After she had let go of me from behind,
we had left the forest,
cleaning up my small campsite
and then headed back to the house.
I sat in the living room, silently
while messing with a loose string on my shirt.
She and Tim talk to my social worker, Ms. Finn,
Jacob sits across in a chair from me,
and Seira sleeps in her room, unaware of everything around her.
Kellen is in the kitchen making tea or coffee for the everyone,
listening in on the conversation and chirping in
every then and now.
Jacob and I sit quietly,
trying to listen in on them.
We both seem nervous, but
it seems like he looks more hurt than nervous at all.
He can't even look me in the eyes,
and that makes my heart ache,
for some strange reason.
