I walk into the park, and over to my favorite tree. I sit down, and pull my favorite book - The Jerk Magnet by Melody Carlson - out of my bag.
I love just coming to the park, sitting under this tree, and reading. I could sit here for hours on end, and never get bored.
I hear someone whistle, and look up from my book. I don't see anything, so I go back to reading.
I hear it again, but this time someone calls my name.
"Tilly!"
I look up again, and still don't see anyone except a few little kids playing ball across the park.
"OUCH!" I yell as an apple falls from the tree, and hits me on the head
I hear someone laugh, and I instantly know who it is.
"Look up idiot"
I look up, and see - sitting in the branches - my best friend Jack Huffman.
"What are you doing up there?" I ask "And why did you throw an apple at me?"
He laughs, and jumps down "Because it's funny" he says smiling at me
"You are such a kumquat" I say
"A kumquat?" he asks
"Yes, and you're a banana head too" I say, and he laughs again
"You are so weird" he says after he finally stops laughing
"Says the guy who ran around in his underwear and a towel at my sixth birthday party yelling "I'm captain underpants" at everyone" I say
"I thought we agreed to never bring that up again" he says quietly as if he were telling me some big secret
"No you said you weren't going to. I never said anything about it"
"Hey, there's this new brownie place down town. Wanna go?" Jack asks me
"But I was busy reading" I whine
"But you'll miss the brownies" he whines back at me
"But I don't wanna-"
"You can get sprinkles on yours" Jack says
"...Well what are we waiting for!? Let's go!"
I grab my bag and Jack's hand, and we both start running towards the brownie place.
-:-:-:-:-:-
"Brownies-R-Us?" I ask as we stop in front of a big building
Jack nods his head "Yup" he says
"They couldn't think of something more clever? Like Brownie Town, or Brownietopia? Or something like that?"
"Apparently not. They should've hired you to chose the name"
"Yes they should've" I say crossing my arms, and Jack smiles
He takes my hand, and pulls me into the building.
"Two brownies please. A number 1 and a number 2" Jack says
"Okay, that will be five forty seven" the cashier says
"I got it" Jack says
"Thanks"
-:-:-:-:-:-
After we eat our brownies we head to the beach for a swim.
We walk around for a little while, then Jack picks me up, and runs over to the water. He throws me in, and the water is FREEZING!
I pop my head above the water to see Jack right beside me laughing his head off at me.
"What'd you do that for?!"
"Because it was funny!" he says still laughing
"I'll get you back for this" I say, and he laughs even harder
"Sure you will" he says sarcastically "And I'm gonna marry a dolphin"
We both know that even when I want to get revenge on someone I never do it.
He knows this personally, because he was the one who I wanted to get revenge on when we first met.
We were four, and I was playing around in the very same park we were at earlier today.
I was playing with my Barbies, and he was on the other side of the tree - yes the same tree he was in this morning - playing with his cars.
He, apparently, got bored of his trucks, and decided to climb the tree. He did it - which was actually pretty impressive for a four year old - but when he did he knocked down a bunch of apples on my head.
I yelled and screamed at him because he ruined my Barbie's wedding day.
He ran over to his mom, and came back with an apple with a note attached to it that said "Sorry". But, since I was only four, I had to take it to my mom, so that she could read it to me.
I said that if he wanted to make it up to me he had to make it up to Marissa by marrying her, because he made her fiance run away.
He felt sorry, and married the doll who was named Marissa Catapult...But then her name was Marissa Huffman.
The next day when we were both there again he gave me an apple with a note attached to it that said "Wanna be best friends?"
We've been best friends ever since. Meeting at that same tree every day after school.
To this very day he still says no to every girl who asks him out, because he says that he's already married. But watching the girl's reaction when he says he's married to a Barbie doll is pretty hilarious.
"Come on" he says, and I see him swimming back to the beach
I follow him, and we run back to my house.
-:-:-:-:-:-
By the time we get there we're both mostly dry - I live pretty far from the beach - and we go to my bedroom.
"What do you wanna do tomorrow?" I ask
"We'll figure out what to do tomorrow when it's tomorrow. Right now I just want to sleep"
He walks over, and flops down on my bed. I laugh, and lay down beside him. We both fall asleep.
-:-:-:-:-:-
One Month Later
Jack said to meet him here - at the park by the tree -, and to bring my old Barbie that just so happens to be his wife.
"Jack!?"
"Hey" He says jumping down from the tree. An apple falls down, and hits my head.
"You really need to stop doing that" I say, and he laughs
"I need to ask Marissa something" he says
"Well, here she is" I say holding her up
He hands her an apple, and I take it to read it.
"Dear, Marissa, I would like to divorce you"
"Aww, Jack, you're gonna make her feel bad" I say
"No I'm not" he pulls out a Ken doll "You are now husband and wife"
"She's better now" I say
"And this one is for you" he says handing me an apple. I read the note.
"Go out with me?"
"Yes" I say, and we both smile
-:-:-:-:-:-
Six Years Later
Jack asked me to meet him here by the tree again.
"Hey" he says
At least he's not in the tree this time.
"You wanted to see me?"
"Yeah..I...Uh...Here" He hands me an apple.
I look at it, and read the note.
"Marry me?"
I look up at him, and smile.
"Yes"
-:-:-:-:-:-
"Do you, Jack, take this woman..."
This is the biggest day of my life. Our wedding day! We even decided to get married under the same tree we met under. Our tree. We even carved our initials into it.
"I do" Jack says
"And do you, Tillyana, take this man..."
"I do"
"You may now kiss the bride"
He kisses me, and an apple falls on my head.
"That tree seriously hates me" I mumble, and Jack laughs
"Yeah, I think it does" he says "But it doesn't matter what the tree thinks of you, because I love you"
Who would've guessed that our friendship could've come this far all because of apples?

Woah, I'm still kinda new to this site (I'm used to FictionPress), and so this is the first story I have on here. Although I'll probably mostly be on FictionPress, I'll definitely be posting some of my stories on here as well.
Disclaimer-I do not own Barbie, Ken, The Jerk Magnet by Melody Carlson, or anything else you might have recognized.
This is actually a one-shot me and my sister wrote together before bed one night.
I told her we should write a story, and she said that it takes too long. So I said "Why don't we write a one-shot?"
Of course she didn't know what that was at the time, and I had to explain to her what it was, but once she found out she wanted to.
We were thinking of things to write about, and she looked at the apple I was eating. She said apples as a joke, but I made it work anyway.
Please favorite/review, and I guess I'll see you guys later.
