The willow

Was a graceful part of life.

The willow

Was always accepted.

The willow

Was beautiful.

The frog

Was a hopping, icky, sticky part of life.

Was never accepted.

And was ugly.

The frog met the willow one day, and asked why it was so beautiful.

"Dear, me!" cried the willow. "It's just that you and I are so different. Society loves me, not you. I just can't explain."

The frog hopped away in agony.

The willow grinned with cruelty.

A girl and her father drove the pond one day.

They arrived, and stepped out of the car.

The girl ran to the glistening pond.

"Daddy, look!" the girl shouted. "A willow. So beautiful, isn't it!" The girl grinned happily. "Maybe I should take it, and plant it in our backyard."

The willow was surprised. But it's more fame, more people will adore me, the willow thought.

The father frowned. "Dear, it's just a plant! It'll die in our backyard, the condition's too intense!"

The girl waded into the pond, the frog catching her eye.

The frog worried. She just might catch me! I'm ugly! She'll kill me! The frog thought hopping away.

The girl still caught the frog, after a few falls in the murky water. "Hey, what a cute frog! He looks smart!" she marveled.

The frog nodded agreeingly. The father nodded agreeingly.

They took the frog home.

The frog was joyous, while the willow was an angry mess.
