Introduction

“BROOOOMANCEE; NOTHING REALLY GAY ABOUT IT! NOT THAT THERE’S ANYTHING WRONG WITH BEING GAY. GAAAYY! BROOOMANCE, SHOULDN’T BE ASHAMED OR HIDE IT. I LOVE YOU- IN THE MOST HETEROSEXUAL WAY!!!” Then, in unison, the girls whispered, “I love you bro,” staring into one another’s eyes. They all burst out into uncontrollable laughter leaving Holly’s father both confused and a little frightened but equally glad he was just about to drop them all off. He yawned, pressing his forehead against his fingers and sighing. “Something wrong, Daddy?” Holly asked all ‘innocence and sweetness’. He rolled his eyes as he stopped the car and muttered, “Get out and unpack so I can leave.”

The girls all hopped out, buzzing with excitement, and quickly unloaded everything they could before Holly grabbed the keys to the cabin and kissed her father on the cheek. He rolled the window up and drove away. Each girl, overwhelmed in their own way, took a moment to take in the large cabin they would be staying in for the next few days. The sky was beginning to darken behind the pine cabin that had three bedrooms, one bathroom, a large lounge and a dining room. Even better was that Holly’s dad had got this surprisingly cheap as an early birthday present for her.

The thing Holly was looking forward to the most was the supposedly huge and modern kitchen as she had been voted as mother hen for the week. There was also an outside barbeque but Holly, looking at the snowflakes gathering in her caramel hair, figured that she wouldn’t get the chance to use it this holiday.
Riley was picking up the first box when she saw five figures approaching. The girls all looked uncertainly at each other as Riley began to approach them to get a better look. The boy at the front of the pack was ‘tall, dark and handsome’ and ‘swaggering’ with a confident stride that completely contrasted the shorter boy beside him taking double the amount of steps he was and walking with his pale, sickly face looking towards the ground.

The guy on the far left with chestnut hair and ivory skin marched over to Holly and extended his hand saying loud enough for just her to hear, “Hi, I’m Logan.” Holly blushed but looked up, a little confused, chocolate eyes meeting her own hazel ones. She accepted his handshake, still in shock at how captivating the brown of his eyes were and also hungry because they reminded her of the chocolate in her bag. “Holly,” she said simply, coyly smiling and looking up at him through her eyelashes.

Riley stood, a little skeptical, and questioned bluntly what they were doing over at their cabin. A self-assured jerk, that had just arrived, flipped his light blonde hair cockily and narrowed his watery blue eyes at her. She returned the sassy action by flipping her own light blonde hair and glaring back with icy blue eyes.
A small smirk appeared on his face as he obnoxiously said, “Well we came over to help you unpack but if you’re going to be rude about…” trailing off pointedly. Riley rolled her eyes, grabbing the box she had been about to pick up and thrusting it at him saying, “I know I’m obviously more manly than you, so it should be fun seeing you struggle with this,” leaving a space for him to insert his name. “I’m Andrew” he said, obviously irritated by her abruptness, “Not that you deserve to know.” He grabbed the box and groaned a little at its weight before trying to cover it up. The pair walked off and the other girls stood there stunned at the events unfolding.

Holly and Logan managed to let go of each other’s hand, and gaze, eventually. He grabbed her case without her asking and she started to direct him to her room. A guy hadn’t ever offered to carry something for her before and he did it so effortlessly Holly figured that he might just be a gentleman.

Three girls and guys waited by a mound full of luggage not speaking a word until one of them, clearly trying to be butch, walked over to Lily and asked how he could assist her. His mixture of bluey-green eyes, mousy, brown hair and pale skin almost exactly mirrored her own. She raised an eyebrow but not wishing to turn down an opportunity to not have to do manual labour, she pointed to her suitcase which he picked up and struggled with to the door. Lily eventually had to help this newcomer, Jack, with the bag and he stopped pretending that he was strong.

“Hey, I’m a Cameron, but you can call me Cam” the pale, shorter guy addressed Ruby who returned with, “I’m Ruby and you can call me Ruby. Aren’t you honoured? I swim a couple of times a week, love food and hate confrontation. I also DO NOT, REPEAT, NOT have ginger hair. As you can see it is clearly brown!” Cam had to stop her there and remind her that this wasn’t her twitter bio or X-Factor sob story. Ruby giggled before starting to explain that she couldn’t actually remember which suitcase was hers.

Mandy had just begun to feel the blonde guy’s (whose name was Skyler, not that it mattered to her) abs from underneath his coat when she turned and saw that, from behind where Ruby was dancing like a demented kangaroo, another car was pulling up at the cabin on the right side of where the girls were staying. She literally couldn’t believe her eyes as the Under-17s cricket team and their assistant coach got out and began staring at Mandy who decided now- wait a minute- okay, now was the right time to remove her hand from his undisputedly hard abs. She looked at all of them in the eye before blushing a little and hiding beneath her chestnut hair.

The cricket team were treated to a view of Ruby doing her dance; Lily looking as though she was being groped from behind by Jack as they fought over box sets of TV shows they both liked and Holly tripping over a pine root and being saved from humiliation by Logan’s quick reactions to grab her waist to steady her.  She smiled up at him and muttered thanks as he laughed at her clumsiness. They finally turned their attentions to Riley who was having snow rubbed away from her cheek by a much taller Andrew and who, unlike the rest of the girls, was oblivious to the boy’s arrival. That was until one of them rudely coughed and the whole sorry scene was interrupted.

Riley turned around and turned bright red at who she saw. Aaron, Dylan, Alex, Jason, Tyler and Michael faced her, all grinning uncomfortably. She looked to the other girls who looked as confused as her. Jason began to explain they were there for a bonding week in preparation national matches since their team had been experiencing some ‘domestic problems’ lately. Riley rolled her eyes figuring it had something to do with their enormous egos and looked to Holly to provide some clarity.

Holly suddenly realised that her Father probably brought the spare cabin for the cricket club and, when it hadn’t been needed, he gave it to the girls. That explained how he got it so cheap! Voicing this explanation all of the girls mentally face-palmed, apart from Mandy who literally face palmed and poked herself in the eye, annoyed at how they could have been so stupid as to think a great cabin over New Year’s would be so readily available and cheap.

With nothing they could do about the current circumstances, the girls and their new neighbours began unpacking and the cricket boy’s, who were staying in the cabin to the other side of them, started to do the same from the older boy’s- Jason’s- car. Jason, acting as coach, would supervise them for the week.

Ruby passed a few boxes to Cam screaming passionately “Be careful with the pizzas! They’re for tonight!” as he chuckled lightly and asked how they were going to manage to eat them all. Ruby replied winking, “With great skill.” Despite all odds, the boys weren’t falling for this and asked, if they brought around some extra food, they were allowed to come.

Riley made the formal invitation to Andrew saying “You can come, if you must.” and he replied with “Ew. Why would we want to come anyway? Loser.” She shoved him and he shoved her back before grabbing her suitcase off her and leading her inside. At this point Holly thought of how perfect they were together and began to come up with ship names for them.

Not so happy at this ‘adorable’ scene and having seemingly been frozen-out the cricket boys began to protest. “Why can’t we have pizza too?” cried Tyler indignantly, running up to Cam with his short, chubby legs. Cam looked at him like he might be a foot and mouth disease carrier, but continued walking anyway through the girls’ front door.

At this point Dylan approached Holly and Logan and asked Holly how she could have strangers eating at their cabin, adding “They could gang-rape you,” which was a really well thought out point. Holly laughed, about to reply, when Cam and Tyler returned and joined the groups. Now the girls and strangers stood on one side of the path with the cricket team on the other. It genuinely seemed like there would be a fight soon so to break the tension Lily, Ruby, Riley, Holly and Mandy all started clicking in a similar way to the start of West Side Story. The boys then had to stop squaring up to each other as they all began to laugh. Someone- no one was sure who- but Holly suspected it was probably Mandy entranced by Skyler’s abs, invited the cricket boys over for dinner too to break the tension.

With about half an hour between the confrontation and the dinner, the girls quickly changed into jeans and began a seating plan in order to get back at each other for this stupid fate they’d landed themselves in. Lily stayed quiet as she had no history with any of them so simply laughed at the other’s misfortune. They decided to put her at the end and put Jack at the other end so, to quote Mandy, “They could make googly eyes at one another,” and to quote Riley, “They could eye fuck.”

Next, Holly pointed out that Riley should have to sit next to Aaron due to their history of flirting and messaging each other. Riley would go to her grave denying ever liking him and said that he liked other girls obviously. He was a horny toad who would message anyone with an accessible, or not-so-accessible vagina. The other girls, upon hearing this, all gave her sceptical, patronising nods and she scowled jokily at them.

They decided that next to Lily, on her right, would be Andrew, then Riley, then Aaron.  Riley, not happy about this understandably, decided to take out her anger on her main indicter Holly, and put Michael there. Whilst on holiday with school in Italy, Holly had made the fatal mistake of trying to flirt with him and had said so many stupid things including which guy he felt was the hottest on the England Cricket Team and that, direct quote, “love has no barriers”. She was then surprised he didn’t jump at the chance to watch the Lord of the Rings marathon she unofficially invited him round for. Good job, Holly!

The girls all felt that was a little harsh and that it would be much funnier to put him in between Aaron and Jason as none of them got on and Holly used to fancy Jason so it was awkward there as well. Then they could sit Holly then Logan then it was the end of the table where Jack was sat.

Cameron and then Ruby were next but as Ruby has been stuck in classes with Michael, Alex and Dylan, along with many others, bullying her for years the girls decided to seat them as Ruby then Alex then Dylan but mainly so they could then sit Mandy next to Tyler. It had been a long running joke that Mandy was in love with Tyler, even though she really disliked him, so the girls always found opportunities to force them together as Mandy hated it. What made it worse was he called her Amanda or Mands and she hated both of those names, especially coming out of his disgusting mouth. In protest, Mandy went to the corner for the rest of time sulking until they coaxed her out by promising that she could sit next to Skyler and spend the time groping him.

With the fact that Mandy could spend the time “playing with her new boy-toy” agreed as well as the fact that all of them should get to sit next to the guys they had found themselves attached to- with the exception of Lily who was opposite hers- Holly went to the kitchen to begin cooking and the rest of them started to lay the table.

The dinner was set, people were collecting slices of pizza and the conversation was actually flowing with a reassuring buzz of happiness. People were joking and laughing and no one was left out. The only people that weren’t talking were Lily and Jack, who were having a conversation through facial expressions. Lily was informing Jack that she wasn’t huge fan of pizza while he was telling her he was allergic to cheese anyway, or lactose intolerant, she wasn’t entirely sure.

Although, Holly knew it wouldn’t last when the boys round he began talking about cricket. Dylan began to ask her about how her cricket was doing but Logan interrupted, with a look on his face that Holly had not seen so far but it looked like genuine repulsion, saying “You play cricket?” Before Holly had a chance to reply Dylan cut in saying, “Yes, yes she does. So what? Do you have a problem with that? Girls can play cricket too!” Holly blushed, starting to state that she did play cricket in order to answer his question before Jason cut in saying, “Yes she’s really quite good too. This reminds me, we need to have training every night, and you’re welcome to come along. I don’t know if we’re going tonight or not?” Dylan shook his head saying they hadn’t even booked an area and it was far too cold to play outside. With a murmur of agreement Jason continued eating before the rest all carried on, slightly awkwardly, eating their meals, Holly gliding over the fact that she didn’t really want to go but is very bad at saying no.

Meanwhile, Riley, always the lucky one, found herself subjected to at least ten minutes worth of constant arguments about cricketing skill taking place in her peripheral. She had been attempting to talk to Andrew about the sports he played but the idiots behind her were taking away her attention. When he talked about his rugby team, and the fact that he swam, he had a glint in his eye showing this passion and this side of him seemed genuinely entrancing to her.
She sat and silently wished she could find a sport she could be so passionate about. Maybe it was rugby, either way she’d love to be tackled by Andrew. With that thought in mind she blushed a little turning her attentions instead to Lily who was currently having a funny eye conversation with Jack. They were both in hysterics and Riley really wondered how no one had noticed this cute little scene. She shrugged and started to watch an argument at the other side of the table.

This time, Holly had been complimented on her “fast balls” by Jason before Dylan had turned around and said how that sounded like a sexual innuendo, but he couldn’t be bothered to actually come up with a joke, before joining in with a pizza fight on that side of the table. At that moment Holly had no idea who really was the biggest douche out of the two. They genuinely both irritated her so much. Holly did the only thing she could and continued angrily munching on her slice of pizza. Logan noticed a small bit of remaining cheese on the side of mouth and went to wipe it off as seductively as one can rub a bit of cheese off. However, this lovely moment was swiftly ruined by Dylan who shouted “GAYY!” at the two. Holly looked at him incredulously and asked him how on earth it was gay. He was quick to explain, and to demonstrate, that a straight guy would lick it and then tried to grab Holly’s neck from the other side of the table to where he was sat. Holly yanked herself back so forcefully that she almost fell off and had to be saved by Logan. They looked into each other’s eyes smiling and Dylan scoffed and turned away in disgust. Holly was attempting to focus on Logan’s chocolate eyes but Dylan’s waste of pizza in warfare was upsetting her too much.

Everything had seemed to escalate on Riley’s side of the table too. She was just innocently arguing half-heartedly with Andrew and staring at Lily and Jack when she was dragged into an argument between Michael and Aaron. They were arguing about who had the biggest dick and threatening to prove it. Riley quickly reminded them that doing so could induce severe vomiting of all of this delicious pizza and also neither of them had to prove the size of their dicks as it was evident since they were on their heads.

Feeling pretty foolish, clearly because of her witty banter, Michael attempted to shame Aaron by saying, “At least I’m not a manwhore flirting with all of the girls I can to make myself feel better.” Aaron smirked replying, “No girls would want to flirt with you and, I don’t even flirt with anyone anymore. I’m ready to go into a mature relationship.” Looking pretty chuffed with that statement he stared straight into Riley’s eyes who felt an unwelcome surge of pleasure, though she couldn’t tell whether it was at the revelation or his beautiful bluey-green eyes. She decided it was the fact that there was pizza in her vicinity instead.
She flashed a small smile to both of them and was about to eat the best slice of pizza, which she had saved for last, when it was cruelly snatched out of her hand by Michael. He had decided he was going to prove his self-worth by putting as much cheese in his hair as possible. Riley pouted and ate the pineapple on her plate, left from the pizza, as she watched Michael scream, worryingly seriously, “This shows you, Riley! I am the best contender for your heart.” She widened her eyes and scoffed in disgust and confusion about what he going on about. She continued arguing with her inner-self about whether she was enjoying this or not. When Andrew offered her half of his last slice she decided she was definitely enjoying it. Either way, it was set to be an amusing holiday.
On the other side of the side of the table, one could say that it was less awkward. For the first bit everyone was watching (half in amusement, half in horror) at Mandy reaching for Skyler’s biceps like a baby reaches for its bottle. It was looking less and less likely that Skyler was going to ‘gang-rape’ anyone this fine night; however the same could not be said for dearest Amanda.

Seeing as Dylan was pretty much blanking them Ruby decided to try to talk to Cam a bit more without embarrassing herself. She turned towards him, her mouth full of pizza, before her mouth dropped wide open: before her eyes, on Cam’s very plate, there was just one piece of untouched pizza. Ruby could not find the words to ask him why, how, he could not have eaten but, before she could ask Cam, Alex started to laugh at her saying “Ruby, there is cheese hanging out your mouth. What a cheesy smile.” Ruby went red and mentally face palmed at his cheesy joke but at that moment Tyler turned to Alex and said “Good one, mum!”

Everyone on that table was silent for a second before they erupted into hysterics as Tyler had just said “mum” instead of “man” and was attempting to clear his name but everybody was laughing too hard at what he had said to hear his pleas. Mandy even turned around from groping Skyler to chant “Melt the fat! Melt the fat! Melt the fat!” and Alex joined in. It was almost like Tyler’s ‘jingle’ and people always chanted it as he walked around school since he was a ‘chubby baker boy’.

The tension on the table once again started to rise before Cam, in some way, helped it by saying “Well I guess I can now see why all of your team needs a little bit more love,” and then he winked. Ruby wished he had winked at her but it was actually more in the direction of everyone else. She reckoned he was just a very friendly guy. She cleared her throat and asked “So how come you haven’t eaten anything yet?” to Cam. Cam gave her a smile, saying “I’m on a diet. Pizza really goes to my hips.”

Tyler looked horrified and jumped out of his seat saying “I volunteer as tribute!” running over to grab the pizza off of Cam’s plate. Mandy heard this while she was blowing raspberries on Skyler’s hard abs and, after rubbing off the tomato shaped lips on Skyler’s stomach, she shouted “You’re fine. It’s Tyler that needs to go on a diet!” Cam replied “I’m sorry but I am just not fat,” glaring at Ruby as he said it. Ruby picked up a slice of the meat feast pizza and said “Then you are no friend of mine!” putting her nose in the air as though she was very posh, before she slapped him round the face with the pizza. After she did that, she ate it. Tyler then took inspiration from this, seeing as he was still angry at Mandy’s comment before, grabbing the ketchup and squirting it on Mandy’s face. Mandy slapped him but she still had a line of ketchup down her cheek which, being the gentleman that he is, Skyler started to lick off.

The flirting between Skyler and Mandy had begun to get just a little bit out of hand and Holly could feel a bit of sick coming up. Riley decided to point out that some people didn’t want to see that and Aaron added that Mandy was retarded. Holly began to recommend that nobody should flirt like that but everyone just turned to her and raised their eyebrows insinuating that she shouldn’t be giving anyone tips on flirting. Alex seemed a little left out and he tried to mention the fact that he liked ketchup but everyone ignored him. After everyone managed to hold down their vomit over Mandy and Skyler, they kept on eating, hoping that the awkwardness would end. Cam obviously didn’t eat anything and kept trying to talk to Alex who was too busy being a pig to notice.

When dinner was finally over they all helped to pack and tidy up. Holly and Logan were doing the washing up in the kitchen whilst Dylan and Jason were helping dry up and pack away even though they had no clue where anything went so Holly ended up having to do it all anyway. Logan tried to protest for her but she just told him to shut up. She’d do anything for the easy life.

The rest of the group were sat in the lounge watching Riley hysterically laugh at “The Revolution Will be Televised” and then trying to explain each joke to Ruby and Cam who were clueless. Jack and Lily were sat on the edge deciding what they wanted to do tomorrow, and ‘do’ in this case meant ‘watch’ as they were sorting through their box sets.

Andrew was lightly kicking Riley’s back to irritate her as she slapped him away each time and they began to argue about the politics on the TV. Aaron and Michael were trying to join in with the conversation but had no clue what they were talking about so ended up just having a small pillow fight with Alex. Mandy and Skyler were, of course, in her bedroom ‘saying goodnight’ to one another.

Once they emerged, and Holly returned from the kitchen, the boys decided to leave. The cricket boys went first without getting any attention from the girls who were too busy saying goodbye to the guys from the other cabin. Mandy and Skyler ‘hugged’ which turned into them feeling one another up and the rest of them awkwardly said goodbye, pushing the boys out of the door. They all sighed and dragged their butts to bed, not giving too much thought as to what would happen for the rest of the week since they were all so tired.
