It all started as just a normal mission: Poof and Bubble a gem monster. Emerald, Jade, and Pineapple Quartz were all calm. But Purple Sapphire had a bad feeling... Something felt.... Wrong. Emerald had his Bow in hand, Jade had her Cleaver, and Pineapple had her trademark Fan. She wiped the sweat off of her brow, and continued to walk up the path to the top of the volcano. Maybe it was just the heat... Yea, that was it. The heat from the volcano was making her a little loopy. But still... "Are you guys sure nothing is wrong?" she asked, worried. "Of course," Emerald assured her, "We've checked here before. We just saw a monster that shouldn't be any problem." "O-Ok... It just doesn't feel right..." The group continued walking on in silence. "Don't worry Sapphire!" Jade piped up, "Nothing can beat the Crystal Gems!" She says, slicing through a nonexistent enemy with her cleaver, then smiling at her. "Y-Yea, i guess you're right." She says, chuckling slightly. After a little more walking, they reach the peak of the volcano. "I don't see anything..." Sapphire says, worried again. They check around, but don't see anything. "Its just gone..." Pineapple says, scanning the area once more. Sapphire sighed, relieved. That's when everything went wrong. The lava in the volcano exploded. Sapphire summoned her cape made out of crystal, "Guys! Over Here!" she calls, as everyone run over to her and gets behind the cape. "Whats happening?!?!" She asks the Gems. They all have shocked, blank expressions. "Well?" "W-We don't know..." Emerald says, and falls to his knees with both of his hands on the side of his head. "We've never seen a monster powerful enough to do this..." Pineapple says quietly.

Suddenly, lava stops flying everywhere, and Sapphire cautiously puts her cape down. "I-Is it over?" She asks."GET AWAY FROM ME!!!!!" a feminine voice suddenly shouts through the silence. "JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!!" it yells, as a mysterious figure gets raised up on a pillar of lava, and looks down at them. Sapphire scrambles behind Pineapple. "Who are you?" Pineapple calls to the figure. "W-Who am I....?" it asks and falls to its knees on the pillar of lava. Suddenly, the pillar shrinks down and deposits her on the ground in front of the Gems. "I-I.... d-don't... know..." She starts crying, but her tears were made of molten lava. The Gems look at each other, then back to her. "I'm sorry..." She says, and looks at the Gems. When she does, Sapphire looks at the red gem on her forehead,"Your Gem is cracked!" She exclaims, and pushes through the Gems to get to her. "Sapphire, no!" the other gems exclaim, reaching out to grab her, but missing. She reaches her and cradles this new gem in her arms, making sure to avoid the lava tears. She flinches at this, but eventually gives in and leans into her. "We need to help her, guys!" Sapphire calls to the other Gems. "I don't know about this..." Emerald whispers to the others. "We need to trust her with this. She seems... different from the other monsters we've fought." Pineapple whispers. "I think i can heal your gem." Sapphire whispers to the mysterious Gem. "W-Wait... Really?" she asks hopefully. "Yea, but its a bit weird." She says. "Well... Go ahead and do it!" she exclaims, smiling, for what seems like the first time in forever. Sapphire moves towards the gem. "Here we go." She says, and places a kiss on her forehead. She flinches, then when Sapphire moves away, her Gem starts to glow. "I did it!" She exclaims happily, and backs away. The gem raises up into the air slightly, and falls to the ground, but lands on her feet. The Gems stare in silence and slight horror at this new Gem. "She didn't...." Emeralds whispers. "She did..." Jade answers. "Sapphire... You saved her!" Pineapple exclaims proudly, and walks over to Sapphire and hugs her. "What?!" Emerald and Jade yell in unison, "She could be dangerous!" "She's not dangerous to us... Not anymore. Right? uh... Do you remember your name?" Sapphire asked the gem. "M-My name... is Almandine..."

"Nice to meet you Amandine," Pineapple says, and walks over to her, and offers her hand out to shake. She reluctantly reaches her hand out and returns the gesture. "I'm sorry... That I attacked you...." she says, and looks at her feet. "Its ok Almandine" Sapphire says reassuringly. Emerald cautiously walks up, and looks her over. "So, how did you get to Earth?" He asks. Almandine looks at him, staying silent. "I was a prisoner..." she says quietly, Homeworld didn't like that I wasn't fighting in the war... I managed to escape during a fight." She explains. "But... Not without a blow to my gem. I think it was Agate..." she says sadly, "That's how it got cracked." Steven looks up to the sky angrily, like he can see all the way to Homeworld. "Homeworld is going to pay..." she says angrily, no longer his usual happy self.  "Especially Agate..."
