A Thousand Lives

I hid behind the doorway hoping it wouldnt find me.

My breathing was uncontrollable. My chest was in pain from panting and I began to feel lightheaded. Tears began to stream down my face, mixing with dirt, blood and sweat, as I accepted that I would be found. There's no way to hide.
I could hear the loud creaks of the walls and floors from the hallway.

They're looking.

I jumped as the door behind me started to shake madly. I covered my mouth to keep from screaming as I watched the door knob turned bright red over my shoulder. The metal started to burn and smelled.
Finally, it ceased and moved on to another door in the long, once friendly, hall. Before long it went quiet yet, I couldnt trust that I was safe. Without much options, I decided to stayed where I was without moving an inch.
It felt like two hours have now passed and the house was completely dead as I would be at the end of this useless hunt. My legs were cramped but I was too afraid to move. Sweat was dried on my face and tickled my nose but I refused to rub it.

My head was throbbing. The wound left on the side of my head must have begun bleeding again because I felt something warm slide down my cheeks.

It was incredible that I could be in so much pain and fear while from outside I could clearly the neighbors talk and laugh loudly without the faintest idea that I might be dying in this home. This must be his doing. Tempting me to cry for my salvation and beg for my life.
Slowly, I lifted my hand to wipe the blood off my forehead. I rubbed it off onto my pants. I put my hand on the side my head, looking for the nail that was painfully lodged into the side of my head earlier by the monster. The nail was large and rusty. It numbed the area it stuck out of. I wanted to pull it out so I could die but for the first time I felt like I actually wanted to live. I dont want this. I want to go home.
I dropped my hand back to my lap and sighed.
Suddenly the ground in front of me turned red and head appeared through the wall beside me. It was the face of a demon, one of his helpers.
"She lives." the demon growled followed by the hurried thumps of the floor and walls from the hall again. There was pounding on the door and the knob started burning again. The door burst open. Pieces of broken wood flew across the room, me along with it.

"Ahug." I muttered, holding onto my right eye that a large piece of the door stabbed.

I tried to roll myself onto my back to try to defend myself but I felt weaken by fear of knowing my death could no longer be prolonged.
Then, he entered. This time he was disguised as a tall Caucasian man with black hair and mustache. He stepped in, every footstep left burnt marks on the floor from his slick black dress shoes. He was emitting a steamy aura off his suit as he saw me on the floor holding my injured eye. He kicked my head back harshly to the floor. The nail dug deeper into my skull, making me scream. He grabbed my leg and began to drag me out of the room. His touch burnt through the skin. I cried and struggled and screamed at him to let me go, but he ignored me and held me tighter. I watched my leg turn black.
He pulled me down the stairs and his little demons held my face down so that I would hit every step of the way.
"God save me!" I screamed as we reached the bottom and entered the room we once used to lay in each others arms and make love.
"She cries for God now?" the demons mocked.
He picked me up by my shoulders and without hesitation he stabbed my neck through a metal pike sticking out of the wall.
I couldn't even scream.
Blood ran down my body and drenched my shirt withing seconds. Every time I coughed the blood would make disgusting bubbles.
Why am I not dead? Have mercy.
His mouth moved but I couldnt hear what he said. The only sound in my ears was a loud buzz. Suddenly his demons grabbed my hands and began to pull me deeper through the pike closer to the wall.
I still couldnt see out of my right eye but I managed to see him leave the room with those monsters. They left me in the pike, iches off the floor, to suffer. I laid waiting for death in the warmth of the sunlight that shone through the window. I closed my eyes.

I heard shuffling in my dark room when I woke.

I heard evil laughter by my feet. I weakly moved my head to see but it was too dark. Within seconds I felt their hands crawling over my lifeless legs. I didn't understand what they were trying to do. They were pulling and pinching but...
I suddenly heard a loud rip. their laughter echoed around the room. It wasn't until after that I felt it. It was a horrible pain that felt like my leg was bent upwards.
They threw something that hit by my face and slid down to the ground. I didn't have the strength to move but after a while it began to smell. Finally I peered over once there was light in my room again. It was my own leg, laying under my body, with bite marks and missing flesh with the bone sticking out. I looked down at myself and half of my right leg and almost of my entire left leg was eaten, only leaving the bones.
I began to cry again. My whole body was dying of pain and agony but why cant I just die!
Thats when he entered the room again. This time his appearance was of an executioner from the middle ages with a black hood and large body. He held an axe in his hand and blindfold in the other. He knelled down to me and stared at my face. My lip trembled and I opened my bloody mouth.
"Kill me." I begged my former lover.
"I will. You will relive this and die horrifically for the next one thousand years before I will be satisfied to let you die." he said in a soothing yet vengeful voice.
My eyes squinted, "Why are you doing this to me?"
He strode closer and tied the blindfold around his eyes before holding up the axe.
"Nobody steals from the devil." he said before I saw the axe be brought down to my head.

I held the Prince of Demons ruby necklace in my hands. He watched me put it on, his eyes full of desire and seduction.
"How does it look?" I asked.
He closed the gap between us and held me gently, putting his face into my hair.
"Now you will be able to do fulfill my desires to worthless humans. With that charm I will protect and hide you from heaven."
I smiled at my king. "And earth will be yours." I promised. "I do this for you and in return you make me your queen."
He frowned. "Then it would be wise not to betray me. You've turned your back on your God. On your people. There is reason to not trust you."
I shrugged. "They turned their backs on me first. I get more out of it being faithful to you, my love."
He clenched a piece of my hair and spoke silently and gently but as though warning, "Those who take my things wont be let off easily."
"I already have your heart, don't I? I wont betray you." I smiled confidently as i left his arms, out of this hideout and back to reality.
