Prologue - The Strongest vs The Flame Prince

The continent of Arvan is known as the battle grounds of both the human and demon race. It is not known when the feud started, but it is a fact that both have been fighting for more than a thousand years.

The demons generally have bigger lifespan and surpass humans in every aspect, which in turn pushes the humans in a disadvantageous situation. The humans who did not want to bow down to the superior demon race created different methods to match them, and the best is the hero summoning method.

By sacrificing a high priest, the humans could summon a person from a different world and those that are summoned exhibit unrivaled strength. Seeing the strength of a summoned person, the humans decided to summon more, which lead to the death of many.

Only one can be summoned at a time, and it’s tested that a hero can only be summoned once every hundred years. Even if the hero dies early, the humans cannot summon another and will have to wait for the next cycle.

As the war raged on, different documents got lost, including the theory about the hero summoning. As of now, only the rules about the hero summoning remain and none dares to overstep those rules.

In the year 348 DM(Discovery of magic), the time to summon a new hero has come. The demons began to be more aggressive to stop the humans from summoning another hero, but there was another threat to them.

Alice Callidum, the strongest of the human race, is buying time for the hero summoning to finish. She is a 24 year old lady with tanned and muscular body. She also had brown hair which reached her chest and was tied up in a manner that doesn’t hinder her actions.

Reflected unto her orange eyes was the enemy general, Jax, the flame prince. Jax wielded an axe bigger than his body and slashed the air, sending flames to Alice.

Alice closed her eyes and put her hands on the sword that was still inside her scabbard. She softened her body, and when the flames entered her range, she opened her eyes.

“Half Moon”

Everything around her was cut, even the immaterial flames got cut. Her enemy, Jax, was bewildered by the scene he just saw.

Alice then lunged to the enemy, sending an attack one after another. Jax’ instincts let him block the fast moving blade, but he couldn’t block all. His red muscular body was soon covered in cuts.

Jax was still in daze but after a while, his confusion turned into pure happiness. The passage’s temperature slowly increased, and their own sweat was starting to evaporate.

Alice was getting affected by the heat, so she decided to end it in one attack. She sent a weaker attack, so that she could be deflected and sent away. Jax not knowing her plan, thought it was an opportunity to counter and pushed her back as far as he can.
Jax was overjoyed that one of his attacks finally landed.“How’s that?”

Alice stood up without a single injury and entered a low stance, putting her sword back inside the scabbard. “You’re too weak, are you really a general?”

Jax was slightly agitated, but he didn’t let her words affect his judgment. “I’m not falling for that.”

Alice closed her eyes and didn’t move from her spot.  “This is a trap, so I advice that you attack from a distance.”

Jax knew it was a trap, a trap of what? She was obviously luring him in, but if she is the one telling him to attack from a distance, then shouldn’t he do the opposite?

He was confused yet again, and by the time he made a decision, it was too late.

“Full Moon”

In a flash, Jax’ body was cut to pieces. It should have been over, but Jax’ body turned into flames. “What’s your name?”

Alice stopped for a moment.

“I want to know the name of the first human aside from a hero to defeat me.”

There was no reason to answer, since Alice could end everything now, but she still decided to tell the enemy her name. “Alice Callidum”

Jax then turned around and flew away from the passage.

Alice, who won easily knelt down. Now that there was no enemy in sight, she coughed up blood. She only acted like she could do more, but her body was already past its limits.

If Jax decided to continue the battle, she would have died and the hero summoning would be interrupted.

By herself, she fended off a total of 178 demons and a general. If the hero is stronger than her, then the humans can fight back. With her and the hero, the war might finally end in her generation.

She was in need of medical treatment, but she stayed in the passage and waited for the hero to come out of the ritual room.

Alice sat in the middle of the passage, and just before she lost consciousness, she saw the new hero.

The one that will fight for the humans, the one that will be hailed as a hero ... was a skinny young man. He was wearing a blue long sleeved jacket with pants of the same color. What Alice noticed the most was the young man’s reaction.

The young man was shaking and after seeing the blood around her body, the young man fainted.

She looked dispirited and after a while, she lost consciousness.
