Intro

the avatars: the bender of every element. The avatar, whoever he or she has had the ultimate power of fire water, earth, and air bending. The powers could be passed the world of the benders, there were waterbenders, firebenders, earthbenders, and airbenders. Water benders were known to have emotional personalities and sensitivity. Fire benders were known as being hot-headed yet cunning. Earthbenders were hard-headed and stubborn to the core. Then lastly, there were your air benders who were relaxed, laid back, and composed.

In this world of vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, and other creatures, the Bender was always in the background, hidden. You could say benders were the first supernatural creatures of the world. They used to be everywhere until a royal vampire coven came and hunted and killed most of them for their survival. The population of benders started to decrease to where they had to hide their leader of their elemental world. A royal family of the elemental, who had the bloodline of the avatar have been passed down by generation of bloodline.

Today with the The Royal Vampire cove wiping out about more than fifty percent of the population, the royal family does not exist...or so they think. The Royal, evil Vampire coven, had no idea the Council of the Benders have been plotting for the vengeance of their people.

The avatar: The child of the royal Elemental family with the power to bend all elements is the avatar. At the birth of a royal elemental each child is tested. The test is to surround the child with all four elements, and waiting to see if anything happens when he or she is an infant. After the test, the avatar at a certain age is trained by four masters: one of fire, one of water, one of air, and the other of earth. Then after training the avatar will pick three other disciples to train the next avatar after them. The avatar is unable to die until she or he has beared a child. The avatar and his or her four chosen eirs must complete their destiny together because the avatar is not one without his or her eirs.

The eirs: After the avatar is trained by his or her chosen Master, eirs she must find and train his or her eirs. The four could be either male or female who have a connection with the avatar and who he or she can trust. The eirs are special because of their unique ability to double-bend, having the combination of two elements; an eir could be an air and water bender, or an earth and fire, or a water and fire bender; and so on.

Here, we start our journey with Melody Waters, a waterbender who is ashamed of her past and her born gift with water. She is running away from who she is. She thinks running away will make everything better... but we will see.

2: Chapter one: Strangers
Chapter one: Strangers

Welcome to La Push, Washington. A green sign on the corner of the street was greeting me to my new life here in Washington.

Rain rain rain…

It’s been raining for the past hour and a half. I’m supposed to be trying to stay away from water. I sigh and slam my head against the window.

“I have to say choosing a state where it rains almost everyday wasn’t very smart Mel.” I mentally chastised myself because I knew better. But I know I can't help it; water is attracted to me as I am to it.

“In exactly five minutes we will be arriving at First beach for our stop on this long journey from Atlanta, Georgia, to La push, Washington,” explained the driver. I had taken the groundhog here to escape from my past.

Now I’m here in La push, First beach.

When the bus stopped I gathered my things and got off the bus, heading into my first day as a free women. or young lady since I’m only sixteen. How I hope to find happiness and a safe home here.

After I exit off the bus, I go to find my next destination: a hotel called the Wolf’s Den.

Hmmmm, weird name…

I find the place to check in and get a room for the night. Once in my room I go over what I have left: fifty dollars, a few pair of jeans, a few undies, sneakers, two bras, and a couple of chips and a soda. I'm screwed--I could maybe last about two weeks or so.

Urgh, this was terrible.

After I’d done inventory, I decided to go out and get some air. I take my pack with my things because I just don't trust a hotel called the Wolf’s Den. I walk around about ten minutes until I see a little dinner called Emily’s. I walk in and a lot of people are staring. I blush and hide my face under my hood, finding myself sitting in the nearest booth.

A waitress comes up. “Hi, my name is Emily. Welcome! I will be your server for tonight; would you like to try our house special: chicken pot pie? It’s delicious; made it myself.” Her name is Emily; she must be the owner.

“Umm, no thank you,” I softly say. I'm not exactly a people person anymore. “Umm, I’ll just have the four dollar cheeseburger with fries and a coke, thank you very much.” She looks at me and I suddenly look away.

“Oh okay, if you’re sure. But I haven't given you the men--” she didn't get to finish because I interrupted her, saying,  “No, it’s okay. I know what I want--I’m on a budget.”

“Well alright, if you insist.” She turns around and walks back to the kitchen.

I hope she didn't think I was rude. It’s just that I don't really like talking to people or looking them in the eye. It makes me nervous.

As I wait for my food, a guy suddenly walks in. He’s a man with a hoodie on, along with some shorts. He had muscles the size of my face; he was HUGE! Like, I guess he could be six-foot one, two, or maybe even three. But he looked mysterious, and looked like trouble. He came in with a troubling aura, but I couldn't take my eyes off of him--he was mesmerizing. His hair was short and black--rippling muscles showing on his triceps and a five o'clock shadow. He looked like he could be an earth bender. As I was inspecting him, the waitress Emily showed up with my burger, fries, and coke. “Here you go hun, enjoy.” I gave her a shy smile and when I looked up, the guy was staring at me. When I stared back, something happened; something clicked. His eyes went from surprised to lurid to sadness to anger, and to hatred; so much hatred it made me quiver and look away in fear.

I sat and ate my food quietly. He kept staring at me. Even when he sat down in the booth across from mine he kept staring.

Finally, when Emily came to him and asked him what was wrong, I found out his name was Kane. However, he simply ignored her.

Then I couldn't take it anymore. I quickly finished my meal, dropped a ten on the table, and walked out.

His gaze was giving me the chills. I felt like he was the hunter, and I was the prey.

As i was walking back to the Wolf's Den, I felt like I was being followed, so I pulled on my hood and walked even faster, passing an ally, but then I was yanked by someone.

Oh no, not again!

“Mine,” he said, and I opened my eyes I didn’t know were closed. It was Kane. He stroked my cheek and whispered repeatedly, “Mine, mine, mine.”

I was scared. I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to hurt him so I closed my eyes again and hoped he wouldn't do anything.

He bites me on the neck, and I black out.

3: Chapter two: Kane, My New Life, and The Wedding
Chapter two: Kane, My New Life, and The Wedding

It’s been seven months since I have been kidnapped by Kane. I have tried to leave, but it’s like there is an invisible force that binds me to here--and it’s frustrating. The day he kidnapped me, he took me to a cabin in the middle of the woods. It’s a nice, cozy little cabin: one bedroom, two bathrooms, a kitchen, dining room, living room, and a porch with rocking chair. When we first arrived he informed me that this was where I would be living, and I wasn't allowed to go outside; if I did there would be consequences. All I had done at the time was nod. He also informed me that we would be sharing a room, but he would be sleeping on the couch. He showed me where to put my stuff and around the house.

For the first few weeks I begged and pleaded for him to let me go--but he wouldn't; he kept insisting I was his and that I belonged to him. Later on, I told him I would never be his. He got so mad, he punched the wall, started to shake, and left. I had never been so scared in my entire life.

I learned that day that Kane is a complicated man.

After he returned, he apologized and I cried in my sleep. Kane always seemed to do that whenever he got upset: he leaves and returns sometimes after dark. Also on random nights, he leaves and comes back with nothing on but a shirt.

One minute he is nice, and the next a total ass. At first, I was afraid of him and now we kind of have a system: I cook, clean, and stay home while Kane goes to work. He never really talks to me. The only time he talks to me is when he is telling me what to do.I feel so lonely and afraid.  He keeps me isolated here. I'm so sick of it, but do I do anything about it?

No, I do not.

Well, at least it’s a little better than before. I have food, shelter and clothing, But being with Kane isn't all bad; I did meet his friends--like Kim, Ellis, Courtney, Josh and others. I also met some of his family: Emily, Sam, Quil, Jace, Josh, Camille and his father, Mr. Everwood, for Thanksgiving and Christmas. They were all very nice to me. They gave me presents and welcomed me with open arms. They called themselves ‘the pack’ for some reasons--which I thought was kinda weird yet cool, I guess. Oh, and sometimes they called their wives Imprints, or mates. I don't know what it means, but every time one of the guys says it, I get chills. One time, I asked Kane what it was on our car ride home but he just ignored me.

Today is May 7th, and I'm getting ready for Kane's cousin, Sam, wife’s birthday party.  Her name is Emily, the owner from Emily’s diner.

I jump into the shower. Once the water hits my body, I feel weightless. The water is so welcoming. Oh, how I missed it. I used to love water as a child; I would stay in the shower tub for hours--never getting out. Water was my safe-keeping; I couldn't help myself. I made a water ball and splashed it. This dormant curse has done nothing but brought terrible things into my life.

I wash up and get out the shower. I put on a t-shirt, jeans, boots, and a light jacket. When I walk out the room I let Kane know I'm ready and we head out. On the car ride there, Kane decides to make conversation.

“So how was your day, Melody?” he asks. I was shocked; he was speaking to me, which he rarely does unless it’s to tell me what to do.

“Umm, it was okay,” I reply, and turn my attention back to the window.

“Look, so I know your birthday is coming up, so I was wondering what you would like to do?”

“Umm, I haven't really given it that much thought, so I don't know.” And I thought you wouldn't give a damn about it, I mentally say.

“I know you think I wouldn’t give a damn about you or your birthday, but I do care. It’s just I have a lot of...things going on and I'm trying to work through them. So be patient with me please.”

Be patient! Is he serious--I have been! But I don’t say that; I just look at him and say ‘ok’, which he then sighs and turns his eyes back on the road.

“Mel, I'm not that bad of a guy. I just need you to trust me and have patience,” he says.

“I promise one day things will be different.”

We arrive at Emily's house in the next 15 minutes. Once there, I jump out the car and run inside.  Everyone is there: Emily, Sam, and their daughter Camille; Josh, Kim, and their two month old son, Jace; Peter, Aurora and their twins, Penelope and Ryan; Skylar, Brandon, Chase, Ellis, Courtney, and Quil. We drink, be merry, and eat lots of food. The guys kid around and the girls cook and clean. They also include me into conversations. My favorite get-together with the pack is Karaoke night. I enjoy some of their singing and dancing; especially Quil. He is the dancing king, but I’ve seen better.

Around midnight, Kane tells me it’s time to go--but not before Kim reminds me about the wedding next week and that I need to remind Kane of his fitting tomorrow.

A week later

We arrive for the wedding around noon; the wedding starts at 3 pm. We arrived early because Kane is in the wedding as the best man for Jared. I go into the dressing room with all the girl, who are all excited.

“Oh Kim, I’m so happy for you and Josh--are you nervous?” asks Emily.

“Umm, a little, I guess, but mostly anxious because I’ve been waiting to marry Josh since I first saw him in middle school!” she cried, and everybody giggled. I just sat in the corner and yearned. Kane and our relationship is in progress kinda.

Last night he admitted that he wanted to try with ‘us’, but then he got a call from Quil and left. He didnt arrive home until the next morning with sweat pants on and a scar on his chest. I offered to help him with the scar, but he pushed me away and told me to leave him alone.

I’d cried while making our breakfast.

Suddenly, Kim’s wedding planner walked in and announced it was time to start.

Kim and Josh had a beautiful ceremony with little baby Jace as their ring bearer. Oh, and their vows made me cry; however, I noticed that Kane kept staring at me as well, but I was too into Kim and Josh’s vow to focus on him. The reception was even better because everybody danced and sang. It reminded me of Karaoke night, but with a lot more people. Then lastly, we sent the couple off to start their life as a newly-married couple on their honeymoon in Seattle.

Kane and I arrive home around midnight and I was ready to get out of this dress. All night Kane has been staring at me; it kind of made me nervous and excited all throughout the night.

I asked Kane to unzip me. He hesitates at first but slowly unzips me.

“Thanks,” I say when he’s done, walking away.

    “Hey Mel--”

“Yes?”

“Umm.. you looked gorgeous tonight; I just wanted to tell you that before you went to sleep.”

“Oh umm, thank you.” I blush and walk to our room

I decide to hop in the shower real quick. When I get out, I wrap a towel around myself, but as I begin to walk out the bathroom, I see Kane there in sweats that dip low on his hips, with no shirt on.

“Oh,” I say.

“Oh hey, sorry I just came to grab a shirt,” he says, and he turns to look at me. Suddenly, his eyes change from chocolate brown to black, filled with lust.

Don’t get me wrong; Kane is a fine-looking specimen, but he never really seemed to look at me sexually, so I just didn't look at him like that most of the times.

I grab hold of my towel tighter as my hair was dripping on me, making my neck wet.

Kane just stands there for a few seconds, then suddenly, and slowly, walks over to me. And I out of a sudden felt like his prey again. He stops in front of me, grabs me by the waist, and holds me... I don't know how to feel about this because it is the first time he has touched me like this. This was a new experience for me and him, but definitely for me.

His eyes then go to my neck then to my lips. Does he want to kiss me?

He answers my rhetorical question by kissing my neck--at where he bit me--where there was a mark left over. When the first kiss comes I push away, but when the second, third, fourth, and fifth come my brain starts to become fuzzy with lust and want. I lean into Kane. He then starts kissing me and I kiss him back; and this kiss being really heated. He suddenly picks me up, my towel falling off, and he lays me down on the bed.
