The Lady at the Lake

I met a lady today, down by the lake where my mommy used to take me every summer's night to
watch the fire flies dance in the wind.
This wasn't the first time I've seen her. She's always there, she never speaks to me.
She just silently stands on the other side of the lake and stares down into it, she doesn't even
watch the fire flies. My mommy told me to never go to the lake alone but I can't stop.
I go on the nights I can't sleep, I'll wake up and quietly head out to the same spot and there
I'll watch as the fire flies do their dance. I hope Mommy doesn't worry about me..

Today I saw the lady again and I got a better look at her. She is so pretty, like mother.
Her hair is much longer though..it covers most of her face but I know she is pretty.
Her eyes looked right at me and she stared for just a few minutes. She probaly finds it odd that
I'm just a small child all alone at the lake..but Mommy doesn't come with me anymore.

The lady smiled at me. I don't know why but when she did..I felt safe.
I was sitting by the lake but there were no fire flies tonight. I was sad, I wanted to see their bright dance.
I ended up crying, I didn't mean to. I was just upset. When I did, the lady looked up at me.
I thought she would be mad I interuppted her but all she did was smile.

I talked to the lady today. Her voice is so warm, like mommies. She told me she knew my mommy.
We mostly talked about mommy and she asked about me. I told her I was 6 years old. Then she told
me on how she never got a chance to have any children of her own. I asked why but she didn't answer
me, I think she was to busy watching the fire flies.

The lady told me more about herself today. She says she comes to the lake often, it brings back
memories of a long time ago for her. I asked her to tell me more but she didn't say much.
Just she used to come to the lake for the same reason I did, to see the fire flies dance above the
lakes water. The lady told me one time something bad had happened to her at the lake but I forgot
what she said it was, a frog hopped by and caught my attention. I hope she isn't mad at me.
Then she told me something i didn't understand, she says she was going to see mother after
watching the fire flies and asked if I'd like to go. I told her I couldn't, if I waited to late father might be
mad at me for climbing out my window to go see the fire flies..but I wonder where she was meeting mother at.

~

The lady told me how much mommy misses me. I felt happy hearing it, I missed mommy too,..
We watched the fire flies together then she asked if I was ready to go see mother.
I wasn't..Mommy, please don't be mad at me. I'll see you soon, okay?

~

All the lady ask me is if Im ready to go see mother..but i'm not sure if i am.
She says if I go with her to see mother, I won't see daddy for a long, long time.
He would miss me if I just left him like that but I haven't seen Mommy in a long time. The last
time I saw her she was sick, the lady said mommy was feeling a lot better now. I'm glad.
But I don't know what she meant when she said we'd have to go in to the lake to see mommy..
maybe we're taking a boat.

I left Father a note in my room on my bed. I hope he doesn't worry about me..
I'm about to go meet the lady at the lake. She said we can watch the fire flies all night! Then after
that she promised to take me to see Mommy I really miss her..The last time I saw her Daddy was crying.
I think she made him mad..I'm going to tell her Father isn't mad anymore and he really misses her.
He always holds a picture of her at night after he tucks me in. He doesn't know that I've seen, I've even
seen him lay down and stare at it til he falls asleep. I hope Daddy doesn't get mad when I tell Mommy..
I'm going to ask Mommy to come home with me, We can be a family again!

"Daddy
Please don't be mad but I met Mommys friend and she said she knew where mommy was!
Then she said she would take me to see her! I know you really miss mommy..I do to.
So, I'm going to ask mommy to come back home. The lady said mommy isn't sick anymore!
I told you the doctor was lying! He said she wouldn't get better but she did. My mommy is pretty and
strong, just like you! I hope I'm not gone long but I know I'll be okay aslong as I with mommy.
So don't worry about me. I'll bring mommy home!
       Love you Daddy. "
