Will you give me your name too?

So you’re Michael?

“Yes.”

2: First Pokemon
First Pokemon

In a small town known as Verdanturf, A young man known as Michael was sitting outside with his friend Madison. Both of them were seventeen years old and both loved pokemon with a passion. However, neither of them were allowed to get a pokemon, because the pokemon lab in Littleroot was too far away.

Michael was tall and stout with Short, Dark Brown hair. He had gray-blue eyes and There was some stubble on his chin.

Madison was short and skinny, unlike Michael. Her hair was fairly long and brown. She wore Glasses over her green eyes.

Michael had recently had a birthday which turned him seventeen. He was talking with Madison near the town sign.

“Mom still won’t let me get a pokemon!” Michael slammed his fist on the sign.

“I’m right here, you don’t have to yell.” Madison said. “And beside, My parent’s won’t let me get a pokemon either. They say Either have Birch come here or wait till I’m eighteen.”

Michael sighed and there was a brief pause.

“Don’t worry about it Michael.” Madison finally said. “I’m sure we’ll get our own pokemon someday.”

Michael looked over to Madison and saw her give a welcoming smile which made him smile.

“Yeah, you’re right…”

A lady walked over to the two of them. She was Michael’s mother.

“Michael.” She said.

“What?” He replied.

“I need you to go into Mauville and pick up some groceries.”

“Fine…” Michael started walking towards Route 117.

“I’ll go with.” Madison followed him. “I don’t have anything better to do.”

They both walked off towards Mauville city. A place that was by far a next gen city. The whole place was practically a building with many other stores and other places in it. It also hosted one of the eight official league gyms in Hoenn.

The owner of that gym was named Wattson.

As they walked down the route, they could see other trainers having battle with each other.

One of the battles had a Poochyena vs a Lotad. Another had a Zigzagoon vs a Dustox.

“If only I could have my own pokemon and go on a big adventure like my Dad.” Michael sulked.

“And I could go on an adventure like my sister.” Madison replied.

“AGH!” A voice shouted off in the distance.

“Huh!?” Michael and Madison said simultaneously.

“What’s going on!?” Michael wondered.

“I think someone is in trouble, we have to go help them!” Madison said.

Madison took off in the direction of the scream and Michael followed.

They ran passed many trees and bushes when they finally saw a heavier man with a beard and labcoat being ambushed by two pokemon. A Poochyena and a Zigzagoon.

“Please help me!” The man shouted. “There are pokeballs in my bag, Use those.”

Madison and Michael quickly grabbed his bag and randomly pulled out a pokeball.

“Go pokemon!” They both shouted.

A blue pokemon with orange whiskers popped out of Michael’s pokeball. There was a frill on it’s head.

“Mudkip, Mud!” It said.

A green pokemon popped out of Madison’s pokeball. It had a leaf like tail and large eyes.

“Tree, Treecko!” It said.

“I’ll take the Zigzagoon, you take the Poochyena.” Madison said.

“Right!”

The Poochyena turned around and Faced Michael and growled.

“Mudkip, Use Water Gun!” Michael exclaimed.

Mudkip opened it’s mouth and a blast of water shot at the Poochyena.

It was knocked back, but it sprang up quickly. The Poochyena pounced at Mudkip and ran into it.

“That was Poochyena’s Tackle attack!” The man being attacked said.

“Yeah, well Mudkip, show it your own Tackle attack!” Michael ordered.

Mudkip rammed itself into the Poochyena. This time the Poochyena didn’t get up, It had been knocked out.

“Now to take care of that Zigzagoon.” Madison said. “Treecko, use absorb!”

“Treecko!” It ran up to the Zigzagoon and grabbed onto it. It started to suck the energy out of the Zigzagoon.

Zigzagoon used it’s tail to push Treecko off of it.

“Zig, Zigzagoon!” The pokemon exclaimed.

It retaliated by using Tackle. It rammed into the Treecko knocking it to the ground. The Zigzagoon backed up and pounced at it again.

“Treecko, Use pound!”

As the Zigzagoon was coming for Treecko, it punched it right in the stomach. The Zigzagoon fell to the ground and fainted.

“Wow. Thank you so much.” The man said. “You used Treecko and Mudkip very well. Oh yes, My name is Birch.”

“Wait! Birch as in, Professor Birch!?” Madison said.

“That’s right. I was on my way to Verdanturf To meet a friend of mine. Uh… Do you know a Wally?”

“Yeah.” Michael said. “He left on his own journey a long while ago.”

“Ah, well I’m going to meet his Uncle. Anyways. Could you do me a favor and hold onto those pokemon for me until you come back to Verdanturf? That is, assuming you live there.”
“Yeah, that’s where we live.” Michael replied.

“We’ll hold on to them for a while for you.” Madison said.

“Thank you very much. It will be much easier for me that way.”

Michael turned around.

“We should probably get going. I’m sure Mom wants those groceries as soon as possible.” Michael said.

“We’ll be back when we’re done.” Madison said to Birch.

“That’s fine, see you two soon.” Birch said as he walked on.

Michael and Madison held out the pokeballs to the pokemon. A red light came from the ball and the pokemon went inside.

Michael looked at his ball with amazement. Although the Mudkip wasn’t technically his, he still held one in his hand, which for now, was good enough for him.

………

Eventually, Michael and Madison made it to Mauville. They talked as they walked around the expansive city.

“I know this is just hopeful thinking.” Michael said. “But what do you think the odds of us getting to keep these pokemon are?”

“I don’t know.” Madison said. “But I was thinking the same thing.”

“Then we could finally go on a journey!”

Michael didn’t realized that he had shouted. Everyone looked in his direction. Someone even walked up to them.

It was a large man with very short white hair and a large white mustache. He wore a green jacket and green cargo shorts.

“Why if it isn’t Michael and Madison.” He said with vigor. “What brings you to Mauville today?”

“Hi Wattson.” Michael said. “Just picking up groceries for Mom.”

“Just as a good boy would do! Now, what’s that in your hand there? Are those Pokeballs?”

“Oh these?” Michael held out his pokeball.

“We’re just holding on to them for Professor Birch.” Madison added.

“Ah, I see. Well, when you finally get your own pokemon, I hope you’ll have me as your first gym battle.”

“Oh, definitely.” Madison said.

“I second that.” Michael added.

“Well, I better get going, I won’t keep you here too long.” Wattson started walking off.

“See ya Wattson.” Michael said.

Michael and Madison got the groceries without wasting any more time.

They finally made it back to Verdanturf where they saw Birch standing outside with Michael’s mother and another man. Michael’s mother saw them and motioned for them to come over.

“Michael.” She said. “Remember how you’d always bug me about getting a pokemon?”

“Yeah.” Michael replied.

“Well, As you can see, Professor Birch is here. Well, I was able to convince him to give you a pokemon.”
“Wait a minute, he’s your son?” Birch asked. “Him and his girlf—”

“I’m not his girlfriend.” Madison said.

“Yeah, don’t just assume things.” Michael said.

“Uh… Sorry.” Birch scratched the back of his head. “These two helped me out earlier. Do you still have Mudkip and Treecko?”

“Of course.” Michael said.

“Well, Why don’t you two just keep them then.”

There was a pause.

“YES!” Both Madison and Michael jumped in the air with huge smiles on their face.

“I can’t believe it!” Michael said full of joy.

“I’ve already talked to your mother about it Madison.” Michael’s mother said. “Looks like you two will actually be able to go on your own journey. Will you two stay together?”

“I don’t know, it depends on where we plan on going after Battling Wattson.” Michael said.

“So you’ve decided to challenge Wattson first?” Birch said.

“That’s right.”

“Well, I can already tell that Madison will have an easier time with that battle.” Michael’s mom said.

“Why’s that?” Madison asked.

“Wattson Uses electric type pokemon.” Birch replied. “You see, Since Treecko is a grass type pokemon, it will resist electric type moves. And Mudkip is a water type pokemon, so It will be weak to electric type moves.”

“Hmm, Then Maybe I should see about catching another pokemon for that then?” Michael said.

“Oh! You just reminded me. Here, take these.”

Birch handed a red device to Michael and Madison, along with ten pokeballs.

“This is a Pokedex.” He said. “It will record data of a pokemon when you see it, all you have to do is point the camera on top of the pokedex at the pokemon you wish to know about. And these pokeballs are for capturing the pokemon. Do you know how to capture a pokemon?”

“No.” Michael and Madison said simultaneously.

“Well then, How about I show you how. But first, why don’t you try out your pokedexes?”

“Alright.” Michael pulled out his pokeball containing Mudkip.

“Go Mudkip.” He said.

Mudkip popped out of the pokeball.

“Mudkip!” It exclaimed.

Michael pointed his Pokedex at the pokemon.

“Mudkip.” The pokedex said in an automated voice. “The Mud fish pokemon. It’s large tail fin propels it through the water with powerful acceleration. It’s strong in spite of its size.”

Madison brought out her Treecko as well.

When it was out, she pointed her Pokedex at it.

“Treecko, the Wood Gecko Pokemon, It quickly scales vertical walls. It senses humidity with it’s tail to predict the next days weather.”

“Awesome.” Michael said.

“now then, why don’t I go teach you how to catch a pokemon?”

“Yeah.” Michael and Madison said together.
