Let's Play a Game

One- Let’s Play a Game

It was a normal day for the class of 12D a Norton Baboon C.I. It was a sunny May afternoon and the students were excited since there was only one more month until they would graduate. This meant one more month of bullying the nerds for the cool kids and for the nerds. Only one more month of tolerance, and one more month until the nerds become the bosses of the so called cool kids.

In the corner of the classroom, a dark haired and eyed girl sat quietly reading her book, not noticing a brunette approaching her.

“Hey Yvette, want to have lunch with me?” the brunette asked the reading girl.

Said girl, Yvette, unwillingly looked up at girl talking to her before going back to her book, not saying a word.

The brunette frowned and tried again. “So what are you reading? The Era Series, that sounds interesting, what’s it about?”

“Rebekah just give up, she hates everyone,” said a new voice. “Come on newbie, let’s go eat.” The new voice then linked arms with Rebekah and dragged her away.

“But,” Rebekah said. She looked back at Yvette who closed her book and left the class.

“Rebekah hurry up, we saved you a seat,” someone else said.

“Aimee, I can walk on my own and thanks Kelly,” Rebekah then unlinked her arm from Aimee and headed over to her saved seat next to her friends, Mykala and Ana.

“Why do you even bother with the nerd, it’s been half a year and she still ignores you. You should give up with her,” Aimee said as she played with a strand of her blonde hair.

“But that’ll be mean, plus she’ll come around and why do you still call me newbie? It’s been a while since I transferred here.”

“Aw come on, it’s a fun nickname,” joked Aimee and the girls shared a laugh.

Outside of the classroom, Yvette heard what they said but she didn’t really mind. She got used to the blonde’s antics. The Queen Bee made it very clear that her way was the only way and if you disagreed she’d make your high school life miserable and Yvette knows from first-hand experience.

Back inside the classroom, on the opposite side of the Queen Bee Aimee’s territory, on the guy’s side the usual was happening. Some nerd, this time Jacky Wan, was being bullied by the jocks led by Noah Leak and Saif Agni.

“Come on Jacky Wan Ton, what’s wrong?” Noah asked.

“It’s Wan and the food is a won ton, not wan,” said Jacky. Although the boy was sounding confident, he was shaking on the inside.

“Aw, look at that he’s shaking, he’s so scared,” Saif said. Make that he was shaking on the outside along with the inside.

“Look, I got to go,” Jacky quickly packed his lunch and headed out the door, not before getting tripped by another jock.

Yvette sat outside of her classroom and continued to read her book before the bell signaling the end of lunch rang and she headed back inside.

Normally in a class, when the teacher arrived the antics: bullying, using the phone, talking, would stop but in 12D, that’s the opposite. Their teacher Mrs. Marquis would turn an eye if her favourite Julia Xec or Vicky Fawn were involved.

So the blacked haired girl headed to her seat in the back of the class by the right corner and observed the class. Aimee and her gang, were passing notes. The teacher’s pet Vicky was going her homework for another class, and the other teacher’s pet Julia’s group, which consisted of two other girls, Jasmine Thomas and Michelle Yagi were texting her friends in another class, not like Mrs. Marquis cared.

On the guys’ side, the jocks were on their phone, the class -possibly the school’s- flirt, was hitting on via text some girl, more likely girls. The nerds, reword the nerd, Jacky Wan, was once again getting picked on. All this was a regular thing, almost like breathing to the students and no one really did anything to change it. The black eyed girl gave up and started to pay attention to whatever was coming out of her teacher’s mouth.

Class ended rather well for Yvette, she only received 12 looks and snickers, 2 pieces of paper thrown at her and only overheard 5 people talking about her.

The classed followed yet another usual routine after school. The nerds, which consisted of two people, Yvette and Jacky headed home straight away. The Queen Bee’s group went out, the teacher’s pet started to suck up and the jocks being jocks played some sport.

Everything was the usual for class 12D, until 11:59pm, when everyone received a text from an unknown sender which said.
