Prologue

Prologue:

Things happen. Maybe they happen for a reason. Maybe they just happen, for no reason whatsoever. The point is, things happen. Maybe we have control over what happen. Maybe we don't. What we do have control over is what happen next. If something bad happen, we can't let that one bad thing control our life. We can either just ignore it. Or embrace it. That's what I choose to do when something bad happen to me. I got fast. Very, very, very fast.

My name is Samantha Sammy Reader. To the rest of Carson City, Nevada, I'm just your everyday, average, nerdy teenage girl. To my closest and dearest friend, however, I am Red Lightning. A legend. And this is how it all started.

Chapter 1: Missing Chemicals

A/N I put a lot of effort into this story. I really see it going somewhere. Anyway, enjoy and please leave a review to let me know if you like it.

Samantha Reader:

It's a hot day here in Carson City, Nevada. The sun's burning beams beating down hard on the city; the sidewalks and roads were scorching hot enough to cook an entire meaty breakfast on them, the once, green plants were now brown and beginning to fall over, and the people outside were practically crawling on the grounds, begging for water. Lucky for me however, I was inside, enjoying a blast of cold air from the a.c.

"aaaahhhhh.....", I slowly mutter, my face inches away from the air condition. There is nothing like the feeling of cold, refreshing air hitting your face during a heat wave that make you appreciate technology more.

Savoring the a.c a bit longer, I quickly got off the break room's chair before anyone could catch me and started returning to work.

"Okay", I said, smiling and hoping for the best. "Let's see how the business is doing."

Taking in another breathe of cold air, I started reading the Newman's Chemical's financial report.

Already a few pages into the report, I was getting butterflies in my stomach.

"Oh..... Mr. Newman is not going to be happy about this", I told myself.

According to the financial report, the company was losing a lot of money due to missing chemicals. Over the last few months, chemicals needed for a special project here the company have been going missing. "Stolen", everyone said, but officially, just missing. Sadly, what is almost missing is the thousands and thousands of dollar used to buy the missing chemicals.

I didn't even bother reading the rest the of the report. I knew it would just be more bad news. And honestly, I don't think Mr. Newman need any more of that.

Slamming the financial reports shut, I got up from the break room's chair, straighten my stripped white and green, short-sleeves short with long, loose jeans, and prepare for the worst. Taking one last deep breathe of cold air, I exited the company's break room and headed into Mr. Newman's office.

Located near the outskirt of the city is Newman's Chemical, a giant chemical plant named after it's founder, Mr. Neil Newman. It's almost where I intern. Mr. Neil Newman is a tall business owner with a kind and caring heart. He may have neatly combed hair as gray as a stormy clouds, but nothing about him is "stormy". He treat his employees with respect, pay them on time, and rarely ever get mad. Notice how I said "rarely". Hopefully, this report won't upset him too much.

Pushing down on one of the silver door handles on the pair of jet-black door, I enter Mr. Newman's office. Mr. Newman's office was quite big, almost the size of an entire master bedroom. His three walls and floor were a clean, white color. In the middle of the office were two simple, plastic, black chairs, their legs made of metals. In front of the chairs was Mr. Newman's desk, a large, metal, rectangle-shaped table, the same length as the two chair combined, and his giant, leather, black seat. Behind the leather seat was a bunch of windows acting as the room's fourth wall. There, stood looking out from the window wall was Mr. Newman, wearing his usual gray buisness suit with his hands gripping each other behind his back.

"Hello Mr. Newman", I said, sounding a little scare. "May I can in?"

"Yes, Sammy", reply Mr. Newman, his voice sounding almost emotionless.

Gulping a bit, I walk into the office, the report under my right arm.

"I have the financial report for you. Do you want to see it?"

"No I don't."

Mr. Newman then started to turn around, a stern look on his face.

"I know for a fact that I'm losing money because of the stolen chemicals, Sammy."

"Don't you mean "missing chemicals", Mr. Newman?"

"You know just as well as everyone else does that they're not missing, Sammy. They're stolen. Someone is stealing chemicals from the factory. Arrggghhhh!!!!"

Mr. Newman then slam his fist onto the desk, scaring me a little. Realizing what he just did, he shook his head.

"I'm sorry Sammy", said Mr. Newman, now covering his eyes. "It....It just that......It's just that if we continue to lose money, I may have to start letting people go."

"What?!", I scream, this time, slamming my hands onto Mr. Newman's desk.

"Mr. Newman, you can't fire anyone!!! You just can't!!! Everyone here is practically family!!! I mean... I mean...."

Stopping me, Mr. Newman put his hand up.

"Sammy", said Mr. Newman, his voice returning to normal. "I don't want to fire anyone here. I don't, but I may have to. Unless someone can find those missing chemicals so I don't pay for them again."

I was about to recommended maybe calling the Carson City Police Department for help, but the phone on Mr. Newman's desk rang before I could.

"Hello", said Mr. Newman, answering the phone.  "This is Neil Newman. Who is calling? No! No! No! I don't want the usual shipment of liquid nitrogen! I want only half the normal shipment. Yes, only half of the original shipment."

Sensing that the boss would be busy for a long while, I decided now was the best time to head out. Quietly walking to the door and leaving through it, I rush through the building straight to the front entrance.

"Leaving so soon", ask Mr. Newman's assistant from behind the blackish, marble, front desk.

"Yeah", I reply in a fast tone. "Short day, Lindsay! Heading home to do homework! I'll see you tomorrow!"

"Okay. Bye then."

After leaving the building  through the spinning glass doors, I walk down the street until I was sure no one from the building could see me. I then started calling an old friend of my.

"Oliver", I started, "Are you free tonight?"

Samantha Read:

“This is insane”, declare Oliver, putting his hands up. “I mean, this plan, the plan that you are thinking, is literally just plain insane.”

Oliver Oakmen is one of my oldest and dearest friend ever. We practically grown up together; always going to one another's special events, always cheering one another up when they really need it, and even once begin each other's date to homecoming last year.

“I know Olive”, I reply, “But it's not like there's something us we can do.”

Whoa! Hey!!!” exclaim Olive getting up from his seat. “What do you mean by “we”!?!? I'm not going to help in your evil scheme!!! Nope!!! Oliver Oakmen does not do prison!!!

Olive then cross his arms and put on a serious look.

I let a enormous sigh before letting my head fall onto the polished, sand-colored table.

(10 minutes earlier)

"Hey Olive", I said, smiling and giving him a big hug.

"Sammy", reply Oliver, smiling and giving me an even bigger hug back.

It was later in the day, around 5 in the evening. The once, high-in-the-sky, yellow sun was now beginning to fall, turning a bright, burning orange, and sending it's orange ray across the big sky.

Oliver and I were meeting at Coco's Mountain, a local cafe Olive and I often hung out at to talk to one another and even just to see one another.

Coco's Mountain is a special type of cafe, one with a second story. On the first floor of the cafe were maybe 30 small, round, green tables, company by tall, thin green chairs. The floor was covered in green and white titles and hanging above were lights covered in a transparent, green sphere. Located in the far back of the restaurant was the cash register, near the back exit door, was the cash register, the display case showing all of Coco's Mountain's freshly-baked treats, and the giant, gold-colored coffee machine responsible for the hot coffee and coco everyone enjoy. Near the side of the store, with the window that display the Coco's Mountain's logo (a mountain with a cup of coco on top), was a curved staircase leading to the second floor of the cafe. The second floor of Coco was different first. Instead of small green tables and chairs, there was living room furniture, such as a deep-blue, four-person sofa and a white, one-person chair.

Choosing rather to enjoy some fresh air, Oliver and I decided to grab a table outside. We were lucky enough to grab an empty table with two seats near the end of the store. While I secure our seats, Oliver went inside to order some hot chocolates and a small handful of cookies.

"So what's up", ask Olive, dipping a chocolate-chip cookie into his hot chocolate. He then took a large bite out of the cookie.

"I need your help with something", I reply, ignoring the cookie and just taking a sip of my drink.

"Problems at the plant?", remark Olive, smiling a bit. There were bits of melted chocolates on his teeth.

"You could said that", I mutter, wiping hot chocolate from my mouth. I then place my drink down, and look Olive straight in the eyes.

"Listen Olive", I said, whispering and leaning forward a bit more. "Chemicals at the company have been going missing. Everyone think the chemicals have been stolen. Including Mr. Newman himself."

Sensing that things were about to get more serious, Oliver stop sipping his drink. He slowly wipe away some hot chocolate stains from his upper lip.

"Anyway, I want to know if the chemicals are really begin stolen. And if so, then who? That's why I want to stakeout the chemical plants tonight."

"What?!", shouted Oliver, almost knocking over his drink.

People then started looking at us.

(Right Now)

"Sammy, you can't do this", declare Oliver, returning to whispering. By now, everyone had forgotten about us.

"Olive, I can't just stand by and do nothing!!!", I reply instantly. "The company need me."

"What you need to do is call the police!", Oliver said, trying his hardest not to shout.

"Talking to the CCPD will take too long", I counter, "For all I know, Mr. Newman is planning to fire employees tomorrow!! Come on Olive, do you really want to be the one to let 50 people down?! Let their families down!?!? Knowing that deep, DEEP down, you could have done something?!?!"

Deciding to let all of that sink in first, I give Olive a few seconds to think it over, during which, he drink a lot of his hot chocolate.

"Okay", he said after a large gulp of now warm chocolate. "First of all, you were a little too dramatic with that whole speech thing. No offense."

"No offense", I responded instantly, putting both of my hands up.

"Second of all, it look like you just got help on your little "stakeout", sigh Olive.

Feeling a burst of energy all of a sudden, I quickly push my chair away and ran right up to Olive and give him a big hug.

"Thanks you!!! Thanks you!!! Thanks you!!!", I repeated, "Ah! I knew I could count on you! Thanks you!!!"

Once again, everyone started looking at the two of us, including a few people inside the cafe, but I couldn't care less.

"Okay, okay, okay", repeated Olive, slowly prying me off of him. "This is started to get embarrassing. Please get off of me. I still have one last thing to said."

"Sure!", I whisper excitedly, returning to my seat.

Looking around to make sure everyone's eyes were off of us, Oliver lend forward a bit more.

"Third of all", he started, "Is that the both of us will have to change."

"Change?", I repeated.

"Yeah", said Olive. "Change. We're not exactly wearing the right cloth for a late night stakeout."

Taking in what Olive said, I took a look at his and my clothing.

"What's wrong with our clothes", I ask.

Right now, Oliver is wearing a simple, light-blue, loose-fitting, short-sleeves shirt with a pair of sand-color work short. I'm wearing a skin-tight, striped light and green shirt with also tight blue jean.

"These aren't exactly the right clothes for our little "stakeout", now is it", said Oliver, "If we're really going to do this, then we're going have to change first."

"Okay", I reply, understanding Olive.

We quickly finish our hot chocolate and cookies and then headed home. Once there, I change into a complete dark red outfit. I didn't really have anything black sadly. Grabbing my backpack and a few energy bars while I'm at it, I quickly return back to Newman's Chemicals.

I couldn't wait for the stakeout tonight.

Sammy:

It's about midnight; the moon is high in the pitch-black sky, shining that ghostly glow.

"Did you know that the moon's light is actually just light from the sun", I ask Olive, kicking him in the shoulder.

"Nope.....", moan Olive, his head nearly slipping off his tired fist and almost hitting the car's window a the fifth times this night .

We were both sitting, or sort of sitting, in Olive's ocean-blue mustang, which was parked around the corner from Newman's Chemical. Olive had arrive in his car an hours after I got the chemical plant, dressed in a complete, blackish-blue clothing. I guess he didn't really have anything black either. Anyway, after getting into the front passenger's seat of his car, we drove to the end of the block and have been waiting there ever since 5 in the evening. In the seven hours, we been there, we had eaten all the energy bars I brought along, Olive had taken two nap, and I has turn myself upside down in the seat. Now, for fun, I was shooting fun facts at Olive, hoping that if the robber was going to shoot tonight, he or she would soon up soon!"

"Hey Olive", I started, "Did you know that the process in which bread is toasts is called the "Maillard Reaction"?"

"No...", Oliver reply.

"Did you know that the Mr. Potato Head doll was the first toy to ever by advertised on TV?"

"Not really......"

"Did you know that in 2005, a fortune cookie company named Wonton Food Inc. actually correctly foretold the lottery numbers, resulting in 110 winners?"

"That's interesting...."

"Did you know that---"

"Sammy!!!", Olive yell, "Please! Please! No more fun fact."

Looking down at me, and seeing how sad I look, he let out a sigh.

"Sorry Sammy", Olive said, his voice returning to normal. "I didn't mean to get mean. It's just that I'm tired. I'm mean, we been here for nearly seven hours. I started to lose the feeling in my foot. I'm started to get that weird "needles" feeling!!"

Looking back at me, Olive smile. He move toward me a bit before leaning down to pat me on the top of head.

"Beside, I think if you kept on telling me fun facts, your brain will fry."

Laughing now, I push Olive's hand away.

"Stop that", I chucked, turning myself right-side up.

Once back up, I decided took a quick peek over by Newman's Chemical. Not a thing, like the last seven hours.

"It's getting late", commented Olive, looking around. "Maybe there isn't going to be a robbery."

"I guess we should head home then", I declare, stomping my right foot. "Now I'm started to get that weird "needles" feeling."

As Olive is reaching into his pocket to get the car key, I stop him.

"Wait", I said, place my hand on his shoulder. "Look over there."

Driving up from the other end of the block is a white van, the pair of headlights on low. Slowly driving up to the front of chemical business, the van come to a complete stop, the headlights going out. Stepping out from the van is what I think is a tall man. It's too dark to tell right now.

"Is that our culprit", Olive ask, trying to get a better look at the guy.

"I'm not sure", I reply, also trying to get a better look at the guy.

From where we were parked, the man didn't look like he was doing anything suspicious. No. Nothing really out of the ordinary. Just an average, late night employee. Only, I know for a fact that Mr. Newman doesn't allow any late night employees to work because of the stolen chemicals.

"That's him", I stated, pointing at the bastard.

"Come on then!!!", scream Olive, getting out from the car.

"No!", I said, leaning over to grab Olive by his hand. Stopping him in time, before begin notice, Olive look at me, confuse.

"What", he ask, getting back in. "You don't want to stop him?"

"Yeah I do", I reply, looking back at the man to make sure he's still there. "But first, let see what he's going to stealing first. I'm curious to see why he need all those chemicals."

Eyeing me funny, Oliver reluctantly agree to my plan.

Instead of rushing in to catch the culprit, Olive and I continue to watch from a distance. Or at least until he went into the business. Once in, we follow after him, begin stealthy as possible.

Tiptoeing into the almost pitch-black, empty lobby of Newman's Chemical, Olive and I continue on the odd man's trail. First passing through the the dark, marble-floor, lobby, we follow after the criminal; passing through the many empty cubic offices, down a large flight of metal staircase, until finally, we found ourselves in one of the main lab for Newman's Chemical.

Newman's Chemical's laboratories are a large parts of the business. They're where all the special project are done and observe. Practically the size of a whole backyard, the laboratories were all equipped with different things, needed for different experiments; some with one-way window needed to protect the scientists from flashes, a few with soundproofing walls to stop high-pitch sounds, and even several with one or two with a row of hazmat suits to deal with some radioactive chemicals.

"Where did he go", Olive ask, peeking into one of the lab.

"Not sure", I reply.

Seeing that we somehow lost our target, I thought it would be okay if we look around for a bit. I've always been curious on what secret experiments were perform down here, and begin an intern here doesn't exactly grant much access to certain areas.

Looking around a second times to be sure we were alone, I walk up to one of the lab's door handle and open it. Walking into a small room, where the walls are windows, I was surprise to find myself standing in front of a small, white, metal table.

On the table is a bunch of different chemicals in test-tubes, with a few clipboards nearby and several needles filled with mixed chemicals. Needles like the ones doctors would use to take your blood. Or inject you with something.

"Hey Olive", I said, looking back at my friend who is still hiding behind the door to the laboratories. "Look at this."

I grab all of the clipboard on the table and started flipping through them.

"So this is why the company has been ordering a lot more chemicals."

According to these reports, the company has been working on this sort of "super serum" that can healing any wounds almost instantly. Anything from little, tiny paper cuts to badly, broken bones could be heal within days if this serum actually work.

Still looking at the papers, I was startle when I was grab from behind.

"Who are you?!?!", ask a voice I didn't recognize.

"Who are you?!?!", repeated the voice, "I won't ask again!!!"

"Hey!!!", I heard Olive scream. Charging into the room, Olive ran at full speed and tackle the both of us to the ground. While falling, Olive successes in freeing me.

Quickly getting up, and helping Olive get up afterward, we jump back a few feet to see who it was that grab me. It was our culprit. In deed, he is a man. A tall, thin man, wearing a plaid jacket with a white undershirt, pair with a pair of loose fitting, long, tan pant. He may also be wearing a ski mask, but we could still see the angry quickly raging in his eyes.

Grabbing my hand, Olive and I try to leave, but before we could, the man grab my foot and pull it toward him, tripping me. I accidently fell onto Olive, tripping both of us. With the two of us down, the man quickly got up and rush over to us. Grabbing me by the arm, he flip me over and started strangling me in the neck.

"Sorry", he said, ignoring my clawing hands on his face. "But what I'm doing had to kept a secrets..."

Slowly feeling the life leave my body, I was more than grateful when Olive once again tackle the man to the ground. Getting up and grasping for air, I watch as my friend and the theft started rolling across the lab's floor, hitting each other.

"AAAARRRGGHHHH!!!", they both scream. It's wasn't until they roll into the table holding the chemicals that I had to stop them.

"Stop!!!", I yell, rushing over to help Olive. It was too late.

With one swift kick, the theft kick Olive off of him and into the table, knocking over most the dangerous chemicals. Grabbing Olive by the arms, I pull him away from the chemicals before any could hit him.

"You okay", I ask, checking Oliver's eyes.

Gripping a part of his chest, Olive stare back at me. He look happily at me for a few seconds before something change it.

"Watch out!!!", he scream, pointing behind me.

Turning around as fast as I possibly could, I was smack in the head with one of the test-tubes stands, chemicals spilling all over me.

"Aaaahhhhhhh!!!!", I scream, trying my best to shake off the burning chemicals.

Sizzling, white streams had started coming off from me. The whole started to stink of burning flesh. Before I knew it, the chemicals were in my eyes, and I couldn't see. Stumbling my ways around, I was able to open my eyes just a little. Only in time to see the man push me off my feet and into the spill chemicals.

"Aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!", I scream again, the burning only getting worse.

"Sammy!!!", was the last thing I heard before blacking out.

Chapter 4: Awakening

Oliver:
A few days later

"Up and down", I said to myself, looking at Sammy's heart rate monitor. "Up and down. Up and down. Up and down."

It had been only three days after Sammy and I broke into Newman's Chemicals in the hope of  finding out who has been stealing chemicals from the company. Three days since Sammy was hit in the head with a test-tubes case filled with dangerous chemicals and fell into a pool of even more dangerous chemicals. A lot had happen since then.

For one, after letting the man escape, I choose to injected Sammy with the "super serum" she mention earlier. "Can healing any wounds almost instantly", the words that the reports mentioned and Sammy said, was the only things in my head at that time. "Can healing any wounds almost instantly. Anything from little, tiny paper cuts to badly, broken bones...."

I didn't want to, but I just couldn't let Sammy died either. It was a spur of the moment decision. Anyway, after injected her with the blood-red serum, she started shaking uncontrollable. Then, out of nowhere, this disturbing, "red foam", started pouring out from her mouth. I didn't know what to do. I was freaking out; pulling out my hair, suffering from shortness of breath, pacing around. Eventually, I just had to call for help. I took out my phone, dialed 9-1-1, and waited until the ambulance arrived so that they could take Sammy to the hospital. Believe it or not, it only got worst from there.

With Sammy during the whole trip to the hospital, refusing to leave her side even for a moment, I was surprise to find my parents, Sammy's parents, Mr. Newman, and even a few police officers there at the hospital. Apparently, Mr. Newman install a new security system for the company, which the man, Sammy, and I accidently trigger when we enter the building. Checking the cameras from his home, Mr. Newman watch everything; from us following the man, to us entering the highly-strictly laboratory, to finally us getting into a fight with the theft and Sammy's accident. After watching the whole things, Mr. Newman called our parents and the cops and all of them quickly drove to the hospital nearest to the company.

Angry at first, Newman change his mood when he saw Sammy on a hospital stretcher, getting pull into the emergency room. Practically forgetting the reasons why they were all here, we could only watch as the doctors and nurses pull Sammy away, through a pair of green, metal, swinging door. Looking at everyone, and the looks on their faces, I did the only thing I could do. I try comforting them; patting them on the back, telling them was Sammy would pull through this, that all they had to worry about is how she would complain about how awful the hospital foods was. It seem to work for a bit.

Anyway, after comforting them, I was question by the polices. They wanted to know if I saw anything that could be use to identify the man. I told them no, since the man wore a mask. They thanked me before heading out.

Currently, it's around 3 p.m on a Tuesday. I'm sitting in a really uncomfortable, crumbs-filled, half-green, half-stain, chair, looking at Sammy heart rate monitor. Sammy's parents are at a restaurant near the hospital, having lunch, hoping that maybe some fresh air and better foods will help them get better. My parents are at work right now, trying their harder to forget about Sammy in the hospital. And speaking of work, Mr. Newman return back to his company, only to discover more chemicals stolen. Now he's on the verge of firing people just so he can order more.

"Up and down", I repeated, "Up and down. Up and down. Up and.....up??? What?"

Out of nowhere, Sammy's heart rate monitor started beeping uncontrollable. *beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep*

My first instance is to go get the doctors and find out what is going on with Sammy. Just as I was about to charge through the hospital's shining, metal, woods-cover door, I stop. I started hearing breathing. Slow breathing, yes, but still breathing. Coming from Sammy? Then, as if in a horror show, Sammy just sprung back to life, grasping for air.

"Whoa!!!", I scream, falling back onto the white wall of the hospital.

Sammy:

"What happen?!?!", I scream, grasping for air.

Rapidly taking in one breath after another, practically an inhale and exhale every second, I was surprise to find my eyes covered in some sort of "bandage". The bandage appear to be the type of hospitals used; a light-pink color, with a sort of soft, bumpy feelings. Slowly unwrapping the dressing, I was even more surprise to find myself in what look like a hospital room, with my best friend, crouching in the corner, gripping onto the walls like as if there is supposed something there

"Olive", I started, still looking around. "What happen to me?"

Still crouching in the corner, and unable for speak for some reason, I started looking at myself. Not only were my eyes wrapped in hospitals dressing, but so was my whole body.

"What...Wha---...What the---", I finally mutter.

Literally every parts of me was covered in at least two layers of dressings. From my tiniest toe to my big head, literally everything is covered.

"Oliver", I said in a stern voice, eyeing my friend intently. "What happened to me? Why am I in a hospital? What is going on?"

Seeming..."okay" again, Olive quickly got up from the room's corner and rush to my side.

"Sammy", he started, sounding confuse. "You're....You're........You're okay???"

"Yeah.....", I reply, now sounding confuse with Olive.

"And you don't remember anything?"

Putting my wrapped finger to the bottom of my chin, I started thinking about the last thing I remember. After awhile, it was all started to come back to me.

"Yeah", I said. "Yeah, I'm started to remember. You and I were at Newman's Chemicals. We were trying to figure out who it is that is stealing chemicals.... We found the man who been stealing....There was a fight.....I....I was hit in the head......"

Remembering everything now, I look back at my wrapped body.

"How bad it is", I ask, looking at Olive.

Reluctantly to answer at first, Olive started scratching the back of his head, while looking at the ground.

"Oliver", I said, putting on my stern voice, "How bad am I?"

"Not the best", Oliver reply, looking away from me. "According to the doctor, you have a skull fracture, along with some cuts too deep to fix from broken glasses. Not to even mention the chemicals in you."

"Chemicals in me", I repeated to myself.

"You know, from...from the man", declare Oliver, "And from when you accidently slipped and fell into that chemicals pools."

Still looking at myself, I started poking myself all over; in the arms, chests, even the legs.

"What are you doing", ask Olive, lending toward me a bit.

"I'm feeling fine", I stated, still poking myself. "I mean, I literally feeling fine. I don't feel any cuts, or bruises, or....anything."

"What", yell Olive, rushing over to see if what I was saying is true.

Placing his soft hands on my "injured arms", he gently squeeze it. Nothing. Squeezing it a few more times, and getting the some result, we look into each other eyes.

"Sammy", Olive whisper, leaning closer toward me.

"Yeah", I reply, still looking into Olive's eyes.

"Your eyes....They....They're red."

"What?"

"Your eyes. They're both red. Really, really red."

Hoping that what Olive is saying is wrong, I started looking around for some sort of mirror. I guess knowing exactly what I'm looking for, Oliver took out his phone.

"Here", he said, handing me the phone.

Quickly taking it out of his hand, I use it to look at myself. Olive is right. Instead of my usual, hazelnuts, brown eyes, I had a pair of bright, red eyes.

"Whoa", I mutter.

Handing the phone back to my phone, I was startle when a man came rushing into the room all of a sudden.

"What is going on here", he said in a loud, stern voice. The man is a tall man, with a bald top, but old, gray hairs on the back of his head. He wore a clean, white doctor coat with dark-brown trousers, and loaners and a pair of simple, 8-bits glasses.

"I heard the heart pulse monitor beep like crazy. What did you do young man?"

Eyeing Olive very intensely, he was surprise to find me, sitting up and without bandages on my eyes.

"What---", he mutter, staring at me with a confuse look, constantly readjusting his glasses.

"That's impossible", the doctor said after awhile. He then rush over to start examining me.

"Follow my finger", he stated, putting his index finger right up to my face.

Moving it right and left and up and down, he was practically gasping for air by the time we was done. While trying to regain his breath, he too started squeezing my arms, like Oliver did. And like before, I didn't feel anything.

"Young man", scream the doctor, turning around to face Oliver. "Go and get this young girl's parents right now. The four of us have something to discuss."

"Okay", reply Olive, taking out his phone to dial my parents' number.

The doctor then return his attention back to me.

"Now", he started, "How about we get you into some decent clothing?"

It had only been about 15 minutes since my "awakening", as Olive would describe it, and in that short amount of time, my parents had heard about me and came charging into the hospital's sliding, glass doors, ramming everyone out of their way, I had gotten X-ray and then gotten change into a very "showing" hospital grown, and Olive and I had move out from my hospital room and were now sitting in the hallway.

"Samantha!!!", shouted my parents as they came running toward me, almost accidently pushing over a nurse. Once they got to me, they instantly grab me and started hugging me very tightly.

"Oh, we're so happy to see you!!! OHHH!!!"

Now hugging me very, very tightly, I started pushing them back a bit.

"Mom", I started, "Dad. It's okay. I'm fine. Right now, Olive and I are just waiting for Dr. Goodwin to return with my results."

"Lucky for you then I'm quick with the result", commented Dr. Goodwin.

"Whoa!!", said Olive, jumping back a bit.

Almost like as if he just appear out of thin air, Dr. Goodwin smile at us.

"Mr. and Mrs. Reader", started the doctor, "If I may speak to you and your daughter in my office. Privately."

He then eye Oliver intensely. Taking a hint, Oliver said he needed to use the restroom anyway and took off. Now leading the way to his office, mom, dad, and I soon enter a small rectangle room.

Dr. Goodwin's office isn't any bigger than my room back at home. In the middle of the room is a small, simple, brown desk, with an even smaller, simpler, gray roller chair behind it. On the opposite side of the gray roller chair is three patted, metal chair and hanging on the walls behind the desk is a bunch of diplomas and pictures.

"Take a seat, please", said Dr. Goodwin, motioning toward the chair. He then walk past the desk and quickly sat into his roller chair. Deciding to go first, dad went in first, to the first chair, with mom following after him, and me following after mom.

"Okay", started Dr. Goodwin, "Now that we are all seated, let begun."

Out of nowhere, the doctor started looking at me funny.

"Mr. and Mrs. Reader, I just want to began by simple saying what an odd case your daughter is."

"Hey", shouted my dad, launching up from his chair.

"No! No! No! That not what I mean!", reply Goodwin, moving back a little and putting up his hand. "What I mean is that your daughter shouldn't have heal that fast!"

Looking confuse now, dad slowly sank back into his seat. Seeing that the danger had pass, Goodwin continue. He pull from his desk a large, sand-color file.

"According to these records, when Samantha here was first admitted into hospital, she had a skull fracture, broken bones, deep cuts with glass in them, and second-degree burns all over her body."

To show us what he meant, he pull from the file X-rays of me from when I first arrive. On the X-rays are multiple pictures one of which is my skull, with a large, crack, near the upper, right front of my head, another is one of my arm, with many pieces of glass in it. A few more show my leg with both glass in it and a broken foot.

"Wounds like these take months, if not years to heals. Yet, Samantha here somehow manage pull off a full recovery in order three days."

Once again, Goodwin pull from the files more X-rays of me. Still time though, no cracks or broken bones or even glass.

"What happen to the glass", I ask, looking at the doc.

"We don't know", he reply, looking as confuse as the rest of us. "We did a full CAT scan of Samantha, and it show that absolute no trace of glass in her system. Almost like as if it was never there."

"What", the three of us said simultaneously, looking at the X-rays. We continue to look at the X-rays for a bit before looking back at Dr. Goodwin.

"Well...Well not what", ask dad, gently placing down the X-rays.

"Well", reply Goodwin, "I see no reason to keep Samantha here if she perfectly okay. I make a few calls, see if I can get her out of here and back into her normal life. Shouldn't take too long."

"Okay", we reply, getting up to leave. Just before we could leave though, Goodwin stop us.

"Wait", he said, putting a finger up. "Before you do go, I just have one request."

"What is it", I ask.

"Samantha, if for any reason whatsoever, you start..."feeling" something out of the ordinary, just came and see me. Okay?"

"Okay", I reply, leaving with my parents.

As the three of us started heading out, I stare my arms.

"What happen to the glass", I thought.

Chapter 5: How Fast Are You Again?!?!

Chapter 5: How Fast Are You Again?!?!

A/N Enjoy and Please Leave a Review

Sammy:

Tapping my thin, yellow No. 2 pencil against my soft, peace-color lip, I started thinking.

"In an abandoned house, there is an aquarium with three small fishes and three big fishes. Two big fishes and one small fish died. How many fishes are left?"

"That's easy", I thought, "Because there is no one around to take out the died fishes, there should still be six fishes in totally."

I couldn't help but laugh at the silly riddle.

It's around 10:30 at night, and I'm at home, in my medium-size room. My room, a sort of weird, pentagon-shaped is dimly lit only by my small, metal desk lamp, which is located in the upper right corner of my room, on top of my little, sand-color desk. Behind my desk is my simple, five-wheels, brownish-red chair, and my soft, thick and thin, bed with a yellow and white blanket on top of it right now. Under my bed is my long, also sand-color dresser, filled with my clothes and some personal stuffs, and which take up about half of the wall, my bed taking the other half. Near my dresser is the only door to my room, long, thin, and as white as milk. Next to the exit and entrance is the window of my room, rectangle-shaped and clear.

It had only been a day after my "awakening", and so far, everything seem perfectly fine. After getting back from the hospital, my parents, Olive, and I all headed out to a restaurant to have dinner. I'll admit, I was hungrier than usual, but anyway, after dinner, everyone headed home for the night. Enjoying a long, peaceful nap in my bed, I woke up in time for school at Carson High. Everyone there heard about me, but they didn't really know me so not a lot of questions were ask about my recovery. Now, with mom and dad asleep, I'm just finishing all the homeworks I miss, of course, taking a small break to enjoy some easy, yet fun riddle.

"Hmm....", I thought.

"Am I hungry? I feel hungry but I can't be hungry. I just ate three large cheeseburgers an hour ago. And yet..."

I look at my little belly as, out of nowhere, it started to rumble. Putting my hand on my stomach, I decided to have a quick snack before returning to my homework. Pushing back my chair, I rush over to my door and open it before leaving. Rushing down the stair, I happily hop down the stairs and into the almost, pitch-black lower level. Flicking on a near-by light switch, I practically head into the kitchen for a late night snack.

Grabbing a large bowl from the hanging, wooden cover, I pour myself a large bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, before decided to head back to my room for more riddle. Thinking about a riddle I heard from from Olive, something about a sand and a bike, I accidently trip on the staircase. As I watch milk and little, cinnamon-covered flakes fly everywhere, I started to see something weird.

As I, the milk, and the cinnamon-covered flakes started to fall, everything started to slow down, except me. Somehow "hovering" over the stair, I could see all the bits of white milks, floating here and there. And as for the flakes, it like they've stop moving, completely. Knowing I'd be trouble if I let them hit the carpeted stair, I grab the large bowl, which is upside down by the way. Grabbing it and turning it right side up, I somehow mange to catch all of the bits of flying foods from falling. All of them landed perfectly in the bowl, like as if they were in there the whole time.

"What...What..", I utter, standing there with a large bowl of cereal in my hands. "What----....What...--What just happen?"

Feeling what felt like a panic attack coming, I quickly drop my cereal on the dinner's table before anything else could happen. I then rise my hands in the air and started walking around randomly. The whole time, replaying what just happen in my head.

"What was that", I ask myself, constantly looking back at the cereal in the bowl. I mean, the cereal that shouldn't be in the bowl.

"That cereal should be spill all over the stair", I told myself, pushing my hands into my head. "I mean..... Here on Earth, things that fall will fall at a downfall velocity of about 9.81 m/s. Basically, I shouldn't have been able to catch that. Right now, I should be panicking because I just spill cereals all over my parent's floor!!! Not panicking because I caught it!!!"

Stopping and taking in a few deep breathes, I started to think of what could have happen. How could I have caught all of the cereals, without not even one bit of sweet milk hitting the ground? Thinking it over and replaying it in my head constantly, I couldn't think of anything. Or least anything that made sense.

"Oh Sammy", I said to myself, "What did you do...."

Trying to figuring out my next best course of action, I decided to call Olive. Hopefully, he was still awake. Leaving my snack behind, I ran straight up to my room as fast as I could. However, as I started running, I also somehow started feeling..."out of the ordinary".

Almost like an "electrifying" feeling, as I ran, this feeling began to consume me. Instead of feeling all panicking, I instead felt..electrifying. While trying to figure out what this feeling is, I didn't notice the door in front of me. Running right into it, there was a loud thud sound before a quiet moaning sound could be heard.

"ooooorrrrr.....", I moan, rubbing the back of my head. "What the---???

Ignoring the throbbing bump on my head, I rush into my room and grab the phone on my desk. Dialing in Olive's number, I had to wait awhile before he could answer.

".....*clearing voice*...Hello", answer Olive.

"Get away here. Now," I said in my most serious voice possible. Sensing the seriousness in my voice, Oliver said he would be at my house in ten minutes. I then heard a little bit of a struggle as he got out of bed. I continue to hear more and more struggle until finally, I hung up.

Waiting endlessly for Olive to show up, I felt a lot of relief when he finally show up in his ocean-blue mustang.

"Okay", he said as soon as he got out of his car. "What's up?"

"First, take me somewhere private", I demand. "I don't want anyone to see what's about to happen."

"What", reply Olive, looking at me funny. "What are you talking about? What don't you want anyone to see?"

"Please just truth me on this", I said, grabbing Olive's hand. "I wouldn't have call you this late at night unless it was important."

Giving him a few minutes to think it over, Olive reluctantly agree to take my somewhere private.

"I think I mean be able to think of a place", said Olive, heading back to his car. "Get in."

Smiling now, I quickly hop into my friend's car and drove off with him.

It was a long drive to Oliver's "private place". I thought I should try and keep track of where we could possibly be going, but give up on trying to used landmarks and street names since it's too dark to see. Trying my hardest not to worry, I eventually lost my nerve when we drove right out of the city.

"Okay Olive", I scream, looking around, "Where are you taking me? Where are we going?"

"In my defense", reply Olive, turning off the headlight, "You ask for somewhere private."

Suddenly stopping, I took a long, hard look around. Olive, my best friend in quite possibly the whole wide world, has driven me to the middle of the desert at night. I guess I should lucky this isn't horrible story I told myself.

During the day, the desert was everything you could imagine it to be; burning hot with the blazing sun beating down on you. A waterfall of sweats quickly beading down your face, while your body try and ration whatever water it had. Hot, sand running its way through your shoe, and the desert animals running around you, mocking you. This was all common during the day. At night however, it was a different story.

The usual, burning hot desert air is replace with a freezing cold, desert air, the previous water of sweats freezing over and returning back into your body. The previous hot sand turn cold, and the desert animals that used to run around you are now peacefully sleeping in whatever burrows or cactuses is their home.

As I got out of Olive's car, I instantly start walking toward the empty, lifeless desert.

"So what is it that you wanted to me to see exactly", ask Oliver, shivering a bit.

Stopping a few feet from Olive and his car, I turn around and look at Olive.

"Watch this", I said.

Turning back around to face the empty desert, I started running. As I started running, I started getting that same electrifying feeling I got. It was like as if sparks were running across my nerves, filling them with energy. While running, I started to feeling the wind breeze through my strawberry-blonde hair, throwing it around like crazy. Within only a few seconds, I must have gotten the entire length of a football field away from Olive and his car. I couldn't really be sure, but I think Olive meant actually be having more of a panic attack than I did when I first discover this "feeling". Running back to Olive, I wasn't surprise when I first him on the desert's ground, grasping for breath and clutching onto the hood of his car.

"Wh--Wh--Wh----What was that", scream Olive, shooting back up from the desert, kicking away some sand from behind. He then started pointing to where I started, then where I just was, and now where I am now.  "....W----...Wh...--.-Why---What was that?!?!"

"I don't know", I reply, stretching out my arms, yelling at the sky. "I don't know what "that" was! I was hoping you could tell me!!!"

"Tell you what", ask Oliver, squeezing his head suddenly. "Sammy, I have absolute no idea what I just saw!!! You're the genius!!! Don't you know!!!"

"NO", I shoot back, "NO! I don't know what this is!!! All I know is that somehow, I can catch a giant bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch from falling!!!"

".......What does that even mean", ask Olive, looking at me with a confuse face.

About to reply, I decided to first stop. Closing my eyes and taking in a deep breath of fresh, freezing, desert air, I started talking in my most, calmest voice possibly.

"Oliver", I started, "I need your help, okay? I'm scare. I don't know what to do. I mean, somehow, somehow, I all of sudden got the... power to slow down time I guess."

"Slow down time", repeated Olive, looking at me with that confuse face again.

"Yeah", I commented, "I know, hard to believe. But you just saw what happen! I somehow slow down time enough to run all the way over and back here, even before you could get up."

"Sammy", said Olive, placing his hand on my shoulder. "I may not know what I just saw, but I do know that you don't have the "power to slow down time"."

"What", I utter, looking at Olive funny. "What do you mean I don't have the power to slow down time. You just saw what I just did. And when I was doing it, I actually saw time slow down. How do you explain that?"

"Sammy, you don't have the power to slow down time", declare Olive. "You however do have super speed."

"Super speed", I repeated.

"Yeah!", shoot out Olive, "You have super speed! You can run! Fast!"

Shaking my head in disbelief, I started pacing back and forth, thinking. I continue to pace for a long while, before finally turning back to Olive.

"Are you sure", I ask. "I mean, it doesn't feeling like super speed."

Putting both his index finger and thumb up to his chin, Olive started thinking of something.

"Try vibrating your hand as fast as you can", said Oliver. He then brought up his right arm and started shaking it around.

"Uh...", I utter.

"Just do it", demanded Olive, looking intensely at me.

Rolling my eyes, I brought up my right arm and started vibrating it, like Oliver did. Not really knowing what was going to happen, I practically jump out from my skin when I saw my entire right arms start to disappear.

"Oh my god", I scream, falling onto the sand. Returning to normal a few seconds later, I was still startle.

"See", chuckle Oliver, offering me a hand. "I told you. Super speed."

Looking back at my hand, I was started to believe Olive's super speed theory. Testing it out, I once again began vibrating my hand as fast as I could.

Not as shock as I was before, I somehow was able to maintain my hand as it continue to vibrate.

"Whoa...", I said, practically hypnotize by my own hand. With it vibrating so fast, it didn't look like a hand anyway. It look only like a blur. A impossibly, fast-moving, blur.

"How fast are you again", Oliver ask, staring at my hand.

Shaking my head left and right, I started thinking.

"It take me exactly 24 minutes and 47 seconds to run a full mile at school", I reply, still vibrating my hand. "Four laps. 24 minutes. That's about 6mph."

"That hand of your isn't shaking at only 6mph", declare Olive, pointing at it.

Still amaze by my new super speed, the both of us fail see sparks coming off from my shaking hand. Eventually, we notice the sparks when they started shooting off from my hand. A bright, red lightning bolt shot off from my hand, almost accidently hitting Olive.

"Whoa", scream Oliver, quickly backing away before tripping onto the hood of his mustang. "Hey! Watch the... red lightning?!"

Not as startle as before, I was able to stop my hand from shooting off any more bolts by stopping the vibrating of it.

"Wow", I said, more amaze than afraid. "That was...

"Unexpected", commented Olive, slowly getting off the hood of his car. "Guess you got both super speed and lightning power."

The scientist side of me started emerging, telling me to test something.

"Stand back", I declare, taking a few steps away from Olive. Sensing something bad coming, Oliver quickly ran to the other side of his car and hid there, only the top of his head and his eyes noticeable.

Standing almost 20 feet from my best friend's car, I once again started vibrating my hand as fast as I could, doing so while trying to maintain my speed. As my hand begun to turn into a blur, bright-red sparks also begun to emerge, first only a few, but after only a few seconds, hundreds were appearing. In only a minutes, my whole hand was covered in bright-red sparks.

Groaning to maintain the speed, I turn to my other hand and started shaking that one too. Like my previous hand, in only 60 seconds did it turn into another impossibly fast-moving blur, with all sort of bright-red sparks covering it.

"Whoa.....", I utter.

Almost as bright as the car's headlight themselves, I turn around and threw both my arms forward. As I did, as if they understood me, two long, bright bolts of red lightning came shooting out from my bare hand, hitting the desert's sand and tossing it all over the place.

"Unfreakinbelievable", stated Olive, slowly coming out from behind his car.

Oliver:

Pressing my hands against my head and sifting through my hair, I started slowly walking toward Sammy. Eventually, I reach her.

"That", I started, "That was...just so awesome!!! HAHA!!! Sammy, that was awesome!!! So freaking awesome!!! I mean, you...you...You just shot off lightning bolts from your hands!!!"

Bumping Sammy out of the way, I ran over to the spot where Sammy aimed her lightning hands. Brushing away some sands, I was "shock" to find some of the sand turned into glass. Actually glass!!! Actually glass made from sands that was strike by lightning!!!

"Sammy", I scream, motioning her to come to me, "Come here!!! You're not going to believe this, or maybe you will, but...but you just made glass!!! Actually glass!!!"

Brushing away some more sand, I fell down to my knee and started tapping my knuckle against the glass.

"Pure glass", I continue excitedly. However, my excitement ended suddenly when I saw Sammy, with a worry look on her face.

"Sammy", I said, getting up from off the ground and walking toward her. "Sammy? What's wrong?"

"I...I....I just shot lightning from my hands", said Sammy, barely begin able to say those word.

"Yeah", I reply, looking confuse. "You just shot off two, bright-red streaks of lightning from your hand. What's wrong with that?"

Looking intensely at the two not-moving arms in front of her, she angrily slap them down before heading back toward my car.

"Take me home", she scream, before getting into my car and slamming the door shut.

Confuse, and shaking my head left and right, I rush over to the front passenger's seat of my mustang.

"Sammy", I yell, "What's wrong with you?!?!"

"What's wrong with me", repeated Sammy, angrily kicking my door open and hitting me in the process.

"Hey watch it", I scream, rubbing my struck stomach.

Ignoring me, Sammy got out of the car and started walking back and forth.

"What happen to me", she scream, shooting out her arms at the sky, "I was normal!!! Just a normal girl!!! Now! Now, I'm...I'm some sort of....science abomination!!!"

To prove her point, Sammy once again started vibrating her hands as fast as she could. I don't think it was even a full minute before the red lightning started reappearing.

"Samantha", I said, grabbing my friend by her arms. As I grab for her arms however, I was electrocuted, a trail of red lightning traveling from Sammy's arm to my in less than a second.

"Ouch", I scream, shooting my hand back. Moaning in pain now, I shook my hand before looking at it. Already, it was black with burnt and smoking white.

"Oliver", scream Sammy, rushing to check on my blacken hand. Sadly though, as she was about to grab it and examining it, she stop suddenly.

"Sorry", she then said in a sort of panicking mood. "Sorry! Really, really sorry about shocking you!"

Sammy then started squeezing her head.

"I am so, so sorry", declare Samantha, "But I don't want to electrocuted you again! I can't help you!"

I guess not wanting to hurt me anymore, Sammy decided to use her new-found power to leave me. Taking one last look at me, she apologize once more before running off, kicking a pile of sand in my faces.

"Aahhh!", I scream, shielding my face from the oncoming sand.

Not wanting to leave Sammy to deal with her new "ability" alone, I hastily ran toward my mustang. Hopping over the hood, I jump into the front seat of the vehicle and turn on the engine. Once on, I turn it around and started following Sammy.

Surprisingly, she wasn't that hard to follow, even with her speed. As Sammy continue to use her power, she started leaving a trail of red lightning behind her, almost as bright as the sun itself. In fact, if it wasn't for her lightning trail, I wouldn't be able to know where she is going.

The chase between my best friend and I continue for a long while, all over the Nevada's desert, until out of nowhere, she stop. The red lightning that used to be trailing behind her vanish, and she started bouncing up and down the desert's sand.

"Sammy!", I scream, poking my head out of the cars window. Driving right up to Sammy, I park beside her and got out.

"Sammy!", I scream again, kicking open my door and rushing to pick her up. As I arrive to her side, I was shock to find her crying.

"Why me", she said through her tear. "Why me?! I was normal! I was just a normal girl!! Now! I'm....I'm....I'm some sort of freak!!!"

"Samantha", I said in my most soothing, "You're not a freak."

I then bend down to consult my friend.

"You're not a freak", I continue, "You're not! You're just scare!! This....This....."power" you have. It's nothing to be scare of."

"NOTHING TO BE SCARE OF!?!?", scream Sammy, quickly getting up from the cold desert's sand. "NOTHING TO BE SCARE OF?!?!"

Once again, Samantha started shaking her arms super speed. So fast, this time, it wasn't even a full second before the red electricity started to cover her arms again, and shot out bolts of burning lightning.

"AAHHH!", I scream, as I jump onto the cold sand beneath my feet, hands over my head.

"NOTHING TO BE SCARE OF!", repeated Samantha again. "NOTHING TO BE SCARE OF! THIS IS...IS... IS SOMETHING TO BE SCARE OF!"

"SAMANTHA SAMMY READER!", I scream, pushing myself up from the sand. "THIS IS NOTHING TO BE SCARE OF!"

I then stomp my foot firm into the sand.

"Sammy", I said, putting my hands up and lowering my voice. "Sammy, please. Just... Just calm down. This... This "power". I know, it's a big shock. For you especially, but you just need to calm down."

I couldn't be sure if my "speech" was actually working, or not, but then again, Sammy did seem too calm down a bit. She stop shaking her arms, lower them to her sides, and then just look at me.

"Okay", I thought, "That's an okay start."

"Samantha", I continue, my hands still up but foot still firmly in the ground. "Listen, we may not know... "why" this happen to you, but we do know that you can... apparently control it... In a way."

Seeming to return to normal, Sammy bounce her head up and down, to show that she's in agreement.

"Listen, everything is going to be okay. I'm guessing, no one else know about this. Not even your parents."

"No", whisper Sammy so quietly I could barely hear her.

"Okay. Well, such no one else know about your "power", we can work with that. For now, lets just pretend things were like before. You know, before you become the world's fastest woman."

My joke was able to get a smile out of Sammy, which also got a smile out of me. To end the night, my best friend and I hug each other tightly, before decidedly to get back in my car and drive home.

"First stop", I said as soon as I got in, "The home of Samantha "Dangerous Lightning" Reader."

"Please don't call me that", Sammy reply, looking at me angrily. She then brought up one of her hand.

"Whoa!", I scream, accidently unlocking my door and falling out.

"Oh gosh!", yell Sammy, crawling over to my side. "Oliver! Are you okay!?"

"I'm fine", I reply, waving my right hand around. "I'm fine."

Dusting off some sands from my clothes, I quickly hop back into my ride. I was about to start the ignition, but before I did, I pointed a finger at Sammy and give her a hard stern look.

"Don't... Don't do that."

"Sorry", said Sammy quickly, putting her hands together and into her laps.

While putting her hands into her laps, I notice something odd.

"Sammy", I said, "What happen to your shoes?"

"My shoes?", repeated Samantha confuse. "What are you talking abo-"

As Samantha look at her once, dark-red and black, walking shoe, she could see that they were practically burnt to bits!

Sammy's shoe, or what's left of them, were almost completely burnt. Like as if them been toss in a giant bonfire. Bits of black, wools glue to my friend's feet. Her ten, tiny toes wiggling themselves free of the burnt black bits.

"Wow", I commented, "Well, best of luck explaining that to your parents."

A/N I decided to try and upload a new picture for the cover of "Red Lightning", but I can't really tell if I like it or if I prefer the old. Please leave a review and tell me your opinions on the new picture. I could really use it. Thanks and ENJOY!!!!

Samantha:
It was a late Friday afternoon here in Carson City, Nevada. The air had a slightly warmer feeling to it, the sun was a little more than halfway across the sky, and I was about ten steps away from entering Newman's Chemicals.

"Okay", I told myself, "Okay! Everything is normal! Everything is normal! Just...Just go in there and be yourself! Just.. Just try and forget about the..."thing"."

Taking in a few extremely deep breaths, and thinking it over for a bit, I took a leap of faith and walk toward the sliding, glass doors of the business. I couldn't be sure whether or not I had accidently use the "thing", since it did feel like I walk the ten steps to the doors extremely fast, but since I didn't ram myself into the door, I figure I just walk fast.

"Hey Samantha", greeted Mr. Boxwood as I came into the building's lobby.

"Hey Mr. Boxwood", I reply, giving him a quick wave.

Mr. Boxwood is a security guard for Newman's Chemicals. He's a short, bald, slightly "chubby" man, with dark skin, and a usually happy attitude. If I remember correctly, I think he been working for Mr. Newman since the company first got started! That's almost a full 35 years!

"Hey Samantha", started Mr. Boxwood, "I heard about what happen. I am so sorry that I wasn't around to help! Maybe if I was around, "WE" could have finally stop him!"

"Ah, don't worry about it!", I reply, putting on a fake smile and walking backward, "It's fine! It's fine! Gotten go!"

Quickly, but not too "quickly", I walk to the elevator and push the "up" button. It ding a second before slowly opening. Feeling impatiently, I went ahead and squeeze on through the crack before turning around to push the 10th floor button: Mr. Newman's personal office floor.

"Bye Mr. Boxwood!", I yell, as the elevator's door close, and started to take me to my destination.

With the door seal, and no one around, I was left to my thoughts. My quiet, private thoughts. Taking in another breath of fresh airs, I relax for a bit, before falling back onto the elevator's silver wall.

"...Super speed", I thought, "...Wow...Super speed...It can't be possible! It just can't be! The fastest man alive is Usain Bolt, but he could only run at about 28 mph! Who know how fast I can run?! Especially now, since I can produce electricity simple by running!"

I then thought back to last night, after Ollie and I found my shoes completely burn.

"Wh--?!? Wha---?!?! WHAT HAPPEN TO MY SHOES!?!?", I scream, my voice echoing through the empty desert, probably scaring every, single within a 20 miles radius.

"Whoaaaa..hehe....", commented Oliver, rubbing his hand through his hair. "That...That's.....That'sss....ssss....something...."

"Thanks!", I reply sarcasmly, "Thanks you for telling me that's "something"!!"

"Sorry", reply Oliver, still staring at my "shoes", "But what else do you want me to say!!"

"I don't want you to say anything!!", I scream, "What I want is to know what the heck happen to my shoes!! They're completely burnt!! They look like they been toss into an enormous bonfire!!"

The two of us just sat in silence for a few minutes, racking our brains for an explanation to what could have blacken my shoes.

The two of us just sat in silence for a few minutes, racking our brains for an explanation to what could have blacken my shoes.

"The electricity!!!“, Ollie scream after a what felt like an eternally. ”The...The electricity!!! When you ran, the electricity must have burn through your shoes!!"

Thinking it over for a bit, I slap myself in the forehead before falling back onto the front passenger of Ollie’s mustang.

“Oh shoot..“, I said, letting out a small sigh. “Oh... How am I going to explain this to my parents?"

“I don’t know”, reply Ollie, looking at me, “But if I would you, I’d leave out the part where you can run at super speed and produce electricity. You know, just saying.”

"Uh....“, I groan, slapping myself once more.

“Okay listen”, started Oliver, putting up his hands. “Here’s what we’re going to do, okay? First, I’m going to drive you back home. You’re going to get rid of those shoes, and replace them with something not burned!! Okay? Then, you’re going straight to bed!!! You look tired, and after this crazy night, we both could use a rest. Then, after you wake up, you’re going to go to school, and pretend like everything is normal!! This also goes for Newman’s Chemical. Just go there, and act normal!! Once you’re done with that, we’ll meet up again and try and figure out what to do with your... super speed.

“Okay”, I moan, realizing now how tired I was. I let out a loud, long yawn, stretching out my arms and legs.

“Ahhhhhh....“, I then groan, rubbing my watery eyes. “On second though, I think I’ll take a nap right now.”

I comfortably lend back against the seat of Ollie’s mustang, before closing my eyes and slowly drifting away.

Ollie woke me up a short nap later, at my house. We said “bye” to each other before Oliver drove away and I went into my house. Following my friend’s plan, I swap out my burnt shoes and replace them with a pair of running sneakers I had lying around.

“Never thought I’d use these”, I said to myself, “After all, I never really ran anywhere.”

I toss the burnt shoes out in the back trash-bin, place the new one where I would originally put my old one, and then quickly went to bed. The next morning, I quickly went to school and pretending like everything was the way it should be. That I was just a normal girl, that that was nothing “special” about me. The hours seem to pass slow for some reasons. A single period felt close to an eternally. By the time school was done, I felt like I had just age 30 years.

“Okay”, I thought, following Oliver’s plan to a precise. “Next stop; Newman’s Chemicals.”

And that bring me back to the beginning, where I am standing alone in an elevator, with my back against the elevator’s silver wall.

“Aaahhhh......“, I slowly sigh, “Aaahhh.....”

The large, silver door of the elevator open up a few seconds later, revealing the spotless, white hallway leading to Mr. Newman’s private office.

Ignoring the hallway, and heading directly into Mr. Newman’s office, I wasn’t surprise to see the normally cheery, Mr. Newman, stress and sweating, with quite literally a mountain of paperwork on his desk.

“Hey Mr. Newman”, I said, quietly closing the door behind me as I came in.

Mr. Newman, his hand currently running through his hair, stop for a bit to look up at me.

"Miss Reader!“, yell Mr. Newman, kicking his chair back and quickly getting up. ”Hello! Welcome back! Glad to see you again!"

"Yeah Mr. Newman“, I reply, thinking about what Mr. Newman had just said. Only once had Mr. Newman call me “Miss Reader”, and that was when we first met. Ever since then, he been calling me by my nickname, Sammy, like everyone else does.

“Oh”, I thought nervously, “I don’t think I’m going to like where this is heading.”

"Please sit“, said Mr. Newman, extended his hair toward the plastic chair across from him. Not wanting to be rude, I reluctantly took the empty seat.

“Okay”, I said, slowly getting into the seat, “Mr. Boxwood down at lobby said you wanted to see me. Do you need some help with all of this...paperwork?”

"No, no, no, no, no“, repeated Mr. Newman, shaking his head and hands left and right. ”I--I--I called you up here to fire you."

"What?!?!“, I scream.

"I’m sorry Ms. Reader“, said Mr. Newman, not even looking me in the eyes. ”But after the stunt you and your friend pulled....well...I just can’t have that!! That why, of this second, you are no longer allow here!!"

"But Mr. Newman“, I said, getting up from my seat.

"Ms. Reader“, interrupted my “former” boss, ”Please DO NOT make this any more difficult for me!! I didn’t want to do this, but THANK TO YOU, NOT ONLY DO HAVE A TOXIC MESS OF CHEMICALS TO CLEAN AND REORDER!!! BUT NOW YOUR PARENTS ARE THREATENING TO SUE ME!!!"

I was speechless. I try saying something, anything, but the only thing to come out my mouth was carbon dioxide.

"AND NOW, BECAUSE I HAVE TO REORDER MORE CHEMICALS, IT ALSO MEAN I HAVE TO START FIRING PEOPLE!!!"

"Mr. Newman!“, I finally manage to yell ”If you just---"

“Ms. Reader“, groan Mr. Newman, ”I would really, really appreciation if you were to leave my office right now. Please.”

“..........”

There was nothing I could said or do. Except leave Mr. Newman’s office.

Slowly getting up from the chair, I quietly walk to the office’s door. About to grab the handle, I started feeling dizzy.

“Uh...“, I moan, “Wh--Wh----What the...??”

Trying to just simply shake the feeling off, it instead got worst. My vision started to get blurry, my head begun to ache, and my legs were suddenly feeling very weak. About to open the door, I fell down to the ground.

"SAMANTHA!!!“, scream Mr. Newman as he flee from behind his desk and came to my side.

"Samantha!!“, yell Mr. Newman, helping me up. ”Samantha! What’s wrong?! What’s happen?! Are you okay?!"

“Ooohhhh....“, I groan, “Aaaahhhhhh.....”

Leaving my side, I could only see a blurry Mr. Newman run to the phone on his desk and pick it. He dial a number and impatiently waited for it to be answer.

"Come on!!“, he scream, ”Come on!! Pick up!!! Pick up!!"

Trying my hardest to stay awake, I couldn’t help but slowly drift away, the blurry vision of Mr. Newman the last thing I seen.

“Mmmnnn....“, I quietly murmur, as my vision started to come back. “Aaahhhh.....Where....Where am I....”

Despite having blurry vision, I could still use my other sense. I think I’m in a car. From what I could feel, I think I’m sitting, on some sort of wool-covered seat. There a seatbelt stripped across my chest, and I can hear the rumbling of a car.

“You awake”, ask a very familiar voice.

I very weakly turn my head to the left, and saw my best friend driving.

“Oliver”, I said, now a little life in my voice.

“Hey Sammy”, Ollie said, looking at me and smiling. “Glad to see you’re okay.”

“You called this okay?!“, I yell, “Uhhh...... What happen to me?”

“According to a doctor at Newman’s Chemical”, reply Ollie, “You pass out. From starvation.”

“What?“, I ask.

“You were hungry”, commented Ollie, “Apparently, so hungry that you pass out, right in Mr. Newman’s office. He and Mr. Boxwood had to carry you down from the office. From there, I pick you up.”

“You pick me?“, I said, sounding confuse. “Not the paramedic? Or my parents?”

“No”, continue Oliver, “Mr. Newman did call your parents. But your parents were too far to pick you up. So they call me and I came driving down there as fast as I could. We’re heading to your home.”

Feeling better, and not hungry, I readjust myself to fit more comfortably in the front passenger’s seat of Ollie’s mustang.

Ollie, was seem a little too stress at the moment, reach into the glove component and pull out a few energy bars.

“Here”, he said, tossing the bars into my laps. “Eat up.”

“I’m fine”, I reply, grabbing the bars and tossing them back into the glove component. “And I don’t feel hungry at all.”

“Then why did you faint”, Ollie said, his voice higher than usual. “If you’re okay, then what did you faint?”

"I don’t know“, I scream back. ”And I don’t care! What I care about is getting my internship back at Newman’s Chemicals! Mr. Newman fired me!! He fired me!!"

About to say something, Ollie open his mouth, but stop.

“..... Could this somehow be related to your power”, he said instead, “I mean, you fainting. Could that have something to do your speed?”

Almost forgetting about my “speed”, I took some time to think about it.

“Maybe”, I said, rubbing my chin, “Just maybe.”

I then close my eyes, and started to really, really focus.

“Okay”, I started, “If my recent collapse is somehow related to my “gift”, then...it...it must be a..... another side effects.”

“Side effects”, Ollie repeated.

"Yeah“, I continue, thinking the whole thing through in my head. ”Another side effect! Like the lightning one!!! Maybe.... Maybe because I run faster, it also mean my body act faster!

“Act faster”, repeated Oliver once again, still confuse.

"Yes!“, I scream, ”Yes! Because I can at extreme speed, it must also mean that my body burn through calories faster!! That's must be what I fainted!!!"

"So let me get this straight", Ollie said, letting go of the steering wheel with one hand. "The reason that you fainted was because you didn't eat enough?"

"Yeah....", I moan, falling back into the front seat. "Yeah.... Another side effect of this stupid, stupid gift. Swell....."

Chapter 8: Answers
A/N Sorry it taking me so long to write. Apparently, when it come to technology, I'm curse. Shortly after fixing a virus on my old laptop, a hardware issue suddenly came up, putting my computer out of commission for weeks, which mean I been out of "work" for weeks. Anyway, this took "awhile", but I hope you still enjoy it. Tell your friends about it, especially if your friends is a publisher. Thanks!

Sammy:
"Feeling better?", ask Ollie as he handed me another big bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, "I mean, you're not still hungry. Are you?"

"No", I reply, finishing my 7th bowl of cereal, lifting it high into the air so that I could drink all the milk. Quickly drinking the rest of the milk, I wipe away my milk mustache before talking again. "Thought I never felt hungry to begun with."

"And yet the paramedic said you fainted from hungry", Ollie reply, smiling and handing me the 8th bowl of cereal.

It was about 6 in the evening. The sun was started to slowly set behind the sky, it's bright, new orange rays shining brightly through my sliding, glass backdoor. Ollie and I were back at my house. We drove here after Mr. Newman firing me and after my little "accident". As soon as the two of us enter the house, Oliver went directly to the kitchen to start preparing me some foods. I however wanted to go to my room, but Ollie wouldn't me. He "insisted" that I make myself "comfortable" at the kitchen table while he prepare me a "snack".

"I know, I know", I said, a little annoy. "But I didn't feel hungry at all when I fainted at Newman's Chemical. What's up with that?"

"I don't know", reply Ollie, "But hey, at least we know it has something to do with your speed! That's something."

"Yeah", I whisper, "That's something. Not a lot of something, but still something."

I then started thinking about something.

¨I got my... ¨speed¨ after my fight with that man, right?¨

¨Yeah¨, said Ollie, taking the empty seat next to me.

¨Well¨, I continue, ¨During the fight, I was struck in the head by some test-tubes filled with chemicals, right?¨

¨Yeah¨, repeated Ollie, a little confuse.

¨And then I slipped into a pool of chemicals, right?¨

¨Yeah¨, repeated Oliver once more, still a little confuse. ¨What are you asking me all of this? It sound like you remembering all of what happen.¨

"Yeah", I said, this time taking the word right out of Ollie's mouth, "But there's one thing that is confusing me."

"What's that?"

"Well", I started, "From what I know, Mr. Newman has been working on the formal for months, right? Ordering chemicals, mixing and testing them constantly."

"Sure...", reply Oliver, still lost.

"Well, so far, none of the mixtures he and his scientists have try have ever work? So why did it all of a sudden work on me? I mean, Mr. Newman was originally trying to make some sort of "quick-heal" formula, and yes, apparently, I do have "quick-heal", but where did the speed come from?! I mean, how did I get so fast... so fast?! "

"Well if you're looking at me for answer", commented Ollie, "I doubt I can't give you much."

"Wait", I said, thinking about what Ollie just said, "Wait, what did you just say?"

Staring at me, even more confuse then before, Ollie repeated his previous sentence, very, very slowly.

"Well if you're looking at me for answer, I---"

"Answer!!", I scream, "That's what I'm looking for!!! I'm looking for answers!!"

I then shot up from my seat, accidently knocking back the chair.

"Come on!!", I scream, grabbing my friend's by his hand. "We have to go back to Newman's Chemical!!! There's someone I need to talk to!!"

"Wait! What?!", yell Oliver as he struggling to break free. "Why are we going back to Newman's Chemical!! Who do you need to talk to?!"

"I'll tell you later!!"

Still struggling, I let go of Ollie and quickly run behind him. I then started pushing him. A little afraid to admit, I think I may have use my speed to push him all the way to mustang.

"Come on!!! Come one!!!", I yell, as I force Ollie into the driver seat and then jump into the passenger seat.

"But--But---?!?!"

"GO!!!"

As soon as I scream, Oliver stomp on the gas pedal and we quickly headed back to my "former job".

Within seconds of arriving back at Newman's Chemical, I rush out of Ollie's car and ran straight through the glass door and right toward the security desk.

"Yes!!!", I thought, as I reach the desk. Mr. Boxwood was still here.

"Samantha?", said Mr. Boxwood when he first saw me.

"Mr. Boxwood!!", I shouted, "I need your help with something!! It's about my accident!!"

Mr. Boxwood appear to be a little confuse and shock about my sudden arrive. Instead of replying to my question, he just stare at me with a blank expression. Sighing, I roll my eyes and started talking.

"Mr. Boxwood", I started, "Were there any security cameras in the laboratory?! Did they recorded the break-ups?! At all!?!"

I had to wait awhile before Mr. Boxwood could start talking again.

"Samantha", he said, "What are you doing here? You got fired! And why do you want to see the recording from that night? You can't. They're private property!"

"Mr. Boxwood!!“, I shouted, interrupting his endless talk. ”Please. Please, I need to see the recording. I need to see what happen that night. Please Mr. Boxwood. Please. I'm asking as your friend."

We stare at each other for awhile, the air around us standing still in silent. I clamp my hands together in the hope that that would help. It did.

"Fine", Mr. Boxwood said, lowering his head. "I'll show you the recording. Yes, there were some security cameras down in the laboratory. Only Mr. Newman and I have access to them."

"Thanks you", I said, sighing in relief.

"But before I do", started Mr. Boxwood, "You'll have to promise never to mention this to Mr. Newman, okay? I heard about the downsizing."

"Relax Mr. B", I reply, walking to the other side of the front desk. "I probably can't even talk to Mr. Newman now that my parents are suing him."

"Yeah", commented Mr. Boxwood.

Typing something into the computer, pushing a few buttons, and then turning a few dials, Mr. Boxwood brought up an image of an empty laboratory.

"This is the recording from the night of the break-in. It a few minutes before you, your friend, and the masked intruder wander in. Okay...Okay.. here we go!”

Mr. Boxwood and I watch with wonder as the mask intruder enter the lab first. He wondered around for a bit, picking up and examining some of the chemicals in the test-tubes, before putting them back and then would repeat the whole procedure again.

“A little head up Samantha”, interrupted Mr. Boxwood”, I haven’t really had time to look this over, so what you’re seeing for the first time, so am I.

Simply nodding my head, we continue to watch as Ollie and I enter a few minutes later. The intruder must have somehow heard us, since before we enter, he stop grabbing at the test-tubes and quickly disappear off frame.

By now, Ollie and I had enter the room. As I remember, we too wonder around for a bit, pick up some test-tubes, and then read the notes about the “fast healing serum”. We waited another few minutes before I was ambush by the man, and the fight started.

It felt disturbing watching the fight. I felt like I was back there, fighting for my life with an unknown stranger, the whole thing replaying in my head, only, as the same time, I was on the outside, watching the whole thing. For the first time.

Shaking the feeling, I watch with horror as the man smash me in the head with the case of test-tubes, causing me to fall into the pool of chemicals.

“Okay”, I thought, “This is the last thing I remember, before blacking out. Lets see what happen.”

With my eyes glue to the monitor, I watch as, after my fall, Oliver fought with the bastard. As the man raise his fist to punch Oliver, he duck under the attack and ram his left shoulder into the intruder’s chest. The man stumble back before falling onto one of the lab’s wall. Recovering from the blow, he push himself off the wall and came charging toward my friend. He success in tackling Ollie to the ground, but Ollie manage to push him off with his legs.

Once more, he stumble around, and Oliver took the chance to run right up to him and push him over a table. He trip over the table, accidently flipping it over in the process. As he did, test-tubes holding ever more chemicals fell and broke. However, the man quickly crawl away before any of them could touch him.

Seeing that he was fighting a losing battle, the man look around, before grabbing a set of unbroken, chemical-filled, test-tubes and running away.

Oliver was about to run after him, but then remember me. He quickly ran to me and begun to pull me out from the pool, careful not to touch any of the chemicals himself.

As soon as I was out of the pool, Oliver quickly started checking my pulse and my breathing. He place his two fingers beneath my hand and on my neck, push down on my chest, and place his head on it. He did everything to wake me up, but nothing work. Even from the monitor, I could see myself sizzling. Little bits of fainted, white smokes coming off from my body.

“Whoa....“, sutter Mr. Boxwood as he fell back into his chair.

Panicking now, and pulling the hairs from his head, I then saw how Oliver went back to the table and started looking back at the note I had read before the fight. He quickly skim over the files, stopping occasionally to look closely at a certain page.

He read the files for awhile, before slamming it down and disappearing off frames. He return a few seconds later, with something in his hand.

“What...What is that?“, I ask, squinting my eyes to see better. “It...It look kind of like a needle shot.... Or like a serum. Oh no! Oh no!!”

I watch as Oliver then injected me with the serum.

“Oh my god”, I thought, “He did it. He did it!"

I didn’t even need to see the rest of the recording.

"Thanks Mr. Boxwood!!“, I said, as I started walking away. As I did, Mr. Boxwood started yelling something, but I wasn’t listening. I was too focus on something.

“Quickly” walking out the front door, I headed directly for my “best friend”.

“Hey Sammy”, said Oliver, as he push himself off the hood of his mustang. “So can I finally ask what it is was we’ll---Uh?”

Before Oliver could finish talking, I started vibrating my hands as fast as I could. Within seconds, it turn into a blur, and it didn’t even take a full second later before bright-red electricity started coming off from it. When it did, I slam it into Oliver’s shoulder.

"AAAAHHHH!!!“, he scream, as he jump back, before falling onto his knee. White, fainted smokes then started flowing away from where I place my hand.

"Aaahhh...“, he moan, “Sammy, what was that for?”

"That was for injecting me with the serum!!"

“Wh--What???“, ask Oliver, still moaning over the “shock”.

"I saw the recording!“, I growl, ”I saw what you did to me! You--You---You shot with the serum!!

The confuse look on my friend’s face suddenly vanish into thin air, now a look of horrified on it. Like the one I had when I learn his secret.

“Sammy”, he started, “I’m sorry, but I couldn’t---”

"I don’t want to hear it!!“, I yell, electrifying my hand again, before slapping it back on Oliver's shoulder.

"AAAAAHHHHH!!!!", scream Oliver as he fell to the ground, shaking.

As I watch the "stranger" fall to the ground, I started walking away. I didn't even care about him anymore. He made me into this "monster".

"Sa--Sam---Sammy...", I heard he whisper, but by then, I was gone.

Samantha:
Quickly walking away, I turn a corner before using my power and running the rest of the way. I didn’t know where I was going, but I knew it had to be away from.... that person.

Encasing myself in lightnings, I instantly started to feeling the rush of the wind through my wind as I ran. I started to see the whole world around me slow, right down to the millisecond. It was like as if Father Time himself had hit the big, red button, stopping all of time. Everyone, everything was now just a simple statue, except me. I was still moving like a person.

“Hmm...“, I thought during my run. “Like a person? Haven’t felt “like a person” such I got this stupid speed!”

I ran and ran and ran all around and all over until I trip over something.

"Whoaaaa!!!“, I scream as I fell and started rolling over in a giant, bright-red ball. ”Ah!!! Oh!!! Uh!!! Aaaaahhhhh!!!"

Landing roughly, with my head, back, hands, and about every other parts of my body hitting something burning hot, yet soft.

“ooooohhhhh......“, I slowly moan, slapping myself in the forehead. I stay still for awhile, my eyes close. Just...waiting for something to happen. I didn’t even know what the heck I was. Really, all I knew was that I was somehow hot, with the sun burning down on me, and something also hot but soft beneath me.

“What happen?“, I ask myself, “How did this become my life?”

I then started replaying the series of event in my head: First, everything was normal. I was once just your average, everyday, nerdy teenage girl interning at Newman’s Chemical. I would one bowl of cereal before heading off to school. Afterward, I would then go and work at Newman’s Chemical. I would file some papers, get some coffees, sometimes, I would even be allow to watch some experimental go down in progress. It was one of the best thing ever. Though watching those experimentals was nothing compared to having a friend I'd trust my life with. Now, look at me. I’m alone, and a danger.”

Laying absolutely still for awhile, I eventually started stretching out my arms and legs. I guess I was just waiting for something to happen. Maybe if I was lucky, I would died of thirst or starvation. Thanks to my curse of a power, that wouldn’t be so hard. I waited a few seconds, before closing my eyes, and waiting for the inevitable.

".....mmmm....nnnnnnn......"

As I slowly begun to wake, I was surprise to find my surrounding so dark all of a sudden.

"Wha---What----Where am I.....mmmmnnnn...."

Pushing myself off the ground, I shook my head and rub my eyes.

"Aaaahhhh......."

To my dismiss, I was still alive.

"......Darn....."

Still rubbing my eyes, I was even more surprised to find myself once again in the middle of the desert. Looking around, I find myself in the middle of the desert, at night, away from any signs of civilization.

"Whoa", I said, "How far did I run?!"

Brushing away some sand, I quickly got up so I could get a better view.

"Not so much as a freeway..."

While still looking around, I took a step forward and somehow slip. As I fell, I landed on something hard and smooth.

"Ahh!!", I scream, as I fell, face first, into the rock. Pushing myself up, I was shocked to learn it wasn't a rock I slipped on, but glass.

"Glass...", I thought, confuse. Carefully pushing myself up and off the glass, I started examining the glass. First, I lightly tap against it.

"Fully form glass", I said, still confuse. "Like as if it been burning in a furnace. And---And it was the entire length of my body!!! And right where I slept!"

It didn't take long before I guess what happen. Apparently, while I, I was also vibrating!!!"

"THAT'S IT!!!", I scream angrily, kicking up some sand and watching it turn into glass in mid-air.

"THAT'S IT!!! THAT'S IT!!! THAT IS IT!!! I AM GETTING RID OF THIS....THIS... AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!"

Aiming my head upward, I let my scream echo through the empty fields of desert, with my arms and legs stretch out. During my scream, I think I may have vibrating a little, since I swear I saw some lightnings coming from beneath me.

"I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!! I CAN'T!!!!"

Breathing heavily, and feeling some tears about to come out, I started grabbing at my hair and pulling at it.

"AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!"

Dropping to my knees, and smashing my fists into the sand, I couldn't hold it back anymore. I stop trying, and quickly let the tears fall from my eyes. I started crying.

I watch through the blur in my eyes as my tear hit the sand, and turn it a light-brown color. I don't know how long I cry. I just know that by the time I was done, I was facing a giant puddle of mud.

Still sniffing, I wipe a final tear before getting back up on my feet.

"There's only one place that can help me now", I told myself.

About to "run" over there, I stop for a brief sec to look at my shoe. They're were completely burn, blacker than the desert night, and so were my socks. I was barefoot.

"It's fine", I thought, shaking off the bits of charcoals clothing before running back to where it all started.

Chapter 10: The Evil Doctor
A/N Enjoy and Please Leave a Review

Neil Newman:
As I continue to ruffle through files after files, I took another long, deep breath, before writing down another name.

“Sorry Greg”, I said to myself, “But I can’t afford to keep you anymore. I’m afraid you’re fired.”

Quickly writing down Greg Anthony’s name, I drop the pen and pick up the sheet of names.

“That’s 54 names”, I said, “54 employees soon to be fired.... Still need to fired 46 more.... Darn....”

Rubbing my tired eyes, I started looking around.

It was a late night, already around midnight. The moon was full, shining alone in a lonely, starless night. I was in my office, the only source of light beside the moon coming from my lone desk lamp, sitting in the pitch-black corner of my paper-filled desk.

“Aaahhh....“, I groan, exhausted and tired. Taking a small break, I drop my pen and fell back into my chair.

“I need a break”, I said, staring into the ceiling. “I really, really need a break.”

Decided it would be okay to take a short break, I got up and turn on my computer. For my short break, I thought it’d be amusing if I spy on Boxwood for a bit.

Turning on the computer on my desk, I started looking at the camera feed.

“Haha..“, I though as I press the screen with Mr. Boxwood. Currently, Mr. Boxwood was just sitting at his desk, having a snack and watching something on his desk. He wasn’t really doing anything funny to make me fun, but I was just glad to stop writing down name.

“Aaaahhh...“, I moan after awhile. The next morning would be one of the worst days of my life. Tomorrow, or should I said today, I’d have to fire a 100 of my employees.

“A 100 employees..“, I thought, letting out a sigh. “One hundred employees. Without a job, with family to feed....”

Letting out another sigh, I close my eyes and rest my head on my hand.

I open them in time to see something odd.

"What the---?!?“, I said, slamming my palm into my desk.

I watch as what look like a single fist started to travel from frame to frame!!! The fist travel all the way to Mr. Boxwood, where it punch him in the back of the head!! Mr. Boxwood fell head-first into his desk before falling onto the ground!! Almost too stun by Mr. Boxwood, I was still able to see the fist disappear!!!

"What--What was that?!"

Grabbing my computer by the screen, I started to examining all the little frames on it.

"What was that?!“, I thought, ”What the heck was that?! What just happen!?"

Still examining the frames, I was caught off guard when the same hand that knock out Mr. Boxwood suddenly came flying into my office and hit me in the chest!!!

"OOOOHHHH!!“, I yell as the attack send me flying back into my window wall, almost cracking it.

"aaahhhh....“, I slowly moan, grinding my teeth and pinching my eyes. ”aaaaahhhhh.... What--What was that?!?.....

Slowly pushing myself up, I somehow succeed in standing. Still in pain from “the fist”, I use the wall as leverage while putting my hand on my chest.

“Aaaahhhh.....“, I moan, looking at my door.

It was almost destroyed, the pair of them barely still hanging onto their hinges. Between them was a small, round but crooked hole. So small, only one hand, or fist, could fit through it.

Pushing myself off the wall, I stumble toward the door, hoping to get the heck of out of my office.

As I did, the door suddenly blow off them hinges.

"AAAHHH!!“, I scream, jumping back onto the ground and covering my head, barely avoiding the door in time. Still face-down, I was surprise to be hearing footstep all of a sudden.

“Hello boss”, said an angry voice.

Lifting my head off the floor, I saw it. A single, thin fist, attach to what appear to be a semi-long, thing... arm??? Both of “them” then retracted back to a tall, thin silhouette, standing in my doorway.

“It been a while, Neil”, said the silhouette, slowly walking into my office. As he did, it reveal his face.

“Oh no...“, I said, knowing who it was.

Mr. Boxwood:
“........aaaaaahhhhhhhh......”

As I open my eyes to the world, it appear to be blurry, nothing more than a random mush of colors and shapes.

“...aaaaaaahhhhhh....Wh---What happen.....Aaa--OUCH!!!"

For some unknown, there was a sharp pain on the back of my head, like as if I fell backward and hit my head on a rock.

"aaaahhhh.....“, I continue to moan, ”aaaahhhhh....."

Slamming my left hand on my desk, I manage to pull myself up before falling onto my desk. Slowly, my vision was returning. As it did, I could see my monitor. And Mr. Newman’s room.

"Wh--What the heck?!?!“, I said, as my vision return to normal. Or at least, I think it return to normal. Either I was still seeing things, or my monitor was broken, but....but.... but somehow, on my monitor, I was seeing a man in Mr. Newman’s office. A man with an arm that seem to be stretching....

"Impossible....“, I though, staring mindlessly at the screen. I watch as the man seem to “retract” his arm back into a “normal” length, before walking causally into the boss’s office.

Now, face to face with a down Mr. Newman, the man place his fist mere inches from the boss’s face, before stretching it again and punching Mr. Newman hard in the face!!

I didn’t have to watch the monitor anyway. As soon as I saw what happen, I grab for the microphone of the speaker system on my desk and call for the rest of the security guards at the chemical plants.

"This is an emergency!!!“, I yell into the mic. ”This is an emergency!!! All guards report to Mr. Newson’s offices!!! Immediately!!!"

Turning around, and running to the office, I quickly pull out my hand gun and cock it.

Neil Newson:
Breathing heavily, I started coughing into my fist uncontrollable.

I was in pain. I was injury. I was leaning against my desk, grasping my chest in pain.

“aaaaahhhh....“, I moan, clenching my teeth together.

While I was battling with death, Dr. Earl Morris was busy walking around me, showing me his special power. And bragging.

"You shouldn't have fired me", started Dr. Morris, chuckling and pointing at me. "You really shouldn't have fired me."

"I fired you", I reply in between breathes, "Because of your STUPID test ethic!!!"

"MY STUPID TEST ETHIC!?!", repeated Morris, launching a fist like a rocket into my chest.

"AAAAHHHHH!!!", I scream, falling over, holding my chest.

"My test ethic were what completed the project!!", Morris exclaim, split falling from his mouth. "If we did your way, then the project were have never been completing!!"

Struggling to keep my eyes open, I was horrified when I saw Mr. Boxwood and two other guards quietly walk down the hallway.

"Nnnnn----nnnooo", I struggling to said. I struggle to warn them to stay away, but I was too wounded to said anything.

"What was that!?", joke Dr. Morris, cupping his hand around his ear. "I can't hear you!"

"Hear this!!!", yell Mr. Boxwood in the hall.

"Uh!?", scream Morris, looking behind him.

Almost on cue, the trio begun firing immediately. I watch from the floor as bullets began to fly into my office, riddling my desk and window with holes. As for Morris, he simply dodge them.

Stretching all parts of his body, he turn unbelievably thin and started leaping all over!!!

Even with the three firing, they were no match for the doc. Because of his power, he stretch his power too thin for any of the three to get off a shot.

As soon as the three were out of ammo, Dr. Morris restore his body, and started attacking.

Once more, he launch his giant fist like a rocket and strike one of the guard so hard, he was fling all the way to the end of the hallway.

Distracted by what just happen, the two were taken by surprise when Morris leap right to them and slam his arm into the stomach of the second guard, knocking him unconscious. Now, only Mr. Boxwood remain.

Sammy:
(5 minutes earlier)
Running all the way back to Newman's Chemicals from the desert, I stop just before I could hit the front door of the building, my pitch-black, sizzling, charcoal shoes skidding across the stone ground.

Walking straight into the business, I was expected to just run right pass Mr. Boxwood and just into the laboratory where the fight happen. Hopefully, the notes about the serum were still there, and hopefully, they contain how to get rid of it.

As I walk across the marble floor of my old work place, I stop when I saw something very odd. Mr. Boxwood wasn't sitting at his desk.

"Uh....", I thought.

What was so weird about Mr. Boxwood begin about from his desk was that ever since the robbery started, Mr. Boxwood had refuse to leave his desk.

"Something must have happen", I thought, rushing over to the other side of the desk.

"This is beyond odd", I said once I was on the other side. From the outside, everything seem normal. However, as I move behind the desk, a mess reveal itself. There was paper scatter all over the floor. Mr. Boxwood's office chair was turned over. And the most horrified thing, there appear to be a little bit of blood on the floor.

"What happen here...", I though, forgetting all about my plan. Scanning the area for any clues to what happen, my eyes landed on the monitor on the desk. It show Mr. Newman's office. And in Mr. Newman's office appear to be this... man, who was stretching his limbs!!!

Slowly stepping away, I wanted more than anything to turn my eyes away, but I couldn't. I watch and watch as the battle between the stretching man and the three guards progress. Without so much as a second wasted, the stretching man took out two guards without hassle. As for the last guard, the man started wrapping his arms around the last guard.

As the last guard was pull toward the man, I started to notice something. The last guard, the one with the arm around his neck, was Mr. Boxwood!!

"NNNOOOO!!!", I scream. Breaking away from the monitor, I use my power and started running as fast as I could, straight toward Mr. Newman's office.

Neil Newman:
"Nnnooo...", I slowly and quietly said, trying my hardest to raise my hand. "Nnnoooo......"

I couldn't do anything. I could watch as Dr. Morris tighten his arm, and started to strangle Mr. Boxwood!!!

Struggling to free himself, Mr. Boxwood turn his pistol around and started hitting Morris in his arm with the gun's handle. Raising the gun high in the air, Boxwood slam it right down on Morris's arm, but it didn't do anything. It didn't seem to bother him one bit!!! All it did was make him tighten his grip even more!!!

Struggling for air now, and still smashing, I continue to watch from where I was laying.

Eventually, it was over. Mr. Boxwood drop his gun. He stop moving. Dr. Earl Morris even remove his arm from around his neck.

As Mr. Boxwood fell to the ground, I suddenly felt.... scared. Turning around, and walking back into the office, Morris reveal an evil smile.

"You're next", he said.

Samantha:
Choosing to take the stair instead of the elevator, since it would take too long, I continue to run and run in squares. All the ways until I reach the final floor and was about to turn into the hallway leading to Mr. Newman's office. My plan was to go in there and take out that weird stretching man before he could take out Mr. Boxwood! However, as I turn the corner, I stop.

It...It..It was too late. I was too late.

There, laying still on the ground, was Mr. Boxwood.

"Nooo", I thought, "Noooo. It... It can't be..."

Instantly losing the feeling in my legs, I was on the verge of falling to the ground, when I saw Mr. Newman.

He was barely injury: holding his chest and stomach in pain, breathing so heavy I could hear it from where I was standing, not running for his life from this.. monster! Thinking fast, I use my power to run straight into the office to rescue Mr. Newman!

As I ran into the office, I once more got to see the world around me slow... only... it felt... different.

"AAHHH!", I yell, ignoring the feeling and running pass the man to grab Mr. Newman and then ran back out.

I ran back down the stair as fast as I could, carrying Mr. Newman the whole way and dropping him off at Mr. Boxwood's desk, even before he could said "What the heck?!"

As I dropped off Mr. Newman, I saw that his clothing was beginning to light on fire. Looking around, I thought fast and search the desk for Mr. Boxwood's lunch.

"Found it!", I thought, smiling. Opening the lid to a blank, dark-blue, rectangle-shaped, metal box in one of the desk's drawer, I found a small bottle of apple juice!

Opening it, I dump the bottle of apple juice on Mr. Newman, putting out the sparks in his clothing.

Once done, I left him alone to go deal with that man.

"AAAAHHHHHH!", I scream, running with full force right back into the office.

Just as I was about to enter the office, what look like an arm come out from one end of the door and grab onto the other side!

Realizing what was about to happen, I couldn't stop myself in time, and hit the arm with full speed! I did a backflip right into the office floor!

"Ooohhh!", I yell, falling hard onto the ground.

"AAAHHH!", scream the man, retracting his arm and then grasping it. "What... What happen?! What did you do?!"

Looking at his arm once more, he shake it a bit before letting it stretch again. Still stun by what happen, I couldn't do anything when the man wrap his arm around my leg and started pulling me toward him.

Within only about 30 seconds, we were now face-to-face, with his arm tightly wrap around my arms. Regaining a bit of my conscious, I was able to see the stretching man's face. And he was able to see my.

"You're that girl!", said the stretching man, "From before! In the laboratory!"

"Before", I repeated in my mind, "In the laboratory!?"

"You're...You're the intruder!", I shouted. "You're... You're the one who been breaking in to steal chemicals! You're the one who fought me and my friend! You're the one who did this to me!"

Vibrating as fast as I could, it took less than a second for my power to "charge" my body. Almost instantly, bright, red-electricity started flowing through me.

"What the-?!", shouted a startle stretching man, still holding me. As the electricity travel through me, it conducted right through my skin and into the man's.

"AAAAHHHHH!", he scream, raising his head high. Without realizing it, the man let me go. It was a big mistake.

As soon as the bastard let me go, I brought back my fist and punch the bastard across his ugly face!

I didn't know what I expecting when I punched the man, but what happen shock me! The punch did absolutely nothing.

Instead of hurting the man, or even phasing him the slightly bit, it simply... stretch the chin?

I watch with... "wonder" as the man's chin, after I punch it, stretch outward for a bit, along with the man's jaw! It stretch for a few inches, before returning back to normal!

"Uh?", I said. Mesmerize by what happen, I was caught off guard when the man swung his arm and whack me away.

"Aaahh!", I yell, flying away and hitting the window, almost cracking it.

Feeling extremely wounded, I slowly and painfully pull himself up, using the window as leverage.

"Aaaahhhh", I moan, pinching my eyes shut before opening them. Now breathing heavy, I look back up.

"Okay", I groan, pinching my eyes once more. "Enough of this! Who are you!? And why did you steal all those chemicals!?"

Eyeing me intently, the man brought up his fist and launch it toward me, punching me across the face and knocking me to the ground.

"Oohhh!", I scream, falling back down to the ground.

"aaaaahhhh...", I slowly moan, rolling on the ground. Rolling to where my front side was facing the ground, I started trying to use my elbow and knee to push myself off the ground. As I did, the man stomp on me!

"AAAAHHHH!", I shouted, falling back to the ground for a third times.

Struggling now to lift myself up, with the man's foot on my back, he out of nowhere started talking.

"My name is Dr. Earl Morris", Earl started, "And the reason I stole all those chemicals was for this!"

The doc then place his hand beside my head, and started stretching his fingers! His once normal, long, thin finger turn turn even longer, thinner, the five fingers slowly wrapping themselves around my face!

"mmmm!", I struggling to said as his disgusting pinkie finger wrap around my neck, while the other four quickly tied themselves around me.

Struggling hard to escape, I started to realize something. My power had heal me! Already, I was feeling better! The punching and stomping that Dr. Morris had previous done to me, I... I couldn't feel it anymore!

Feeling beyond a 100%, I started trying to pull myself free.

"Give it up!", mock Morris, tighten his grip around my body, practically squeezing me.

Still struggling to free myself, I soon realize I would have to change tactic if I wanted to escape. Especially when Morris began wrapping his other arm around my neck!

Already, there was three layers of "arm" on my neck, each layers getting tighten and tighten!

"aa! aaa! aa!..."

Quickly losing my breath, I still continue to struggle, hoping that maybe if I push hard enough, I could pull out my arm and climb out!

As I continue to struggle, I ,without realizing it, also started to vibrate! Rocking back, forth, up, and down, I produce enough of a spark to electrocute Morris and make him release me!

"AAAHHHH!", scream Morris as my lightning fry his arm and cause he to stumble back.

Moaning and screaming in pain, he unwrap me, just as I was on the verge of passing out!

Feeling many breathes of relief, I quickly push myself off the ground before quickly running toward the stun Dr. Morris.

"Take this!", I yell, bringing back my vibrating, lightning-charged, fist and sending it directly into the evil doctor's chest!

"AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!", scream Morris, many bright-red lightning bolts shooting out from him.

It may have only been for a few seconds, but it was enough.

As I pull back my fist, I watch as the once, fame, high-and-mighty Dr. Earl Morris fell to the ground, smoking, twitching, and unconscious.

Beyond exhausted, I bended over, my hands rested on my knees, and started taking in as much breathes as I could.

Quickly breathing in and out, over and over, and over again, I eventually regain enough strength to stand back up again. Wiping away a waterfall of sweat from my forehead, I look back at the evil doctor. He was still on the ground, still smoking, still twitching, and still unconscious.

Still panting, I look over my shoulder at Mr. Boxwood.

"Mr. Boxwood", I said, turning away and limping over to him. Dropping to my knee, I just stare at him.

"Mr. Boxwood", I said in my head. "Mr. Boxwood... I can't believe it... You-You're... You're gone..."

I started feeling tears running down my face.

"Mr. Boxwood", I said, trying my hardest not to break into tears. "Boxwood..."

Fighting back the tears, I ,for some reason, found myself slowly lifting up Mr. Boxwood's hand. I place his hand on my and then place my other hand on his.

"This never would have happen if I never got my stupid power", I said. "This never would have happen if I wasn't in that laboratory. This never would have happen if... if... if I never try to save those people from begin fire."

Letting out some tears, I continue.

"I am no hero", I said, letting go of Boxwood's hand. "I just make thing worst. People are going to lose their job. There's a supervillian because of me. I shock my best friend. You're gone."

Still on my knee, I was taken by surprise when something suddenly wrap itself around my neck and pull me back! Within a second, I was slam through the door!

"aaaahhh...", I moan, rolling around and placing my hands on the back of my head. "aaaahhhhh..."

Barely able to see, I saw Dr. Morris stretching his way out of the office, toward the end of the hallway. Before turning the corner and disappearing, he stop and look back at me.

"This isn't over!", he yell, "I'll be back! For you! And Mr. Newman!"

The villain then vanish.

Chapter 12: What to Do

Chapter 12: What to Do

A/N Enjoy and Please Leave a Review

Even with the evil doctor gone, I stay where I was. Beside Mr. Boxwood.

Now that I think about it, I didn't really know Mr. Boxwood that well. In fact, I barely knew him.

He was a lot like your local bagging boy at the superstore. You knew his name, he knew your, but that was about it. Still though, Mr. Boxwood was my friend. And now he was... gone. Just like that.

I didn't know how long I stay with my friend. I only know I left his side when I started hearing sirens. Getting up, I walk to the cracked windows to see a blur of blue and red lights.

Not surprisingly, there was a bunch of cop cars and ambulances, with officers and paramedics rushing into the building. As I continue to watch, I saw Mr. Newman begin carry out on a stretcher by two paramedics. He look badly wounded. So wounded in fact, that he couldn't even tell the cops by his sides what had happen.

Hearing footsteps inch closer and closer, I decided to use my power one last time. Turning completely around, I quickly ran past the line of officers running up the stairs. As I did, I could see in slow motion all of them were armed, with handgun already in their hands.

Ignoring how much I wanted to be in front of one of those, I just ran, and ran, and ran. Until I was couldn't ran any more.

"Aaaahhhh!", I scream, as I fell down to the empty, cold street, exhausted. Once more, I was started to feeling one of the side effect of my power; hungry. Almost as fast as I was, the hungry came and I started feeling dizzy. The whole world around me started spinning and turning blurry. The cold, dark, world.

"nnnnnn...", I slowly moan, pushing myself up.

"What to do", I though. "What the heck am I going to do now? Should I just go back home? Try and forget about all of this? About the speed? About how fast I can run? I mean, can I forget about it?"

Still thinking about my option, I realize that I was on the street, and soon move. Getting up, I had barely taken a step when, all of a sudden, I step on something sharp!

"Ah!", I scream, stopping and lifting up my barefeet. Lodge deep in my right heel was what barely to be a rusted nail.

"aaahhh...", I slowly groan.

Already, there was a trickle of blood quickly floating out from where the nail was. Looking around for help, but seeing no one, I hop my way out of the street and onto the sidewalk, where I sat down to deal with the nail.

"Aaaaahhhh...", I groan once more. "Aaaaaahhhhhhh..."

The nail was in really deep! Already, my feet was feeling like it was on fire! I wanted to pull the thing out, but I couldn't because it would only make things worst!

"Aaaaaahhhhh...", I scream, biting down on my lips.

"Swell!", I thought, "Just swell! Probably the least painful thing that happen so far!"

Thinking about taking back what I said, I was suddenly caught off guard by a voice.

"Sweet heaven!", scream the voice.

"Uhhh...", I ask, quickly looking behind me. The voice, as it turn out, belong to an elderly, dark-skin, medium-height woman, with long, wavy grey hair.

"Sweet mercy!", continue the woman, "What, Oh what on this mighty earth had happen to you?!"

"Can't you tell", I said, sounding a little grumpy, "I step on an nail."

"mmmmmmmmmm", started the elderly woman for a bit. "mmmmmmm... Honey, if you don't mind me asking; Where in Sam's hill are your sneakers? And what have you been stepping in to make your feet blacker than the night sky?!"

"I... lost my shoes", I reply, thinking carefully about how to answer. "I lost my shoes and was heading home when I accidently step on a nail in the middle of the school. I been walking on the road, and that's why my feet are so black."

"mmmmmmmmmmm", repeated the woman once more, putting her fingers to his chin. "mmmmmmmm... Well come on!"

She then started grabbing at my arms and helping me up.

"Wait what?!", I said, startle a little.

"Well sugar", scream the woman, "I ain't one to just leave a little girl here! Especially if that little girl had a nail in her foot and is screaming loud enough to wake the whole neighborhood. Oh and, by the way, I'm Kimberly. Kimberly Wane."

"I'm- I'm Samantha", pausing a bit to catch my breath.

"Well Samantha, let go heal that foot of your", commented Mrs. Wane, looking at my foot as I hobble beside her. "Be warn though, if you get blood on my carpet, you'll be staying to clean it up."

With Mrs. Wane's help, I was escorted into her one-story, pale-yellow house. She open the front door for me, and help me into the small, titled-floor dining room.

Seating me down at the table, she disappear for awhile, before coming back with a large med-kit.

Reaching into it, and pulling out a tools, she started tending to my wound.

"Soooo", started Mrs. Wane, spraying my foot with a disinfected. "What's your problem?"

"Excuse me?", I said, startle.

"What is your problem", repeated Mrs. Wane, looking up from my foot. "I mean, what is wrong with you?"

"Uhhhh...", I mutter, not really understanding the question.

"I don't mean to be noisy", started Mrs. Wane, "But, honey, I got a 6th sense when it came to this type of thing. Sweetie, you should have seen my grandson when he stay with me last summer. Man oh man, the scent I was getting from that boy! Mmmmmmm, honey, a man with a broken nose could smell it from the other side of the planet! Hahahaha... So I'll ask again; What's wrong?"

"Nothing wrong", I reply, actually hearing the lame lie myself. "I mean, nothing too bad."

"Samantha", reply Mrs. Wane, "If I were the devil, then I set your pant on fire! You know why?"

"Because I'm lying", I whisper."

"Exactly", continue Mrs. Wane. "Honey, I though I made it clear. You can't pull one over my head. Hehehe... So, and I pray this is the last time I've to ask, but what is the problem? And honey, be warn, you reek of rotten pineapple."

Feeling myself reach a dead-end, I decided to just fuss up. I mean, telling a completely stranger everything that happen actually seem normal compare to everything else. Of course, I'd have to leave out some "certain" detail.

"I screw up", I started. "Pure and simple. I screw up. I thought I could do something. Something to help other people. But I just screw up. Really bad. And now... Well, one bad thing lead to the next and so on and so on, and now, now I here."

"Hmm...", mutter Mrs. Wane for a bit, "Kind of was hoping for more detail. Nevertheless, I'll work with what I got."

"Work with what you got?", I repeated, confuse. "What do you mean by that?"

"I mean you didn't give me a whole lot", started Mrs. Wane, "So I gotten make due with what I got."

Speechless, I just stare at Mrs. Wane.

"Samantha", said Mrs. Wane, looking me in the eyes. "Something I learn from my many years here on Mother Earth; Things will happen."

Still speechless, I continue to just stare at Mrs. Wane, wondering what she mean.

"Thing will happen", she continue, "Whether they be for the better. Or the worst. We can't really control what happen. What we can control however, is what we choose to do after those things happen."

Now, ever more speechless than before, I started thinking about what I just heard.

"We don't have any control over what happen", I told myself, "But what we do have is control over what happen next."

"Penny for your though", commented Mrs. Wane, putting away the medical supplies.

"Hey", I said, "What-What are you doing?"

"What do you mean", ask Mrs. Wane, smiling.

"I mean, you only disinfected my wound", I reply. "Shouldn't you also take out the nail, disinfected the wound again, and then put on some bandages? I mean.. I no doctor, but I do know my medical fact."

"Ha!", laugh Mrs. Wane. "Well, Ms. Know-It-All, did you know that you're an extremely fast healer?"

"What?", I said.

"You are a fast healer", Mrs. Wane said again. "Never before have I seen anything like this. Pull back your foot and see."

Curious, I grab my foot and pull it back to see exactly what Mrs. Wane was talking about.

"Unbelievable", I said, staring at my foot. Beside Mrs. Wane wiping away the burnt bits of shoes and disinfected the wound, it... it look like my foot had heal on it own. There was no hole. No blood. Not ever so much as a scar.

"That's quite a gift you have", commented Mrs. Wane. "Fast healing. Maybe you can use that to fix some of your "issues". Hehe..."

"Maybe I can", I reply, thinking it over for a bit. "Maybe I can... Thanks you for everything, Mrs. Wane. It means a lot."

"Welcome", reply Mrs. Wane, smiling. "And please, called me Kimberly. I ain't one for all that formal stuff."

Thanking her one last time, "Kimberly" escorted me to her front door, where she handed me a new pair of shoes, slap me on my back, and sent me on my way.

"A little too big", I commented as Kim close her front door. "Still though, I need shoes."

I put on the shoes and adjusted the shoe laces so they fit me better.

Walking right up to the side, I stood there for a few seconds, thinking.

"Things happen", I started, "Whether they happen for the better or for the worst. We can't control what happen. What we can control is what happen afterward. Words to live up."

Looking back at Mrs. Wan- Kimberly's house, I smile, and started running. I started running, lightning fast.

"First stop: Oliver's house."

Chapter 13: The Start to the End

Chapter 13: The Start to End

A/N Sorry it took me awhile, but now it's done. I FINISH RED LIGHTNING! Enjoy and Please Leave a Review. It's going to be awesome.

Oliver:
Tapping my fingers against my desk, I try and try over again to forget about Sammy, but I couldn't. She was my friend, and we had too much history.

I look out my room's window one more time.

"Sammy", I said, quickening the tapping pace. "Where are you? Where are you?"

Practically going insane with worry, I return back to the my notebook, in the hope that it'd calm my nerves.

Drawing a giant, black-and-white lightning bolt, I had just finished coloring in the lighting bolt with a red color pencil when, all of a sudden, I saw a bright-red flash that blinded me!

"AAHHH!", I scream, shutting my eyes close and accidently leaning too far back in my chair that I fell.

"AAHHH!", I scream once more as I fell on the tiled ground.

Feeling a bit dizzy, I open my eyes and saw a thin, medium-height, blurry person standing right in front of me.

"Oliver!", yell the blurry person, kneeing down to help me.

Slapping me a few times, I regain enough conscious to see it was Sammy!

"Ssss-Sammm-Samantha...", I slowly groan, rubbing the back of my head.

"Really sorry about that", said Sammy, helping me to my feet. "Stopping is still something I haven't master yet."

"Samantha!", I shouted, slamming my hands on her shoulders. "You're-You're here!"

"Yeah I know", Sammy reply, clearing her breath and looking down. "Listen Oliver...I...I... I just want to said I am so, so sorry for everything that happen. I didn't mean to electrocuting him! I didn't mean all those mean things I said. I... I was just angry. And scare. And...And confuse! And..And-"

While trying to finish her sentence, Sammy started tearing up.

"And- I was just so stupid! Stupid! Stupid!"

She then started hitting herself in the head!

"Sammy!", I scream, grabbing her arm. "Stop! Stop. I... I don't blame you."

I let out a sigh before I started talking again.

"I... I never should have injected you with the serum. It's was stupid, and idiotic, and... and... just plain useless!"

"NO!", Sammy scream, sending shock down my nerves.

"No!", continue Samantha, "No. Oliver, listen to me. It was not useless. You injecting me with that serum! It was not unless."

"What do you mean?", ask Ollie, looking confuse. "I thought what I did was the worst thing I ever done to you."

"It... was", whisper Sammy, her expression changing completely. "It was. But now it's not! It's the one thing we have that'll help me defeat Dr. Morris."

"Who?", ask Oliver, now looking even more confuse.

Thinking it over a bit, I decided to tell Oliver everything that happen so far; from the moment I shock him and left him, to when I went back to Newman's Chemical in hope to get rid of my power, to when Mr. Boxwood... fell asleep. I ended the story with what my friend, Mrs. Wane, told me.

"What we do have control over is what happen after those things happen", I said, quoting Kim and finishing my story.

Looking back at Oliver, I wasn't surprise to see Ollie as white as a ghost.

"...Whoa...", whisper Oliver, placing his hand on his head and stumbling around for a bit.

"That-That-That all happen?!", said Ollie after awhile. "All of it?! But-But-But- How?!"

"I don't know", I reply, crossing my arms and looking down. "I mean, I have my speed, but I can't really control it. And Dr. Morris seem so... so in control of his power. You should have seem it! It was like he was born his power, and had been training with them for years! It was miracle I even survive my fight with him. I'll have to be prepare for next time."

"Next time?", repeated Oliver, his eyes suddenly turning a blood-red. "Next time? Next time? Samantha, there wouldn't be a "next time"!"

"What?", I said, shock by Oliver's remark.

"There will not be a next time", Oliver said, more serious this time. "You can't battle Dr. Morris. I won't let you."

About to said something, Oliver stop me.

"Sammy", he started, "Please. Don't go! You yourself said it was a miracle you survive your fight with him! What happen if you're not that lucky again! We can't risk it. I can't risk it."

Sensing what was going on, I place my hand on my best friend's shoulder.

"Oliver", I started, "I can't let down Mr. Newman. I know he fire me after what happen, but he had no choice. That's it. I do have a choice. I can't let Dr. Morris end him like he ended Mr. Boxwood. This is something I can control. I have this... this... gift. And while I may not have wanted it, I still have it. I still have my speed-"

"But-", interrupted Oliver.

"No!", I yell, stopping him and continuing. "My gift, my speed, it may be the one thing we have that can stop him. I won't let Morris harm anyone else."

Practically horrify by my response, we were both startle when we yell some yelling all of sudden.

"Oliver!", scream his brother from the other side of the house. "Oliver! It's midnight! We're all trying to get some sleep! Me! Mom! Dad! GO! TO! BED! Sheesh!"

Looking at each other for a bit, and then at Ollie bedroom's door, we started whispering.

"So what the plan?", Oliver ask, looking at me. "Are you just going to rush in there and try and beat him?"

"I'm going to try", I reply, "I'm-I'm going- I'm going to try."

All of a sudden, I started feeling unbalance and dizzy. My legs become pudding, my brain turn to mush, and my vision was now blurry.

"Oh no", I barely said, struggling to stand.

"Sammy", Oliver ask, grabbing at me just as I was about to fall.

"Foods...", I groan, shaking my head to clear the confusion. "And... And... some new clothes."

I look at my burnt clothes. All the running, and fighting I had done had turn my clothing into nothing but bits of burnt wools.

Remembering the side effects to my power, Oliver quickly left to go get me a few necessaries, but not before gently seating me in his chair.

Oliver return with a plate of cold pizzas, and a bunch of dark-red clothes. For some reason, he even brought with him a pair of... of sunglasses.

"Here", said Ollie, dropping everything in next to me. "Eat up... And dress up... And I will leave."

Oliver then quickly left his own room, again.

As soon as he left, I started eating the pizzas and replacing my burnt cloths with the new one.

Oliver's new clothes, as it turn out, consist of a shirt and a pant, along with a new pair of shoes, hoodie and a pair of goggles.

A little confuse at first, I put on the whole outfit, from the shoes to the goggles.

Now, fully dress and not the bit dizzy, I open the door and quickly pull Ollie in.

"You're ready", said Ollie after I let him go.

"Ready?", I repeated, looking at my outfit. "Ready for what?"

"You're ready", started Ollie, "For the fight. If you really going to fight this Dr. Morris man, then you're going to need to hide your identify. Morris may only know your face, but other don't. If Mr. Newman or anyone else we know see you running at lightning speed, it could cause some issues. Just to be safe."

Speechless, and confuse, I just stare at Oliver.

"You're-You're helping me", I said, barely enough to get the words out.

"Yeah I am", smile Oliver, "After all, you need help."

Feeling so move by what Oliver said, I too smile, before hugging my best friend.

"Thanks you", I said, letting out a few tears. Only, these tears were tears of joy. Something I haven't felt in a long while. "Thanks you."

"Don't mention it", Oliver said, hugging me back. "Now, come on. We're heading to the hospital. If Dr. Morris really is after Mr. Newman, he be heading there."

"We're heading to the hospital?", I repeated, confuse.

"You need to save your energy for the fight", Oliver said, "We can take my car! It should take no more than 30 minutes!"

Quickly rushing out of the bedroom, the two of us practically stampeded over one another getting through the front door.

Just as I got into Oliver's mustang and watch him start the engine, I stop him.

"Wait Oliver!", I said, slamming my hand on his hands. "I just thought of something. Don't go to the hospital. Head to Newman's Chemical instead."

Looking confuse at first, Oliver didn't say anything. Instead, he step on the gas and headed for chemical plant.

Neil Newman:
It was early morning when I walk back into my business.

Still horrified by what happen last night, I suck up the fear and went back inside so that I could just get it over with. Sadly for me though, I don't think the list was damaged or lost during last night commotion.

Heading straight for the elevator, I push the button leading directly to my office floor and watch the door close. Now, with a little time to think, I rested my head against the elevator's wall and close my eyes.

"What was that?", I ask myself, replaying everything that happen in my head. "I mean, what the heck did I see?! Dr. Morris, a scientist I fired over 10 years ago, suddenly just pop up out of nowhere! And with the power to stretch his limbs! Impossible! And if that wasn't enough, now-now there some sort of weird- lightning person running away! What, or who, was that?!"

Racking my brain to try and figure what was going on, I forgot all about it when the elevator bell rang, signaling me that I had reach my office floor.

Quickly hobbling out of the elevator and toward my office, I once more look around.

My office was still a mess. The window was cracked, my desk was crooked, and there was papers scatter everywhere. None of that really bother me. Not as much as... Mr. Boxwood's unfortunately passing.

While I was recovering at a nearby hospital, a police officer came by to inform me that Mr. Boxwood had been taken to the morgue and that an investigation was going on to try and figure out exactly what happen. I didn't feeling like telling them what I saw, since the last thing I needed was to be check into a mental ward.

Anyway, after telling them that I didn't see anything when Mr. Boxwood... pass, I spend the night recovering before leaving and heading back to work, the whole time, thinking of a ration explanation to what happen.

Looking around my desk, I found the list of employees' names that were to be fired. Reluctantly, I pick up the large, crumple-bit of paper to review the people I'd have to fire.

"Yeah", I thought, "A 100 names exactly."

I then check my wristwatch.

"7:45 am", I said aloud. "That means only about an hour before people start showing up."

"It also means 5 minutes till I can get my revenge!", yell a familiar voice from behind me.

Recognizing the voice instantly, I quickly turn around to face Dr. Morris, grinning!

Without even so much as a second to waste, Morris pull back his fist and launch it like a rocket, punching me hard in the head!

"AAAAHHH!", I yell as the attack send me flipping over my desk.

"Aaaahhhh...", I groan, pushing myself off the floor and grabbing onto my desk for support. "How...How did you find me?! How did you know I'd be here?!"

"You don't think I'm remember working with you!", Dr. Morris yell. "I know your habits! I remember them! I remember that you like to get things over with as soon as possible! Painful things! Like firing a hundred of employees!"

Taking a pause, Morris once more pull back his fist and launch it like a rocket right into my chest!

"AAAAHHHH!", I scream once more as the attack send me flying into another window, cracking it.

"Ohhh", smile Morris, walking right up to my desk and grabbing at the list of names. "Is this the list? Of employees to be fire? Haha, now that's funny. My name on here. David Ricky."

"Dav-David Ricky?", I repeated, barely able to said the words.

"Hahahahaha", laugh Morris, almost crying. "I guess I forgot to mention. I'm the one that been stealing the chemicals! Stealing them as David Ricky so that I could do this!"

Pulling back both his fists, he send them flying toward me with unbelievably speed! With their combine strength, the window behind me broke and I fell!

"AAAAAAHHHHH!", I scream as I was falling out of my office, bits of glass falling beside me.

As I watch floors after floors fade from sight, I was horrified to think the last thing I would see is Dr. Morris, smiling and standing at the open window in my office.

Preparing for the finally part to the fall, I was both relieve and horrified when suddenly, someone grab me by the waist and carry me to the bottom floor!

Sammy:
5 minutes earlier

"Come on!", I yell, "Come on! Come on! Oh come on! I knew I should have just ran here!"

"Well I'm sorry we had to stop for gas", commented Oliver, sounding a bit annoy. "But may I remind you, the last week had been a kind of... "busy"."

Rolling my eyes, I look out the front passenger's window, just in time to the Newman's Chemical building faded into sight. And just in time to see Mr. Newman fall out of one of his office's windows!

"NO!", I scream as I kick open the door to the mustang and jump out. As soon as my feet touch the ground, I started running as fast as I could!

Already encase in red lightning, I was about half-way to the building when I started to notice something strange. Something I-I never felt before.

The running, the lightning, the slow motion vision. It-It all-It all felt normal. It didn't feel weird. It didn't feel different. It-It all felt- right. It felt normal. It- It felt like- like I was born to do this.

Still running at lightning speed, I didn't even take time to think about when I started running straight up the building to grab Mr. Newman by the wrist and run him into the lobby!

Dropping him off in the empty lobby, I waited for him to stop begin in shock. It took awhile.

"Stay here!", I said quickly, disguising my voice. I then left him, running up the stairs to have a face-to-face with the doc.

Taking only 3 seconds to get from the lobby to Newman's office, I was now more ready than ever!

"Wh-What happen!?", yell Dr. Morris, looking out the broken window of the office. "Where are you!? Newman!? Newman, you bastard! Where are you?!"

"He's safe!", I reply, getting into a fighting position. "He's safe from you."

Confuse at first, Morris slowly turn around to face me.

"Ohhh", he said, chuckling a bit. "It's you, in a neat little costume. What?! Think that just because you in a stupid costume, you're all a sudden a superhero!? Pathetic!"

"Give it up, Noose!", I yell, "It's over for you! I beaten you once, I can do it again!"

"What did you just call me?", ask Morris, grinning, "Noose uh? Ha, I can get use to a name like that."

He then started admiring his hand, as he watch his fingers start to stretch in all direction.

"Yeah", he continue, "I can really get use to a name like that. As for you, you never beaten me! You ran, like a coward! I won't make that mistake again. This time, the Noose is going to hang you!"

Pulling back one of his fist as far back as he could, he launch it forward, its traveling speed almost matching my!

Dodging to the left, I ran toward Noose with my fist vibrating into a charged blur! Delivering my own attack into Noose's chest, it shock him and he fell down to his knee!

"I'm not the same person from before", I said angrily, standing above the villain. "This time, I'm not afraid."

Pulling back my lightning-charged fist, I was expecting to just punch Morris and get it over with. However, Noose had other plan.

Moving faster than me, he caught me off guard and swung his arm! His arm, stretching at least 10 feet longer, send me flying into the wall!

"Oooohhhh!", I yell as I hit the wall before falling onto the ground.

While pushing myself up, I was startle when Noose wrap his arms around my feet, and started spinning me around! After a few rounds, he started tossing me from walls to walls, like as if I was a ping-pong, and the walls are the racket.

After what felt like the hundred bump, I regain enough of a sense to start rubbing my feet together! Instantly, there was smoke! And a second later, there was electricity!

Just as I think there is enough of a charge to shock Noose, I was suddenly let go and was send flying onto the desk, only to roll over it and fall onto the floor.

"aaaahhhhh...", I moan, painfully pushing myself off the ground. As I did, I look up to face Dr. Morris.

"Didn't think I would fall for that again, did you?", smile Noose.

Still smiling, Noose wrap his arms around me and then toss me into the air! While in mid-air, Morris lifted up his stretching feet and kick me with it! Flying through the open doors, I landed with a loud thump against the tiled floor and slid across it!

Eventually stopping, I quickly got back up before Noose could do anything else.

"Aaaaahhhh...", I moan, shutting my eyes and clenching my teeth. Every parts of my body string. I was out of breath, out of steam, unbelievably tired. I didn't even know how I was standing!

Mustering whatever energy I had left, I was startle when I started hearing someone shout my name.

"Sammy!", yell the voice.

"Uh?", I said, trying to pinpoint the voice. Looking behind me, I was shock to see Oliver hiding in the stairwell!

"Oliver!", I scream, hobbling over to the stairwell, "What are you doing here?! Get out! It's too danger to be here!"

"I'm here to help", Oliver declare, coughing and panting. "Sor-Sorry... Took the stair... Didn't want to alert Morris... Tired... Tired..."

"I'm getting you out of here", I said, shooting an angry face at my friend.

"...N-No", Oliver said weakly, "Here...to... tell... you... Speed... not everything... you have... Meet... me in... storage..."

I then watch as Oliver disappear, purposely leaving the door open.

"Storage?", I repeated in my head. "Storage? What in storage? And what did Oliver mean when he said speed is not everything I have."

I started racking my brain to try and figure- figure out something.

"My brain", I thought, "My brain. That's it! That's what Ollie mean! Before I got my power, I was smart! Speed alone can't defeat Noose! Fast feet and big brain is what will kick this bastard's butt!"

Thinking it over a bit more, I then remember something very, very important! Something I heard about the storage!

"Half a shipment of liquid nitrogen!", I thought, smiling. "Mr. Newman ordered half a shipment of liquid nitrogen just last week! Oliver must have somehow find the shipment, and want me to use it to freeze Noose!"

It was a genius plan! Mr. Morris's stretching body is in a sort of... "goo-like" state. Goo is very temperamental substance! It can't get too cold, else it'll freeze! I have to freeze Morris. That's it!

Looking back toward Mr. Newman's office, I saw the evil doctor slowly making his way out, his arms and fingers swinging wildly.

"I'm surprise you didn't run", commented Morris, grinning. "I'm mean, that is what you do."

"I will said this only once", I started, bending my knees and clenching my fists. "I'm not the same person I was before. I not scare anymore. I not afraid of you. I not afraid of my power. I'm not just some girl who show up at the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm here to stop you. I am... I am... I. Am. Red Lightning."

Pushing myself off the ground like a rocket, I started running toward Noose as fast as I could, charging my whole body with as much lightning as I could!

"AAAAARRRGGGHHHHH!", I yell at the top of my lung, as I jump into the air, raising my fist.

Eyes widening, Morris swung his arms from his sides to his front and launch at me amass of ensnaring fingers!

Though a few did ensnare me, I had enough of a head start to push pass them and punch Morris right in his chest!

"AAAAHHHH!", he scream as, instantly, his body charged up with electricity, and he stumble back, all his limbs retracting with him!

Just before his hand could retract all the way, I grab it and started running toward the staircase!

Busting through the door, I continue to run and run and run down the stair until I started to feel his arm begun to pull itself back!

Thinking fast, I quickly tied his fingers around the rails before letting go!

"Okay!", I said to myself, "I'm- I'm about 12 floors down from the top floor, Mr. Newman's office floor! Storage is the second to last floor, between the lobby and the laboratory! Just about 10 more floors to go!"

Estimating how long it could take, I was horrified when all of a sudden, Noose fell right in front of me!

"What the-!?", I shouted, looking back at his tied fingers. They were still tied to the rails!

Trying to figure out how he got from the top floor to where we are now, Noose wasted no time. As soon as he landed, he aimed his arm like a gun and fire his fist!

Narrowly avoiding the blunt of the bullet, I jump to the left! His fist still caught me! It strike me in the right hip and force me spin around! As I spun around, I accidently hit the rail and fell right off!

"AAAAAAHHHHH!", I scream as I started falling pass the remaining floors.

About to fall pass the 3rd floor, I was relieve when someone caught me by the hand!

"Ooofff!", I yell, as I hit the railings. "What-What the-?!"

"Hold on!", cry Mr. Newman, struggling to keep me from falling. "Hold on!"

Groaning the whole time, Newman pull me back up over the rail, The two of us landed on the stair!

Out of breaths, and running on nothing but fumes, Newman and I both decided to rest for a bit on the staircase.

"Thanks for that", I said after awhile.

"Yeah", reply Mr. Newman, resting his head against the wall. "Yeah. Don't mention it. I mean, you save my life twice, right?"

Resting a bit longer, I then got up.

"We need to move", I said, "We can't stay here! I can drop you off at the exit."

"Okay", Newman weakly said, offering me his hand. "But before I go, I just want to thanks you."

"Thanks me?", I repeated, "For what? Saving your life?"

"For everything", Newman reply, "For saving me. For trying to stop that monster! Thank you."

Feeling another tear of joy about to fall out, I suck up and quickly carry him out to the exit before returning back to the staircase.

"Noose!", I yell, looking up and down the many stairs. "Where are you?! I'm refresh and ready!"

Looking back up the staircase, I was shock to see Noose grappling from floor to floor, shooting his hand from one rail to the next!

In only a few minutes, Noose latch onto the rail in front of me and fling himself toward me!

Jumping out of the way, I started running down the stair as fast as I could, leaving behind scorch marks as I ran!

Reaching the lobby, I try to stop, but instead slid across the ground and fell.

Shaking my head, I look back up in time to see Noose punch through the stairwell door!

"A little more now", I said, looking at the door leading to storage. "Just a little more now."

Preparing myself, I stay long enough for Noose to see me, before I ran right the storage's room door, breaking the door right off it's hinges with my bare shoulders!

The Newman's Chemical's storage room was a large room, where all the chemicals not use in the experimental were put to be use for later.

"Oliver", I shouted, "Oliver! Where are you?!"

"Right here", Oliver scream, running out from behind some barrels of chemicals. "Glad to see you're still okay."

"Don't know if I use those exactly words", I reply, "I'm running on fumes! I'm not sure how much more I have in me."

"Yeah well we'll make this fast", joke Oliver smile.

Smiling back, I look around.

"So where's the liquid nitrogen", I ask, looking all over. "I mean, do you have it prepare for Noose? Am I suppose to lead him somehow and then you're suppose to spray him with freezing cold stuff!?"

"...What?", Oliver said, looking at me confuse. "What are you talking about? What liquid nitrogen?"

"The liquid nitrogen here in the storage", I reply slowly, "That is why you brought me here, right?"

"...Yeah", Oliver slowly said, "Yeah, that... that exactly why I brought you here. Come on, help me find the containers."

The both of us then scatter throughout the storage room, looking for the liquid nitrogen containers.

Searching every inch of the storage room as fast as we could, we find the liquid nitrogen containers in the back!

"Here they are!", Oliver yell, waving his hands high in the air.

Quickly turning my head, I bended down and started running as fast as I could to Ollie. However, about mid-way to Oliver, I was caught off guard when I was suddenly punch in the face and fell to the ground!

"OOOOHHHH!", I yell as I slid across the floor and bang against some barrels of chemicals.

Shaking my head, I look back up and saw Noose, standing there in the entrance, arms and fingers stretching endlessly.

"Think you really could have escape me by running down here", grin Noose.

Pulling back his arms, he shot them off, but at two different angles!

"Uh?!", I scream, looking at the arms as they bounce off the walls and then come shooting toward me! Within a second, they wrap themselves around my neck!

"-Gaaa-Gaaaaggg-"

Dropping to my knees, I was struggling to pull the hands off! They were tighten with every second!

"Ggggaaa-..."

I was beginning to feel weak... and dizzy. My vision turn blurry, my muscles turn into pudding. I was even started to get headaches.

"ggggaaa..."

Tightening his grip even further than I thought was possible, Noose was pulling on his arms even more and more. It seem like he wasn't going to stop. He kept on pulling and pulling, until... until Oliver shot at him a fire extinguisher!

"AAAAHHHH!", scream Morris as the white foam hit him in the face and he stumble back, retracting his arms.

As soon as he retracted his arms, I drop to my hands, grasping for air.

Holding my neck, I look back up to see Oliver still shooting Noose with the fire extinguisher!

I knew the foam in the fire extinguisher wouldn't last long. I had to freeze Noose fast! Lucky for me, Oliver left by my side a container of liquid nitrogen.

Pushing myself up, I knock over the container and kick it toward Noose. It roll toward Noose just as the foam in the extinguisher empty! Running toward the barrel as it hit Noose, I strike it with my bare hand and release from it the liquid nitrogen!

"AAAAHHHH!", scream Noose once more, shielding himself as white ice quickly form all over him.

As the liquid nitrogen started to spread, I grab Oliver and ran back a little.

We then watch as Morris began to lose his stretching power. His arms and fingers quickly return back to normal size.

"Did-Did we win", I ask, looking at Oliver and then at Noose.

"No", reply Oliver startle, his face filling with worry.

Wondering what was wrong, I look back at Noose to see him quickly defrosting, the ice covering him quickly melting! Already, he was started to stretch free!

Stepping back, I had to think of something fast! And I did.

"Stay here!", I yell as I started running out of the storage. Running as fast as I could, I ran out of storage, out of the chemical plants, out of the whole town and into the desert!

Skidding into the desert, I stop. I then slowly turn around.

"Okay", I said to myself, "This is it. This. Is. It. I'm putting everything I have into this last run."

I then started breathing in and out slowly. Once I was refresh, I place my hands on the guy, bended one of my knees and straighten the other.

Taking in one last breath, I push myself off the ground and ran.

I ran with everything I got. I ran with every bit of energy I had left. I ran with angry, and- and with passive, and-and-and- and with no resistance!

I wasn't fighting it anymore. I wasn't trying to hold back. I... I was... I was... I was happy with my speed. I was comfortable with it. It- It- It felt so right. This- This is my. This is my speed. This is my gift. And I won't waste it!"

Running faster than I ever though I could, and seeing everything in slow motion, I ran right back into it! I ran through the desert, back into the city, back into Newman's Chemical, and right back into the storage unit!

"AAAAAHHHHHHH!", I scream, breaking right through the storage's door to give Noose one last, lightning-charged punch.

Punching him right in the chest, my attack send Noose flying into the back wall and knock him unconscious! A loud thud could be heard when his back hit the wall.

"...Yeeeesssss...", I very, very tiredly moan, "Weee...did it..."

I then fell to the ground, tired. As I fell to the ground, Oliver rush to my side and started to help me to my feet.

"You did it", Oliver said, smiling. "You defeated Noose. Congratulation."

Helping me to my feet, we look back at the unconscious Noose, before heading for the exit. While slowly walking over the broken doors, we gave one last look at Noose, and then left.

"Okay grandma", smile Brian as he suddenly started to stare at his phone while taking a seat.

"Hey Brian", I started, taking a bite of my pizza. "How's life?"

"Fine", he reply, digging into a plastic bowl of mac n cheese. "Just got this neat picture from my grandma. Here, you want to see it?"

He then offer me and Ash his phone.

"Is that a newspaper article?", Ash ask, squinting over her nacho to see the picture better.

"Yeah", Brian slowly answer, rubbing the back of his head. "She just got her new phone, and is having trouble with the stupid camera. Still though, I think I can make out some of the headline."

Turning his phone around, Brian started trying to read the picture.

"Nnnneewww hhhero-", Brian slowly started, "Redddd Lightning save bank hostage! A real Flash!?"

"FLASH!", I scream, splitting out my chewed pizza and grabbing Brian's phone. "LET ME SEE THAT!"

Zooming in and eyeing the picture better, I started examining the picture.

There, on the phone, was a picture of someone... someone encase in red lightning! And according to the words underneath that I can barely read, the same person can run at super speed!

"Brian!", I yell, climbing onto the lunch table and pointing at Brian and then Ash. "Ash! Pack your bags! We're going to Carson City, Nevada to meet... Red Lightning!"

"Micheal Steven Peterson!", scream a nearby school proctor, "Get your feet off the table!"

Quickly getting down from the table, I lean over to Brian and Ash and started whispering.

"Pack your bag. We're going to Carson City, Nevada."

"In the middle of the school year", said someone.

I wasn't sure since already, I was thinking of a team-up: Thrill Rider and Red Lightning!
