What if? It's a powerful phrase. What if things turned out differently or events played out differently? What If? Well, one What If everyone loves is what would happen if magic or mystical creatures existed in the world? Well, that's.... sort of true. Long ago, when the Tower of Babel was under construction, a rip in reality brought forth the Mikazal's, mysterious creatures that came to Earth to flee their dying world. Problem was that the Mikazal's normal body could not survive on our world- our gravity and atmosphere were too much, but they are smart and have the ability to shapeshift, so they took forms that could survive on our planet, in the form of animals, living, mythical, or extinct- either one works. Now comes 1954. Humans and Mikazal's, who have been given the nickname Soul Mates due to both species essentially sharing the same soul, have coexisted for over 4000 years. Every human has a Mikazal partner, since it is believed that having the same soul together unlocks special gifts in both species. They are essentially the same person. But not everyone is lucky, as Jade, a poor boy living in the slums of San Fransisco, is without a Mikazal. His ultimate plan is to enter the Chaos Theory Tournament, a competition established during the Roman Empire's reign under Nero that is still recognized and competed in today, but the problem is that he needs a Mikazal partner to enter with, and he sadly doesn't have one. But like the Mikazal arrival long ago, things have a habit of changing overnight. Enter Luna, a criminal Mikazal on the run with secrets not even she knows about. When these two meet, they are going to make waves.
