Prologue

~Nature's A/N~

Me: Hi everyone! The idea for this story came from a dream I had, so I thought I should write it.

Water: I have dreams too! They're all about the delicious miracle we call cake.

Me: For the people that don't know, this is Water, aka cakelover2468. She's from Fanfiction though, so you won't find her anywhere around here.

Water: Yeah. Do you know how long it takes to get to Spark a Tale, from Fanfiction, through cyberspace!? I almost didn't get to have my 7 o'clock cake eating ritual!

Me: Hehe, sorry. Hopefully this new story will make up for it. So without further ado' here's the first chapter. Enjoy!

Everybody, wishes to be special. People who are special, seem to always be shining, with the most brilliant radiance, not a care in the world. But then, there are different kinds of "special". There's special like, amazing, worth twenty bags of gold! Then there's special like, freak, wierd. They said, we were special, we were all one of a kind. I'm not sure, whether they meant, the special "amazing", or the special "freak". But I know one thing.... it's because we're so "special", that we're their prey.

"Sector A clear! How about you?"

"Same for Sector B and C as well, sir."

"Dammit! We have to find the speciments, or the boss won't very be pleased," he almost found where we were hiding, but then we quickly darted behind the corner of the corridor," Move out and inspect sector D."

"Yes sir!" the two gaurds saluted. They ran off in the opposite direction unaware of our presence. My friends and I then dashed to exit, of this gigantic laboratory. Evalyn, after years of being prisoners in this horrifying place, memorized the entire layout of the facility. She would have memorized it sooner, if it wasn't for the daily experiments and tests, not to mention being locked up in our prisons most of the time.

My friends and I became close, since we were all kept as speciments here in this laboratory. We were the closest thing we had to actual humane human contact. From surviving here together in this hell hole, we've become great friends. When we saw an opening for us to escape, we didn't hesitate to take this opportunity and decided we would escape and live our lives together.

The alarm echoed throught the empty corridors as we ran for our lives, for our freedom. After constantly hiding from gaurds, and running through hallways, we could finally see the exit.

"There it is!"

"Yes we made it!"

"Just as I predicted."

"Ah yea! Freedom at last!"

"We can finally live normal lives, and follow our dreams. Oh, I can't wait!" my best friend exclaimed.

"Me too!" I replied excitedly. There it was. The door to our escape, our freedom. I couldn't wait to actually see the sky again. It's been so long. I clenched my mother's heart shaped locket in my hand. Look Mom, we're gonna' make it! We can finally be free, and live our lives.

"Uh oh. Judging from the time we went missing, the speed and IQ of an average gaurd, and the total of square feet of this facility, it won't take long until-" she was interrupted by the commands of a gaurd.

"There they are! I repeat! The targets are in sight! Requesting back up immediatly!" shouted the gaurd, talking into his walkie-talkie. Seconds after his request, hundreds of gaurds joined his side, chasing us down the corridor, along with the head scientist of the project.

"Close the door! Block any chance of escape!" shouted the scientist, Dr. Burg.

Suddenly, the giant circular door started to close. No! Not now! We're so close!

"C'mon, we have get through before the door closes!" Using all of our strength, we sprinted towards the slowly closing door. I was the last one through, jumping through the small opening. Even when I could feel the sun on my face, even when I could smell the city of Lanxton, even when I could see the skyscrapers along the desert horizon, I kept on running. Along with my friends, we never stopped. Partly, from the fear of being caught, and partly from the rush of excitement of our newly gained freedom. I was so happy, I felt like I was going to jump up from the desert sand, and fly all the way to the city.

With a loud shout we declared together,"FREEDOM!"
