Chapter 1: One of the Chosen Ones

It was a bright and sunny day in the town of Statesboro in Georgia. Today is Thursday, June 16 in the year of 2013; there is a house right alone on a hill. There is a boy sleeping outside against the wall; he has on a black and white striped collar shirt with a blue jacket, blue jeans and blue shoes. He has black puffy hair and glasses. His name is Jeremy, an African-American who likes to play music and have fun with his friends, yet he's mostly silent. Jeremy let out a huge tired yawn and stood up to look at the clear blue sky.

"It's already been three years…yet I still remember that happy yet dreadful night." Jeremy says with sadness.

(Flashback)

Three years ago, Jeremy was leaving the front door to hang out with his friends. His mother, father, and two brothers stood at the door.

"You be careful now Jeremy, and please don't drink anything like drugs." His mother said with concern. Jeremy gives them a warm smile and says, "Don't worry guys; my friends aren't the kind of people who would drink alcohol. I have complete trust in them." Jeremy then turns to leave, "I'll be back, I promise!"

An Hour Later…

At Jeremy's friend's birthday party having a great time until a knock came on the door. The friend's mother opened the door revealing two police officers.

"Is there a boy named Jeremy Simmonds in this house ma'am?" the police officer asked.

"Why yes, is there something wrong?" the mother asks.

"I'm afraid so…"

That was when Jeremy stepped forward.

"What is it officers?" Jeremy politely asks with a worried face. The police officer places a hand on Jeremy's shoulder.

"I-I'm sorry to tell you this but…I'm afraid your family…has been murdered." A long string of silence filled the room.

Jeremy would normally say that someone is joking about things but he knows full well that police officers never lie when it comes to reporting a murder to the victim's loved ones. Jeremy fell with his knees on the ground and tears soaking with eyes.

"Pl-Please tell me this is a dream…Pl-Please tell me! Are they all really gone?!" he shouted with sadness in his heart.

The officer lowered his head and answered, "I'm afraid so. I'm sorry but telling you this is harder than anything I've ever done."

Hearing every word that the officer said causes Jeremy to scream in pain in his heart. He had never screamed at the top of his lungs before.

(End Flashback)

Jeremy stared at the blue sky; ever since that day, he had never talked to his friends openly unless they asked him a question. When his friends try to comfort him, he always walks away saying that he'll be okay but deep in his heart he knew that he died deep inside.

"Mom…Dad…Jonathan…Justin…" He said, "I wish…that I had died with you…but now…I'm alone…" But he remembers what Jordan, a good friend of his told him.

(Flashback)

"Jeremy," Jordan says, "You'll never be alone, because deep in your heart you made pieces of other people's heart that can never be broken. Try thinking about what you still have instead of what you've lost."

Jordan is a blond-haired girl with a long ponytail appeared behind him. This girl whore a lace overlay top with a blue light jacket with a knee-long red skirt and brown boots. Jordan is one of Jeremy's best friends and is secretly his crush. Though she is oblivious to Jeremy's shy crush on her, she always considered him a close friend.

(End Flashback)

"I'm sorry Jordan…but I…even though the band is like a family to me…there is only one family that is truly important to me." He states.

He was just about to make his way into his house, when the sound of thunder rang out. Jeremy turned, only to see black clouds moving in fast…too fast.

"Whoa…it was just fine a minute ago…" Jeremy commented to himself. "No…there's no wind…which makes this even stranger…"

The swirling clouds began to suddenly open up, acting as some kind of portal. Out of the gap in the clouds came a swarm of ravens, which headed straight for Jeremy!

"I hate birds…"Jeremy groaned.

As the birds flew at him, they suddenly stopped and landed on the ground. Upon closer inspection, the birds had blood red eyes, and their feathers seemed to be a mix of black and dark purple.

The ravens suddenly bunched together in a group huddle. Suddenly without warning, they suddenly began to melt into a black puddle! The sight made the crew cringe in disgust.

"Ewwww, and I thought bird droppings were bad…" Jeremy shuddered.

Suddenly something began to slowly rise out of the puddle. It was a black figure which seemed to have the shape of a man. When the figure was in full view, the puddle vanished, and the darkness on the being faded away, to reveal a tall man standing before him.

The man bore a black and purple cloak which covered most of his body. His eyes were hidden by a dark blue, masquerade mask, which seemed to have tentacles that wrapped around his head, keeping it in place. His hair was a mix of red and black, in a spiked design that flowed back like flames in the wind.

"Who are you?" Jeremy asks the stranger.

"My name is not important; are you the boy named Jeremy Simmonds?" the man asks.

"Yes…and what about it?"

The man smirked and suddenly appeared close the him and shot out his hand, grabbing Jeremy by his throat and lifting the boy to eye level. The man's sleeve rolled down to reveal the hand clutching his throat was a monstrous, claw-like appendage. Jeremy tried to head butt him, but for some reason he couldn't move.

"This claw here renders every man's ability to fight useless, so long as I'm touching the person…" The man explained.

Jeremy gasped for air as he tried to pry the man's claw-like hand off his neck.

"What…do you want…with me?!" Jeremy gasped.

"The power of the Elemental One…one of the most powerful weapons in the universe; its power needs to be in more capable hands than in the hands of a weakling like a human, wouldn't you agree?" The man smirked.

With that the man's claw began to glow a vibrant red. Jeremy struggled and squirmed as he felt the life being sucked out of his very body. As Jeremy lost consciousness due to the lack of air, the clouds opened up again, this time however, from it was a bright and powerful light.

The man saw the light and cringed, dropping Jeremy in the process. Jeremy dropped the ground with a thud and laid there unmoving. His body was then slowly dragged across the ground by an invisible force and towards the light. As Jeremy was dragged into the light's path, the man tried to reach in and grab him. But the moment his hand entered the light beam's path, his hand instantly burned and he drew back.

The man only watched as Jeremy's knocked out body disappeared into the light. As Jeremy vanished from sight, the light faded and the clouds closed up again. The man growled, "DAMN THAT MEDDLING TIME MASTER!" He cursed into the sky.

The man slowly walked away. He held his hand out and a dark portal appeared. Before he entered however, he turned back up at the sky and sneered.

"No matter…there are still four more people I can kill: Cameron Brown, Micah Kartchner, Layne Rackleff, and Jordan Smith!"

With that the man sneered up at the sky a final time before disappearing into the portal.

Chapter 2: The Four Holders of the Elements of Nature

At Micah's House…

Micah is one of Jeremy's best friends; he is white skinned with straight black hair. Micah however is sleeping until his big sister Karina came along. She isn't entirely amused by her brother's lazy attitude.

"Micah…Hey…Micah?" Karina sighed. "WAKE UP!"

Karina growled as she smacked the wall with her fist, waking Micah up instantly. Poor Micah then ended up falling off his bed, and face planting onto the floor.

"Ok Karina, you got my attention…" Micah said, his voice was muffled as he lay on the floor.

Karina just sighed "Look Micah, You've done nothing but sleep, at least try and do something productive with your time…" Karina scolded.

Micah looked up at Karina, eyes still a little droopy from sleep. At last Micah got to his lanky feet and walked out to the patio of his house where his father, Eric, sat.

"What's the matter Micah?" He asked.

"Karina woke me up…"Micah groaned "All because I slept for a bit…"

"Micah, it's already 4:00 in the afternoon!" Eric pointed out.

Micah just sighed letting his black hair flap in the wind.

"I can't help it, I'm bored!" Micah complained. "Nothing ever exciting happens!"

Eric looked at his in utter shock.

"Are you kidding!? Two months ago, you and the marching band became the Marching Band Champions! How is that not exciting?" Eric cried in shock.

Micah looked at him in confusion before simply shrugging. Eric just sighed in frustration; Micah was one of the best marchers in Statesboro High, though he could be a major airhead at times.

"Look Micah, I can't help you… Why don't you go and see if you can do something productive…"Eric suggested.

Micah gave him in exasperated look. Micah then sighed and went for a walk, though he didn't want to do anything, but it was better than doing nothing.

"Why am I even doing this?" Micah asked himself.

After a few minutes of searching, Micah gave up and went back home. He was just about to make his way back down to Karina, when the sound of thunder rang out. Micah turned, only to see black clouds moving in fast…too fast.

"Whoa…it was just fine a minuete ago…" Micah commented to himself.

Back in the house, the rest of the family had taken notice of the sudden change in weather. Maitilde, Micah's little sister, was especially worried.

"Th-This doesn't look too good guys…" Maitilde stammered.

"I don't get it; it was so nice a second ago, what happened?" Karina said in confusion.

"I'll go tell Agatha and Jacob…" Eric said before disappearing inside the ship.

Karina, Micah, and Maitilde looked out in the distance, only to spot that the black clouds began to swirl around fast.

"Is it a cyclone!?" Maitilde cried frantically.

"No…there's no wind…which makes this even stranger…" Karina pointed out.

The swirling clouds began to suddenly open up, acting as some kind of portal. Out of the gap in the clouds came a swarm of ravens, which headed straight for the house! Eric, Agatha, Jacob, and came out on floor just in time to see the ravens coming at them.

"I hate birds…"Agatha groaned.

As the birds flew at them, they suddenly stopped and landed on the floor. Upon closer inspection, the birds had blood red eyes, and their feathers seemed to be a mix of black and dark purple.

The ravens suddenly bunched together in a group huddle. Suddenly without warning, they suddenly began to melt into a black puddle! The sight made the family cringe in disgust.

"Ewwww, and I thought bird droppings were bad…" Eric shuddered.

Suddenly something began to slowly rise out of the puddle. It was a black figure which seemed to have the shape of a man. When the figure was in full view, the puddle vanished, and the darkness on the being faded away, to reveal a tall man standing before them.

The man bore a black and purple cloak which covered most of his body. His eyes were hidden by a dark blue, masquerade mask, which seemed to have tentacles that wrapped around his head, keeping it in place. His hair was a mix of red and black, in a spiked design that flowed back like flames in the wind.

After much silence, Jacob finally spoke up.

"Who are you?" Jacob asked angrily.

The man looked at the group and smiled an evil smile.

"My name is of no importance." He said.

"What do you want?" Karina stepped in.

"I seek the one named Micah Kartchner…" He replied calmly. "Relinquish him to me, and your deaths shall be quick and painless"

That was the sign that their visitor wasn't friendly at all. The man looked over the family before up roaring in laughter.

"What's so funny?" Micah asked.

The man finally stopped laughing and flashed another evil smile.

"While it is true you outnumber me, that is something can easily be remedied…"

With that said, the man snapped his fingers, and the wind began to pick up. A powerful gale of wind blasted across the ground, which seemed to effect all but Micah.

The clouds above them began to open up, and a massive swirling vortex was seen. Without warning, the wind increased in strength, and all but Micah was dragged off the ground and towards the vortex.

"MICAH!" The people screamed as one by one they were sucked inside the vortex.

Micah gaped in awe and fear as he watched his family, and the vortex disappear. The man bellowed in laughter as Micah dropped to his knees, the realization that his family were gone began to set in. As the man's laughter died down, Micah's anger began to flare up.

"Well, now that THAT little matter is settled, let's get down to business…"The man smirked.

Micah stood back up again and turned to face the man, with an enraged look on his face. "Bring, my family back, NOW!" Micah ordered angrily.

"Your family, are in my dominion now. You'll never see them again." The man replied coolly. "But rest assured, you won't feel any sadness, for you will be dead."

The man smirked and suddenly shot out his hand, grabbing Micah by his throat and lifting the boy to eye level. His sleeve rolled down to reveal the hand clutching his throat was a monstrous, claw-like appendage. Micah head butt him, but for some reason his feels so weak.

"This claw here renders every man's ability to fight useless, so long as I'm touching the user…" The man explained.

Micah gasped for air as he tried to pry the man's claw-like hand off his neck.

"What…do you want…with me?!" Micah gasped.

"The power of the Flame Prince…one of the most powerful elements in the universe; its power needs to be in more capable hands than in the hands of a weakling like a human, wouldn't you agree?" The man smirked. "Though I did plan on getting all of the elemental powers form the other boy but, he proved to be a weakling."

With that the man's claw began to glow a pulsating green. Micah struggled and squirmed as he felt the life being sucked out of his very body. As Micah lost consciousness due to the lack of air, the clouds opened up again, this time however, from it was a bright and powerful light.

The man saw the light and cringed, dropping Micah in the process. Micah dropped the ground with a thud and laid there unmoving. His body was then slowly dragged across the ground by an invisible force and towards the light. As Micah was dragged into the light's path, the man tried to reach in and grab him. But the moment his hand entered the light beam's path, his hand instantly burned and he drew back. The man sneered up at the sky a final time before disappearing into the portal.

Elsewhere in Statesboro…

These five girls are Jeremy's best friends; they once helped him come out of his shy zone and made him into a friendly person. Layne is a blond-haired girl with a gray shirt with a number "7" on it and blue jeans.

"Thanks for buying the chocolate Anna!" Coleen, Katelyn, and Danielle smiled as they ate.

"I know the owner of the candy store…so it's no big deal…" Anna replied.

Layne didn't reply, she just sat there quietly eating as she appeared to be in her own world.

"Hey! Layne!" Katelyn yelled. "You could at LEAST say thanks!"

"Oh! Sorry girls…Thanks Anna…" She said before resuming her eating.

Layne hasn't been herself since the unfortunate events of Jeremy's family murder. She began to have nightmares of Jeremy suffering in pain since his heart has shattered. But it was then that they heard a loud crash of thunder.

"A storm?" Danielle asked.

"But it was so nice out…" Coleen said.

Layne looked up at the sky with interest. She then noticed dark clouds gathering.

"Clouds are coming in…fast." She said. "We should go…."

Katelyn then looked up and saw the clouds were actually starting to swirl!

"The clouds…their swirling!" Katelyn said. "Could it be a tornado?"

"But…there's no wind…" Anna pointed out.

The swirling clouds suddenly opened up, with a red light shimmering out as if it were a portal. From the portal suddenly came a flock of ravens which flew down towards the three ninja's.

"B..Birds?" Layne cried.

The ravens flew down to them, but just landed on the ground before them. The raven's just stood there, cawing every now and then.

"What the…"

Suddenly the birds actually began to melt! All three took a step back as they melted into a dark puddle which formed in one area. The dark puddle then rippled as something began to rise out of it. They all looked on as the menacing woman figure rise out of the puddle and faced them.

"Who is the one named Layne?" she asked.

"What's it to you?" Layne asked, crossing her arms.

"I'm in need of his abilities…" she explained "Just tell me which one of you is Layne… and I promise your deaths will be quick and painless…"

The five girls then knew that this person was NOT friendly. Layne stepped forward.

"I'm Layne! You better not hurt my friends!"

"Then let's begin, young lady…" she replied.

She then raised her hand to the sky and the clouds opened up again. Katelyn, Anna, Coleen and Danielle felt some kind of force around them before they both were suddenly pulled into the sky by some unknown force, and dragged into the clouds.

"LAYNE!" They both cried.

" KATELYN, ANNA, COLEEN, DANIELLE!" Layne cried out.

Layne watched in shock and horror her friends disappeared in the clouds. The clouds then closed up again and the woman laughed.

"Well, now that I've disposed of those four… let's finish this…" The woman smirked.

The woman then shot her clawed hand out and grabbed Layne by the throat

"ERGH! What the heck!?" Layne cried as she struggled to get out of her grasp.

The woman's claw began to glow a vivacious blue. Layne gasped as she suddenly felt the life being sucked out of her.

"What….do you…want from me?" Layne croaked out as the life drained from her.

"Your stronger then you think you are…" the woman replied "I want your power…"

As Layne felt the energy being sucked from her, the clouds above her slowly opened up, and a light suddenly beamed down on the woman and Layne. The woman screamed in pain, and dropped Layne while backing away from the light, as the light burned her.

Layne lay motionless on the ground as the light seemed to slowly lift her and yank her into the clouds, where she was sucked into a strange portal. All the woman could do was to scream in anger as Layne disappeared.

In a Dark Castle…

The robed figures are called to a meeting. One of them sat on a throne showing that he is the leader.

"So…did you retrieve your own targets?" the robed leader asks his minions.

"No sir," the robed man answered, "The Time Master stopped all of us before we completed out mission."

The robed leader slammed his fist of the arm rest in anger as he rubs his shown chin in thought.

One lady robed figure spoke up, "But we did capture the target's loved ones. Each of them are at our mercy. The chosen ones will come to rescue them."

The robed leader smiled at the thought, "Well done all of you…I'll keep tabs on the heroes then since The Time Master is involved…Head back to your quarters and await further instructions!"

"Yes Master!"

All of the robed men and women left while the leader chuckled, "Hear me you fool of a master. You may have gathered the five noble hearts, but this is far from over! I WILL take this universe in the name of "The Black Demon"!"
