Kate

Blood. Bodies. That’s the only thing I see in this world. But looking closer standing in the middle of it there is just one thing, no not thing but person. She’s tall, with long black hair, I can’t tell most of her facial features because of the black hooded cape that she has on. But I can tell that she is smiling, and I can’t help and wonder how she can in the middle of this bloody scene. She approaches me, holding out her hand and quietly whispering “Don’t fight it, give in to the hunger and awaken.” And that’s when I wake up.

Another crazy and messed up dream, but this ones new. I think to myself, before looking out the window near my bed.

Who was that girl? Why was she on that bloody field? Why was she smiling? I sigh, it’s just another dream.

I could say I’m use to them now, bloody dreams like this one, I’ve had more then a few of them now a days. But this is the first time that the person I saw that spoke to me, usually I just watch them, like a movie. I get up and get ready for school, ignoring the dream just like the dreams that came before.

“Morning mom!” I say cheerfully as I walk into the kitchen.

“Hello, honey! You’re just in time for breakfast.” replies my mother as she puts down a plate of pancakes on the kitchen table.

“Thank you.” I politely said as I reach for the maple syrup at the other side of the table.

“Did you sleep well?” asks my mom as she packs my lunch.

“Yea, I just had another weird dream.” I answer with a mouthful of pancakes.

“Another one? It’s probably because of all those scary movies you watch before you go to sleep.” says my mom.

“Probably.” I say getting up from the table and putting my dish in the sink. Grabbing my lunch, noticing that there’s not much I add in a few more snacks, look at the clock and rush out the door.

“Ah I’m late” I say as I look down at the clock on my phone again to check the time.

“My perfect attendence…” I say to myself as I start to speed up.

“Yo Kate, It’s rare to see you here at this time.” says a voice behind me.

As I turn around to see Damien on his motorcycle. Damien has been my neighbour, since he moved in next door a few years ago. We’re the same age, go to the same high school and have a few classes together.

“Damion.” I say looking back at him.

“So even you have times like this?” He ask as he drives up beside me.

“I’ll make it some how.” I answer as I turn around and continue to walk down the street.

“Even if you were aiming for the attendance award?” he asks on.

I freeze and turn around to face him again.

“Well aright. Get on.” he says as he pats the passenger’s seat behind him.

“Huh” I say as he passes me a helmet.

“Get on the bike common we don’t have all day!” he adds smiling. At that moment I quickly put my helmet to hide my face from him. Since I can feel that my cheeks have turned red.

As I get on he adds “You’ll fall off if you don’t hold onto me tightly.”

“Alright…” I say as I tightly wrap my arms around his waist, but I’m afraid. Afraid that if I get any closer to him he might hear how loud my heart is beating. And if he hears that then he’s bound to find out that I like him.
