Personality:
Mark is very strong-willed and very protective of those who are close to him, especially those who are younger than him. As the oldest of seven, he takes the role of 'protector' very seriously. He will respect authority and do what he can to learn how to be better at something. He does have a playful side where he relaxes and throws out witty comments or sarcastic humour, but you have to break down the walls to that light-heartedness.
BACKSTORY:
Marcus Nicolas Coletti was the oldest child of seven, born to Jack and Maria Coletti. The family was from Salem, Massachusetts, where they ran a local pizzeria. They were known as the "not so mobbish" Italian family that lived on a haunted hill, in a haunted castle...
For his entire life, Mark had known about the secret society in Kansas. While all of his other friends were going off to popular universities and colleges, Mark would just say that he was going into the family business. Which... was mostly true.
The Coletti's were indeed descendants of an old mob family from Cosenza, Italy. Marcus had been raised to prepare himself to attend Nexus when he was old enough to handle the supernatural world and learn as much as he could to protect his family and those around them in Salem. It was his purpose, his mission, and he took it very, very seriously.
Everyone in the graveyard was dead. Well, mostly everyone. The small cemetery sat on the outskirts of Kenner, Louisiana. It lay behind a very old, very abandoned church, with a gate surrounding the perimeter; in theory there to keep evil spirits inside the premisis. Someone should have probably built something to keep evil spirits or beings from coming in...
Marcus Coletti knew why he was there, walking between the rows of gravestones. He'd always known that when he became eighteen, he would have to make a choice. Did he follow the path of his father, joining him in his fight against supernatural darkness? There were many dark beings that desired to quench their thirst on the good humans of the world. Marcus had been sparring with the team of "agents" his father led for the past year. They were women and men who perfected their craft by being part of Jack Coletti's underground "fight club". Marcus knew exactly where his blood was going, the blood he spilled during those fighting duals. It was time he took some of it back.
One of the girls working for his father, Julie, had taken Marcus under her wing for the past year. She too was eighteen, but she had already become one of those agents; as strong, if not stronger, than some of the men in the club. She had promised that when Marcus' time came, she would make the transition as painless as possible. Then, he would go with her to Mystic Falls. It was funny, really... In the end, Marcus had very little choice regarding what he was walking towards.
Julie was leaning against the willow tree where they had spent many nights stargazing. Okay... making out. The girl's beauty hit Marcus like a lightning bolt every time he saw her. The moonlight made her amber hair shine, and her green piercing. Julie and Marcus had been dating for a year now, but things were about to change... forever.
"Hey Marcus," she greeted him when he'd reached her. The tension of the night's significance could be heard clearly in her voice. "I'm glad you came."
"Not coming wasn't an option," Marcus shrugged, trying to hide how nervous he was. "I don't really want the wrath of the Crypt on me," he said, referring to the name of his father's... organization.
"Aren't you even a little bit excited?" Julie asked, stepping closer. She reached up to caress his cheek. "We'll be together, baby. Isn't that the point? Together... forever."
Marcus nodded slowly, but there was some hesitation. He took her hand and kissed her knuckles softly. "Yes, Jules. Forever..."
3: 2 - (September) US Geography: What's the Big Idea?Mark sat in his first class at Nexus feeling anything but tired. He was ready to learn and prove that he could hunt, fight, and protect those under his care. He also wrote notes about his classmates as they answered the questions. Information was power, after all.
When it was his turn, he sat up straighter and looked around. "Hey everyone, my name is Mark Coletti. I'm eighteen years old and I'm in the 'Hunters' faction." He looked at the next questions on the board and went on. "My favourite colour is black and our family has a bunch of dogs and cats at our home in Salem. I got to take one of the black cats with me... well, she insisted she had to come with me. Her name is Maggie and she's a spoiled little brat."
There were chuckles from his classmates; fellow cat owners, he guessed. "She's probably relaxing or sleeping on my... I mean... her bed... as we speak. Anyway, something interesting about me is that I am the oldest of seven children. My grandparents immigrated to Salem from Italy. We own a pizza place in Salem, so of course pizza is my favourite food! So I guess that's a few facts about me."
He thought about the last question and said, "Geography is important because knowledge is power. Knowing about someone's state can teach you a lot about that person, as well as knowing where you are going on journeys or uh... hunting expeditions as was already mentioned in class."
With that, he let the next person go.

Marcus sat in his first Transformation class. Since Julie had turned him, only a few days ago, Marcus' entire life had changed. Well, maybe it was more accurate to say it had been... amplified. Now, he lived with his uncle Joe in Mystic Falls, and he had to introduce himself to a bunch of strangers who would be all staring at him. Lovely. He didn't even know where to start.
When it was his turn, he stood somewhat shakily and cleared his throat. "Hi, everyone. My name is Marcus Coletti, and I... am a vampire." He'd said it like those introductions at Alcoholics Anonymous. No one replied with, "Hi Marcus," like he had expected, so he pressed on.
"Alrigiht, that's obviously not new to all of you like it is to me... Anyway, I'm in the Orleans bloodline. I'm from Kenner, Louisiana. It's a small town near New Orleans. My parents run a pizza place there, being Italian and all we know how to make pizzas..." He grinned finally.
"I'm eighteen years old, and I live with my uncle, Joe, as of like... a few days ago." That got some interesting reactions. Sure, Marcus wasn't all that close to the guy yet, but apparently the kids of Mystic Falls were well-acquainted with his uncle. "Okay, what? He's not really all that bad, is he?"
The room went quiet again, and Marcus turned to pierce his gaze at Julie, who was sitting in the front row. "What didn't you tell me?"
Julie sighed heavily. "I'll... We'll talk later, Marcus. I promise."
Marcus rolled his eyes and looked around the room. "If anyone actually wants to tell me about my own uncle, you know where to find me." He looked at the teacher and said, "I guess I'm done."
With that he sat back down in his desk, folding his arms across his chest.
"I promise, we'll talk," Julie said softly, putting a hand on his arm.
"We'd better," Marcus replied through gritted teeth.

My Imagination/NPC (Julie).
Dear Diary,
Today in Healing Class we had to write our name, and then a word for each letter in the alphabet that described us. Some letters were easy, but others not so much!
I wrote my full name at the top: Marcus Nicolas Coletti, then I got to work and listed every alphabet letter after each other, with the word, and a description of why I chose that word:
A - Ambitious.
I am very ambitious and always do the best job I can do at whatever I am working on.
B - Brother.
I am a brother to my six younger siblings.
C - Coletti.
My last name is "Coletti".
D - Dogs.
I love dogs! I have a husky named Duke and a golden retriever named Chloe. I miss them a lot now that they're far away in Louisiana where I'm from.
E - Eager.
I am very eager to learn as much as I can about the new supernatural world that I find myself in.
F - Friendly.
I try to be very friendly to whoever I meet, until they give me a reason to act otherwise.
G - Graveyard.
This one is harder to write about. This is where I was turned into a vampire by my girlfriend, Julie. I knew it was going to happen... my whole family is filled with them... but it was quite a different experience than I was expecting it to be.
H - Holidays.
In our family, we really do holidays up right. We have loads of decorations, a big huge meal that always tastes delicious, and the house is filled with family, fun and laughter. My favourite time of year is definitely Christmas.
I - Intelligent.
I try to be as intelligent as I can so that I can communicate with other people and sound like I know what I'm talking about.
J - Joker.
Once you get under my protective, serious shell... I can be quite the joker and give some pretty good sarcastic jokes.
K - Kind.
I like to be kind to everyone.
L - Leader.
Being the oldest in a family of seven, I have often had to take a leadership role when my father is... busy with work.
M - Marcus.
This is my first name!
N - New.
This one is important because I am a brand new vampire, just recently turned.
O - Original.
I try to be different so that I stand out and people remember me.
P - Perfectionist.
I can become very perfectionist and want to have all my work done properly and to the best that I can do.
Q - Questions.
I ask a lot of questions so that I can learn the most information!
R - Reliable.
If I promise that I will do something, it will get done!
S - Stars.
One of my favourite things to do is to gaze up at the stars and look for constellations and shooting stars.
T - Trustworthy.
If you tell me something in confidence, you can be sure that I won't tell anyone your secret.
U - Understanding.
I try to be able to understand someone else's point of view, even if I don't agree with it.
V - Vampire.
It's... what I am. Apparently.
W - Wealthy.
Coming from a big Italian family, we uh... have quite a bit of money thanks to my parents' businesses.
X - Xylophone.
Okay, this one was a shot in the dark. But I absolutely hate the sound of xylophones.
Y - Young Adult.
I guess once you turn eighteen, you become a young adult.
Z - Zany.
Living with six other siblings... all younger than you... It's easy to become a little zany!!!
So that's my story. I hope that you've enjoyed learning a little about me, Diary! Until next time.
Marcus.

Marcus hoped this introduction would go better than it had in Transformation class. He raised his hand hesitantly and took his turn. He stood from his chair and said, "Hey again, everyone. I'm Marcus Coletti, and yes... I live with my Uncle Joe beside the graveyard. I'm eighteen and I'm... a Vampire." He'd spoken quickly through that part, just to avoid the usual reactions he got when he said his last name. "I guess an interesting fact about me is that I'm from Louisiana, but you all probably know that. But uh... I've only been a vampire for a few days... So this is all kinda new to me."
He looked at the questions on the board and went on. "So far, I'm still figuring out what the classes are all about here. I was honestly hoping to hear more about what we'll be studying today, but I guess that will come in time. I'm looking forward to learning about the history of the supernatural world, considering my family has only really taught me about vampires... But I will say that I like our teacher's enthusiasm. Also, I'm hoping to talk to her about being a vampire, considering my own family is kind of far away to ask.
With that, he sat down again.

Marcus listened to the teacher introduce himself. He was curious now about how boys could be witches. He'd always thought witches were girls and wizards were boys. He'd already learned something, and class had barely begun.
When it was his turn, he stood up and looked directly at the teacher. He'd seen enough reactions from his classmates about his last name, so he just talked to the teacher. "Hello sir," he said to the man. "I'm Marcus Coletti, and as of a few days ago... I'm a Vampire. I always knew it was inevitable, but I hadn't expected the transformation to be... like it was."
Clearing his throat, Marcus continued. "So yeah... My clan is Vaampires and I'm from the Orleans bloodline. My favourite colour is black, and I'm looking forward to learning all sorts of magic, especially stuff that helps you attack if an enemy is coming at you. Protective spells and all that. Being the object of seven, it'll likely come in handy."
He thought about the last question and said, "I think my spirit animal may be a lion, since it both attacks enemies but protects its prideland too." With that, he sat back down.

Marcus listened to everyone's introductions again. He knew it was good to learn names and facts about eacah other. The redundancy was actually helping him remember everyone's names so he understood why the school did it this way.
He stood when it when it was his turn and he cleared his throat. "Hey guys. I know we're all tired of this stuff, but the teachers don't all know us yet. And well, after this month no one can say they don't remember our names."
There was a bit of a laughter from his classmates so he began to answer the questions. "So you guys know that I'm Marcus Coletti. I'm eighteen and I just moved in with my uncle. My dad's brother, obviously. The guy's not really all that bad, most of the time..."
Some students scoffed while others outright laughed. Marcus just sighed and looked from Julie, his girlfriend, back to the others. "Okay, look. I get it. Creepy vampire who stalks the graveyard next door. Since someone hasn't told me the whole story here yet," he glared at Julie. "Could anyone fill me in? Please? 'Cause I literally just joined this whole Vampire clan..."
Blank stares met him, until one boy that Marcus didn't recognize piped up. "Look, man. It's no secret what your family does. We all know it's not just a pizzeria place they're running in Louisiana."
Marcus cleared his throat nervously. "I mean, pizza is my favourite food, obviously, but..."
"Where do you think that your dad gets all those 'agents' from?" The kid asked. "You know... the ones who 'protect the vulnerable' or whatever?"
That made Marcus go pale. He gritted his teeth and looked around. "You... all know?"
"Obviously!" The same kid rolled his eyes. "Your uncle 'recruits' them from from Mystic Falls, sends them to your dad in Louisiana to be... minions."
Marcus clened his fists and tried to hold back his anger. Who was this guy? He tried to think back over the instructions. Tanner... Tanner Germaine.
Before he could react, Julie tugged him down so he wouldn't leap over and tackle the guy. He looked over at Julie and leaned to whisper to her. "Who the heck is that kid? And why does everyone know about what my uncle does except for me? I live with the guy, Julie. You should have told me."
Julie winced and put a hand on his. "We'll talk after class, okay? I promise."
Marcus rolled his eyes and said, "Yeah, sure we will."
He found it very difficult to focus for the rest of the class.
