Chapter 1

Nicki cracked the door open and entered the house. She carefully closed it and then went up the stairs. She rounded the corner, but suddenly stopped.

…Shit…

There, in front of her stood her dad, looking at her. Nicki stood there like a reindeer in front of spotlights.

"Um, hi?" she said with a nervous smile plastered on her face. He didn't say anything; instead he kept looking at her with an expressionless face. Nicki began to sweat. She averted her eyes from her dad and suddenly found the paintings beside her very interesting.

"Nicki?"

Nicki jolted from her father's voice. She looked up at his face and saw the sleepy eyes of her father.

Maybe he isn't awake yet, Nicki thought and a plan began to take form.

"This is just a dream. Now go back to lala-land," she and walked past him while making spooky gestures. Her father continued to watch her until she was almost out of sight.

"… Ok," he said and walked back to his bedroom.

Nicki ran into her room and shut the door close. "Huff, that was a close call," she sighed. It was 2 pm and she was, of course, not allowed to stay out until 10 am.

It was not like she planned to stay out so long, it just happened. She was glad she only met her father in the hallway and not her mother, because if that happened, all hell would break loose. Only the thought of her mother's reaction gave her shivers. Tiredly, she walked to her bed and then collapsed. She let out a sigh of relief and rolled over to the other edge of the bed.

"Well, well, look what we got here," said a creepy voice. She opened her eyes and saw her sister, only a few inches from her face. Nicki let out a loud yelp and backed away from her sister. "Sid, remove your ugly face from my sight immediately, you almost gave me a heart attack," Nicki said and put a hand on her chest in an attempt to calm her heart.

"Me? Ugly?" Sid said and tried to look hurt, but failed miserably when she started to chuckle hysterically.

"Yes ugly," Nicki retorted and lay on her bed, turning her back against Sid.

"Go away Sméagol, I'm tired," Nicki said. Sid stopped laughing and looked at her sister. She had bruises on her arm and legs.

Ooh, someone was in a fight, Sid thought. Her yellow eyes stared at her sister's body and a big nasty smile crept on her face. She leaned down to her sister's ear whispered.

"What have you to say to our parents about this?" she asked.

Nicki turned around. "Nothing, you've never heard that speech is silver, but silence is golden?" she said and pushed Sid's face away from her.

Get out of my face, She thought and clicked her tongue. Sid took a step back and sighed.

"Seriously, you've skipped all of your training, failed your exams and your behavior sucks. Do you even have a plan for the future?" she said and furrowed her eyebrows.

"What are you, my mother?" Nicki barked and threw her shoe at Sid. It hit her right on her face. But still, her face still held that evil smile.

"Oh no, maybe I should go and get her, then she'll have one or two things to say to you," Sid said and started to walk to the door. Then she suddenly felt a tug on her shirt. Sid's smile grew bigger. She turned around and saw Nicki's annoyed face.

"What do you want?" asked Nicki, a tick mark was forming on her head.

"I'm glad you asked," Sid said and took out a paper and handed it to her.

"I'm just asking you a tiny favor," she said and tried to put on an innocent smile. Nicki looked skeptically at Sid and took the paper. When she opened it, her jaw almost fell.

"Tiny my ass, look at the size of this shit!" she said and began to read.

"Summer activity for beginners. A race with a free holiday in a ship. You'll get the opportunity to train with the professionals and raise your skills." Nicki looked at Sid.

Are you trying to insult me?

"So what do you say?" Sid asked with a hint of hope.

"Yeah, you can do this…"

"Really?" Sid asked excited, but was cut off.

"You can do this… ALONE, Nicki said, pointing to the door.

"Get out," She said and shooed her out.

"Please, you have to be two people to participate," Sid begged, but was pushed out the room. "Not gonna happen," Nicki said and slammed the door on her face.

"If you come with me, I'll let you borrow my new anime Cosplay," Sid tried to bribe.

It was silent for a moment, but then the door opened.

"You better keep your promise, or else," Nicki said and slammed the door again. Sid began to dance her victory dance. In the middle of the dance, she noticed someone watching her. She turned around and saw her father, holding a glass of milk. "What…?" he began, but was cut of.

"Go back to lala-land now. The unicorns are waiting for you," Sid said spooky and rushed past her father.

"Hmm, unicorns," he said and continued to walk down the hallway.

Nicki's room

Nicki walked back to her bed and slumped down on it. A crunch was heard beneath her and she looked down. She sat on the paper Sid gave her.

"It's all your fault I have to do this," she accused the paper. She read it through again. This time, her eyes caught something interesting.
