Charlotte exclaimed and started to drag her best friends and Alisa around the place, showing them various things.
“-And that’s the end of the tour!” Charlotte yelled in glee, like a kid in a candy store. They were back at where they had started.
“Uh-huh…” Alisa mumbled, her brain couldn’t process what Charlotte had said after she had added math in the tour.
“Yeah, that was a great tour!” Rachael yelled in fake excitement.
“Yup!” Paige mumbled, trying to keep in her enthusiasm. *Sarcasm Alert*
Charlotte gave them a look, “You guys didn’t even listen did you?”
“What?~ Pfft, yeah we were, we were just trying to act like…um…uh…Oh! I think Sage is calling me! Coming Sage!” Paige ran off with Rachael and Alisa at her heels, leaving a trail of dust in her wake.
Charlotte shook her head, “Sometimes, I wonder why we’re even best friends.”
