Chapter 1

Hawaii. It is a place of beauty. It is a place where people vacation at in order to escape the harsh winters from North America.

Many couples attend Hawaii, usually because they wish to spend their honeymoon there, but one couple that was attending Hawaii on Valentine's Day was a brown-haired male named Dave and a dark-red haired girl named Suki.

Like most couples, these two lovebirds met in High School and had become a couple a few weeks before their graduation. They also attended the same College, and once they had graduated from their respective fields, they both decided to move into an apartment complex so that they could be closer to each other.

But since they didn't feel ready to move in together at that point in their relationship, they each rented a separate apartment next to each other.

Dave was around 5'7", he was around 150 lbs, he wore square-like glasses that helped his hard blue eyes see things far away and he wore a pair of black shorts as well as a red shirt. He was excited to spend this Valentine's Day with Suki and he wasn't going to let anyone get in the way of that.

But although Dave was excited, Suki wasn't that happy to be at the beach. Sukie wasn't exactly the skinniest girl growing up and she didn't feel comfortable about her body. She was around 200 lbs and because she was ridiculed by bullies for being fat, she opted to wear a pair of long shorts and an orange shirt to try and cover up as much as she could.

Even though Dave didn't care about her weight and loved her for whom she was, Suki didn't feel any better and was still uncomfortable about her body.

While the two were looking for a spot to lay their beach towels on, a shirtless man wearing a pair of black shorts walked past them and said. "You're the reason they invented double doors."

Suki held her head down in sadness after hearing that, but Dave wasn't going to let that comment slide. "Preschool is down the street buddy. I suggest you go there if you're going to open your mouth."

After Dave said that, the man turned around with an enraged look on his face and grabbed Dave by the collar of his shirt. "You listen to me breadstick, that slob you're with is disgusting. Don't you dare try and defend her."

After hearing those words, Dave kicked the man in the nuts and punched him in the face. As the man tried to get back up and fight back, Dave put his foot on his chest and told him off. "I don't know what alleyway you grew up in, but you do NOT insult a woman. She has feelings just like you and I and I'm sure you'd feel insulted if you were made fun of because your appearance."

Dave looked up and spotted some of this guy's friends in front of him also wearing black shorts and having a similar body type as their friend. "Are you friends with this guy?"

They nodded their heads in agreement. Dave took his foot off this man's chest and tells them "Then take this jerk-off and leave us alone."

Dave walked back to Suki and the two walked away from the situation.

A few minutes had passed and Dave and Sukie managed to find a spot where they could lay their beach towels down and sit.

While Suki was wiping her tears, she began to talk to Dave. "Thank you for standing up for me, but you could've gotten hurt..."

"I know Suki, but if push comes to shove, I would rather get hurt than watch you get hurt. You mean a lot to me and I hate to see you upset."

Dave then noticed that Suki had her head down and her right hand had curled up into a fist. "It's all because of this stupid body… I'll never look good to anyone because of this stupid weight on my body."

Dave then gave Suki a stern look and grabbed her right hand. "Suki, I don't care how much you weigh. I never did care about your weight because you're still beautiful in my eyes and you need to stop looking down on yourself. Who cares about what those jerks say about your body, if you have people that like you no matter what, then it shouldn't matter if some jerks insult you for it."

Suki then responded with "That's easy for you to say. You've never had this weight issue!"

Dave let out a sigh and continued his speech.

"You're right; I never had the same issue as you're in right now. But you're not the only one that has been bullied because of their body. I've been mocked for so long because I'm as skinny as a twig and had little to any muscle. I was called a geek, a nerd, I was mocked and bullied because of that and it hurt. But you know something Suki, I don't care. I don't care if I'm skinny, or weak, or a geek, because that is someone else's problem and not mine. If I am fine with how I look, then I will only change how I look if it's either necessary to live or because I want to do it."

Suki was silent for a couple of minutes. She knew that Dave was right about the whole situation but she didn't want to admit it. After a while, she let out a sigh and began to speak. "I understand what you're saying Dave. I'm sorry I yelled at you earlier. All my life, I had been criticized because of this weight problem and no one wanted to be my friend because of it. But then I met you, and I finally found a friend… A friend who cared about me, a friend who liked me no matter what… And when I found out that you loved me, it was a lot to take in at first. But Dave, you really do mean a lot to me and I don't want to lose you…"

Dave smiled. "It's okay, I forgive you. You mean a lot to me as well Suki; I never thought I would find someone that loved me back until I met you. " Dave gazed into Suki's eyes for a few moments before he then grabbed her right hand. "Now come on, we came to this beach for a reason so let's go for a swim."

Suki smirked in response. "I agree. Let's go." As Dave began to run into the water, Suki saw that as a challenge and ran after him. They spent the next hour or so in the water swimming around as well as going underwater for a bit to do some snorkelling.

Once they had finished swimming and dried off, they decided to head back to their hotel room that they were renting for the trip. Once they got changed out of their swim clothes and into regular clothing, they decided to leave the hotel and walk a couple of blocks until they arrived at a local Restaurant. As they walked inside, they saw a waiter standing behind a podium and walked over to him.

"A table for two please." Dave said to the waiter.

The waiter nodded his head and led the couple to an empty table nearby. Dave pulled out Suki's seat for her and as the two sat down, the waiter handed them their menus.

Once the two had ordered their meal for the evening, the waiter picked up the menus and walked away.

"Today was certainly a weird one, eh Dave?" Suki asked.

"I agree." Dave then smiled. "But despite the weird stuff, I'm glad that I got to celebrate it with you Suki."

As the two began to blush, Suki responded. "Aww thanks Dave. But there's something I wanted to talk to you about."

"What is it?" Dave asked with a concerned tone in his voice.

"I've been thinking about what you said earlier and I've realized something. I want to lose this weight. Before you say anything Dave, let me finish. It's not because of those bullies; I want to lose this weight because I legitimately want to feel happy about myself. I know you don't care if I'm not skinny Dave and will love me no matter what, but this is a decision I want to make. I want to do this Dave."

Dave was silent for a couple minutes but then he grabbed her hands and smiled. "I believe you Suki. If this is what you want, then I will support you 100 percent on this. Because I love you"

Suki smiled back but felt something on her right hand after Dave said that. When Dave moved his hands back slowly, Suki saw that it was a golden ring with a pinkish tint to it.

"Suki."

Before Dave could finish his sentence, Suki responded. "Yes Dave, I will." Suki began to smile again as tears began to form in her eyes. "Don't worry about these tears Dave, I'm just so happy right now."

As Dave put the ring on her finger, she used her other hand to wipe away her tears. Once the tears had dried up, she grabbed Dave's hands and kissed him on the lips. "Happy Valentine's Day Dave," Suki said after breaking off the kiss.

"Happy Valentine's Day Suki," Dave said with a smile.

And so, after the two finished their meal and left the restaurant, they went back to the hotel room to pack their things. Once that was done, they went to the airport and boarded a plane back home. But although one issue was over for this now engaged couple, the issues of marriage were just around the corner.

2: Chapter 2: Chocolate Easter
Chapter 2: Chocolate Easter

It had been a few weeks since Dave and Suki went to Hawaii to celebrate Valentine's Day. After they got back, Dave and Suki worked together to help Suki slim down enough so that she would be out of the obese class and she lost 20 pounds by the time Easter came around.

During this time, Suki's confidence had increased since Dave was by her side throughout this procedure and she began to open up a lot more to the people around her. But when she got back from the doctor's office one day and checked her calendar, her eyes widened when she saw that Easter was tomorrow. She stared at the calendar for a few minutes with fear in her eyes as she told herself. Oh no, that's a day of sweets... All this effort of slimming down and gaining confidence will be wasted... Suki then decided to walk away from the calendar and go to her bedroom, where she began to cry into her pillow.

But her crying didn't last long as she heard the front door open and she heard a familiar voice. "Suki, are you home?" Suki recognized that it was her fiancé: Dave and replied with a sad tone in her voice "Ya, I'm in the bedroom."

Dave walked into her bedroom and saw that Suki was crying. "Suki, what's wrong?"

Suki let out a sigh and responded "You know what's coming up right?"

Dave responded with "Easter." Dave's eyes widened as he realized why Suki was crying.

"Dave, all that effort you put in is going to go to waste once Easter comes around…." Suki then lowers her head in sadness.

"I don't understand", Dave responded. "Can't you just avoid the chocolate on that day?"

Suki then responded. "Dave, I have a really big sweet tooth for chocolate. When I see chocolate, I go crazy… "

Suki's look of sadness turns into anger after Dave doesn't say anything for a little while. "Dave, just go. I know you're going to try and give me a suggestion on how to control myself or something like that, but I DON'T want to hear it right now!"

Dave tries to respond but Suki throws a pillow at his face and shuts the door. Dave is left surprised by this; he didn't expect Suki to be that enraged by something like Easter. As he walks out of her apartment, he gets an idea on how to make Suki happy.

The next morning, Suki wakes up really tired since she was having difficulties sleeping throughout the night and spots a chocolate egg on her bedside table next to her glasses. When she notices the egg, she smashes it in anger and puts her glasses on. As she gets up, she spots a trail of chocolate eggs leading to her door and Suki's look of anger gets even worse as she grits her teeth. Does Dave think this is humorous or something!

As she walks to the bathroom, stepping over the eggs, she gets ready for the day. But after she finishes getting washed up, she notices that her regular clothes are gone and all that's there is a purple fabric wrapped up. Okay Dave, seriously? What are you doing?

She contemplates unwrapping the fabric but since she doesn't have much of a choice she does so, revealing a purple rabbit costume. As Suki looks at the suit, she asks herself "Of all things Dave, you put me in a rabbit suit? Are you crazy or something?"

After putting on the suit and finishing up the rest of her morning stuff, she heads down the stairs looking for her fiancé and when she heads into the kitchen, everything seems normal. As she wonders where Dave is, someone puts their hand on her shoulder. "Hello Suki."

Suki elbowed the person in the face and turned around to confront the person, only to realize its Dave wearing a similar costume.

Enraged, Suki asks her fiancé "Dave, what were you thinking! Do you think it's funny to take my things! Do you think it's funny to mock me with those eggs?"

But after Suki finishes her speech, Dave proceeds to laugh about it. As she looks at Dave with a confused look on her face, Dave finishes up his laugh and continues the conversation. "Suki, I never took your things. Those eggs you said I put there to mock you? Those were baby carrots wrapped up in similar wrapping. The whole clothes thing? I put them in the closet the night before. As for the bunny costume, I wanted to have some fun with you on this day and in order to keep your mind off of chocolate; I set up this whole thing so that you would be distracted from that temptation. As for why I'm wearing this suit? If you're going to look silly, it's only fair that I share your pain and look just as silly."

Suki then smirked and responded "Well Dave, you certainly got me good. But quick question." Suki's smirk turned into a frown "When will you leave so that I can take this stupid thing off!"

Dave smirks. "I don't work today, so I got all the time in the world. Plus if I leave, what's to stop you from getting chocolate and ruin yourself?" Dave's look turned into a more serious look as he continued. "I'm not leaving Suki, not till we're done celebrating Easter. When I said that it's only fair that I share your pain, I meant it."

Suki sighed. "Fine, so we're stuck in these stupid costumes." Suki then smirked. "But at least I'm not the only one wearing a bunny outfit." She then flicked one of Dave's bunny ears, causing him to blush in embarrassment.

She then grabbed Dave's hands, or paws, and kisses him on the lips. As the two are about to make out with each other, Suki breaks off the kiss, grabs one of the baby carrots and wiggles it in front of Dave's face. "You want this carrot big boy?" Suki's smirk grew wider. "Follow me then." She then slowly walked over to her pull-out couch with Dave following behind and when they sat down, she gave him the carrot and he gave Suki her basket of carrot shaped chocolate eggs.

Once the two were finished celebrating Easter, Suki laid down on Dave's lap and before she went to sleep, Dave rubbed her head and she began to purr like a kitty. Suki then looked into Dave's eyes and smiled. "Despite all that happened earlier today Dave, I really liked spending it with you, even if you do look like a little silly with a bunny costume on." Suki giggled.

Dave smiled after hearing that and responded "Thanks Suki, I enjoyed spending it with you as well. Though I must say, you look really cute as a bunny."

Suki blushed red after hearing that. " .Thanks. You look really cute as well in that suit."

The two gazed into each other's eyes for a bit in silence before the two had a laugh about it. Once they were done laughing about it, Suki decided to fall asleep on her fiancé's lap.

Dave looked at Suki with a smile and said "She looks cute when she's sleeping." Dave then let out a yawn. "Looks like I'm getting tired as well. Happy Easter Suki." She kissed Suki on her forehead before he pressed the lever next to him and turned the couch into a bed and went to sleep.

3: Chapter 3
Chapter 3

Our story begins on a normal day. Dave is getting home from work and is about to pull into the apartment complex where he lives. It's been a hectic couple of months for Dave, he proposed to his girlfriend of 5 years Suki during their anniversary, he recently got a promotion at his job that involves doing Data Entry and for the last week or so, Suki and Dave were planning out a date for their wedding.

As Dave locks his car and walks to the front door, with the weight of all that's happened to him, he tells himself, "It may be rough but seeing Suki's beautiful smile will make this crappy day a little bit better."

When he reaches his apartment on the 3rd floor, he tries to open the door only to find it locked. He bends down and tries to find his key under his mat, but he doesn't find it. As Dave begins to panic, a voice he recognizes all too well speaks to him while twirling something in their fingers. "Looking for this?" Dave then turned around and saw Suki standing in the doorway of her apartment with his key on her index finger being twirled around. Ever since Easter, Suki managed to get down to a healthy weight and started to wear what she deemed as more comfortable clothing. Tonight, Dave saw that Suki was wearing a pair of black slippers, black jeans and a white t-shirt with a yin and yang symbol in the middle.

Dave tried to grab the key but Suki pulled away with a smirk on her face. "No way Davy, not tonight. You'll get this key in the morning. Did you forget what tonight was?" Suki asked

As Dave remembered what tonight was, he let out a sigh and rubbed the back of his head. "Yes, tonight is the night where we spend the evening in your apartment. Just let me get my suitcase and I'll be right there okay?"

Suki's smirk then turned into a smile as she replied, "Okay." She then walked away from her door as Dave picked up his suitcase and went inside Suki's apartment, locking the door once inside.

Once he took off his shoes and put his suitcase next to the door, he went to the kitchen and saw that Suki already made Dinner for them. Dave looked at the table and saw a roasted chicken in the middle, peas, potatoes, and gravy in small bowls centered around the chicken as well as a cherry blossom cover around the table. After he took a seat and the two ate their dinner, Suki was about to get started on the dishes when Dave stops her. "Suki, it's okay. Let me handle the dishes." Suki responds with "No it's fine Dave you had a long day." "Maybe so, but you cooked the food, it's only fair that I clean the dishes. Go ahead and relax, I'll be done shortly."

Suki nodded her head and left the room as Dave began washing/drying the dishes. This took about 15 minutes to fully complete but once he was done, he headed to the living room where Suki was watching Television on her loveseat. When Dave sat next to her, she turned off the TV and started up a conversation with him. "Thank you for washing the dishes." Suki said with a smile. "No problem. It's only fair." Dave replied.

"So how was your day Dave?" Suki asked.

"It was pretty average to be honest. Data Entry isn't the most interesting job, but it does pay really well and the hours are also really good. What about you?" Dave responds.

"It was pretty average as well, though I did get a call from my mom… She was happy about the wedding and being invited, but she was also complaining about how she doesn't have any grand-children from us yet. After she hung up, that got me thinking Dave. We're both in our mid 20's, why don't we have a kid?"

Dave thought about that for a minute before he let out a sigh and responded. "To be honest Suki, I don't know. Having a child is a huge responsibility that will require a lot of time from the both of us. I do like the idea of us having a child but there are so many problems with it right now that I don't think it's the right time. For one, we've never had sex, our ideas of it are vastly different and I don't feel comfortable with it because I worry about it ruining the relationship."

After Suki heard that, she responded with, "Well Dave if we were to have a child, then we would either have sex, adopt a kid, or use one of those injection things that Sci-Fi movies love to mention. Even if my idea of sex is different from yours, I'd be willing to throw that aside for this."

"Okay, but here's another issue. I know that you and I both have jobs that pay really well, but raising a child is going to cost a lot of money and I worry if our jobs will pay enough to not only keep a roof over our heads, but also enough to raise the child properly. I could take more hours at work but that also creates another problem. If I did do that, it means less time for you and our child."

Before Dave finished his sentence, Suki replied. "Well, I could always be a stay-at-home mother."

"But Suki, that still creates a problem because while the child will have a lot more time with you around, it means that you'll have to sacrifice your dream job for it. Plus it also means that our child will hardly get to see his father..."

After Dave finished, the room went silent for a few minutes. Suki was taken aback by what Dave said and was processing what she should do next. After a few more minutes, Dave felt something warm on his left hand and as he looked down, he saw that it was Suki's hand. "Dave, one of the many components in a relationship is about sacrifices that need to be made. If it means that I have to sacrifice my job for this, then I am willing to accept that for our child. Same goes for the whole weight issue because I'm not sure if you know this Dave, but giving birth to a child doesn't come from skinny bitches. But you're right; there are a lot of factors going into this that we aren't prepared for…"

Suki then smiled. "That's why I have a counter-proposal. How about we get a cat? Raising a pet is similar to raising a child, so why don't we give that a shot? If we're able to raise this cat with not that much issue, then I think we can handle raising a kid. What do you say?"

"Okay, sounds like a plan. I got a day off tomorrow so we'll head down to an animal shelter and pick up a cat." Dave then smiled.

"Excellent." Suki smiled. But then her eyes got a little intimate as she began to move her left hand up his arm and began to tug at his shirt.

Dave, feeling embarrassed asked. "Suki, what are you doing?"

Suki then moved in closer and began to whisper into his ear, "You're going on a trip; I'm just making sure you're protected from the dangers of the road..." She then purred into his ear and used her right hand to lift his shirt up a bit, making his skin turn red with embarrassment as Suki began to laugh.

"What are you going to do about it Davy? You gonna stop me?" Suki said egging him on.

But Dave began to smirk as he used his hands to escape and pin Suki to the couch. As he lay on top of her, with his hands pinning hers down, he reached in closer and asked Suki. "Is this good enough Suki?"

Suki smirked. "Not quite, I need you to give me a body check to make sure I don't have anything on me."

As the two gazed into each other's eyes still smirking, Dave knew what Suki was getting at and gave her a kiss. The kiss lasted for a few minutes but once they were done and sweat began to appear on their face, Dave asked Suki, "So, are you ready?"

To which Suki replies, "Not quite. If you have some body armor, then I'll let you do it." She then reached into her pocket and gave Dave something. Once it was in his hand, she nodded her head.

The End.
