Making a Cover

Hi Everyone, New to the site and most everyone has cool book covers except me. Any tips on what type of file works best to upload as a cover? Is there a preferred file size? Any info. on how to make a cover would be appreciated.

  • I'm not sure what the set dimensions are here, as I've only uploaded one cover, but on other sites the dimensions were weird. .png or .jpeg usually works best. If you'd like I could take a swing at making one for you, but I can't promise it will be that great depending on what you're looking for. I'm not a photoshop person, so to say, lol.

  • It would be great if you wanted to make a cover. You've read the story, or at least part of it, so you know what it's about. I was thinking about just seeing zombie shadows or something post-apocalyptic, nothing super fancy. Or if you have an idea you want to try, go for it.

  • No clue if anyone's still checkin' out this thread. .png or jpeg. However, for the hardcore GIMP or Photoshop users, they probably want to use .png because it can handle transparent layers. Makes things look cooler. For example, if you wanted a zombie cover, you could layer paint splatters over a zombie picture and then set the paint splatter layer to be translucent. Therefore, you would then see the zombies through what would probably look like blood. I love fooling around on GIMP with transparent layers and it's the main way I work on there. :) Let me know if you still need a cover for something and I can give it a shot.
