I personally can't get into it when it's about a prince. I can't really relate which for me at least is very important and has to be established at the beginning. if you put a future view prologue in first with only a heavy scene which leads to a well off prince practicing archery... well. now I would like to note that not everyone thinks like that, but judging from popular fantasy literature, most do.
