'Just put them on!'
'No.'
'Yes!'
'NO.'
Yang sighed. 'Please? I won't rape you for a month.'
'WHAT?!' Yin snatched the black and white checkered pants from his twins' hands. Yang jumped at this, then a wide smile crossed her face.
'You'll wear them?!'
Yin looked at the pants and said with an exasperated tone, 'Yeah, why not? What's the worst that could happen? At least this will keep you off me for a while...'
'YEAAAH! Now we'll be matching!' Yang jumped around, squealing. The mini-skirt of her own fitting, checkered costume flying up as she did so. Yin looked away. He slipped into the pants and threw on a black T-shirt. As he started to leave the room, Yang called him back. 'WAIT! I have the perfect thing to go with your outfit!' Yang picked up a long, black cloak. Yin ran his hands over the smooth fabric. 'You like? I got it especially for you!' Yang happily draped the cloak over Yin's shoulders, pulling the hood over his head. 'There! Now you look like you're ready to party with the Hallows!'
With that, Yang grabbed her brother's hand and raced out the door.
Yin stared at the large building. Bright party lights illuminated from within.
'Omg. It looks. So. AMAZING!' Yang jumped around as she and Yin approached the large party building. 'Do ya wonder if they've got pumpkin lights?'
'You mean Jack-o-lanterns,' Yin said flatly.
'Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Halloween isn't my thing, BUT PARTIES ARE~!' Yang bumped the side of her rear to Yin's hip, who instinctively jumped back.
''Ey!'
Yang winked at her twin, then hurried inside. Yin followed. Bright lights, music, streamers and cheesy Halloween party decorations covered the walls and ceiling. Yin pulled the hood of his cloak further over his face to conceal himself. Stealthily, he made his way through the crowd of people over to the snack table where he stood, unnoticed, in silence.
'Oh, c'mon~ Just one more time~?'
'Nope~'
Yin glanced over his shoulder. A tall, young man and a magenta-haired girl, who looked strikingly similar to Amos, stood a few feet away. The young man ran his hands over Amos' waist.
'No one will see us~'
'Pretzel?' Amos handed the young man a pretzel.
The young man glared at her. 'Very funny.'
'Love you, too, Dæmos.'
'OMG, YOU HAVE PURPLE HAIR!'
Yin turned his attention to a group of girls.
'Oh my god, Irba, my ears!' The purple-haired girl covered her ears, leaning away.
'Haha!' Irba laughed and ran off again.
Yin raised an eyebrow as he watched her bump into several people as she raced around.
His eyes traveled over all those in the crowd. Some he recognized, most he did not. A small group of about five Humans hung around in the corner, the said Irba raced around, all the while bumping into people. The said Dæmos followed Amos around, begging her for something; an annoyed Alexander and that freaky, dark, mysterious young kid that hung around him lingered at the opposite end of the snack table. High above the banisters, Yin caught sight of Amos' gender flipped persona, Avery, who gave his well-known death glare to the crowd below. Several more people he could not put names to, or describe, as the costumes distorted their looks, floated around. Damien as well—
'Yin! I so did not recognize you!'
Yin turned his head.
'You and Yang look so different!'
Approaching him was a girl with deep purple eyes and white hair. Though the hair and eyes threw him off, the facial features and voice suggested he might know who this girl is.
'Shion...?'
'Will you dance with me?' Shion smiled widely at him. She held out her hands motioning for Yin to take them. He shook his head.
'No. Sorry. I...I'm not a very good dancer. Besides, I'd rather not...mingle.'
Shion frowned. 'C'mon! It's a party~!'
'I'm not really a fan of parties... I like Halloween, but not parties. I'm only here because Yang—'
'Then will you at least come sit with me by the 'Fire of Hell'~?' As she said this, Shion made her voice low and scary, as if trying to tempt Yin. As it would be, it worked. Yin followed the exuberant adolescent out to a small courtyard, where, in the centre, was a bonfire.
Hours, it seemed, passed by as the two talked. Shion did most, though, as Yin tended to be very quiet and reserved. He enjoyed just listening to her, and, for what seemed to be the first time in years, Yin felt truly accepted by another. This girl, of all the people at the party, chose to single him out. Him, who stood unnoticed in the corner ignored by everyone else.
Yin dipped his head slightly, a smile crossing his face, as Shion continued to babble the night away.
