It was already the beginning of the school year, and Tsumane was tired. No. Tired doesn't seem to fit in this type of situation. He stared at the window leading to directly to the sun. It was supposed to symbolize the pride of the nation called Japan. Instead, all it meant to Tsumane was that the ultraviolet rays coming directly from the window were going to burn his eye sockets unless he turned away. The classroom was filled with chatter of who did what over break. To him, it didn't matter. All he cared about was that it was too loud.
Tsumane's father was very proud of his country. Mr. Ano has one of the most succcesful businesses in Japan. In fact, it was one of the most successful businesses in Asia. Mr. Ano owns a video game company, and not just any video game company. it was the ever most popular Fantasy Adventure game company. Mr. Ano would brag about it everyday about how great the game was becoming. Tsmane thought that his father's mouth was getting bigger by the second he opens his mouth. Mrs. Ano was worse. She already had a big mouth and would yap away, critizing anybody that she met.
"Your hair's too messy. You eat like a pig. Did you see that one over there? She has the ugliest coat ever!"
Mrs. Ano was recently trying to find Tsumane "a perfect bride." Utter bull. He'll be alone forever, but will anyone listen? No, of course not. His sister, Sakura Ano, wanted him to marry a Korean girl. She was rebuffed by their parents before sulking back to her room. Sakura embraced the Korean pop culture. If someone had asked her about any Kpop star, she'll answer in full detail. Any Kdrama? No problem. Just consider the Kdrama wiki online already filled with spoilers, so no worries there. Her dream is to marry a Korean boy and live "happily ever after." What a joke.
He was just about to skip class before his boredom reached its limit when the homeroom teacher arrived. He spoke in Japanese first, as the majority of this class was made of them, and then Korean for the remaining students. It seemed that a new student, a female, had arrived to school. He then turned to the doorway and spoke in Korean.
"It's okay. Come greet your classmates."
The new student shyly came to the front of the classroom. She bowed.
"Hello. I'm Kim Soo Hee. It is a pleasure to meet you."
Tsumane just scoffed. A lamb has entered the den of lions. The homeroom teacher smiled.
"Thank you, Soo Hee. You may sit next to Tsumane Ano in the back over there."
She walked to where the teacher assigned her to sit. the heads of her fellow students followed, as if someone moved a lantern slowly and all the moths followed with question. She looked at Tsumane, smiled, and bowed. Her voice was soft and very gentle, like a flower.
"My name is Kim Soo Hee. It is a pleasure to meet you, Tsumane Ano."
Whispers spread throughout the classroom. Did she just introduce herself to Tsumane Ano? The bad boy of this high school? Why? Is she insane? Tsumane took note of the whispers and stood up, getting everyone's attention. He then glared at Soo Hee before abruptly leaving the classroom.
The teacher sighed. "I apologize for his behavior. He always does that. Please take your seat."
Soo Hee did as she was told, but she couldn't pay attention to what the teacher had to say. All she did was stare at the now empty seat of Tsumane Ano, the boy who had just skipped class not long ago. All she could think of was when he would he come back to class.
Tsumane Ano did not come back to class that day. He only returned to the classroom to get his things as soon as the day was over. He then made his way home, and this continued for about a week or so. That is, until one day, the Lion and the Lamb made their first interaction over a very big misunderstanding.

A/N: Hi. Just letting you guys know that this story is pretty old (but somehow more popular than my other stories). I didn't finish it, but will one day, if I have the time. If you have any questions about this story or the Black and White Roses one, feel free to message me or to comment. Thanks!
2: The Problems in His Mind, the Answers in Her Diary (AKA The Misunderstanding)After Tsumane skipped class that day, he spent his time at the school rooftop, eating pocky and staring at the sky. Sometimes, he would doze off. Other times, he would just drown himself by blasting music into his ears. This continued for about a week or so, until one day it began to rain. On that day, he just hung out at the library. However, this time he felt nervous instead of bored. No, not because of Kim Soo Hee. She was the least of his problems. At least the gossip involving what had happened on the first day of school had died down. Therefore, he had forgiven her and decided to go back to class tomorrow.
What really troubled him, however, did involve girls. His mother's quest for the "Perfect Bride" is still active. She already set him with at least twenty blind dates in the past month. He sighed and tried to think of a plan before his mother would set him up with another blind date soon. But every plan he could think of could potentially backfire after a few days, and the last thing he needed right now was another punishment from mother. This would basically involve a cut in his allowance…WHICH IS WHAT HE IS SUFFERING AT THE MOMENT…. okay, maybe insulting his latest date about looking like an man was a bad idea (and pretty rude), but at least he didn't have to see her again. Unfortunately, Mrs. Ano found out later on that same day. In the end, he now has to find a new diet with his own money, which he didn't have much of to begin with thanks to his mother's choice of dates (Expensive cafes and restaurants, for example). He, of course, had to pay for everything. In short, he is now broke and currently facing a very empty stomach. He would ask his fan club to make him a lunch, but then he would have to face another tsunami of gossip and attention, so that's out.
He then remembered that he had left his bag at the classroom. The after school bell rang five minutes ago, so the room should probably be empty by now. he entered the classroom and went to seat in the back. Unfortunately for him, the seating arrangements changed during the time he skipped school, so now his seat was where Soo Hee was supposed to sit on the first day of school. Interestingly enough, there was a bag on his "seat." Tsumane wondered whose bag it was and decided to open it and confront the owner later. The first thing he pulled out of it was a small, blue notebook. Curious, Tsumane opened it and flipped through the pages. The handwriting was very neat and was in Korean. Suddenly, there was a passage of the notebook that gained his interest:
September 21, 2075
Very Sunny
It seems that I have fallen in love with one of my classmates. My heart beats very rapidly when comes near me. He is Korean, possibly from the northern Area. He is very good looking and is very well mannered. I wonder if he notices me. His name is Kwon Jil Pyong. I believe he is a class president, but I can't be too sure...
Tsumane was very curious on who wrote this. he turned to the cover and almost dropped the book in shock once he found out who the owner was.
"No way...that's impossible..."
He then heard footsteps and a worried female voice following after. He looked up to see a frantic Kim Soo Hee rushing into the classroom, panting and looking around the room. Apparently, she had forgotten all about the assigned seats on that day, so the "switcharoo effect" occurred. But back to the story. He pieced together what has just happened, what his current situation was, and the ultimate solution to all of his problems. He then smiled and held the notebook up to her.
"Let's make a deal. I know that we went off on the wrong start before, so let's start over. I'll help you with 'Kwon Jil Pyong' if you help in my current situation."
Soo Hee was curious of he wanted, so she decided to continue the conversation.
"Oh? What is it?"
He smiled and came towards her slowly, as if a lion had just found and is cornering its prey. His response was definitely surprising.
"You can make lunches, right?"
Soo Hee just stood there, with a puzzled look on her face.
"Huh?'
He just rolled his eyes and spoke in an annoyed tone.
"You can make lunches, right? I have a very personal matter that involves me, my soon-to-be-empty wallet, and my now empty stomach. Make a lunch for me every day and I'll make sure you get your man."
Even though his voice was filled with confidence, there was a hint of desperation in it. She took notice of it and felt sorry for him. She didn't know who this "Kwon Jil Pyong" is, but if he was talking about her character from her writing drafts in her notebook he was holding, then she understood his desperation clearly and decided not to say anything about it.
"Alright, I'll do it."
He smiled, maybe a little bit too much. But at least in this way, he gets a meal a day. That and she might serve a very useful purpose for later...
3: The Obento, The Doshilrak (Both mean "lunchbox" in Japanese and Korean, respectively)~~Kim Soo Hee didn't have the slightest idea on why Tsumane asked her to make a lunch for him. To be quite honest, she didn't really believe his story. But it was that hint of desperation that hit her straight home. She was beginning to doubt herself about actually agreeing to his deal, considering that she didn't know about her end of the bargain. "Kwon Jil Pyong" was a character from one of her stories that she was currently writing. When she saw Tsumane reading her rough drafts, she thought that he was going to make fun of them. That was a very strange reaction, she thought to herself. Either way, there's no going back. Besides, it was time to go grocery shopping again.
When she strolled through the aisles for her usually purchases, she constantly thought of what to make for Tsumane's lunch. She couldn't purchase meat or fish at the moment, so she couldn't make anything too fancy. She could make him kimbap, which is what she eats for lunch. Her eye then caught a discount for seaweed wrap and vegetables. She smiled. Kimbap it is.
Meanwhile, Tsumane tried to see how long his plan would work. None of this would have happened if his mother wasn't so persistent in finding him a bride. He would have lived freely and wouldn't have to ask Kim Soo Hee for a lunch in the first place. Speaking of lunch boxes, his younger sister was reading a cook book yesterday. When he asked her if she could make his lunch, she abruptly refused. Even when he promised her all the Shinee albums, she just turned the other way.
"Don't bring up that bribe again. You promised EXO last time. Leave me alone to my love life and go focus on yours!"
She can focus on what Korean boys would like to eat, but wouldn't feed his own brother? Some sister she was. Whatever. Anyway, as he was walking along the road towards his house, he felt a small rock hit his head. It didn't hurt that much, but it was enough to annoy him and actually turn around to see who threw that. He saw a boy, around his sister's age, who looked annoyed and was holding a handful of pebbles. Tsumane walked quickly towards the boy, when all of a sudden, he disappeared. Wondering if his eyes were deceiving him because of the stress he has been getting, he just continued walking. That is, until another pebble hit him in the forehead. He looked up to see the same boy sitting on the edge of wall top that surrounded the street roads. Tsumane was lost it.
"What the hell, kid?!"
The boy merely raised his eyebrow and jumped off the wall edge. Once he landed, he stood up and had his arms akimbo.
"'What the hell, kid?' First off, you don't talk to your elders like that. Honestly, what are kids learning these days?"
This was enough to send Tsumane off the edge.
"Hey! I'm the elder here, you little brat! Also, you don't throw rocks, whether big or little, at anyone! I swear, you are a hypocrite!"
The boy was about to comment on Tsumane's anger issues when a young, female voice was heard. The boy suddenly vanished into thin air, and Tsumane wondered if his hunger was making him see things. A young girl ran up to him, all red and excited.
"Hey, Sakura. How was your day at school?"
Sakura smiled and had a very happy tone in her voice. She usually had that tone when a new drama starring one of her favorite actors came up, but the last time he checked, the last drama she watched was only on its third episode.
"A new kid came to school today! His name was Kim Tae Yang!"
A new kid? That's why she was excited? Tsumane raised his eyebrow.
"And what is so special about this new kid? "
Sakura merely looked away, blushing.
"He's cute….I like him…"
Tsumane could only think of two reasons on why his sister would have a crush on a new kid:
He was Korean (which, just by hearing the name, proves it)
He was good looking, like the male protagonists in those Korean dramas she watches
He merely shook his head as he walked along the road with his sister, not knowing that they were being watched by the boy who threw pebbles at him.
…
After she finished her homework and worked on another rough draft of her story, Soo Hee went to the kitchen to make tomorrow's lunch. It was eight years after her older brother passed away in a tragic accident, and it had affected her greatly. She never touched any of his things unless it involved cleaning them, always having this belief that he was on a trip and was coming back sometime soon. She then saw his empty lunch box and remembered that she didn't buy an extra lunch box for Tsumane.
"I guess I have no other choice…."
She used her brother's doshilrak for Tsumane. After preparing the lunches, it was already one in the morning. She went to bed, where she sobbed endlessly into the night.
Tsumane, as he had forgiven Soo Hee for what had happened on the first day of school in his head, attended class for the first time. He found out soon afterwards about the seat change, but didn't complain as he sat in his new seat. Lunchtime came, and he passed Soo Hee a note as soon as he got up from his seat. When no one was looking, she read it.
Meet me at the school rooftop with the lunch. Make sure no one follows you.
-Tsumane Ano
She quickly went to the school rooftop with the lunch. She found Tsumane waiting for her (well, the lunch) as soon as she opened the door to the rooftop. He took her to a corner quickly. She handed over the lunch box and he opened it. He looked at the food she made in disbelief.
"What the hell is this? It looks like crap."
To understand Tsumane, one has to live with him for basically his whole lifetime. He was a very picky eater growing up, which is why he has such a sickly, slender figure. It's not that he hated Korean food. (He enjoys Korean BBQ) He just didn't like food that was mushed together. He liked things separately and in an orderly fashion. In other words, Tsumane only judges a book by its cover (food wise that is).
Soo Hee looked at him, very confused.
"It's kimbap. Come on. It's really good. Here."
She picked up one and led it towards his mouth. After a few desperate attempts to avoid it, Tsumane gave up and bit into it slowly. Suddenly, he ate the whole thing from her hand and then went for the lunch box. In a few minutes, everything had disappeared. He ate too fast and was chocking, so she handed him some milk that she also packed for him. He drank until the last drop entered his body. He took a deep breath and sighed loudly. He never felt so alive!
"I'll pay you back. I swear it."
She just smiled, despite her tired face.
"It's nothing. I'm glad you like it."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On the same day, Sakura Ano was nervous. She was up all night making obentos for Kim Tae Yang. After at least thirty tries, she finally made a lunch deemed perfect by the maid, who had the privilege of tasting every last one of her attempts and giving her tips to impress her first love. Sakura held the lunch box nervously. Not only did she do this for her first love, she also wanted him to be her friend. They could grow up together and maybe become lovers one day. She didn't have any friends before this moment, so she can't mess up. Even if the others call her a "Baka Hime" (Idiot princess in Japanese), she hoped that he would be the one to see her in a positive light. Lunchtime arrived quickly, and Kim Tae Yang was all alone. This was her chance! Sakura slowly walked up to him, taking deep breaths to calm herself.
"Don't mess up. Don't mess up. Don't mess up."
She repeated this over and over again until she eventually reached his seat. His head was down, like he had a headache, so she cleared her throat to get his attention. When he finally looked up to the source of the noise, Sakura nervously smiled.
"Hi…..I'm Sakura Ano…..I sit over there….."
She pointed towards her seat near the window. He looked at the desk she pointed at, then back to her. She noticed and quickly gave him the lunch box with her head down. Now, for one to know Sakura inside out, you just need to know what she does at home. As far as her obsession with Korean pop culture goes, she mimics the exact personality as a cheerful, yet clumsy girl. In truth, she was just a shy girl who just wanted a best friend and a true love. Anyway, the boy took the lunch box and opened it to find perfectly made egg rolls, small meatballs, white rice (strangely with a heart on it), and a salad on the side. He then smiled.
"It looks delicious. Can I eat it later, though?"
That response was totally unexpected, thought Sakura.
"Sure, but why not now?"
"Sorry, I'm just not hungry at the moment."
Sakura was a little disappointed, but nevertheless happy that he accepted the lunch. Now was her chance to ask the big question.
"Umm…I was wondering….do you wanna be friends?"
Kim Tae Yang looked at her curiously.
"Uh….sure?"
"It's not that I bribed you or anything! No! Wait! My timing was wrong! I was supposed to introduce myself, and then ask to be friends, and then give you the lunch! Or was it the other way around? Oh no!"
Poor Sakura, in her confused state, turned away in shame. Unfortunately for her, some of the other kids taped a sign on her back that said her well-known name. What adds to her misfortune was that HE had to see it.
"Baka Hime?"
She stopped in her tracks, her face red with embarrassment, and ran from the room and didn't stop until she arrived at the gates of her house. She left behind a very confused boy holding the lunch she made and a class full of vicious fifth graders laughing at her misfortune. She was called in sick that day, and spent hours crying into the stomach of her humongous teddy bear. The poor girl was so depressed until a ray of hope appeared at ten at night that brightened her hopes and dreams like never before.
4: Chingoo and Tomadachi (Both mean "Friend" in Korean and Japanese, respectively)Sakura Ano was a very pretty girl. She had pale skin from her mother's side of the family and raven black hair from her father's side. She had a very delicate figure, even though she ate a lot of sweets. However, she wasn't a bright girl. She might say the wrong thing at the wrong time and received low grades in school. Because of this, many of her classmates called her a "Baka Hime" ("Idiot Princess" In Japanese). She also did not have a single friend to call her own. But that all changed once she met Kim Tae Yang. He was her hope and dream of having a friend (and a first love). Then, this disaster happened!
"What am I going to do? Now I'll never have a friend… Oh! If only I was smart, maybe this would not have happened!"
She stared furiously at the paper that brought her humiliation. It was not just a shame that she was called that every day, but now he had to read it! She angrily ripped the paper into shredded confetti and stomped on it until the she exhausted herself. All of a sudden, she heard a knock at the window. She ignored it the first few times, but after a minute of continuous knocking, she went to see what was going on. As soon as she opened her window, she saw an empty lunchbox and a note on the window sill. She looked at the ground, only to find no one there. She wondered curiously whether it was a prank or not. She then turned her attention on the empty lunchbox and note and took them inside. She opened and read the note, her eyes widening in surprise:
Dear Sakura,
Thanks for the lunch! It was very delicious! I want to apologize for reading the sign on your back the other day. I do not know much Japanese, you see. However, I do not think that you are a "Baka Hime" like everyone says. In fact, I think you are quite the opposite. I hope to see you in class again very soon.
Sincerely, Kim Tae Yang (Your Chingoo)
The young girl happily jumped around her room. She now has a tomadachi! This is the best day of her life! She hugged her teddy bear in shear happiness. Meanwhile, Kim Tae Yang sat on the tree near her window, watching her hug her doll. He smiled before disappearing in the wind, leaving no trace that he was even there in the first place.
A/N: Sorry if this is too short! I appreciate any reviews!
5: Peppero and Pocky~~Over the course of that week, Tsumane had received a lunch from Soo Hee. He then decided to find out who this "Kwon Jil Pyong" is. However, "he" didn't seem to attend the school, much less in the general area. So who could he be? A childhood friend? An Internet penpal? A family friend? All this was frustrating Tsumane, so one day he decided to get the information from "Miss Lovebird" herself. That and, he admitted, wanted some company when he ate lunch. In this attempt, he spent the meager remains of his allowance on a box of pocky at the local convenience store. When she came and gave him the lunch the following afternoon, he opened the box and held it out to her.
"Uh….you wanna Pocky?"
Soo Hee looked at the box, then to him in confusion.
"Uh…sure?"
She sat down next to him, taking a pocky out of the box and started to nibble on it.
"Mmm….reminds me of Peppero…."
"Peppero?"
She nods.
"Yeah, it's the same thing as pocky, only thinner….I think. It's been a long time, so I can't really tell."
A long pause had occurred before Tsumane decided to break it.
"So, have you heard of a pocky game?"
She looked back at him.
"I think so…I don't exactly remember…"
He takes a pocky and holds it up to her.
"We both take one end each of the pocky and eat it together until we reach the center. Then-"
He realized what he was doing. He turned away so that she wouldn't see him blush. What am I doing? You can't play kissing games at this time! You need to do what you originally planned to do! Her voice broke his thoughts.
"Then what? What happens next?"
He cleared his throat and changed the subject.
"Never mind. So, there doesn't seem to be a 'Kwon Jil Pyong' in our school…"
Soo Hee looked at him with a confused expression. After a few seconds, she realized what he was talking about.
"Oh! About that…."
Tsumane stopped and turned his head to her.
"Yes?"
She took a deep breath.
"Well, he doesn't exist. I made him up."
He was dumbfolded. His expression quickly changed to disbelieving. She made him up? Why?
"So…you made him up? What? So you could have someone to talk to? Is he your imaginary boyfriend or something?"
He was getting furious. She tried to calm him down by trying to explain what she had meant.
"Well, he is my character…for a story I was working on…" His limit had surpassed at this point. "A…STORY!?"
His loud voice disturbed the nearby birds. They quickly flew away, passing them and into the sun. She nodded sheepishly.
"Yeah…sorry if you misunderstood…"
He took a deep breath and calmed down. He had a gentle voice when he spoke again.
"So…why didn't you tell me sooner?"
She looked down at the ground, scared of another blowout from the angry boy.
"Well, you sounded desperate…and hungry…..and I just wanted to help you…"
He looked embarrassed at the realization that he had failed to cover up his actual problem.
"Oh. Well, sorry about that. Anyways, now that 'Kwon Jil Pyong' doesn't exist, I have to find another way to pay you back. So, what do you want?"
She looked surprised. She hadn't considered what she really wanted in a long time.
"Oh no. You don't have to give me anything. I'm fine."
He sighed.
"Alright. But…"
He hesitated for a moment. His request would change the way he would view her, but it was worth a try.
"Do you…wanna be friends? You know, hang out and stuff?"
She looked at him for a while and smiled genuinely.
"Of course."
Author's Note: Hi again! For all my viewers out there, thanks for reading this. I was wondering what I should do with these two next, because I only planned up to their first date. Any suggestions would be great! Oh, I might not update for a while. I'm suffering from writer's block at the moment. Sorry for that. For the 'Kwon Jil Pyong" character, I am thinking of writing a story about him, but as Soo Hee said, I'm working on it. XD Any reviews, comments, and questions are deeply appreciated. Once again, thank you for reading! XD
