I am a shifter, or as humans call my kind werewolf. My name is Kenny. I am five foot six inches tall; I am seventeen years old, brown eyes, and reddish brown hair. When I shift my eyes turn a brown-gold color, and my fur is the same as my hair which is brown. I would consider myself a normal average wolf but as fate would have it I am not.
.~.~.~.~.
"Come here boy!" The old man shouted, breathing heavily as he chased me down the old dusty hall.
The old man was a hunter; of course he doesn't hunt animals like birds or deer. He hunted mythical creatures, like shifters for example. Shifters are people who turned into animals, I'm a wolf shifter, meaning I change into a wolf, and at the moment he was hunting me.
"No! Leave me alone!" I cried almost tripping on a raised piece of plywood flooring.
"I know what you're capable of doing and you'll look perfect when I stuff you and then stick you in my trophy case." He chuckled evilly.
'He knows I am a shifter, but did he know what I shift into?' I thought as I jumped down several flights of stairs landing in my wolf form. The old man ran down the stairs trying to keep up, but half way down his old legs could no longer keep up with the rest of his body and he fell the rest of the way down the rickety old stairs. I turned around and watched as his body twisted and crumpled half onto the last step and half onto the floor. I waited for a moment to make sure he wouldn’t get up before I slowly trotted over to him. I shifted back to my human I noticed that with the shifting I had done, I had ripped my cloths to shreds that laid spewed across the stairs all the way to the carpeted floor that met the incline.
"Mister, A-are you okay?" I know he kidnapped me and planed on killing me but I didn't want someone to die, plus if the humans found out then there would be a disaster for my kind. I felt for his pulse when I wrapped my hand around his wrist. I was able to find it fast and easily.
“Good he's okay.” I quickly shifted and quickly knocked the door down and stood on the porch.
I looked around at my soundings; it looked like a small neighborhood inside a large city. The sounds of steady honking of impatient cars that was from the big city rang through the neighborhood street, as well as the pedestrians walking down the neighborhood itself.
I quickly ran into the bushes barely in their spring bloom, I would not be seen by the people passing by with all of the color variation. I started to hear a couple voices and their owner’s footsteps coming closer and closer every second.
'Probably just a random person.' I thought as I carefully backed up into the bushes.
Once the voices and footsteps vanished, I stuck my head out carefully then I slowly walked out of the bushes. A smell hit my nose a very unique and different smell from the rest of the smells around me; it was the smell of a forest! The neighborhood was in a big city surrounded by immense forest, I calculated.
'I have to get to the forest!' I shouted in my head. ‘There might be a pack willing to help me get back to mine!’ I started to think of a plan to get to this forest, but I couldn't come up with one. That was until I saw a bus picking up some passengers on the other end of the block.
"Yes! I could ride bus out of the city!" I whisper to myself.
I started to pad over to the bus when I realized one crucial problem in my awesome plan, ‘I'm a wolf, and they would never let me on. They would probably end calling animal control.’ I flinched as I remembered the past events of my life.
‘I've got to find cloths, and change into my human.’ I mentally frowned. ‘The only way to do that is to…’
I hurried and looked around my sounding area. I noticed a family, a mother and father with one child, he looked to be around fifteen or sixteen walking out of their home, they were leaving, or at least I hope that’s what they were doing. They jumped into their silver colored suburban which told me they were leaving. I didn't know where their destination was but I didn't care at the moment. I smiled and waited for them to leave which didn’t take long.
I quickly ran up to the door so I wouldn’t be spotted by anybody walking down the street.
‘What the heck?’ I was surprised as I pushed the door open with ease, using little to no strength.
‘Odd ... Why did they not lock the door?’ I slowly crept inside being very careful and listening to any sounds that would indicate someone being home.
The front room's whitish grey walls were covered in many pictures, I presumed to be the family members that owned the house. The carpet was a shaggy rust color red. I noticed some stairs leading upstairs. I kicked the door shut with my hind leg and ran up the stairs. The stairs lead to four doors, two on each side that lead to rooms. I could see a door on the far left was open just a crack the easiest room for me to have access to. I did a quick and quiet trot up the clean hall to the opened door and peeked inside the room.
‘Yes, no one is home … or at least in this room.’ I whispered to myself when I didn't see any sight of movement.
I pushed the door all the way open and walked in. I shifted to my human and started to look for some clothes that would hopefully fit me. The room was light in color. The couch looked warn and old, the mini coffee table had some School newspapers and random magazines on top. The lamp shades were covered in a flower pattern. On the walls were a bunch of old pictures of a few bands and famous sports players. I saw the dresser and started to look through it. It didn’t take long until I found everything I needed. Within twenty minutes I had found a few sets of clothes and managed to try them all on but ended up with only one pare fitting my perfectly.
I looked out the window and seen the sun start to set. The sky was a beautifully arranged in oranges, reds and purples. I just wanted to stand there and watch the beauty fade into darkness, sadly I could not.
"I've already been here long enough already. The family could be back here any minute!" I shouted to myself.
I turned around and started to the door that lead out to the hallway only to stop when I heard the car pull into the drive way.
"Oh shoot!" I exclaimed in a panic.
2: Trapped"What am I going to do?!" I Trembled.
I pulled off the outfit and shifted into my wolf and swiftly hid under the bed with the cloths in my maw. Not moment or two later the teen that I presume this room belonged to walked in and kicked his new looking shoes off by the door.
"Jack, come down here please! I need your help caring in the groceries!" The boy’s mother called from down stairs.
"Okay mom, I'll be down in a second!" The male teen called Jack replied.
He walked over towards his bed; I scooted back further under the bed to avoid detection. The boy sat down on his bed and started to pull of his socks, throwing them on the floor in a messy pile.
‘Come on, I need to go!’ I thought to myself. Obviously not able to speak when I'd gone wolf. I felt the pressure of the bed vanish off my back that I suddenly realized existed. I looked over to see the boy’s feet recede out of the room.
I picked up the clothes I took, in my mouth again and crawled out from under the bed in a quickly manner.
"Okay, now to get out of here." I looked around for a good exit that would get me out unnoticed.
I turned to the around slowly and moved to the window. “The window might be my best option since it’s the only other way except the door but then the family might see me.’ I quickly went to open the window but stopped when I realized that they may have alarm. I looked over to see a little white box.
I let go of the window and I could hear someone come up the stairs again. ‘Oh no, did the alarm go off?! Do they know I'm here?!’ I shouted franticly in my head, billions of questions kept going through my head.
"I got to hide!" I shouted only loud enough for me to hear.
The footsteps kept coming closer; I swiftly dived under the bed once more. It was the boy, he came into the room. Shutting and locking the door, he then jumped on the bed. I had to stifle a cry that he'd scared out of me when the bed started to push me into the carpet.
The boy wasn't heavy, the bed bent down because of some of the slats appeared to be missing, thus making the bed sag a lot. Movement from the boy knocked me from my thoughts. The boy had gotten off the bed, and from what I could see he was going through his dresser. Maybe he was finding clothes for bed, maybe even a shower. I thought. I hoped the later of those would be right so I could think of a way out of here and away from that hunter.
"There you are!" The boy shouted causing me to jump slightly from fright. "I wondered where I put these." He pulled out a pair of pajamas, which caused me to quickly relax when I realized he hadn't noticed me.
The teen walked into his bathroom with the pajamas his left hand and shut the door with his right.
"Good, he's gone." I said quietly.
I pulled myself out from under the bed and started to pace around the room and started to formulate my new plan.
"Stupid! ... I don't want to stay any longer!" I pleaded to myself as no plan would come to my mind.
I continued to pace around the room until the water in the bathroom shut off and could hear the boy walk to the door on the other side of the room. I rushed to get under the bed.
"Ugh ... Water was too cold ..." The teen pouted jumping onto the bed and wrapping himself in the covers.
I felt a little uncomfortable not to mention little claustrophobic when the bed started to push down on me once again. The pressure pushing my fur against my back, I began to whimper softly to myself when he stopped moving. It felt very odd to have something pressing on my back and I wasn't used to it which made it worse.
Once he fell asleep, completely not shifting positions in his bed. I climbed out from the dusty cave like bed. The only source of light was from the outside street light and the green glowing light that sat on the headboard and realized it to be the alarm clock.
‘Hmm ... Twelve o'clock ... I hope everyone is asleep.’ I shifted and slowly unlocked and opened the bedroom door, with a small creak coming from the door hinge.
I peeked my head out and looked down the dark hall as I looked for any light that would signal someone being up in the house.
"Yes, no lights." I whispered as I examined the floor and not seeing any lights coming from any cracks in the doors.
I stepped out into the dark hall, my wolves eyes came in handy as I was able to see in the dark. I slowly made my way down to the stairs and looked around for any sight of people happening to be laying on the couch. I quietly walked down after making sure the room was voided of any living being. I hoped the stairs wouldn't make any loud noises as I walked down them that would wake up the family.
I made it to the family room and laid my hand on the door knob getting ready to open it and leave. That's when the inevitable happened, my stomach decided to make itself known and growled and the realization hit me. I hadn’t eaten anything since I was captured and I've been shifting from animal to human like crazy which also takes a lot of energy.
3: Caught
I was reluctant to let go of the door, it was either I leave and be sure not to get caught and be hungry or I turn around, eat and risk being caught by the family. I made my decision; I turned away and walked into the kitchen.
I quickly walked to the fridge, the kitchen was a black and white checkered floor with stainless steel appliances and marble counter top. I flung opened the door, hastily hitting the switch that would turn the lights in the fridge on once the door was opened. I looked at what the cold box had to offer witch wasn’t much. It had half a gallon of milk, some bread, Chinese left over’s and some chicken.
“Man …” I sighed. “This sucks … I’m supposed to eat enough so they won’t realize I was ever here … but there isn’t a lot in here …” I closed the fridge door. “I thought they went to the store with the mother asking the boy to help her with the ‘groceries’”
I walked to the cupboards, flinging the little doors open I hastily started looking for any food without making too much noise to wake anyone. That was until I spotted a bag of unbuttered pre popped popcorn. Not that nutritious but there’s nothing else better than popcorn. Right?
“There!” I shouted, quickly covering my mouth.
I started to open the bag, but stopped when I heard someone coming down the stairs. ‘Crap!’ I threw my clothes in a corner so it wouldn’t be seen next to the door, then I shifted into my wolf.
The lights flicked on before I could move to hide.
“Mom?” I recognized the voice to be the boy from earlier … the one I took the clothes from, and hid under his bed.
I stood there in my wolf with a bag of popcorn in my maw. My ears flattened to my head to show my fright and my tail was between my legs. I had been caught. The boy moved closer and I moved away, the bag still in my mouth.
“Come here I won’t hurt you boy.” He coaxed, still coming closer.
I still kept moving back till my rear bumped into the cabinets. ‘I’m so trapped!’ I closed my eyes as the boy reached over to me, but opened them when I felt him petting my head softly.
“How’d you get in?” He asked me.
‘Through the‘unlocked’ door.’ I thought, obviously not able to speak.
“Ah right … never mind.” He stood up. “You hungry boy?” he asked. “Let’s get you something better to eat than that bag of popcorn.” He walked over to the fridge.
I stood on all my fours and wagged my tail happily, my stomach started to growl to give emphases on how hungry I actually was. He opened the door and his face momentarily screwed before he closed the door and sighed. ‘Yea same here’ I chuckled in my head.
“Well … so much for that.” He walked over to the cupboard. “Hope there is something good in here … besides what you found. Mom hasn’t gone shopping for food yet.” He opened the cupboard and looked through it to find something healthy for the wolf-dog that was standing right behind him.
“Well …” He sighed, turning a can around “Hope you like caned turkey.”
My tail wagged happily, I was so hungry I would eat just about anything as long as it doesn’t involve onions, I hate onions.
“Okay, let me get the can opener.” He walked over to a large drawer and pulled out the needed utensil.
I yipped happily but quietly so I wouldn’t wake someone else … because that was the last I needed. I listened for the loud clink that came from the lid of the can hitting the countertop. The teen picked up the can and walked over to the wolf.
“There you go.” He sat the caned turkey down and dug into the food as if I’ve been starved.
“Wow, you really are hungry.” He said not really surprised. “I just remembered something … you might like it more than that food.” He pointed to the now empty can of what used to be turkey.
He turned and left the room. ‘Why is he being so nice to me? He should be yelling at me to get out…’ I thought. I sat on my hunch and glanced down at the empty can and let out a small whimper. Jack came back into the kitchen a few minutes later.
“Look, what I got!” he shouted quietly, almost a whisper.
I looked up to see the teen holding a large can of dog food. ‘Funny I didn’t smell a dog … at least not a very recent scent of one.’
“It’s dog food … I forgot about it till now.” He walked over to the counter again and started to struggle with pulling the tab that would open the can, which opened with a loud “POP” when he finally was able to open it.
“Okay, almost done.”
He walked over to the set of cupboards above the sink and pulled out a bowl.
“You okay with eating out of a bowl?” He asked.
I barked loudly in response, totally forgetting why we both were being quiet for the moment, which got an immediate acton out of the young teen. He threw his hands around my muzzle to stop any further barking. Jack quietly shushed me and we or “He” stood there, because I was actually sitting on the cold floor. Silence filled the room as we wanted to make sure no one woke up from my loud noise.
“You need to be quiet … you don’t want to be around when someone wakes my mother from her sleep.” He shivered at the thought.
After Jack was sure no one was awake he walked back over to the counter and went back to putting my food into a bowl.
“Okay, I hope you like it … it was my dog’s favorite.” A silent tear ran down his cheek.
I stood up, trotting over to the boy. I nuzzled his side to try to comfort him a bit before going to the food. I took a quick sniff and dubbing it worthy to be eaten. ‘Well this is going to be a first…’ I started to chow down.
4: Scared“I guess you like it.” He chuckled. “That’s great!”
I glanced up at the young teen then went back to eating. The boy steeped over the table and sighed.
“I wonder why my grandfather is so obsessed with werewolves?” My body tensed slightly. “It’s not like they exist anyway … right?”
I relaxed my body a little and silently went back to eating. ‘I have to get out, I need too right now. Things will most likely get bad if I stay to long.’
“So you have a family?”
I pulled away from my dinner and looked at him. ‘If I gave him a sign that I have an owner he might let me leave, Thus making my escape plan easier.’ He kept looking at me as if he was expecting an answer from me.
“Well I don’t see a collar so I think you don’t have one.” He said after a minute or two later.
I whined and ran to the door. ‘No, no, no don’t think that! I need to leave!’ Panic set in my body.
“What’s the problem boy?”
I jumped up and scratched the door whimpering. ‘Come on, let me go!’
“You need to go outside?” the boy asked.
I mentally groaned. ‘I want to leave! Not go to the bathroom!’
“Um … Wait! Is it that you do have a family?”
I jumped back from the door, wagging my tail. ‘Yes, yes that’s it!’
“O-okay then ….” Jack walked to the alarm system that hanged from the wall next to the door and turned it off. “Just give me a second …”
“Jack?” a yawn came from the hall.
I whimpered and ran into the shadows, hiding from the new guest that staggered into the ill light room.
“Uhh … m-mom what are you doing up so late?” Jack stuttered.
The sleepy green eyed, blond lady that looked to be in her late thirties walked into my view.
“I …” She yawned. “I should ask the same” She put her hands on her hips in authoritive manner.
“I got hungry.” He quickly lied.
“Then why are you standing by the alarm and why is it disabled?” She looked at him menacingly.
“Um … well I was letting him out.” He pointed over to me.
“Who?” she turned to the direction the teen was pointing.
I stared at her afraid of what she was going to do. I gave glanced over to the boy. ‘Why did he give my hiding spot away?’ The mother gasped and backed away as soon as her eyes landed on me.
“I-it’s okay he won’t hurt you mom, I promise.” Jack pleaded with her.
“J-Jack? Th-that’s not a dog, that’s a w-wolf.” She stuttered in a scarce tone.
‘My eyes must’ve given me away. At least she won’t hurt me … well try to.’ I hoped.
“Fine j-just let him out.” She turned around. “Then go to bed, school’s tomorrow.” She looked over her shoulder. “And I don’t want to see him ever again. You know how your grandfather gets when he’s around wolves.”
“Yes mom.”
I ran past the mother to the door, causing a scream to come out of her lips. I jumped to the door only to have it open and hit me.
“Are you okay Gloria?!” Came an old familiar voice that for the life of me I couldn’t remember.
Jack rushed over to my side helping me up. That’s when I finally recognized the voice … it was the hunter’s voice. ‘I need to get away from here now!’
“Yes I’m fine.” She answered in a shaky voice.
“Um wolf you should go.” Jack whispered.
‘Yea no kidding!’ I thought.
“What happened? Where did Jack go? Jack you okay?” he waited before he spoke again. “Jack?”
He turned around looking around the room for the young teen.
“Ahh there you … wait…” His eyes drifted from Jack, locking on my slightly swaying form.
“Werewolf!” The old man shouted in a voice I would not believed even possible for the man. He quickly pulled out a pistle looking gun from his back pocket.
“Grandpa no!!” Jack cried.
The sound of the weapon going off rang in my sensitive ears, fire like pain shot through my gut as the bullet made contact with my skin. I fell to the ground with a sickening thud. The light faded from my sight and I lost consciousness.
5: RevengeI swam no more like floated in a sea of never ending darkness. I had no idea where I was or how I got here.
“Where am I?” My Voice echoed through the shadows.
“You need to wake, you … actually, we are in danger.” A voice like mine, echoed exactly as mine had done moments before.
“How am I? Who are you?” I asked franticly as I tried to move.
“You don't remember?” The voice paused as if waiting for an answer. “Fine I will show you.”
A wolf, My Wolf padded out of the shadows. He put his right paw up to my forehead; his paw barely making contact with my skin. Within seconds my mind was filled with lost memory of the adventure that had taken some odd hours ago and I was finally able to sit up, but that was all I basically could do.
“Wait so I wa-”
“We were shot, yes … most likely with one of those silver bullets.”
“Well where are we?”
“You're asleep, which is the only way we can actually communicate for the time being … but on the outside, we’re probably tied up like last time knowing the hunter.” He took a short pause. “Now I need you to wake up so we can escape.”
“How?”
“Like this.” The wolf backed up and then jumped at me, successfully head butting me, thus knocking me back on the shadowed ground.
“HEY!” I was slightly taken back that I realized my voice didn't have and echo to it anymore.
“There.”
“Hey where did you go?” There was no response.
Light hit my eyes and I slowly opened them. I tried to sit up but found my arms bound in chains attaching to a wooden bed that I was laying on. ‘Well, at least he put me in a bed this time … too bad that he forgot I can just rip the chains out the bed … If he would have put silver shackles on my wrists, now that, that would defiantly stop me from ripping them out of this bed.’ I joked around in my head.
I swiftly yanked my left arm followed by my right. The chains rattled loudly which was preceded by the sound of splitting wood. After I had freed both arms I laid in silence to hoping no one had heard the ruckus I had caused.
As the sound never came I sat up, this time successfully and looked around the dark room. From what I could tell the blinds had been closed giving the room a nightly appearance.
“Yes, this would be easy. All I have to do is break this window and run … no doubt I'd get slivers of glass in my skin, but it would be worth the pain. Freedom is always worth the pain in the end.” I chuckled.
I jumped out of the now trashed bed and wandered over to the shaded window, but not before realizing I hadn't a stitch of clothing on my body.
“Oh come on! Not again! You shoot someone, chain them to a bed and you don't give them clothes? Where is the hospitality??” I said out loud.
I shook my head and opened the blinds. Blinding light flooded into the once dark room, I had to quickly shade my eyes to avoid being temperately blinded, only moving my arm away once my eyes had adjusted.
“You know … you're getting to be more trouble than you are worth.”
I turned around only to get hit in the face with something cold and hard, maybe metal? I hit the floor with a loud thud.
I opened my eyes with a loud and pain filled groan. “Why can't you just leave me alone!? I did nothing to you!”
“Well I'm tired of people not believing anything I say!” He grumbled angrily.
I did a quick little laugh at his irony. “Yea once they believe you the government is going to hunt you and me down then dissect us both, nice plan.”
“You're right … though that doesn’t mat-” A sound of glass being broke and the old man hitting the floor made me cringe.
“Hmmm … I might have hit him to hard … though I think he deserved it.” I looked up and my eyes settled on the form of Jack.
6: Saved
”Jack?? Wh-How?”
The boy walked up to me.
“Well I came to help you escape … Du~.”
“Why? Aren’t you scared?”
I chuckled. “… not really …with all that talking he does … I think I pretty much know all you can do.” He gestured to his grandparent laying on the ground passed out cold. “Now come on.” The boy held out his hand.
I gratefully took his hand and pulled myself off the ground to a standing position.
“Hey I can do lots more than you think kid...” I smiled. “ he won’t stay asleep long, so we should go.”
“You … he won’t give up so easily …” The teen chuckled. “You should know that.”
“Yea … you are right.” I agreed.
“Before we do anything though you need to choose whether to be my pet or my friend … Also um … I …. Well I’ll ask that later.”
“Um … okay? And pet?”
“Well um since we are walking outside … you haven’t any clothes.” The boy said trying his hardest not to blush.
“Oh … oops, hehe …” I turned around to be at least a little bit polite. “You got a-”
“A collar and leash, yes I brought them with me.”
“Good … I guess…” I sighed.
“You don’t want to wear it don’t you?” The young teen scratched the back of his head.
“No not really.” I looked down.
“Well if it makes you feel better, it’s not a shock collar.”
“Yea … a little.”
“Ohh …” The old man grunted turning over on the hard floor.
“We better get moving I hate for what he might do to us if he woke up and caught us,”
I shifted into my wolf and Jack put a dark collar around my neck, then he attached a lengthy black leash collar.
“Okay but don’t go to fast.” The boy said walking to the door.
‘Maybe I will maybe I won’t.’ I chuckled in my head. I followed Jack to the door and into the semi familiar hallway.
“So … I’m guessing you’ve been here before … maybe even caught before my grandfather.”
I nodded my head in agreement. ‘But this hall seems longer than it was last time I was here.’ I sighed in thought.
“Um why did you break into my home?” Jack asked walking down the wooden stairs, with me padding right behind him.
“Well … I-” Jack cut me off from my telepathic connection.
“What the heck?! The boy tripped, I ran in front of him to try and keep him from falling down the stairs.
“Who!” He got himself steady. “Thank you … did you hear that, or was it just me?”
‘No that was me talking … Me, Kenny, the wolf shifter.” Jack just stood there staring at me disbelief was written all over his face.
“I have telepathy, it’s the only way can talk with you when I’m a wolf. Otherwise I could only talk or hold a conversation as a human.” I explained.
“Wow! That’s so amazing!” He shouted excitedly.
“Now come on lets go already.”
“Yea.” Jack ran to the door and I followed.
Jack put his hand on the front doorknob. “Since I just rescued you where are you planning to go after this?”
Jack stood still, staring at me whilst his hand resting on the door waiting for his question to be answered. “Well?” He asked the impatience clearly in his voice.

.~. Point of View Change .~.
~ Shadow ~
“Why did the Alpha call me? Am I in trouble?” I asked myself I a semi worried tone. What? The last thing I want is to be removed from this pack.
I walked up to the Alpha’s door preparing to enter and face the wrath of him.
Before I go on I would like to tell you something about myself. First I’m a thirty year old wolf shifter; my fur is a mix of black and white. I’ve been mistaken for a husky once or twice by the people in the city. Second me and the Alpha … don’t exactly get agree with each other and how we act, in other words we fight a lot.
I took a deep breath as I readied myself for the worst as I slowly opened the door.
“Alpha? Sir, you wanted to see me?” I asked in a semi calm tone, looking in the dark room.
“Yes, yes I did.” A gruff voice came from the darkness. “I’m sending you on a small mission.
“A mission?” I sighed in relief.
“Yes.” Came a new female voice that seemed extremely stressed.
“Alpha?”
“Ah yes your mission is to retrieve this young Alpha’s mate from one of those hunters in the city.” My Alpha spoke again.
“Young … Alpha?” I whispered into the air. “If he’s the Alpha why-“
“She is not Alpha of this pack.”
“Wait the Alpha is a she?”
“Well yea. Can’t you tell from my voice?” The voice changed from stressed to annoyance.
” “Alpha then why is she here and why can’t she get her mate back by herself? And sorry but it’s not like I can see you, besides males are supposed to be the strong one so how did you lose your mate?” I laughed
“She would have to bring her pack into the city to help search for her mate, thus causing a war with our pack. She came to me since she didn’t want to start a war and to get her search done quicker. Isn’t that right?”
“You should take that back runt!” There was a grumble I didn’t recognize to be my Alpha’s.
“Why should I because it’s all true.” I smirked.
“How dare you!”
I was tackled to the ground by a well-toned blue eye, brown haired wolf shifter. Wearing a blue tank top and skirt. She looked to be in her early twenties, well to me at least of course all Alpha’s have the ability to keep a young appearance without trying.
“Get off me!” I struggled to free myself from her grip.
“NO, not until you take that back!” She grabbed my camouflage T-shirt and pulled me an inch off the hard wood flooring.
“Hey stop it you’re going to rip my shirt!” I tried to pull her hands off my shirt. “Alpha!?”
“Dizz calm down please.” My Alpha said in a calm almost exited voice.
“Fine.” She said in a low growl.
She shoved my back into the floor before backing away joining my Alpha in the darkness.
“You need to learn how to keep your muzzle shut Shadow.”
“Yes Alpha.” I lied. It not like I don’t try to keep it shut, it just does a fine job at opining up at the wrong time … almost like one of those humans with that one brain condition.
“Now go prepare for your mission, Elise is doing his trail tonight. You’ll leave in the morning.”
“But Alpha d-“
“No go by yourself and get back this Alpha’s mate.”
“Yes Alpha.” I tuned and left.
The shifter community is a little like the human’s, well at least my pack is. The shifter pups go to school, the adults go to work. We live in homes; with our own front and back yards. We even have our own park for us to play at. Of course one thing different is our little pack is in the middle of the forest. The only thing that connects us to the city is a long dirt path.
I walked back to my home waving to others that belonged to my pack.
“Hey! Shadow!” A small shifter pup named Sam ran up to my side.
Sam had deep green eyes and jet black hair. He was one of the youngest in my pack. His cloths consisted of a red long sleeved shirt and jeans. I can never figure out how he dressed in long sleeves this close to summer but he always did.
“Yes Sam? I thought your mother said I was a bad influence on you?”
“She did but I heard that the Alpha called you. What did he want?”
Oh how curious pups can get … its quite amusing actually.
“Oh nothing really. I have to rescue a Alpha’s mate from one of those clueless hunters living in the city.”
“By ‘Alpha’ you mean our Alpha?” The pup asked putting on a confused face.
“No an Alpha from another pack.”
“Oh really! What does he look like?”
“The Alpha was not a he, it was actually a she.”
8: Saddness“Really?!” Sam shouted getting overly excited.
“Yea, now calm down your drawing a lot of unneeded attention.” I shushed him.
“Sorry but how did her mate get taken? What does he look like?”
“How should I know, our Alpha never told me.”
“Oh … well it would be nice if our alpha ha-” Sam started but I butted in cutting his sentence short.
“I don’t care.”
“Sam! Where did you go?” a feminine voice called.
‘Oh shoot that’s mom … I got to go, bye Shadow!”
Sam ran the opposite direction returning to his mother. I on the other hand continued walking home.
I opened the door and walked into my quiet/ dark room. Most houses in my pack were always filled with the laughter of pups. My home was not, reason being that I haven’t found my mate yet. Truth is there are many shifters that never find their mate, it’s very common well at least in other packs. I seem to be the only one without a mate … we me and the Alpha. Recently I’ve been thinking I’m one of those shifters that will be forever without a mate.
I sighed as I closed the door and stared at the barren walls of my home. Oh how I wish I could have a family to call my own, and to fill these empty walls of my own pups laughing and playing amongst them self-happily.
I walked over to my couch and fell into a laying position. Truth is I only act the way I do to seem tougher, that and something’s I say just seem to come out without my consent.
I closed my eyes and slowly fell into a dreamless sleep.

“Well since your grandfather took me from my home slash pack. I can’t exactly go back, because I don’t know where to go to get back there from this city. But I can smell shifters so if I’m correct; there is a pack somewhere. Also I can smell a forest, so there is a forest near the city and I’m willing to put my life on the line to guess that this pack of shifters I’m smelling live in said forest.”
“Oh really? You can find all that just by smell?”
“Yea … is there a forest?”
“Yes there is a very big forest. My science class is planning on taking a fieldtrip there next month. But aren’t you worried about what might happen if they don’t accept you into their pack?”
“Yea I have been and what they’ll do. If I’m lucky they will let me leave, help me find my old pack or let me into their pack.”
“Yea I figured that but what if they don’t?”
“If they don’t they might try to kill me and or use my body for food …” I frowned.
“That’s bad. Why don’t you stay at my house for a while, your old pack might try to find you … and you won’t have to worry about my grandpa catching you. He doesn’t know I was the one who freed you; on top of that he won’t search my house. Even if he tried my mom wouldn’t let him.”
“Well I could become a pain to hide. But you’re right that would actually take a lot of stress off me. Though I’m not so sure about the part with my pack finding me… ”
“Hey cheer up and what is your decision?” He asked again.
“I guess I’ll stay for a while.”
“YAY!” Jack shouted.
Jack yanked open the door and ran outside dragging my unprepared body along with him.
“Owe, wait you got my leash remember? G-give me a chance to get ready!” I Panicked.
“Oh! Yea sorry.” He apologized and slowed his pace.
“It’s okay. Thank you for slowing down …” I said walking by his side now.
“Mom, Dad? I’m home!” Jack shouted walking inside.
“That’s good hun, where did you go anyways?” His mother called from the kitchen.
“I went to go get something.” He answered.
“Oh? What was that Jacky?” a male voice came from upstairs.
“The wolf from last night.” Jack replied.
“What?!” Both parents shouted in unison.

~Shadow~
A knock at my door pulling me from my peaceful dreams.
“Nea?...” I stretched out on the couch loosening my semi stiff muscles. “Y-yea hold on.”
I hoped off the couch and took a slow walk to the door. I turned the silver colored handle and opened the door only to be face to face with Diz; the female Alpha.
“Hey … Um …” she tried to remember my name.
“Shadow, my name is Shadow.”
“Ah yes … sorry about that.”
“It’s fine, what did you want?”
“Well I … need to tell you something about my mate … he-“ I put my hand up to stop her, she looked taken aback by my motion, almost saddened with a tint of anger.
“Why don’t you come in? I don’t want to stand. I just woke up so I’m still tired.” I rubbed the rest of the sleep from my eyes.
“Oh sorry about that.” She apologized.
“It’s fine, come in.” I ushered her in my home.
She followed me, I sat in the arm chair and Diz sat on the couch.
“I wanted to tell you more about my mate.” She started.
“Okay …”
She stood up and pulled out two photographs and handed them to me. I swiftly took the pictures and looked them over. The left one was a picture of a red-ish brown haired boy. Probably around seventeen or eighteen standing next to a tree, obviously unaware of this picture was ever being taken. While the right one was a photograph of a wolf with the same fur color as the boy’s hair. Again the wolf seemed blissfully unaware of it getting its picture taken.
“Are these him?” I asked.
“Yes, these are the pictures of my mate, Kenny.”
“Why does he look like he doesn’t even know he was getting his picture taken?”
“Well ... that’s because he doesn’t know …”
“But you’re his mate why didn’t you just ask him?”
“Well … you’ll find out later.” She sighed.
“Wait! You won’t tell me? Why should I go get your “Mate”” I used hand gestures. “For all I know you could be after his fur.” I growled with growing anger.
There was a loud whimper followed by soft sobs coming from the female Alpha.
“H-he dosen’t know I’m his mate!” She cried.
“WHAT!? You’re kidding me?!”
The Alpha cowered before me. Heh I liked the sudden change in who has power … although she’s out of her own pack … she really hasn’t any power over in this pack.
“Please !” She sobbed. “Please get him back! I tried to tell him! I tried! I was to late!” she fell of the couch and grabbed onto my feet. “I never had the courage to tell him at first … I told his parents that their son was my mate, they were extremely happy that their son was to be mated to their Alpha … though I didn’t feel ready!” She talked through her cries. “And I didn’t think he was ready ether so I told his parents not to tell him and that I’ll tell him when were both ready …” She took a deep breath. “I-I went to his house when I felt ready which was last week and he-he was gone! A hunter had taken him! A hunter had taken my mate! Please! I can’t live without him!” She pleaded as if her life depended on it …
Though it actually did … when a Shifter finds his or her mate they start to make a bond … you see a shifter by his or herself has only half a soul and your mate has the other half. As Diz has found this Kenny kid is her mate their souls start to combined and if that connection is broken for a certain period of time ... like two weeks they start to go insane and that insanity eventually leads to death… though once the connection is complete then you can be apart from each other. Though by that time both parties don’t want to leave each other. It is actually illegal in the sifter world to run away from your mate once the bonding has started, the punishment is usually banishment from the pack or in worse cases where one party has died from the other running away is immediate death. And even the Alpha’s have to obey this law.
“Okay, okay I will. But you better tell him when I get back with him. Not telling him is a crime punishable by death and I think my Alpha won’t hesitate to uphold that law.
“Yes anything! Just bring him back!”
“I will. Trust me.”
Diz got up shakily and walked over to the door the only sounds that escaped her lips were the ones of soft whimpers. She opened the door and ran off; mostlikey to hide herself from her shame.

“Yea. I-”
“He helped me knock out his grandfather. But he’s okay; he’ll only have a little goose egg along with a migraine…” I interrupted.
“You what?!”
“Mom I had to, it’s not like I can ask for Kenny back.” Jack explained.
“If he didn’t help I might be dead by now or still chained to a bed…” I mentally sighed.
“The dog’s got a point there, your dad is evil.” The father said.
“Drake! Who’s side are you on?!” Jack’s mother screamed.
“Well I’m Just saying that even though Jack attacked his own grandfather, he’s pretty ruthless for an old man. I mean what does he have against dogs?” Everyone busted out laughing, all except Drake. “What?”
“Um, dad he’s one of those shifters.” Jack explained.
“Really?” His eyes widened. “Let’s see!”
“I don’t think you wanna watch me shift… my clothes don’t change with me…”
“Oh I get it, Okay … well later then.”
“Oh no, he has to leave.” His mother piped up.
“Why mom?” Jack whined.
“Because I don’t want your grandpa to see him.”
“Honey calm down, Jack wanted another dog since his last one died. Besides what if-“
“What if I stayed in Jack’s room?” I interrupted again.
“Please mom?” The boy begged. “It’s only for a month.”
“Where is he going in a month?” She asked.
“My school is taking a fieldtrip to the woods next month, so we were going to wait for that so it would be easier to reach the pack that Kenny sniffed out earlier.”
“Why don’t you ask us?” The boy’s father said.
“Uh that’s what we’re doing right now.” I said.
“No, no, no, I mean why didn’t you ask us to take you?” He explained himself more.
“Well … we didn’t think of that …”
“Yea.” I agreed.
“Well any case can he stay?”
“I don’t see why not.” Jack’s father said happily.
“Mom?”
“I don’t know…”
“Please?” Jack begged.
“I guess but you’re taking care of him.” She ordered.
“Uhh… I’m not an actual dog remember?”
“Yea we know.” Jack’s mom replied.
“Then why … never mind.” I decided not to ask my question, the answer probably would have drove me nuts.
“Okay then let’s go to my room.”
“No you have to do the dishes.” His mother orderd.
“Oh but mom.” Jack groaned.
“No buts. Dishes, NOW.”
“Okay Kenny I’ll meet you in my room when I get done.” Jack walked into the kitchen.
11: Sleeping ShifterI padded up the stairs into a familiar hallway and into a remembered bed room, which was filled with Jack’s scent.
‘Hmmm this smell is a bit stronger then I remember… at least this time I’m not trapped and hiding under the bed.’ I thought jumping on the boy’s bed.
I sighed and looked out the window.

~ Shadow ~
I waited for the door to shut before I let out a sigh.
“This is going to be a long trip…”
I got up off out of the arm chair and laid back down on the couch.
“Now, time to get some more sleep before the journey.” I closed my eyes and fell into a light sleep. Only to be woken up an hour later by another dreadfully annoying knock at my door.
“Now what?!” I grumbled.
The knock came again this time louder and harder than the last.
“Is it that Alpha from the other pack again?” I groaned.
I got up off the couch and stumbled to the door.
“Yes?” I opened the door to a surprise.
“Sleep well?” My Alpha barged in my home.
“A-Alpha? What are you doing here?”
“Are you ready for your trip?” He asked.
“That’s a stupid thing to come all the way here to ask.” I commented.
“Yea well don’t feel too honored. Your house just happens to be on the way to where the guest house where Diz is staying for now. I was on my way to see her, so I decided to visit you to see how your packing is going. But it looks like you haven’t even started.”
“Yea I thought sleeping was more important than packing.” I smirked at him.
“I see well I must get going, got to see the Alpha and find more about her situation she’s in.” The Alpha turned around to the door beginning to leave.
“Before you go you should wait a while. She came over about…” I turned and glanced at the clock. “An hour ago. She told me some things and left crying.”
“What did she tell you?” My Alpha asked.
“She told me to get the shifter back and that she never got to tell him she recently found out she’s his mate and he’s distend to be the Alpha male of her pack.”
“Is that all?” Alpha said sarcastically.
“Yea that’s all she said before running out balling.”
“I see…” He said scratching his chin. “Okay I’ll let her be for now.”
The Alpha waked back to the door.
“Well I best be going and you need to get ready.”
“I already told you Alpha I don’t need to, I’m ready when I get my sleep.”
“You won’t get far like that you know.”
“Yea, says you.” I sassed my Alpha jokingly.
“Hey Shadow remember who’s Alpha.” He warned.
“Hey question, I’ve been wanting to ask this for the longest time.”
Alpha sighed, turning and looked at me.
“Yes what is it?”
“How come you haven’t told anyone your name?”
Alpha rubbed his forehead.
“Because all you need to call me by is Alpha, when and if I lose the Alpha rank then and only then I will tell the pack my name.”
“Wow secretive. You know secrets sometimes lead to the downfall of people.”
“Well it won’t happen to me, now I must go, I have things to attend to.”
Alpha turned and left, closing the door behind him. I laid back down; again.
“Alpha that secret will start causing problems if it hasn’t already.”
I fell into a dreamless sleep once again.
12: Alarms ... Hate em'A loud beeping awoke me from my sleep.
“What now?” I groaned sitting up.
I looked on my coffee table which had a small grey battery operated alarm clock, with a blue glowing LCD screen. Witch had a yellow sticky note attached to the back.
I got up, picked up the little box and pulled the note of.
---
Shadow,
I figured that you might go back to sleeping so I brought an alarm clock to wake you up. Remember one of our pack’s pups will be going through the coming of age trial. I want every one there, this means you!
See you there,
Alpha
“Why?” I pouted sitting back on the sofa.
I looked up at the clock. Eight thirty it read.
“Great!” I groaned. “Twenty minutes till that pup; Eli’s trial…”
Eli is one of the many pups living in the pack, he had just turned fifteen and at said age you have to fight with one of the other pack mates, winner stays in the pack. Sounds bad for the person who loses yes but it’s the way we keep the pack’s population low.
I swiftly walked to my bathroom. Turning on the shower to a likeable level to prepare the bath. After I striped from my attire and jumped into the steamy hot water.
“Why does hot water feel so good whenever it pounds on your back?” I asked myself.
Once done with my Extremely pleasant hot shower, I wrapped a towel around my waist and walked out of the bathroom. I shivered as I walked to my room from the frigid air blowing down the hall hitting my body.
I walked to my closet and pulled out a plain white tee shirt, then went to my dresser and pulled out a ripped pair of jeans.
I slipped on the clothing and ran out the door.
“I’m going to be late if I don’t hurry.” I shouted scrambling down the street, watching other pack mates run down the street just like me. “Heh looks like I’m not the only one who’s running late.”
> Time skip few minutes <
“Alright!” Alpha shouted.
I looked around, the whole pack surrounded two wolves and our Alpha
“On this wonderful day we have gathered here to whiteness the trial of our own pack member.” The Alpha paused. “Today Eli will try to prove himself as James here will fight to keep his place in this pack!”
I looked at Eli. He was in his wolf form, a small pure black wolf. Then I looked at James, he was a brown is red furred wolf.
“Whoever wins stays and who loses has to leave the pack.” There was a small whimpers throughout the crowd, most likely from the mothers and close friends.
“Hey Shadow you made it?!” a small happy voice shouted.
“Sam?” I looked around.
“Dude down here!” The voice shouted.
Alpha moved out of the way and the fight began. I looked down and Sam stood there.
“Hey shadow!” Sam shouted over the snarls and the pain filled yipes from the two big dogs.
13: Shadow's & Eli's Fight“Sam? What are you doing here? Where is your mother?”
“She’s over there.” The little pup pointed at a very plump, middle aged wolf.
“I see.” I glanced at her then back to the pup. “Why aren’t you over there with her?” A sharp cry made me look up at the fight,
Sam flinched at said cry then answered.
“Well I seen you so I walked over here.”
“Your mother know you’re here?” I glared at the small pup.
“Yes, yes this time she does.” Sam held his small paws up at his defense.
“Good don’t want her mad at you.”
“Don’t worry!” Sam smilled.
The crowd gasped by Alpha’s bombing voice causing both me and Sam to look up at him.
“All right!” Alpha shouted.
I looked over the two wolves, both bodies were covered in cuts and scrapes oozing blood, their fur covered in the mixture of mud and blood.
“Heh.” I chuckled. “My fight was more messy than this.”
Sam looked surprised. “Really?!”
“Yea, almost lost my arm.” I looked at Alpha again.
“Well looks like it’s over, Eli congrats!”
Eli looked up to Alpha, the other wolves blood ran out and over his jaw pooling on the ground below him. He blinked his eyes in confusion.
I looked over to the wolf sprawled out on the ground laying in his own pooling blood.
Loud sound of bones snapping and popping dragged the attention of the pack back to Eli.
The boy stood up, whipping the other’s blood from his blood stained lips.
“Good job Eli!” Some of the crowd yelled, others sobbed.
Alpha thew Eli a large green towel.
“You mean I get to stay in the pack?” He took the towel and wrapped it around his bare body.
“Yes.” Alpha nodded.
The teen wolf started jumping up and down howling happily.
“Did you act like that when you won your trial?” Sam tugged my pant leg.
“What?” I looked down to face Sam.
“Did you do that when you passed?”
“N-no but I did howl when I found out I finished.”
“Cool…”
Ilooked back up thinking about my trial.
.~.~.~.
“We’ve gathered here to witness the loss and the gain of a new pack member today!”
The park shouted with glee as I shifted my opponent Geoff did as well.
His wolf was covered in white-ish grey fur, while mine being pure black, hence the name Shadow.
Geoff growled as we waited for our Alpha’s orders. Our Alpha’s name was Big Tim. He was our previous one to the one we now have.
“Start!” Tim Shouted pulling his mate close.
We moved in a circular pattern, snarling and growling at each other. I could feel the strength emanating from my opponent.
My enemy was the first to make a move. He flung his left paw shredding the skin on my right arm. I howled in pain; he gave out another fierce blow to my muzzle. I staggered back; the taste of blood met my tongue. Anger flowed through out my body. I slowly looked up, glaring daggers at my deadly opponent. He shivered; maybe from the cold wind or from him slight fear. I hoped later.
I charged a Geoff, pain shooting through my torn up limb, I could no longer feel my paw. I hammered him in the head with my numb paw. Unbelievable pain shot through my once numb paw and up my broken arm. I fell to the ground, Geoff was growling as he spat out the dirt I had made him get in his maw.
“Is it over?” I barely heard someone cry out from the crowd.
I looked over to the alpha. He stepped out away from the crowd. No I’m not losing this!
Big Tim stepped back in shock as I forced myself to stand back up.
The pack gasped as I ran at the offending wolf, who was still too worried on getting all of the dirt form his mouth to see me. My jaw wrapped around his throat. I slowly applied pressure to his neck. Geoff’s eyes widened with fear as I went for the kill.
The Alpha quickly stopped me from doing so.
“That’s enough!” Shadow you have proven your worth.” Tim sighed. “Geoff! You los-” The rest was mumbles as I collapsed for fatigue and blood loss.
“Sh … Shadow … Shadow …” A voice echoed in my head. “Shadow!”
I shook my head and looked around for whom was calling my name; the park was empty.
“Shadow!” Sam tugged at my pant leg.
“Huh?” I looked down. “Oh Sam! Where did everyone go?”
Sam huffed. “Well while you were daydreaming everyone left.”
“Oh oops … how long have we been here?”
“Everyone left five minutes ago.”
“Shoot! Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I did.” Sam glared.
“Oh sorry Sam.”
“It’s okay, what are we going to do now?”
“Sorry Sam I got to get ready to find that Alpha’s mate, the one I was talking about earlier.”
“Oh … okay.” Sam looked down sadly.
“Sorry bud.” I patted his back. “Maybe next time okay?”
“Okay.”
“Come on let’s get you home.”
The walk to Sam’s house was quiet and uneventful; as the walk to my home was. I opened the door to my home and sat on the couch, rubbing my injured arm.
“Man that was a painful night…”
14: DreamsI jumped at the sound of the door shutting.
“S-sorry Kenny, I didn’t mean to scare you.” The boy chuckled.
‘It’s okay.’ I said telepathically and I turned to look at him.
“Okay good, glad you aren’t mad.” He smiled at me.
I sighed and looked back out the window. ‘It’s still early.’ I said to myself.
“You okay?”
‘Yea I’m fine just can’t wait to go back home.’
“That’s if the pack will help you in the first place, actually don’t wolves kill other wolves that walk into their territory?”
‘They might they might not… they are half human after all.’
“Yea maybe.” He sighed.
‘So … You have any clothes I can borrow?
“You don’t like being a wolf?”
‘I chucked. ‘Yea I like being like this. I just…’ I paused. ‘I just miss the use of my hands and stuff…’
Jack sat down next to me and ran his hand down through my fur.
“Yea but first.” He stood up. “I’ll be right back.” Jack quickly turned around and ran out of the room.
‘Great…’ I sighed when my stomach growled.
I jumped when Jack ran back into the room with two dog dishes in his hands, both full of food and water.
“Before you change I want to see you eat like a dog again.” He giggled.
‘Really?’ I glared daggers at his head.
“Yup!” He burst out laughing.
‘What next a chew toy?’ I asked not amused in the least.
“Exactly great idea!” He started a new bout of laughter.
‘You know I’m a wolf not a dog … so I’m not so nice.’
“I know but I saved you so I know you won’t do anything.”
‘Jerk.’ I jumped off the bed and trotted over to the two doggie bowls, taking a big helping of the dog food.
“See.” He chuckled.
I looked up and growled threating.
“That doesn’t scare me.”
‘Maybe I wasn’t trying to’
“You’re just saying that to make your ego bigger.”
I smiled. ‘I don’t even have an ego.’
“So you want to play a game?” He pointed to a shelf full of board games. “I’ve got a bunch of board games, if you don’t like those I have some electronic games.”
I nodded at the idea, playing something might help pass some unwanted time.
The games indeed helped pass the time, whether it was good or bad. One second Jack had gotten some games out, the next we were putting them back and getting ready for bed.
After all the games were packed up and put away Jack threw on his pajamas and snuggled into his bed. I shifted into my wolf and laid on the food of his bed. I tried to sleep but found it unsuccessful for half the night, for the life of me I couldn’t do it. No madder were I slept or what position I slept in.
Once I finally did fall asleep, my dreams were anything but pleasant. My dreams were always about me and my Alpha, each one ending in some kind of “accident” filling me with pain, sadness and sometimes extreme anger.
I was shaken awake by Jack’s mother. Worry was written all over her face. It was eleven thirty, Jack was at school and his father was at work leaving me an Gloria, the only ones at home.
Sometime during the night I had shifted, my body was covered with sweat and tears. The drafting wind blowing against my bare skin was successfully making things worse. I tugged a couple of layers of sheets over myself.
“Are you okay Ken?” She asked quietly rubbing my shoulder in a soothing pattern.
“Y-yea, I think so.” I answered back, not so sure of myself.
“Why her…” I whispered. “Why my Diz?”
“Sorry what was that?”
“Oh, Uh nothing.” I had forgotten she was standing there already.
“Well do you need before I go?”
“Some breakfast if you don’t mind.”
“Ka.” She walked out of the room.
The rest of the week went by the same way. Not able to go to sleep until the morning, being shaken awake by some family member right after having a bad dream with me and my Alpha.
I was not going to make it a month time.
15: Mission Start.~. Point of View Change .~.
.~. Shadow .~.
I continued rubbing my scared arm.
‘I wonder what became of Geoff.’ I thought.
I laid down and quickly fell asleep as I enjoyed the warmth of my home for the last night that I would be able to until I got back. When I woke up it was early afternoon, the sun was bright in the sky. I got up off the comfy couch with a loud groan.
“I should get some food then I need to leave.”
I walked to my kitchen; it was a normal kitchen placement nothing real fancy. I had standard appliances, fake granite counter tops and a wooden table surrounded by chairs.
I went straight to the fridge and pulled out the needed things to make myself a perfect sandwich, which I put together very quickly.
“Oh Garbage!” I shouted when I noticed a bunch of specks of green mixed with the brown in my wheat bread.
I walked over and regrettably threw away the sandwich and the whole bag of bread along with it.
“Well I guess I’m not eating.” I grumbled angrily.
I grabbed my favorite blue jacket and ran out the door to go to my Alpha’s home to inform him of me leaving.
I slammed open his door and both Alphas jumped up in surprise.
“Yes Shadow, what is the problem?” My Alpha sighed.
“Sorry didn’t mean to do that Alpha, and I just wanted to let you know that I’m going to go now and I should be back in a day or two depending on how things go.”
“Okay that is fine.” My Alpha responded.
“Thank you Shadow.” Diz smiled gratefully.
“Yup. Ka I’m off now.” I turned around and left.
I stepped up to the loosely used three mile long dirt path that connected the pack to the human city.
“I should have gotten a car last time I had the chance.” I sighed.
I started walking, hearing to the wonderful sound of the many birds chirping going about their day.
“Nah.” I smiled. “If I had a vehicle I wouldn’t get to hear such beauty.”
As I continued walking and listening to the amazing sound of nature I was greeted by another sound, this sound wan not so pleasant as the others. It was the sound of a stomach growling, my stomach growling.
“Dang it!” I shouted clutching my gut. “I should have seen if Alpha would have lent me some food while I was there!”
A smell, oh a wonderful and welcomed smell reached my sensitive nostrils. The smell was that of a Caribou which I hunted most times.
I looked to the left and then to the right to make sure no one would see me change.
“Time for what I was trained to do.” I feel my wolf rising to the surface.
I threw off my clothes into a safe place where no one would find them, then I shifted.
‘Time to hunt!’ My wolf growled happily.
I ran though the immense forest in search of my prey. Quickly finding the Caribou I pushed my body faster to catch up to the deer like beast who noticed me only a moment before.
The Caribou tried to move faster to get away from its hunter, but failed to do so as I was able to jump on its back and wrap my paws around its waist, trying to slow it down so I could go for the kill. The deer was luckily small, not saying I couldn’t take down a big one it’s just I don’t want to waste perfect meat.
The Caribou finally became tired after about a few minutes of unsuccessful running and fell to the dirty forest floor. I let go and bit down hard, severing the deer’s air way.
‘Well that was fun.’ I licked my blood stained lips.
It was at that moment another smell hit me. I looked around for the cause of the smell as quickly as possible. My eyes wandered the forest until they fell on a young, injured female Shifter laying on the ground, but I couldn’t figure out what her animal was.
‘Oh crap!’ I ran to the female.
16: InjuriesI picked up the unconscious female body, and then laid her down in a more comfortable position. After I quickly assessed her injuries.
I looked at her legs first; I mean what guy in their right mind wouldn't. There was a bunch of scuffs and bruises going up both her legs, but as I kept going up there was a big gash on her right thigh that went up underneath her cut up skirt. The gash was defiantly caused another animal I deducted.
I moved up her body, her shirt was missing pieces just like her skirt, it was bordering on the line covering her decently and making her indecent.
"Well at least she's alive." I put my pointer finger on her pulsing vein in her fragile looking neck. "That's good."
I picked her up again and walked toward a small river I had seen on one of my hunts I went on in the past. Hurrying I moved in to the water only having her head out of the water so I could wash off her blood easier.
I started too moved up her skirt for better access of her laceration but a feminine had grabbed mine and quickly stopped me from doing anything.
"Wh-what are you doing?" The female asked.
"Cleaning your cuts, how did you get these anyway?" I went back to cleaning her injuries only to be stopped by her agin.
"Werecogar, now will you stop?"
"You need to get these cleaned." I Groaned.
"Yea but not by you." She snapped.
"Come on now I'm only trying to help."
"Fine." She glared at me aggressively.
I went back to work and moved up her skirt, thus earing a warning growl from the injured woman.
"Do you mind?" I raised my right eye brow and gave her a questioning look.
"I'm sorry but do you have to clean that one?"
I scoffed. "Okay miss…. Um what's your name?"
"Anna, my name is Anna." She gave a confused look.
"Okay Anna I can amputate you lag right here right now if you want." I gave her a tired look.
"What!?" She shrieked with a horror stricken face.
"Well if it doesn't get cleaned up now it will get infected and that's going to happen." I stated.
"Okay, okay, okay." She cried.
"May I continue?" she asked, her voice shacking a bit.
"If you did it, it wouldn't get done right. Your risk for infection would still be high."
We sat there in complete upsetting silence as she thought of her options, which wasn't very many.
She huffed loudly, successfully breaking the intense silence. "Doesn't seem like I have a choice."
"Not really."
"Allright!" she hollered. "Get it over with!"
"Good." I groaned.
I pulled up her torn skirt; this time I was successful. I went straight to rubbing the dried blood off the skin as well as doing my best to clean her wound. However with Anna's squrmming and whining didn't make it easier for me.
"Anna you need to hold still." I warned her.
"It hurts!" She cried.
"I know but you need to stay still, you will only make it worse."
"How bout I slice open your leg and clean you up!" She spat.
"You know I don't have to do this."
"Why are you then?"
"Because you're hurt."
She scoffed and took a breath and tried to hold still as I cleaned her.
17: Love? Maybe?"There all done." I smiled.
Anna groaned and looked up at me with a tear stricken face.
"Now then, where is your pack?" I asked.
"Pack?"
"Yes your pack ... O-or tribe?"
"Don't have one." She wipped some tears away that had started running down her cheek.
"Um well then what animal are you?"
"I'm a fox and you are a wolf, correct?"
"Yes I am."
"What were you doing befor you found me?"
"Well I am looking for a pupnapped wolf for another wolf pack, but I got hungry so I followed the scent of a carabo and then found you." I explained.
"Wolves don't help out other wolves, much less a pack." She frowned.
"Your right but this is diffrent, one this wolf pack we're helping is one we have treaties with, and two we have been having troubles with the hunters taking our own pups. My Alpha thought it would be good to get the pup back and get rid of a hunter, two birds with one stone!" I laughed.
"Oh I see your point." She smiled.
"It's funny though."
"What is?" she looked at me.
"The pup I have to rescue is a Alpha."
"But you said pupnapped, if he's a pup then how is he a Alpha?"
"Yes well his mate is the Alpha female of the pack."
She chuckled. "Hmm that's a weird way to become a leader... he dosen't have the streight to stay Alpha for long I bet, he's still one lucky dog."
"Yea no kidding." I scoffed.
A deathly silence fell over the both of us for a few long minutes untill I spoke again.
"So since you don't have a pack or tribe, you must at least have a den."
"Yea I do." Her silky smooth voice answered after a few moments of hesitation.
"Good." I smiled. "Let me take you there."
"That would be great." She paused. "If only I knew where it was." She put her best pouty face on.
"You ... don't ... know where it is?" I asked in disbelife.
"A cougar chased me away from it."
"Can't you smell you way back to your den?"
"Well I was passed out to long, and the darn thing might be using my home for its right about now." She frowned.
"That's bad."
Out of nowhere there was a tug at my tail bone, and I could feel my wolves happyness grow exponetaly.
'He must think she's my true mate.' My eyes widdend at the thought.
"Hey Shadow, you okay?"
'She couldn't be.' I thought. 'Shes a fox, I'm a wolf.' I shook my head.
I felt another tug at my tail bone again, my wolf was very upset with me.
"Shadow?"
"Hey would you like to live with me at my home for a while?"
"What?!" Her eyes widden.
"Just for a bit ... My Alpha shouldn't mind."
"I-I guess, I Mean if your sure." She replied in a unsure tone.
"yea I don't mind at all." I smiled. 'I wonder if she knows what i know.'
18: Where are we?.~. Point of View Change .~.
.~. Kenney .~.
"Okay! I got it!" Gloria called running up the stairs with my breakfast.
"You don't need to rush," I grunted as I sat up. "It's not like eating breakfast will save my life." I said while she sat the food down in my lap.
"I know, I just need to leave for work and I didn't want you to be a sleep." She replied with a bored tone.
"Oh…" I said with a semi sad tone.
"That and Were Wolves don't usually have nightmares unless something bad is about to happen."
"hmmm." I hummed. "That makes sense … I've never had a bad dream before…" I took a spoon full of Cheerios and started eating.
"Yea, now I got to go I'm going to be late." She shouted, running out of the room.
Only a few minutes later I heard the sound of a car pulling out of the drive way and tarring down the road.
"Man she's fast." I sighed and went to work on eating.
After I finished I walked down to the kitchen to put away my dirty dish, but right before I made it to the sink the image of my Alpha popped right in front of me; causing me to fly out of my hands and shatter on the floor.
I jumped back away from the shattered remains of what was left of the bowel and successfully tripping over one of the dining tables chair. The chair hit the floor and broke under my weight. I looked up to where the image of my Alpha one and still stood. This time she was laughing but sound didn't come out from her person.
My vision started to fade and go fuzzy as I strained to stay awake.
"Alpha…"
She started to walk toward me. How funny it was for the mind to make things so real I thought right before I lost my fight against the fuzziness and passes out.
The smell of fresh pine hit my still uncontus mind causing it to stir.
Where am I? I thought a I tried to open my eyes. "The woods." A familiar dark voice said.
"Who are you?" I asked still trying to open my eyes.
"Have you forgotten already!" He shouted, his voice filled with disappointment.
"A Hunter!?" I started to panic.
"No if I was a hunter I would have killed you already."
"Then who are you?"
"Your wolf…"
I tried to open my eyes again and this time I succeeded in doing so. I was in shock at what I saw.
"I told you we were in the forest." I could feel my wolf smirk.
Everything was green with pine trees, almost like my home. Last I noticed I had gone wolf.
"How did we get here? Where are we? Are we home?
"Well I brought us here to help clear our mind. As I said three times now." He paused. "We are in a forest. As for its location, it's just right outside the city limits.
19: What?"who? But how? You never did that before, is that even possible?" I stood im my mind confused.
There was a small bored growl that came from my wolf.
"What?"
"That's because I never needed to take control..."
"Oh... I guess that makes sense..." I admitted.
"While we're out here I would like to go for a run."
"Didn't running all the way to where ever we are... Didn't that quench or thirst for a run?" My wolf whimpered.
"No... But I was also thinking it could help clear our heads"
"Okay but who will be the one in control while we run?" I asked not wanting to releace control over my own body.
"You, who else" my wolf metaphorically rolled his eyes.
"Okay." I smiled running had suddenly felt like a good idea.
I jumped off the mini hill I stood on and bolted into the dense forest.
So many smells filled my nostrals, some I couldn't even begin to explain, every single one so diffrent but yet so simular, as i took in the feeling of twigs and dirt beneath my paws as i ran weaving in and out of the trees and I felt the wind cares my soft pelt. Joy speread deep into my bones.
I only made it about a mile into my run before "she" appeared once more stumble and hit the ground. I slid a cross the forest floor until my muzzle hit the base of a tree tearing a pain filled yip from my throat. The pain was too much that I was forced from my form.
I slowly sat up groaning.
"Why is it only her?" I asked myself. "Why not mom or dad?"
My wolf scoffed.
"You know something don't you?"
"Maybe I do, maybe I don't." He paused. "If I do I wouldn't tell you. You'll have to find out on your own"
"Aren't you suposse to protect and help me?"
"Why? I already did... that's why I brought us out here" He did the closest thin to a smirk for a wolf.
"Your lack of worry for this situation tells me you know something, I don't wanna have to go through another night like the past few nights..." I whined.
"Well... I was kidding... I really don't know... I think it might have something to do with being away from our pack to long..."
"You think were home sick?"
'Maybe..." He paused. " Well it looks like clearing our heads failed..."
"It did for a bit... what should wedo now?"
"Go home?" My wolf suggested.
"Sounds good." I shifted back to my wolf form and took to a slow trot to my temperare home.
~.~
when I got to the house I was tackled to the ground by Jack catching me off gard causing my throat to let out yet another yelp.
"Kenny! i thought something bad happend, the door was left open and the kitchen is a mess!" The boy shouted in my poor ear.
'Sorry.' I said back telepathicly.
"It's okay but I don't think mom's going to be too happy about you breaking things..."Chapter 18

20: Home Sick"Come on, Lets get to my room before my mother gets home." Jack said in my ear while petting the soft fur that covered my back.
I nodded as well as a wolfishly possible and started walking up to Jack's room.
We were sitting on Jack's bed with him petting my back once again, the front door opened causing Jack and I to sit up.
"Jack!" Drak, Jack's father called.
I let out a small whimper as the boy jumped out of the bed and walked out of the room. I sighed and prepared for the worst as I too jumped off the bed and ran out of the room to catch up to Jack.
When we got down stairs Jack's dad was standing in the kitchen doorway staring at the broken chair.
"Jack? Son what happened in here?"
"I didn't do anything, I just got home and the door was opened, I thought something happened to Kenny so I ran inside and looked for him. After not being able to find him anywhere in the house I went outside to see if he was anywhere near by. When I got to the door he was walking into the front lawn…" He frowned.
Drak turned and looked at me. "What happened Kenny?"
'Well I, she...' I paused not sure how to explain my problem. 'Seen something that caused me to shift and tripped over the chair...'
"What could have scared you in the kitchen, you're a wolf its one of the hardest things to do."
'It's not that hard to scare a wolf actually and I… I seen my Alpha….'
Both Jack and his father turned to look at me. "What?"
'I got up to go put away my bowel and she popped up in front of me."
"Why?" Jack asked.
'I don't know…' I mentally frowned.
"Oh." They both said.
"Maybe it's a sign that you are just home sick." Jack's dad suggested.
'Maybe...' I sighed.
"What's the name of your pack Kenny?" Jack asked.
'Silver Tail Pack.' I gave a small proud wolfish smile.
"I'll do some searching to see if I can find your pack, what is the name of your Alpha?" Drak asked.
'My Alpha's name is Diz.' I answered.
"Okay." Drak turned and walked off to his little office to attempt to find my pack.
"Well we should probably clean up the kitchen before my mom gets home." Jack announced.
'Yea let me go shift and put on a pair of clothes and we'll start.'
After shifting and changing into a pair of Jack's clothes I walked back down stairs and met Jack in the kitchen so we could start cleaning.
"Well that didn't take to long ." Jack said dusting his hands off onto his pants.
"Yea." I laughed. "Like cleaning a broken chair and spilled milk would take forever."
"Well you did break the chair into bits and those bits scattered itself around the room."
"Yea but still all that took was a broom and a dust pan." I smiles and looked over to Jack who was picking at his hand.
"Darn it…" Jack said frustrated.
"What's the matter?"
"I got a sliver thanks to you and your mess... " He frowned
I walked over and took his hand. "Let me see it."
"What are you going to do? Do you see it?"
"Yea I see it, here…" I pinched the area around the sliver to bring it closer to the surface and pulled it out with little struggle.
"Owwe! Kenny that hurt…" Jack frowned.
"I got it out didn't I?"
"Yea you did."
"Then stop complaining it should only hurt for a bit longer." I walked out of the kitchen and up to his room.
"Kenny where are you going?" Jack said after studying his hand.
"To your room, I want to play a game." I smiled.
