Prologue: Mary's story

A young girl scurried down the hallway trying to keep up with the others. She clutched her most recent project close to her chest and burst into the room. A man about his 40's pondered her entrance but didn't seem to say much about it.

"Just take your seat, Mary". He said in a quiet tone.

Mary nodded and sat down in her seat. She tightly held onto her essay she took forever to write about. Taking a deep breath she remembered what she was suppose to say and not to say in order to please her mentor.

    "Mary! Your up!".

Mary calmly got up and started for the front. Everyone around her sat back in their seats as if she was a potential threat to them. She calmly walked up on the stage and opened her light pink, delicate lips to speak.

"Today, I am here to talk about one of my assassinations." She started. Nobody in the class dared moved as she continued. "As you all may be well aware of, I am the top assassin in your class, and Mr. McCarty told me to give you guys a brief summary of how I got to be an assassin. I was born on August 26, 1998 in my own house. I was a young but innocent child back then, until my family was savagely killed by assassins from the Eastern Maywok border. I was taken to the orphanage where I was taken into here. The Western Maywok Assassins Union, or the WMAU as you all know it. As everyone in this room should know, this group is an illegal group because they are dedicated to training teenagers, 13-18 how to become an assassin. I started at the age of 10. My very first mission was to assassinate just a normal citizen who had done nothing wrong. I, of course at the time, didn't want to do this. As punishment for my insolence, I was locked away in a cell with no food or water until I agreed to do it. The target was quiet easy. A woman of mid twenties, blonde, short and "well rounded" as I recall. Nevertheless I still went on with my mission, and assassinated her. Nobody to this day knows it was an assassination, but merely she killed herself from guilt over cheating on her husband. I know this because I did something that all assassins must do. Collect data. I started following this young woman, taking notes, and watching her every movement like a hawk, but would be quiet as its prey. I never once regretted my decision in killing her, because being an assassin was my destiny, as it is your destiny. The night I killed her was like any summer night. Calm, humid, and dark. Perfect weather for a night stroll, and an assassination. I followed my target into her house, pretending to be just an orphan, which I guess I was already good at. I killed her without making a sound or leaving a trace, and left her house. I covered all evidence that made it look like it was an assassination from the WMAU. It is that simple, my peers. Follow. Kill. Cover up. Get it ingrained into your heads because it isn't going anywhere for a vacation. You do not want to loose this knowledge my fellow assassins. One more thing before I close us out. If you want to be a good assassin, stop being nice and start looking into reality. I had to do that when my family was killed, I looked into the reality of this world, and the people who deserve to die in it. Thank you for your time". And with that, Mary turned on her heel and walked off the stage, as if nothing had happened. Nobody in the class dared clap for her, for they knew that kindness and appreciation was going to get them nowhere, with Mary Grey.

2: Mission 1
Mission 1

"Ugh! Another boring task I must complete!" A girl spat out in disappointment. She walked out of the classroom proudly raising her head up to show she was superior too all her peers. She dared not look them in the eye unless she was going to speak to them. For she was none other than Mary Grey. A name that will never be forgotten. A name that will stick in the WMAU for the rest of its duration. At age 10 she was already a top assassin and by the age of 13 earned the title "Bloody Mary" after the queen. She never turns her back on any assassination, even if it means killing a child. She is a ruthless girl who has no feelings. Many people believe it was from her terrible past that made her into this monster inside of a 16 year old's body. Mary has been known to pick fights just for the thrill of it, and hasn't lost one yet. As she continued down the hall, peers stopped in awe and watched her walk by. Whispers were exchanged around.

"I heard that she already has 129 deaths confirmed".

"I heard she was told to kill a 9 year old and she actually did it!". Mary knew they were talking about her, but she could care less. Nobody would mess with her, unless if they were willing to pay with their lives. As she continued down the hall, Mr. McCarty stopped her on the way.

"The agency has a mission for you". He said in a stern voice.

"Listen, I know that I beat that kid up already and have to clean the restrooms for it" She grumbled, "What more do they want from me? Weapon cleaning? Target making?" Her voice sent a chill down Mr. McCarty's back. For he to knew not to mess with "Bloody Mary".

"They just want you for a mission is all." He said, "Meet them in the towers". Mary's expression didn't change at all. For a normal assassin at the WMAU, being sent to the tower means you have a VERY important mission to complete. Mary always had important missions so this news didn't surprise her. She calmly walked towards the towers and took a deep breath. No objections, just listen to what they have to say and follow them. She calmly opened the door and saluted three men about their mid eighties in tall chairs.

"Elite Mary Lyn Grey at your service Sirs!" She said. "I have been told you asked for me, what must I do to help the WMAU?". The men looked at each other and whispered. Mary waited impatiently; tapping her foot in unison with the old grand clock. Finally one of the men spoke.

"Mary we are aware that you have had 129 assassinations confirmed and are pleased with your growth as usual". He started. Mary waited for him to finish, but it seems he had forgotten what he was going to say. Mary rolled her eyes in annoyance.

"Please with my growth...?" She echoed as she waited for him to remember what he was going to say.

"Oh, yes we are pleased with your growth, but we have a feeling that you should be working on "blending in" with the rest of Western Maywok". Mary lifted an eyebrow not knowing what this could mean.

"I do not understand sir..." Mary's voice quivered a bit.

"We want you to learn the ways of what a normal life is. Going to school, learning things about the world an-"

"Why do you want me to do this?" Mary interrupted. The men were shocked she dared interrupted them, but did not want to challenge Mary.

"Because, if you let us continue, we feel as if you were trained as an assassin at a younger age then the norm, therefore, we feel like you should learn what the other children learned before they became assassins". Mary was upset. They were wanting her to be a good assassin and now they want her to become a normal child.

"S-sirs I am quite happy with myself being an assassin if your trying to say I'm not happy." She said smiling weakly, trying to get them to reconsider what they were doing.

"Mary. What is done is done, no excuses, no nothing. Your first day of school starts tomorrow at 7:00 AM sharp. Do not be tardy or try to skip out, because we will find out and we will degrade you if you do try anything funny. Mary bit her lip trying to hold back her anger.

"I understand Sirs, thank you..." She turned around slowly, still trying to process the thought of her going to school and living a normal life, as if she weren't an assassin at all. All Mary has known to do is to kill, cover up the evidence, and repeat the process. She opened the door and let it slam behind her. She let out an angered cry and stormed to her room like a spoiled child. She flopped on her bed and started to cry. Truth be told, she was more scared then she was angry. She has only gone outside of the WMAU to assassinate someone, never to befriend someone in school. She felt as if she didn't even need friends. Why have friends, when you have a blade to get what you want? She looked up at the ceiling and sighed to herself.

"Some mission huh?" She muttered under her breath, "Why did they choose me? Out of all the idiots in WMAU they choose me to be their guinea pig to see how long I could last in the real world?" She threw her pillow into the wall and growled. She opened the window to get some fresh air, and looked at the Eastern Maywok border line.

"I'm only doing this for revenge and that's it!" She gritted her teeth together, "Only to avenge my family." And with that, she went to bed to get enough sleep for her big day in school tommorow.

3: Mission 2
Mission 2

The sound of an annoying beep echoed across the dark room. Mary opened her eyes and looked at the alarm clock. 5:00AM, it said. Too early to wake up for school in her opinion. She smashed the clock with such force it broke it; particles of plastic flew in the air and landed on the table. She slowly sat up in her bed and blankly stared at the wall for a bit. Finally deciding to get up, Mary put her feet against the cold floor and started to get dressed. She walked past her assassin's clothes and walked over to a school uniform that had be awaiting her. A blue and green plaid skirt, a white shirt, and a yellow tie. Worst school uniform ever made. She got dressed and slowly walked down the corridors. She grumbled to herself and walked off the WMAU campus and into the town of Western Maywok. Maywok was orginally combined, but when a civil war broke out, it was divided into two different parts; Eastern Maywok, and Western Maywok. Mary continued on her way to her new school. Many people tried to approach her, but they would instantly back off after seeing Mary giving them a death glare. Mary didn't want anyone in her way of her missions. She just wanted to get this "normal life" over with. She never asked for this. She walked into her school building. Western Maywok High. Mary took out her schedule that was given to her.

Dismissal

"It could be worse I guess...". Mary sighed and headed to her English class. It was alright, but the teacher kept on calling on her, which really ticked her off.

"Mary do you know how to properly use a semi-colon?". The teacher asked. Mary rolled her eyes.

"Leave me alone...and stop calling on me, I don't want to be he-". Before she could finish the teacher interrupted.

"Do NOT talk to me like that young la-"

"Listen here you old hag...", the class room gasped, for nobody in Western Maywok High ever spoke back to a teacher. "I don't want to be here right now and your making this experience far less pleasant then it has to be. Now shut up, and leave me alone." Mary warned. The teacher could tell that Mary meant business and didn't speak another word to her. Rumors got spread quickly around the school that Mary was indeed different from the other students. Teachers looked down on her as only a hindrance in class, as Mary would rudely humiliate them with no mercy. As Mary was walking to class, a couple of boys stopped her in her path.

"Mary, Mary quite contrary..." They chanted. Mary, not liking this one bit clinched her fists. but remembered that she must blend in and act like a normal girl. She started to walk off trying to get out of the situation only to be grabbed by the hair by one of the boys. Mary let out a yelp and was enraged.

"LET GO!" She cried. She really couldn't give herself away, but they were attacking her first. She grabbed one of them by the arms and swung him over herself. He flew into the wall and was horrified at this girl's amazing strength. All the boys ran off and Mary let out a sigh of relief. Although she just showed them what she was capable of, she regretted nothing at all. She slowly got up and continued walking to math. Mary actually was starting to like math. For one the teacher wasn't boring like the English teacher, two nobody challenged her about anything, and lastly, she just knew English well. It's just like assassination plots she thought to herself. Analyze what's in front of you, and decipher it...simple...too simple...She slowly rose from her seat and walked to break, which was just nothing but social time. Mary was told to blend in, but she really didn't blend in well. She just was either resistant to meet people, or maybe she was just too nervous. She has always learned to work by herself, without anyone to help her on her missions. Maybe if she thought of school as a mission, it would facilitate the transition into a normal life. After school, she went back to the WMAU in hope of a mission, or at least she could ask for one. She walked up the winding stairs to the tower. She took a deep breath but then noticed something. There was a torch that wasn't there before, brightly dancing with the wind. As she stared at it mesmerized by its beauty, she reminded herself she better get going into the office. She walked on in and saluted the men before her once again, repeating the same old statement.

"Elite Mary Grey at your service sirs!". The men smiled at her entrance and hastily went into the questions about her day at school. Mary rolled her eyes, "Was the most boring place ever. How can people go to that horrid place; the only thing I liked was Math because the teacher actually doesn't sass me". She grumbled. The men were not pleased with her attitude towards the teachers and decided to punish her with doing her homework, and receiving a mission. Mary clearly didn't see the point but admitted that she was too harsh on the teachers. "They had it comin' ya know..." She started.

"Do not challenge us young assassin, for we will punish you further with more missions while having homework. In the real world, you must learn to balance school and assassinating, which takes practice and hard work." Mary was getting more and more furious, and as she stormed out of the room, the touch that once lightly blew with the wind in harmony, was now destroyed by the wind, which once helped it to thrive and dance along. Mary walked back to her room, and decided to call it a night.

4: Mission 3
Mission 3

"Wake up young assassin, its time for your mission". A rude awakening by Mr. McCarty himself. Mary looked at the clock, still trying to focus her vision on it. 3:31 AM. She couldn't believe they were sending her out on a mission at this time of day. Mary, enraged now, threw a pillow at him and sent him out of her room. She reached for her assassin's clothes, but wasn't as excited as she usually was. She didn't want to go out in the middle of the night just to complete a mission. This was her punishment? To go out in the middle of the night and complete a mission? She wasn't thrilled at all, not one bit. After she got dressed she walked threw the hallways, which seemed longer then usual. She felt as if someone was watching her. She got her hidden blades ready.

"Who is there? Show yourself!" She sternly said. "I don't want any trouble, I'm on a mission damn it leave me alone". Out of nowhere, a shadow appeared in front of her and before Mary could even pull out her hidden blade, they grabbed her head and covered her mouth. Mary struggled but the person was too strong. Just then Mary opened her eyes, and realized it was just an illusion. Mary guessed this was from her schizophrenia. She always had illusions of different things, just never like this before. She made it to the tower and walked in, doing the same routine as usual.

    "Elite Mary Gr-"

"No time for that, listen, someone in Western Maywok knows about us, find them and kill them without question. The fate of the WMAU is in your hands, Mary". And without further explanation, they sent her out of the campus and into the town of Western Maywok. This was her mission? Another assassination, of course, why wouldn't it be. Mary climbed up a ladder and was now on the roof of a house. She carefully walked on the roof, and studied her surroundings. She put on her mask and proceeded to quietly jump from on roof onto the next. Her black face mask shadowed her in the dark and watched over her. She skillfully landed on the roof and stopped. She listened in on every conversation of the house, and proceeded to the next house. Finally, after a hour of exhausting searching, Mary found her target.

"We have to tell the town of Maywok!" A man's voice said, "We can't let them continue what they do!"

"We could get killed you know" Said another man, "We can't let the WMAU find out that we know about what they are doing". Mary smirked. She jumped off the house and slowly creeped up to the house. Mary stood there waiting for more information before she killed them. She put her ear against  the window and listened.

"God damn it Stan! Do you WANT everyone in Maywok to die? We have to tell someone, anyone!".

"Bern now isn't the time, we should wait awhile". A pause.

"Waiting is fruitless we need to tell someone no-WHO IS THERE?" Shit Mary thought. She looked around for somewhere or something to hide in. When the man opened the window, everything was still as it could be.

"Bern I think your hallucinations are coming back..." Warned Stan as he walked to the window. Jackpot...thought Mary. Bern killed himself because his hallucinations were driving him mad, and Stan killed himself over his friend's suicide...Mary smiled at the thought and continued listening.

"Still, I can't believe this organization teaches kids, out of anyone else they teach just kids how to be assassins!" Cried out Bern. Stan swiftly covered Bern's mouth.

"Shut the fuck up" he hissed at Bern, "Someone might hear dumbass!" Bern nodded and twisted out of Stan's grip.

"Lets go to bed now shall we?" Asked Stan as he headed to his room.

"Yea, I'm really tired". Yawned Bern. As both of them went into their separate rooms, Mary started to formulate her plan in killing them. Gotta make it look intentional...but how? She walked quietly to Bern's window and peeked in. He was fast asleep, perfect timing. She slowly sneaked into the room without a sound. What if...I made it look like I was a hallucination! She tapped his shoulder and waited for a response. No response. Screw this...She took out a dagger and drove it into his flesh. She covered his mouth so his screams were muffled. She stabbed him over and over again with no second thought. Finally, the victim ceased to move. Mary let out a deep sigh. 130 and about to be 131.

"These are new clothes...great..." She mumbled. Just then Stan entered the room and let out a scream. Mary bolted towards him with feet of a tiger stalking its prey. She took out her hidden switch blade and plunged it into his throat. Stan coughed up blood and fell to the ground gagging and hacking up blood. Mary's face contorted into a smile. She laughed softly while watching his pain. She didn't care much of it, in fact, she was enjoying it. She enjoyed other's misery. Stan tried crawling away, but Mary insisted he stay for a bit longer. She jumped on him and stabbed him more times in the back. Finally, her final victim was dead. She stood up and moved her hair out of her face. She put her bloody daggers into each of there hands. New plan....they got into a fight and stabbed each other to death...she thought. 131 kills and counting. She walked out of the house and sprinted off in the dark. She watched as the houses seemed to talk to her, knowing that she murdered them. It came to the point where she couldn't take it anymore and dove into a nearby river to escape the hallucinations. Instead of it helping, this made it worse. The seaweed seemed to grab her and drag her under the water. Mary lost her breath and then soon let out a breath. Everything went black.

Mission 4

Mary weakly opened her eyes and found herself in a choke hold. She gasped and gagged. T-this can't be an illusion! Who is this?! Mary used her hidden blade and stabbed her captor in the arm. He let out a cry and Mary pinned him down and pushed his head in the water. She watched while he struggled, then realized he was an assassin, from the EMAU. She pulled him out of the water and threw him down onto the ground and sat on him, knocking the wind out of him.

"Who are you? ANSWER ME!" She strangled him even more not letting him even say who he was. He started to turn pale so Mary decided to stop. "Just tell me the the hell you are!"

"I-I'm no-not y-y-our ene-m-my" He coughed in between each word trying to regain his breath. Mary looked at him and strangled him again.

"You're from the Eastern side don't think I'm stupid! You ARE my enemy! Your side killed my family! ALL OF THEM!" At this moment the boy took out his hidden blade with such quick speed that Mary couldn't stop. A pain in her side progressed as red, liquid slowly flew out of her. Mary feel onto the ground holding onto her side and coughed up blood. She stood up weakly while the boy coughed more still trying to regain his breath. "Y-you son of a bitch!" She cried. She punched him back down onto the ground. The blood slowly seeped into the river. Mary watched as the light blue turned into a crimson rose color. The pain was unbearable. The boy kicked her down onto the ground and grabbed her long hair. He took off her mask, showing her face. His eyes widened.

"Whoa..." He muttered under his breath. Mary's eyes became blurred by tears of pain in her eyes. Is this how I die? To the people who killed my parents? NO! She threw her fist at him but he caught it with his free hand. He smirked.

"What's so funny! Do you know who you're dealing with?" She threatened. The boy smirked.

"I should be asking the same question" He answered back. "Do YOU know who you're messing with". Mary winced in pain and felt her eyes flutter.

"Let me go..." She said softly. "Please..." The boy gripped onto her more.

"I wouldn't mess with me, I'm the top assassin in all of Maywok. Do not take me lightly, or I will have your head". Mary glared.

"I'm the top assassin of th-" The boy put a finger on her mouth. Mary felt herself heat up to the face. She had never felt this way before.

"I already know who you are, you must be the person below me in assassinations, Mary Grey if I'm right?" Mary's eyes widened in surprise. How the hell does he know me?

"Who the hell are you?" She demanded. The boy held onto her hair still, starting to stroke it a bit.

"None of your business, you are coming with me to EMAU, no questions, no buts, and if you try to resist, I will kill you on the spot". Mary gasped and pointed off at nothing. The boy, fell for this old trick and turned. Mary instantly had him knocked out on the ground, without any questioning, and ran off. The blood in the river rippled while Mary ran threw the water. She all the sudden found herself stopping and walked back to the boys body. She kicked him hard in the ribs and heard a crack in the bones. She smirked and walked back to WMAU. She walked into the tower and saluted the men.

"Elite Mary Grey, our target has been killed, and the kills have been confirmed". The men smirked and added the two kills she just had next to her name.

"What's their names?" Asked one of them men.

"Stan and Bern, last names are unknown". Mary replied. The men wrote down the names and slowly. The pencil tip broke sending an unpleasant sound into Mary's head. Mary watched as the pencil tip flew across the table and landed on the foor. The same snap was the sound of the boy who she broke some of his ribs and left him there.

"Damn it..." The man sharpened his pencil and eyed Mary. "Why are you still here, go to bed young assassin, but finish your homework so then you can stay in school. But first, go get that wound checked out by our doctor here". And with that they sent Mary off. Mary hated going to the doctor. She felt as if it made her look weak and childish, but an order was an order, and she was bleeding pretty badly. She lifted up her shirt and looked at the wound. The cut was wide open, exposing the flesh. Mary sighed and continued walking down to the doctor. People say he was a perverted man who got fired for trying to rape a patient he had, but that is just rumors. Mary knocked on the door and waited for a response. The doctor opened the door and was surprised to see Mary at the door.

"Oh my...I haven't seen you si-" Mary interrupted him before he could finish.

"Just do something about this damn cut; It's starting to hurt like hell". She hissed at him and walked into the room. The doctor lift her shirt and examined her wound carefully.

"This needs stitching, Mary, what happened anyway?" The doctor asked while he got a needle and thread. Mary rolled her eyes. Should she tell him the truth?

"I ran into someo-thing..." She trailed off. The doctor looked at her with curiosity.

"Into what could've you run into that caused this?" The doctor jerked his head to her wound. Mary grumbled.

"Honestly I'm not sure what it was, but I know it must've been dangerous enough to do this to me". She smiled. "I can still go on missions right?"

"It's better if you stay in school for a couple of days". These words sounded like death to Mary. No assassinating, meant she would been in a bad mood, and just in time for school as well.

6: Mission 5
Mission 5

Mary woke up to her alarm clock again, which had been replaced after the previous breaking of the alarm clock. This was her third alarm clock, but the damn thing wouldn't shut up. She slammed her hand on the clock and started off to school. She was extremely annoyed today, and didn't want anyone to mess with her. She got through her first classes fine, but during break, some guys thought it would be funny to flirt with her. Big mistake on their part.

"Hey there Mary, right?" Said one boy leaning up against the locker. Mary didn't move, only gave him a glare that said it all.

"What's wrong Mary? Having a bad day?" cooed another boy laughing. Mary looked at them with rage boiling inside her.

"I'm Drake, and this is Joe!" Said Drake smiling at her. Mary remained quiet. "Answer me damn it!" He growled. Mary refused to answer and started to walk away. Drake grabbed a hand full of her hair and slammed her against the lockers. He stared into her eyes. Mary's eyes looked back at him full of rage. She wanted to tell him that she could find him and kill him if she wanted to, but she couldn't give away anything about what she does, for this would mean execution. She smirked and looked up at him.

"Who the fuck do you think you are, grabbing onto a girl like this? Boy your mother hasn't disciplined you...I will have to do the honors." With that she kicked him in the ribs and punched him in the face. Rage filled her eyes. "DON'T EVER TOUCH ME AGAIN! EVER!" with each word she punched him more and more. Drake cried out while Joe grabbed Mary and held her against the locker.

"You little bitch!" Said Drake as he wiped some blood off his face. He slowly got up and whispered in her ear. "If you don't behave, I'm gonna treat you like I do my homework...Slam you on my desk, and do you all nig-" Mary slapped him across the face.

"You pervert! You wish you could do that, but guess what, I'm priceless! I won't fall in love with anyone!" And with that she head butted him and walked off flipping her long, light brown hair. "Taa Taa boys...until next time we meet again." Next class was even worse. Many rumors were already being spread about Mary. Mostly, how she took on two boys and beat them up for making her look like a tool. She slowly walked down the hallway, with hallucinations starting and going. It's hard to be an assassin and have hallucinations all the time. The hallucinations started to get worse as she saw people coming and going from her past. She blinked a couple of times and shook her head, and the hallucinations were gone. She looked at the board and saw the teacher was drawing a still life. Mary looked at the still life she was drawing. The mannequin seemed to be talking to Mary, whispering vile things about how she could never blend in no matter how hard she tried. She soon found herself staring out the window, looking at the East Maywok border, and the boy crossed her mind. What was his name? She thought. A ruler smacked down right on Mary's easel with a shattering noise. Mary didn't even flinch, only looked at the now angry teacher at her.

"What are you doing girl?! Pay attention!" She snapped. Mary grabbed her teacher's hand and began to squeeze it hard. The teacher fell onto her knees, but Mary didn't stop.

"Listen here...you do not wanna mess with me, not today...I'm not in the mood and I was looking out the window to escape from one of your boring lessons again. I already know how to draw so there is no reason why you must be so over reactive about this. It's not my fault you just an annoying cunt." The teacher was speechless and ran out of the room crying. The students all looked at Mary with disbelief that she actually had said something like that. Mary flipped her hair once again, letting it gleam in the sunlight. Nothing more satisfying then ruining someone else's day. She slowly walked out of the classroom, knowing that she would be scolded by her leaders. She didn't care though, all she cared about was her main mission in her life, which was getting revenge on the Eastern side of Maywok. They took away a childhood she could've had, they took away what she wanted so badly, just the freedom to be her own person. All she knew how to do was to just kill, cover up, and repeat. She didn't know any other skill with this. After school, she decided to walk down to the river, not because she had to, but because she wanted to. It was her way of relaxing, until she took one look on the Eastern side, she saw him. I left him for dead! How did he...Mary was enraged. He gave her a smile, in which she found to be a taunting "miss me?". She threw her books down in a rage. He then yelled so she could hear,

"Why so angry?" Mary was furious and didn't even hassitate. She run threw the river and threw a punch at him. He caught her fist and spun her around and held her. Mary shoved him away and glared at him.

"I will finish you off damn it!" She cried as she rushed at him with a blade. He dodged all her strikes and caught her hand.

"Now now...no need to be so harsh...pretty" Mary stopped. It was the first time someone has ever called her pretty.

"Flattery will get you nowhere with me. NOWHERE YOU HEAR ME!" She kicked him in the groan and ran back over to her side. She ran back to the WMAU enraged at her encounter with the boy again. What the hell...he called me pretty? WHO IS HE?

7: Mission 6
Mission 6

"God damn it who is he..." Mary spoke softly out loud. Mary was very irritated after yet another encounter with the mysterious boy from EMAU. She thought she had him dead. "He must be tough." She grumbled. She walked into the towers and saluted then men. "Ma-"

"So, I heard you had an encounter with an Eastern Maywok assassin boy." The middle man blurted out stopping Mary in her tracks. "You know the punishment for doing this...do you not?" Mary glared.

"Listen, I never talked to him I want him dead as much as you do, but I feel like if I attract him, we can use that to our advantage." She said softly. "You know, get information out of him." The men looked at each other, then looked back at her.

"This isn't good for you, you can't have anymore encounters with this boy. If you do, we want you to kill him on the spot. Understand?" Mary nodded and was dismissed.

"Who the hell knew I was running into him? Another assassin?" Mary growled. She could've gotten in big trouble all for nothing. She stopped and saw the boy standing there. She blushed hard and shook her head. A-another hallucination! That's all it is!  The boy walked over to her and gently put a hand threw her long hair. Mary blushed more and then he vanished. These visions were getting in her way, but for some reason she couldn't get her mind off him. As she walked to her room, a girl stood in the corridors and smirked.

"Heard ya got in trouble did ya?" She smirked and walked over to Mary. "You think you're so perfect with 131 kills? Come on, that is child's play." Mary glared at her.

"It was you, wasn't it Jane? You spied on me for training again? Trying to be just like me I suppose?" Mary hissed at her. Jane's temper went off the hook.

"You bitch!" She cried out. "You are nothing compared to me noth-" Mary slapped Jane across the face and kneed her in the stomach. Mary slammed her against the wall.

"Listen here you little cunt. Yes cunt, because everyone knows what you do when you're not out on duty. I want you to stop fucking following me and leave me the hell alone! That boy and I are nothing to each other!" She threw Jane into the wall more and more. Jane started to scream but Mary covered her mouth. "Shut up whore...you're nothing to me! You will NEVER be above me. You are always going to be below me!" And with that, Mary left the scene and walked back into her room. That night, she couldn't sleep, so she decided to draw a bit. She took out her oil pastels and her canvas and started to sketch what she was going to draw. She used gentle, yet harsh strokes with the pastels, adding more color to her piece. She didn't know what she had drawn until she had finished. It was the boy, from EMAU. She gasped and quickly took the photo off of her easel. W-why did I...w-when did...what?! She threw it onto the ground and looked at it. It was a perfect drawing of him. Those big round eyes that gleamed with coldness yet were so delicate. That sly smile of pleasantness in his lips. Mary picked it up and decided to hide it.

"I guess I will keep this...for now at least. Can't waste a good work of art!" She hide the picture under her bed and began to draw again, but she couldn't get her mind off of him. In distress, she was worried about what these feelings were that she was feeling. She barely knew him, but she could tell that they might have some things in common with each other.

"I want to know more about him...where he is from...what types of missions he goes on. Who he is..." She trailed off. Finally, she decided that she was going to the Eastern Maywok border, to see if she could find the headquarters. She really needed to know more about him. She wanted to know more about him. Could it be she was interested in him? She went to her closet and started to pack up some supplies. She didn't know what she was doing anymore; she felt as if her body had a mind of it's own. Another hallucination episode started to occur. He was standing in front of her looking into her eyes and saying her name over and over again. More of them started to show up just like clones. She twisted and turned covering her ears and squeezing her eyes shut. She wanted no more of this, she had to find out why he was haunting her. Why was he always in her mind? She got up and instantly headed for the door and left the building. She jumped from house to house without a trace of noise. She looked around the town and jumped onto the street.

"Damn it...I'm not sure if I can pass the border without being spotted..." She grumbled and thought of something. The river. She jumped back onto the roof of the house and ran across the roofs until she made it to the river. She stared at the river, sitting there for what seemed to be hours of waiting, until she saw him. She gasped and instantly jumped behind a chimney. He looked her way. She took a deep breath, hoping he didn't notice. He shrugged slightly and continued to walk along the river. Mary sighed in relief. Why is he stalking me? Why does he care about me so much? Just then, two hands grabbed Mary and threw her onto the ground. Mary coughed up some blood and looked at the person in fear. It was Jane, enraged from what had happened earlier. Jane took a knife and put it against Mary's neck.

"It's over. You will never see daylight again so help me God".

8: Mission 7
Mission 7

Mary stared into Jane's furious eyes. For once, Mary thought that she would die. No, she was going to live no matter what it takes. Mary used the same trick she did on whom she called "Mystery Boy" and stabbed Jane in the arm with her hidden blade. Mary didn't want to kill her fellow assassin, so for the first time, she ran. She ran as fast as she could threw town, jumping on roofs trying to dodge all the knives that Jane was throwing at her. Jane's knives finally skimmed Mary on her side, the same place where the boy had sliced her. Mary winced and made a weak landing on the ground. She glared at an angry Jane, now trying to stab Mary. Mary caught the blade in her hand and struggled with Jane, who was trying to stab Mary in the eye.

"You bitch! Hold still! It will be less painful if you just stay STILL!" Jane missed each stab attempt and finally Mary had enough. She didn't want to do this, but Jane is threatening her. Mary swung her hand at Jane to slap her, but Jane stabbed Mary's hand into the ground. Mary winced in pain. She was trapped! There was no way out of this. Mary held in tears as she struggled. Jane laughed and was about to stab her right in the eye. But just then a shadow appeared behind her and grabbed her. Jane let out a squeal and struggled. The shadow threw Jane into the wall and started beating her up.

"Run, Mary! RUN!" The voice was oddly familiar. It was him! He had come to rescue her, but why? Why rescue someone who is your enemy? Mary took the knife out of her hand and started to run for it. She didn't even hesitate to stop. She could care less about him. But then, she heard a shrill shriek from the boy. Mary felt as if she couldn't control her body. She ran to the sound and found him on the ground bleeding out. Jane had stabbed him right in the stomach. Mary felt the urgent need to help him, for he helped her. It was time for her to return the favor. Mary's hand was bleeding from where the knife had stabbed her. Mary knew she couldn't use her dominate hand, but at least she could use her non dominate. She threw a knife at Jane, but it missed. Jane turned her head to only see Mary punching her in the face. Mary grabbed a knife and was about to stab the girl, until the boy stopped her.

"Let me kill her damn it!" Mary cried as she tried even more the stab a frightened Jane. The boy still held her back. Jane kicked Mary in the chest and ran off. Mary growled. "You made me loose her! You stupid idi-" Just then he kissed her on the lips. Mary was so stunned by this she didn't know what to do. He pulled back and looked into her eyes.

"You moron just shut up..." He hissed at her. "We might get caught." Mary looked at him.

"Who are you?" She asked softly, still in shock from the kiss. The boy smiled.

"Just call me Soto, that's all you need to know." And with that, he vanished into the shadows. Mary sat there on the ground, holding onto her still bleeding hand, and made her way back to the WMAU. The furious leaders were waiting there for her.

"You attacked Jane Evergorth?!" They yelled. Mary didn't wince one bit.

"She attacked first, I had the right to defend myself, didn't I?" She asked them. The men went silent.

"We also heard that you protected a EMAU assassin from Jane. Why?" Their eyes stared into Mary's soul, which made her jump a bit.

"He...Protected me sirs, I still don't know why I protected him my body just...I don't know sirs, but I apologize!". The men didn't look satisfied.

"Then kill the boy, and don't let your feelings get in the way". Mary nodded and walked back to her room, upset a bit.

"But he saved me..." She softly whispered to herself. As she walked down the corridors, all the torches started to blow out from the wind, filling the hallways with darkness and despair. She didn't know what to do, and she didn't know what these feelings were for Soto. She was just as confused as everyone else. Why would a WMAU assassin protect an assassin from the EMAU, and vice versa? She walked down the hallway and found Jane walking into the medical room with wounds on her. Mary watched as Jane gave Mary a threatening look. Mary now had yet another enemy. Like she cared.

The next day, it was time for school again, but in order to get to school she had to go past the river. Once again, she saw Soto walking along the river. Remembering the kiss, she started to walk faster, hoping he wouldn't see her. She didn't want to kill him, but why? She felt he did nothing wrong to her, or to anyone. At school, people were making fun of her for having so many injuries on a daily basis. She couldn't tell any of them why she had all these injuries. She had enough, and once the bell rang, she skipped the rest of the school day. She sat by the river all day, just watching the water flow. She could've sworn she saw some blood still trickling down the river. I must be hallucinating again...she thought. As she sat there, she saw Soto reaching out for her. Mary has had hallucinations of people but not of him before, never of a boy she knew. Mary got up and reached for him, but he vanished into the wind. She had never had these feelings for a guy before. She fell on her knees and started to weep from confusion. Just then, a familiar voice called from across the river.

"What's wrong Mary?" Soto called out to her.
