Chapter 1 – Lucifer’s Nightmare

(This is the Sequel to my other story named “S.I.N.s.”. I suggest you read it first, since it is somewhat of an introduction.)

(A/N: Unlike the Prequel to this story, this story and the following ones won’t be written in the first person, but rather in the third person. In other words, Sakuma won’t be the narrator.)

It hasn’t been long since Sakuma’s birthday, maybe a couple of days. Everybody slept peacefully one night. Well… Except for one person.

Despite everyone sleeping peacefully, Lucifer struggled.

Inside her pure white room, the only color difference being the beige music box Sakuma had given her, Lucifer rolled around wildly on her bed. Lucifer breathed heavily during her sleep. She kept rolling, grasping the covers as tightly as possible. Her body’s heat was unbearable, even for the fallen angel. Her head was filled with nothing other than a terrible nightmare.

But it was only terrible because it was a memory.

A thunder struck and Lucifer’s body suffered a strong spasm, obligating her to wake and sit up in less than a second

“AHHHHHHHHHH!!!” Lucifer yelled with a pitch strong enough to echo through the houseand wake everybody up. Mainly Sakuma. Lucifer’s sweat covered her face and her breathing was heavy and visible.

“Damn it… Not again…”

“Lucifer?”

Lucifer pulled the covers up to her chest and turned, astonished, finding Sakuma by her door. He was wearing a rather new outfit: a dark t-shirt and a pair of jean shorts. He was barefoot, since he never really slept with sneakers, but he was indeed wearing socks.

“S-Sakuma? What are you doing here?!”

“You yelled and it made me worried.” He answered. “Not to mention that you’re crying.”

“Eh?” she touched the area beneath her eyes, feeling the drops of water on her fingers. “It’s just sweat!” she answered, cleaning it with the bed sheets. “I don’t cry! Go away!”

Sakuma didn’t obey.  Knowing Lucifer, it was something bad. Lucifer was burying her face into her pillow. Sakuma closed the door behind him and walked towards her.

“I told you to go away, idiot!” she yelled, sitting up again. But her anger was replaced by surprise when he sat on the edge of her bed, his back turned to her.

“Lucifer, what’s the matter?”

“It’s none of your busi-”

“Yes, it is!” Sakuma’s interruption amazed Lucifer. “You’re suffering. Now, what could be making Lucifer, the Devil herself, cry? A nightmare?”

Lucifer never trusted anyone when it came to this matter. But, for once, decided to take a chance. She wasn’t really sure why that was, either.

“My sin…”

“Your sin?”

“Pride. It was… my Pride.”

“What do you mean, exactly?”

Lucifer closed her eyes. “It all started when mankind started evolving.”

Sakuma started imagining images to accompany Lucifer’s explanation.

“Those monkeys started to take out shape. Of course, without wings. I… didn’t like them. I never liked them in the very beginning. They weren’t like angels, who were far superior and similar to God than any human.” She opened her eyes and looked at him, without his notice. She thought, “Except you” and proceeded in her explanation. “One day, I couldn’t take it anymore. I said to God that humans were a waste of matter, and that they were useless. My Pride got me punished. I defied God, after all…”

“How is an angel puni-” Sakuma turned and his eyes widened at the sight of Lucifer. She looked exactly the same, with her smile of pride spread across her face, but somewhat gentler, but her back had two short but wide protrusions coming out of her back. They had a rather dim glow, but it wasn’t any stronger than a weak flashlight. They looked like… broken wings.

“I’m a fallen angel. They took my wings.” Lucifer’s smirk was clearly forced upon herself, and Sakuma could see that.

“Lucifer…”

“It’s the worst punishment and pain an angel can feel.” Lucifer looked away, trying to hide her true emotions. It was obvious to Sakuma, though. “I keep having the memory replay in my head every night. My back keeps aching. But I have no wright to complain. After all, I’m just the Devil. I shouldn’t be complai-?!” Lucifer was suddenly embraced by Sakuma. She was wide eyed by the event.

And so were the others! Apparently, the 6 other demons of the house were peeping through the slight gap between the door and the wall.

“I’m so jealous of Lucifer! She’s being hugged by Sakuma-kun…” said Leviathan, biting on her handkerchief.

“I don’t know why, but I felt annoyed by them when they hugged.” Admitted Satan, grinding her teeth.

“My, my! This is an amazing piece of information.” Mammon smirked, recording everything with her camera. Beelzebub bit down on a burger and Belphegor tried to stay awake, despite the urge to fall asleep.

Asmodeus put her hands on her cheeks. “They make such a cute couple!”

“OI!” The five of them spoke, all turning to the cheerful Asmodeus.

“Sakuma… What are you…?”

“I don’t really like humans either.”

His confession made her eyes widened, and they became wet.

*sniffle, sniffle*

“I thought you didn’t cry.” Sakuma snickered, holding her closer.

“Shut up…” Lucifer hugged and pulled him in, making them both fall on her bed.

“L-Lucifer, what are you-?”

“You’re mine, for this night.” Sakuma blushed, and despite having her eyes closed, she noticed. “Don’t get any ideas. I need a pillow for tonight. So, stay still!”

He chuckled. “Alright, alright…”

“Sakuma?”

“Hm?”

“How did you come up with your name?”

“Eh?”

“Sakuma. How did you come up with it so fast?”

“Oh… You’re going to laugh if I told you.”

“Try me.”

“Well… You see, since you 7 were the Seven Deadly Sins, I was thinking about the word “Akuma” (Higher Demon). And since you were asking me to make a deal with you, I thought that, in a way, I was becoming one. But calling someone “Akuma” is rather weird, so I added an ‘S’ at the beginning from the word Sins.”

Lucifer laughed lightly. It was a way Sakuma hadn’t heard her laugh before, and he thought it was… cute.

“You were right.” Lucifer spoke, snuggling on to him. Sakuma felt somewhat embarrassed but decided to ignore the feeling and just snuggle with her as well.

That night was the first night Lucifer didn’t have her nightmare.

2: Chapter 2 – Defender of Evil
Chapter 2 – Defender of Evil

Six pairs of eyes were staring at the sleeping couple. Both Sakuma and Lucifer had smiles across their sleeping faces, which picked the curiosity of them all.

“Do you think Lucifer is in love with him?” Satan asked.

“I just know I’m really, really jealous!” Leviathan bit down her handkerchief. She then pulled out the mirror that she kept in her pocket and looked at it. “I’m beautiful, I’m beautiful…”

“Maybe we should leave.” Beelzebub proposed. “They can wake up at any moment.”

“You’re right.” Belphegor agreed. “Baaa~~~~”

The demons left the room, but Mammon, who stayed last, looked over at Lucifer and Sakuma.

“Hmm…”

-_-_-_-_-_-_-

“Eh? You want me to go on a date with Lucifer?”

“Hai, hai.” Mammon confirmed. “I feel like it would make her feel better. Lately, she has been looking rather… uncomfortable. I guess that’s the best word to describe.”

Sakuma was somewhat reluctant at the idea. “I’m not sure… I mean… It’s Lucifer. I doubt she’ll accept it.”

“Yet, she used you like a pillow this night.”

“H-HOW DO YOU-!?”

“I’m sneaky, that’s all.” Mammon smirked, showing the camera in her hands to Sakuma.

Sakuma sweatdropped. “I’m starting to feel that I made a very big mistake when I offered you that.”

Mammon’s reply was a giggle followed by a statement. “Go on. Go ask Lucifer out.”

“Alright… But if I end up cut in half, it’s your fault.”

“I’ll take responsibility.” Mammon replied. Sakuma turned with a smirk and walked towards Lucifer’s Room. Suddenly, Mammon felt a sharp pain on the left side of her chest. “That’s funny… why does it hurt?”

Sakuma knocked at the door. “Lucifer? May I come in?”

“Sure.” Sakuma entered the bedroom, finding the Fallen Angel laying on her bed, back faced to the ceiling, messing around with the phone he had offered her some months ago. “What do you want?”

“I wanted to ask you out on a date.”

Lucifer was caught by surprise. “A date?”

“Yeah. A little stroll around the Human World. We don’t really have a lot to do around here, and I thought maybe…”

“Sure.”

“Eh?” Sakuma turned to Lucifer, surprised. “Really?”

“I can’t see why not.” Lucifer replied, getting out of her bed. “Shall we?”

“S-Sure.” Sakuma was still somewhat stunned, but didn’t back off. He took her hand and teleported to the human world.

Sakuma went to his money hideout and took enough for the day. The first stop was a clothing shop, in order for Lucifer to get normal and fitting clothes to the environment.

Sakuma waited outside the changing room, waiting for Lucifer to come out.

"Why is she taking so long? I mean, I know she took a lot of clothes, but still..."

He got his answer as soon as Lucifer came out of the dressing room. Sakuma couldn't look away from her, blushing intensely.

"How do I look? I don't really need an answer, but it's always nice to hear the obvious." She was wearing dark blue tight jeans, a dark belt around her waist, high heels, and a white shirt that was tied around at the edge, showing part of her abdomen. The shirt also possessed a red crucifix at the shoulder. Sakuma was speechless. "Fufufu. Silence is the best compliment when it comes to appearances." Lucifer spoke. Sakuma peeked inside the room and sweat dropped.

"Oi, Oi, you can't leave all these clothes here. You have to put them back where they were."

"Why? Aren't the employees paid to tidy up the place?"

"T-true... But we need to be polite. I mean, one thing is their work, another one is diligence to it."

Lucifer looked indifferent.

Sakuma sighed, but then an idea popped up in his head. "Alright then. I guess if it's too much for you..."

"What do you mean by that?" Lucifer frowned.

"Well, if you can't do it, there's nothing we can do about it, right?"

"I CAN DO ANYTHING! JUST WATCH!"

-_-_-_-_-_-_-

"You really did a great job cleaning everything."

"Of course!" Lucifer took a sip from her strawberry milkshake. "After all, I'm the best at everything!"

Right now, they were eating a little snack in a nearby café. Lucifer had ordered a strawberry milkshake, while Sakuma decided to drink a soda. It was a sunny day, so Demons wouldn't really be a problem.

Sakuma leaned back, taking a large sip of his drink, until...

"Oi, Sakuma. Can I ask you a couple of questions?"

Sakuma suddenly stopped and looked at her, noticing the look on her face. It seemed something similar to sorrow, but he couldn't really identify it.

"Of course. What is it?"

"What do people in the human world think of me?"

Sakuma flinched. He knew that she knew about her bad reputation. But, nonetheless, he cleared his throat and decided to answer.

"Well... There are people who use you as an insult. There are people who try to scare others by making stories about how they met the Devil and made a deal which backfired. Some worship you, but I think they're not doing the right way. And then there are those who throw Holy Water at people they think are possessed by you or your followers." The last one was finished with chuckle. It was an attempt to make a joke, but after a second, he decided to shut up and stay silent.

"And what do you think if me?"

Sakuma was somewhat stunned at the question.

"I think that... Compared to the initial image I had of you, you're very nice and cute."

"Eh?"

"I mean, before, when I thought of the Devil, I would always picture giant demonic creators, or maybe an angel with dark wings and with hunger for destruction of chaos. Pretty much like every other person. After all, it's only human to fear what we can't observe or study. But after seeing you for the first time... I felt like I had nothing to fear besides your title. Maybe your power as well, but I knew you wouldn't use it against me."

Lucifer had no words to answer that speech. Well, of course, with the exception of a pair of words.

"Thank you."

"Hm?"

"To be honest, Sakuma, I don't like that image people have of me. I don't like being used as an insult either. It really feels like a needle piercing my heart." She confessed, laying a hand over her chest. "Sometimes... It really hurts."

Sakuma was very surprised to see Lucifer open up to him in such way. "Luci-"

"Well, enough cheesy talking." She stood up, taking a final sip of her drink. "Come on, let's go. We're on a date, aren't we?"

"S-Sure..." Sakuma began to think. "Lucifer... Sounded like an entirely different person. Is she THAT strong?"

"So, where are we going, Deadman?"

"I was thinking maybe to a movie."

"A movie?" Lucifer was confused. After all, she didn't have a strong grasp on the current theme of conversation.

-_-_-_-_-_-_-

“Why did you suggest that?!” Leviathan yelled at Mammon, feeling jealousy rising up her veins.

“You saw how Lucifer was last night. I thought maybe they should…” Mammon suddenly held her chest, looking down. Belphegor noticed this somehow and asked.

“What’s the matter?”

“Uh? Oh, nothing… I just have this weird feeling in my heart when I think of Sakuma and Lucifer together. I’m not really sure why though…”

“That’s because you’re in love with Sakuma.” Beelzebub answered bluntly, as she waited for her turkey leg to heat up in her microwave.

“Wait, what?!” Mammon asked, backing off, blushing slightly.

Everybody turned to Beelzebub. “It’s obvious. We’re all in love with him, one way or another.”

“I’M NOT IN LOVE WITH THAT BASTARD!” Satan only overheard the conversation, she was in her room, punching the punching bag she got not so long ago.

“I’m in love… with Sakuma?” Mammon wondered to herself. Belphegor was actually in a similar situation, and they both looked away, blushing.

-_-_-_-_-_-_-

“What’s the name of this “movie” again?”

“It’s-”

“You can really summon the devil?”

Sakuma was interrupted by the sound of a teenage gangster talking to his two underlings. Sakuma and Lucifer turned, the topic of conversation being something they were rather familiar with.

“Really, dude?”

“Yeah! I slit a black cat’s throat and after drawing a bunch of satanic stuff, it appeared!”

“Liar.” Lucifer muttered, but not hearable by the gangsters.

“How did it look?”

“You should have seen him man! He looked like a hideous monster! The eyes were empty and yellow. The skin was red like blood, the monster-like body, sulfur-scented breath, a true monster.”

“You must be kidding me-?!” Sakuma glanced at Lucifer and the image stunned him: Lucifer was crying. Her hands were clenched into fists, and her hair covered the image of her eyes, but tears could be seen dripping down her face. Sakuma studied her for one second and his teeth clenched.

“And it had like, six arms and bat win-”

“SHUT THE HELL UP!!!” Sakuma punched the gangster with enough strength to push him against the wall.

The entire crowd stared at him, and Lucifer was completely amazed and astonished.

“Sakuma…”

His face showed to be deeply serious and angry, a rather rare sight for anyone who knows him. “Don’t speak about who you don’t know…” he whispered. Sakuma turned to Lucifer and grasped her hand. He walked away, dragging her along. She was still trying to process everything that happened with him.

After some walking and leaving the theater, they were alone, and Lucifer had various questions in her mind.

“Sakuma, what was that all about? Why did you punch that guy?”

Sakuma stopped walking, but didn’t let go of her hand. “Because he hurt you.” Lucifer was confused about how he knew about it, but she then finally felt the wet trails on her cheeks. “And no matter what, I won’t let people talk down to you, nor the others. Ever.”

Lucifer smiled and composed herself properly. “You know what an epithet is?”

“Umm… yes. It’s a glorified nickname of sorts, right?”

“You, up until now have had quite a number of epithets: the Dog of Sins, their Partner, the Deadman… But I thought of the second most perfect one for you.”

Sakuma was somewhat astonished. “What is it?”

“Sakuma: the Defender of Evil.”

“I… I actually like that name.” Sakuma confessed, smiling at Lucifer.

“So? Aren’t we on a date? Let’s go.”

-_-_-_-_-_-_-

“Congratulations. You’ve earned your right to become an angel. Finally, for over 4000 years will this spot be filled. Take these wings.”

“Why thank you, Michael. I intend to put these in good use.”

“But watch out, Mendacium. You are perfectly aware of whose those once belonged to.”

3: Chapter 3 – Confession to Sins
Chapter 3 – Confession to Sins

The date was over. Lucifer opened the door to her bedroom and closed it behind her. She moved on to her bed and lay down, staring at the ceiling.

“It was… a fine date.” She spoke to herself, grabbing a nearby pillow and burying it into her face. “…A nice date.”

“How was your date?”

“AHHH!”” Lucifer jumped out of the bed when Asmodeus popped out from under the bed. “ASMODEUS? WHAT THE HOME?!”

“Did I scare you?”

“N-No…” Lucifer looked away, blushing, not wanting to admit the fact that she actually got startled. “What are you doing here anyway?”

“I was waiting for you!” Asmodeus spoke cheerfully, floating up with a smile of excitement. “How was your date with Sakuma-kun!?”

“Why should I tell you?”

“If you don’t, I tell you everybody about your weak point that I found out during our little competition.”

“…You have quite an evil side, don’t you?” Lucifer asked with narrowed eyes.

“No. I’m just curious.” She winked, showing her bright smile afterwards. Lucifer blushed, trying not to think about Asmodeus’s remark about her weak point. “I have to tell Sakuma about it if you two ever get serious.”

“NO!” she yelled, blushing.

“Soooo…?”

“…Get the girls and ask Beelzebub for some pizza.”

“Eh?”

“We’re having a sleepover tonight!”

Asmodeus was pretty surprised, seeing Lucifer make such a request. After all, it was rather rare something of the sort happening at all. “Really?”

“Really.” Lucifer answered with a smirk.

“Yay! I’m gathering everyone.”

“But no Sakuma!”

“Awww…”

-_-_-_-_-_-_-

“6 Boxes of Italian Pizza for you.” Beelzebub carried six boxes into the room. The 6 remaining girls were all lying down on the floor in a circular fashion, all wearing some sort of pajamas: Lucifer wore white silk clothing, Satan wore a red track suit for some reason, Belphegor had her usual clothing, Leviathan wore a green button shirt and very short dark shorts, Asmodeus wore only a night gown, and Mammon wore a sweater and sweat pants. Beelzebub put down the pizza boxes on the center of the circular pattern. She wore a dark set of pajamas. She suddenly ran back outside and carried a very tall pile of boxes, amazing everyone. “And these are for me.”

“Why are we doing this again?” Satan asked, rather annoyed, as usual.

“I needed to talk to all of you, and I thought this would be a good environment to do it.” Lucifer explained, as she opened one of the boxes and took out a slice. “Beelzebub, you’re the food expert, are these any good?”

“They’re the finest Italian food, according to Sakuma. He took me to an Italian Restaurant once, and it was very, very good.”

“That’s enough for me.” Leviathan snatched a slice and bit down. A slight blush appeared across her face. “Delicious…”

“Eto…” Mammon looked at Leviathan, leaving her nervous.

“Hm? What’s the matter?”

“I shouldn’t be telling you this, but… Pizza contains a lot of calories.”

“WHAT?!” Leviathan asked, astonished by the information.

“Calm down, you’re a demon. You won’t get fat or anything.”

“That’s easy for you to say, Beelzebub!” Leviathan squeaked, somewhat angry. “Unlike the rest of us, you don’t need to look after your figure! You’re eternally thin!”

“Calm down… Leviathan-san…” Belphegor warned, making Leviathan silent. “One day eating… won’t ruin… your body…”

Leviathan narrowed her eyes. “Wait a minute… What about you? You drink milk all the time and you still have a great figure as well!”

“We are… Demons… We don’t… Need… food… Ba~~” She fell asleep on the last word, making everyone else sweatdrop.

“I believe you want to talk about something, Lucifer?” Beelzebub spoke, biting down on an entire pizza. She didn’t bother to cut it in slices.

“Oh. As you might know, me and Sakuma-”

“Slept side by side, yes…” Satan spoke, astonishing Lucifer greatly.

“Wait, how did you- Which one of you saw what happened yesterday?!” All the girls raised their hands, making Lucifer blush in embarrassment. “I was going to say that I went on a date with him. But, either way, I need to be honest with all of you.”

“Hm?” Mammon was rather curious and eager to hear the information. Lucifer took a very deep breath and her blush decreased in intensity.

“I… I think that… I’m in love with Sakuma.” The six demons felt a sudden sharp shock on the inside of their chests when Lucifer spoke. “And I know that you all are as well.”

“I’M NOT IN LOVE WITH THAT BASTARD!!”

“Alright, alright, calm down Satan.” Lucifer rolled her eyes. “The point of all this is, I want to know something from all of you.”

“And that would be?” Belphegor asked, wide awake.

“If I ever began dating Sakuma, would you all be angry at me and stop being my friends?” Lucifer’s question was somewhat surprising. “So?”

“Lucifer.” They all turned to Satan and were taken aback by her smile. “We’re the Seven Sins. Nothing can separate us. Pride creates Wrath, Wrath turns into Sloth, Sloth becomes Envy, Envy turns to Lust, Lust becomes Gluttony, Gluttony induces Greed, and Greed creates Pride. It’s a vicious circle. Nothing can break it.”

“I might be in love with Sakuma…” Leviathan spoke. “But if you two start dating, I wouldn’t stop being your friend.”

“I think I speak in name of all the rest when I say I agree with Leviathan.” Mammon spoke, everyone nodding at Lucifer, leaving her speechless.

“You girls…” she moved in and hugged the six of them (somehow). “Well, this is a sleepover party, right? Let’s act like girls for once and have some fun.”

“Hai!” Asmodeus agreed, throwing herself at Beelzebub, making everyone sweat bullets. “Mhhhhmmmm mhm mhmhn! (I love Pizza with Beelzebub’s saliva’s taste!)

“Asmodeus, get off me!”

The remaining 5 girls giggled, watching the crazy one of the group getting… crazy.

“I’m pretty sure that that usually doesn’t happen in sleepovers outside of guys’ heads, Asmodeus.” Mammon informed, trying to contain her laughter.

“Now that I think of… Asmodeus has kissed all of us, hasn’t she?” Leviathan asked, making everyone freeze, except for Asmodeus, of course, who was slurping on a little trail of cheese, and flying up around the group.

“Teehee! I love everyone’s kisses!”

And the rest of the night, was Asmodeus’s little game board.

But Lucifer didn’t care a lot: she was with her friends, and she knew they wouldn’t get mad at her if she ever started dating the boy she loved.

But little did she know… That something very familiar to her would appear right before her eyes.

4: Chapter 4 – Beings from Above
Chapter 4 – Beings from Above

Sakuma woke up very early on the next day. He sat up, stretched his arms and yawned, waking up. He stepped out of the couch and walked out of the room, entering the hallway that connected to all other rooms. He thought that it was rather weird the fact that all the doors with the exception of one. He peeked inside the rooms and found them empty. He opened the final door, which was Lucifer’s room, and peeked inside without making a noise. He was rather amazed by the sight: Lucifer’s room was filled with pizza boxes, Beelzebub sleeping soundly on them, using a blanket made out of cardboard; Satan and Lucifer slept side by side on her bed, though Satan had some weird permanent marker drawings on her face that resembled cat whiskers and some other doodles; Mammon was being used as Belphegor’s people, almost resembling the image of a daughter and her mother; finally, Asmodeus and Leviathan were sleeping hugged to each other, for some weird reason.

Sakuma sighed. “What happened last night? I could have spied on them, but no, I had to watch the soap opera.” He spoke to himself, in a low tone of voice, so he wouldn’t wake up the demons. But he couldn’t leave them in that state. He quickly fetched some blankets and similar pieces of cloth and covered the Sins with them. “Well, I think I leave them be. A break once in a while is nice.” He spoke to himself, as he wrote down a little note and glued it to the fridge with a magnet, so the Sins would know he had gone to the human world.

-_-_-_-_-_-_-

Lucifer’s eyes opened slowly, and light entered into them. She sat up and analyzed the room, finding the sins in the strange situations, with the exception of Satan and herself.

“It almost looks like a hurricane was in here…” said Lucifer, observing the large quantity of pizza boxes, in her room.

“Sis…?” Satan woke not long after. She sat up, yawned while stretching, and scratched the back of her head. Lucifer looked at her face and giggled.

“Hahaha.”

“Hm?” Satan was confused by her familiar’s laugh. Lucifer leaned out of bed and took out Leviathan’s pocket mirror. She gave it to Satan and waited for the bomb to explode.

“What the… who drew this?” she asked with a serious, angry face. Satan simply shrugged: she actually had no idea who had done it.

“It was me.” The Sins of Pride and Wrath turned to Lust, Asmodeus, who had just woken up.

“Why?” Satan asked, her eyes replaced by little flares.

“Because angry Satan is so kawaii!” Asmodeus put her hands on her cheeks. “Satan gets all red and her teeth clench, and the sight of it makes my heart skip a beat!”

“Why you…” Satan took a deep breath. After all, she knew it wasn’t with bad intentions.

“Plus, you look cute as a cat.”

“I prefer Bears, thank you very much.”

“Wait, you like something?” Lucifer joked, laughing.

“Oi, oi…”

“I can take care of that!” Asmodeus grabbed Satan, making a hold by placing her arms underneath Satan’s.

“What the-?!” Satan’s yell was powerful enough to wake up the other three demons (Belphegor continued her very long nap).

“To my room!”

“Why?!”

“Make over time!”

“Asmodeus, let me go!”

Lucifer and the others laughed as Asmodeus carried her figurative sister to her room. Lucifer stood up and left the room as the remaining ones took care of the pizza boxes.

Lucifer had a certain appointment to take care of.

She changed to her regular clothes and snapped her fingers, opening some sort of portal, which she stepped in. She entered a different world. It was filled with a thin fog, and was greyish in background. It was completely empty with the exception of her. This was a place- a dimension she called “Purgatory”.

“It appears that you’re early as usual, my brother.” Lucifer spoke to what appeared to be nothing, but a figure appeared. A male figure. He had blonde-golden wavy hair, deep yellow sharp eyes, and wore an armor that resembled a gladiator of Ancient Rome. Also, he possessed a pair of beautiful feathery wings.

“Hello, Lucifer.”

“Enough chit-chat, let’s just do the drill.”

“Hmph. It appears all these years in Hell only made you ruder and much more impatient. If you are in such a hurry, everything is in order in Heaven. Actually, we managed to complete some unfinished business.”

“Unfinished business?”

“Never mind that. You’ll end up seeing it one way or another.” This picked Lucifer’s curiosity, but she decided to ignore it, thinking Michael just wanted to make the conversation different. Lucifer and Michael, supervisors of Hell and Heaven respectively, twice a year had to discuss the current situation of the three worlds in the fourth: Heaven, Earth and Hell, in Purgatory.

“Alright then. As of Hell, I’m taking care of the little problem already.”

“How many demons have returned back to Hell.”

“Around Twenty Two Hundred Demons in 4 months.”

“That’s quite a lot of Demons. Though, that doesn’t even come close to the actual number of Demons that have escaped.” Michael spoke. “That’s all for today, right?”

“Right?” Lucifer turned back and snapped her fingers, opening the portal back to her home.

“Oh, and, Sister.” She turned to him. “Try not to over react.”

“Uh? What are you trying to say?”

“Exactly what I did.” He spoke, turning and walking away, leaving Lucifer confused. She decided to shake it off and ignore her brother, as she always did. She returned to her home. Just to be greeted with a surprise.

“Ta-dah!” Asmodeus spoke.

“Oh… my… Me…” Lucifer spoke, trying to contain her laughter: Satan had a bear-eared hair band, puffy bear paw gloves, and very short overalls with very loose straps. The overalls had a pink heart on the center of it, and Satan blushed in both fury and embarrassment. “Satan, you actually look cute!”

“Shut up, I’m not afraid to punch you…”

“But you are!” Lucifer fell to the floor, laughing. “Asmodeus, you need to make more of these makeovers!”

“Hai, hai!”

“NEVER AGAIN!” Satan yelled in disagreement.

Suddenly, Mammon entered the living room, holding her cellphone. “Girls, I just got this text from Sakuma!”

“Hm?”

‘Help!’

Lucifer was suddenly summoned into Sakuma’s hands in the Luce Yari form.

“Sakuma, what’s going on?!”

“What are those things?!” Sakuma appeared to be running away from something. Lucifer looked, surprised to see a rather familiar set of beings.

“Those are…” They were round shining orbs, each emanating one of a different color. They were shooting multiple light beams at Sakuma, who, up until now, was only hit by two of them right at the beginning when he was distracted. “Declarers!”

“Declarers?! What are those?!”

“They’re beings created from light by angels!” she explained, rather worried. “They only attack under the orders of an angel or archangel, the one who’s created them. Why are they here?!”

“It doesn’t matter why, but if they are attacking me, they are my enemies, right?”

“You’re going to attack them?”

“It’s either them or us!” Sakuma jumped forward, gaining a few extra meters on the front and quickly turned, positioning his weapon for an attack. "Kuresento Hikari! (Crescent Light)" Sakuma swung the spear from one side to another, making Luce Yari release a semi-circular energy wave made out of light from the blade, which hit the fleet of Declarers, which were destroyed. They were about 20, but after being all destroyed, 30 appeared out of shattered pieces of the original ones. “They multiply?!”

“Only if the angel is nearby…”

“Oh, I am.” Sakuma looked up and saw a figure descend. It was a man, with the appearance of a young adult, with dark spiky hair, light blue eyes, cocky smirk, and was wearing white clothes, with a gladiator-armor over them, with two feathery very beautiful wings on his back.

“Lucifer, who is he?” There was no response. Lucifer’s eyes in her subconscious widened and her irises and pupils shrunk, her mouth slightly opened. She looked almost psychotic.

“She doesn’t know me.” He answered, making Sakuma look at his face. “That’s what makes her scared. The fact that she doesn’t know one of the many angels from the Heavens.”

“And? What’s so surprising about that?”

“There’s only a certain number of angels, moron.” He answered, making Sakuma confused. “My name is Mendacium, the most recent angel in Heaven. I wanted to see the little toy of Lucifer’s, also known as, you.”

“I’m not her toy! I’m her Deadman!” Sakuma looked down into his hands, which were holding Luce Yari. “What did you mean when you said there are only a certain number of angels?”

“Exactly that.” He answered. “God created an army of winged beings as his warriors. But since Angels are so powerful, he limited the number. Lucifer there was actually one of the very first batches. It is only natural that she knows all the angels upstairs. But she doesn’t know me. What do you think that means, clever boy?”

“That you’re new? What exactly is special about that?”

“You’re still not getting the point. God only created a certain number of angels because he only created a certain number of “wings”. The one thing that defines an angel. And God hasn’t created any of those since Millions and millions of years ago.”

“Wait… That means…” Sakuma finally understood what Mendacium was saying. He felt a strong shock through his body and Luce Yari was thrown out of his hands. The blade got stuck on the ground, but the weapon turned into Lucifer. She seemed furious, psychotic, her eyes reflecting hatred to no end. Sakuma, for the very first time, was afraid of her.

“YOU DAMN FAKE! GIVE THEM BACK!” Lucifer tried to run up to him, but Sakuma got a hold of her.

“Lucifer, calm down! You don’t have powers while in here!”

“SAKUMA, LET ME GO!” she yelled furiously, struggling to escape his grip, but he made sure she wouldn’t get away. “I’M GOING TO KILL YOU, YOU BASTARD! GIVE THEM BACK! GIVE BACK MY WINGS!”

“And waste such a wonderful pair? Do you think I’m an idiot or what? I just came to show them off and test them against your little toy.”

“GIVE THEM BACK! GIVE THEM BAAAACK! THOSE ARE MY WINGS!”

Lucifer’s clenched teeth were enough to show that her anger had no limits. Sakuma made his best to hold her back with a single arm, while the other dialed a phone number on his phone.

“Satan, I’m going to need you help! Lucifer is out of control, on a rampage! I need your help to hold her down, I’m coming there.”

“DON’T YOU DARE, SAKUMA! DON’T YOU DARE TRANSPORT US TO HELL! I’VE WANTED TO GET BACK THOSE WINGS FOR OVER 5 THOUSAND YEARS, AND I’M NOT GOING TO LET THEM ESCAPE FROM ME AGAIN!”

“Sorry…” Sakuma activated the portal, and before she knew it, Lucifer was back in Hell. Sakuma and Satan tried to hold her down, while the remaining demons watched this rather strange side of their friend.

“LET ME GO! LET ME GO! SAKUMA, GET US BACK TO EARTH, NOW!!!” she struggled madly, trying to get off the grip of both Sakuma and Satan. Suddenly, she managed to get free and she threw herself at Sakuma, knocking him down. She sat on his lap and began to continuously punch him with her psychotic eyes staring down at him, one arm at a time. “WHY DID YOU TAKE ME AWAY?! WHY DIDN’T YOU LET ME STAY THERE?! WHY?! I’VE WANTED THOSE WINGS BACK FOR OVER 5000 YEARS! AND NOW THAT THEY’VE COME BACK, YOU PULL ME DOWN HERE?!”

The Six demons were far too surprised and scared to even move while they witnessed Lucifer beating up Sakuma, who kept silent during Lucifer’s entire speech. Lucifer stopped punching and began to breathe heavily.

“Why…” Lucifer muttered, lowly. “Why? They are… my wings…” Lucifer tilted her head back, making her eyes face the ceiling. She had them shut and she brought her hands up to them, as a stream of tears flooded down her eyes. “WHY CAN’T I HAVE MY WINGS BACK?! AHHHHHH!” Lucifer released a cry of extreme sadness and sorrow, which echoed throughout the entire Hell.

5: Chapter 5 – Shining Beings
Chapter 5 – Shining Beings

Sakuma peeped into Lucifer’s room. She had been laying on her bed for three straight days now, her eyes empty of emotion. Sakuma sighed, feeling somewhat useless.

He closed the door. He returned to the living room, where the 6 remaining demons were. They were all somewhat sad, even Asmodeus. Belphegor couldn’t even fall asleep properly.

“I guess I shouldn’t have transported back here.”

“And do what?” Satan asked with a low harsh tone. “She doesn’t have powers on her own in Earth besides turning into a spear and give you some power.”

“That is the reason I brought her to begin with.” Sakuma responded. “But she was so… furious. She really was going to kill that guy Mendacium.”

“He had her wings, after all.” Belphegor pointed out.

“I don’t want to be mean or anything of the sorts, but how important is a pair of wings for an angel?”

“Very.” Everybody turned to the door, where Lucifer stood by, weakly, without emotions. “How would you react if you lost one of your arms? If they got chopped off, for instance?”

“I guess I would panic… then maybe get angry and then sad.” Sakuma answered honestly.

“Getting wings ripped off is like someone cutting off your arms and legs, but twenty times worse.” Lucifer explained, as what remained of her wings appeared. “And unlike a chopped off arm or leg, wings don’t die. And they gave my wings to that damn fake angel.” Lucifer spoke, as she sat down on the couch.

“Can souls in Heaven become Angels, just like Souls in Hell become Demons?”

“No. Things up there work very differently.” Lucifer looked up towards the ceiling. “Souls that go to Heaven start experiencing the best and happiest moments they’ve had in their lives, followed by becoming their true selves. They can then start living as a community, or offer their souls to God. Souls are power, in the end.”

“Then how does one become an angel?” Sakuma asked, curious.

“There are basically two options: you either are born as one, or an archangel recommends it so God turns it into one, but only if there is a set of wings.”

“Well, that explains why Mendacium has your wings…” Sakuma spoke, sitting down on the floor, as the others stayed in silence. “Lucifer, I have a question.”

“Hm?”

“Can you reattach your wings by yourself?”

“Uhhmm…” This question took Lucifer aback. “Y-Yes… I guess so. Why?”

Sakuma stood up and started stretching. “That’s my leading cue.”

“Eh?” The seven demons were confused.

“I’m getting your wings back.”

“Wait, WHAT?!” Lucifer asked, standing up, wide eyed. Everyone else was in a similar state.

“Well, I’m the Partner of the Seven Sins, the Deadman, the Defender of Evil. It’s only natural for me to get whatever you want.” Sakuma answered, as he continued his stretching.

“…Why?” Lucifer asked. “Why are you that dedicated to us?”

“Because you are the most important people to me.” He explained, which astonished them a bit. “After all, I’m immortal. Whether I like it or not, and I do like it, I have to spend my life with you seven. And I’m not the kind of guy to just sit when a girl cries right in front of him. I’m the kind of guy that tries to constantly make them happy.”

“Sakuma…” Lucifer whispered, amazed by his attitude.

“Plus, you were sent here under false pretense?” Lucifer and the others were rather astonished. “Humans aren’t that great to begin with, I don’t get why God made such a fuss about it.”

Asmodeus’s smile was back. “I love when Sakuma is trying to make us feel better!” she threw herself at him from the side, hugging him and pecking his cheek multiple times with kisses.

“A-Asmodeus?!”

“Mou…” Leviathan’s eyes reflected her jealousy acting up. “Leave him alone!”

Asmodeus glanced at Leviathan and spoke with her signature grin. “Jealous Leviathan is so kawaii!”

“At least let me go.” Sakuma asked, trying to get his arm free. Little did he know that Leviathan got the other one.

Lucifer snickered, which caught Satan’s attention. “Sis?”

“I made a great choice choosing his soul, didn’t I?”

Satan glanced over to Sakuma, who was being argued over by cheery Asmodeus and jealous Leviathan. Mammon was recording the events with her camera, while Belphegor drank a bottle of milk. Satan turned to her supposed sister and answered. “I hate to admit it, but you’re right.”

“Lucifer, you can ask Mendacium for a challenge, right?”

“I have contacts, yes.”

“Great. So settle a challenge for tomorrow. I’ll get your wings no matter what.”

6: Chapter 6 – Battling an Angel
Chapter 6 – Battling an Angel

Sakuma teleported to the human world. The time and location of the battle would be 3:30 AM, at the top of the Big Ben in London. Sakuma had prepared clothes for this occasion: he wore a grey t-shirt with a black crucifix image, dark jeans, and a black long coat that reached his knees.

“Why here?” Sakuma asked himself. “I’m pretty sure that such a crowded place would make the fight easy to spot.”

“Don’t worry.” Sakuma looked up and saw Mendacium descending at a slow speed, followed by about 10 Declarers. “People here won’t even notice us.”

“I see…” Sakuma responded. He glared at Mendacium, which raised a few questions to the angel.

“Why all the haste? Just because I was a jerk and showed off my wings to your little boss?”

“Watch your tongue. I might rip it off.” Sakuma answered, as he typed something on his cellphone. It was a general text to the Seven Sins, asking them to be ready.

“I’m the one who should be making threats here.” Mendacium warned with a serious face, which was rather new. “Declarers, attack!”

The Declarers began to charge with light from the full moon. The attacks of the Declarers could be compared to Lucifer’s Light Beams.

“Beelzebub! Musha-Musha! (Munch-Munch)" Cruentis Tessa, Beelzebub in her weapon form, stretched out of his chest. The chain extended and retracted multiple times, piercing the Declarers and destroying them. The chain quickly wrapped around his arm. The glowing dust passed through Mendacium, whose face returned to grin cockily. “Ferox Ono!” Sakuma jumped way up towards Mendacium, holding Satan in her axe form in his right hand. “Gō Tu Heru!" (Go to Hell) Sakuma somersaulted, and chopped down on Mendacium’s head. Or at least he intended to. Mendacium blocked the attack with two fingers that crossed the blade of the axe, which surprised Sakuma a bit. He placed his feet on Mendacium’s body, so he wouldn’t fall off to the ground.

“Do you really think an angel is as easy to attack as a demon?”

“No, but you’re certainly cockier than a demon.”

“Hm?”

Sakuma drew out his free left hand, which released some steam and began to glow red. “Merutā! (Melter)” Sakuma slammed his left hand against Mendacium’s face and grabbed it tightly, trying to burn, and even, melt it, but to no result. “Eh?”

“Regroup.” Mendacium spoke, as 15 Declarers appeared around the two of them. “You should fall.” Mendacium swung down his arm and fingers, sending Sakuma down towards the ground at a rather fast speed. The Declarers began to follow the Deadman, and he knew it was bad news to see them all charge with light.

“Mammon!” Ferox Ono was replaced by Montem Tettsui, and he back flipped once, trying to establish his balance. Luckily, his dark jacket didn’t escape from his arms. "Sani!" (Mountain Mass) Sakuma threw the hammer, which slammed against the famous clock tower, making protrusions of rock extend out of the tower, which might have taken a tile or two out. Sakuma landed on the platform on his feet and ran towards the tower in order to get his weapon back. Suddenly, a light beam hit the area right in front of his feet, which obligated him to back off. He looked up, seeing five Declarers approach him. He decided to make a run for it, while the Declarers fired multiple light beams, which resulted in him getting hit twice, but that didn’t stop him, despite the pain. He dodge rolled and grabbed Montem Tettsui, and was ready to strike again.

“Are you ok, Sakuma-kun?!” Mammon asked, worried.

“Yeah. Just a two little wounds. That hurt like hell.” Sakuma assured. He stood and began to spin the hammer around his hand. “Pinbōrukueiku! (Pinball Quake)” Sakuma swung the hammer, which hit one of Declarers, and as a reaction, it bounced off and hit another one, repeating the process until all the Declarers turned into dust and it returned to Sakuma, who spun while receiving it into his hands to the force of the throw. “Yes!” The shinning dust then turned into 6 Declarers. “Ok, I might need a new plan.”

“Why not burn them instead of smashing and cutting?”

“Alright… Asmodeus!”

Montem Tettsui was replaced by Amans Ryoubanoken, the double-edged sword that the Sin of Lust turns into. “Yay! Sakuma-kun is going to use me!”

“Please, not right now…” Sakuma asked, his palm on his face. But the second after, he was again focused on the battle. “Neppa Bijon!" (Heat Wave Vision) Sakuma’s eyes flashed pink and he narrowed them at the 6 Declarers, which began to shake and exploded due to the heat wave induced on them. “Alright!”

But the dust formed back into 8 Declarers this time. Sakuma understood that despite his efforts, he couldn’t take them down permanently.

“It seems like you’re in trouble.” Mendacium spoke, as he descended and landed on the rock formation Sakuma had created. “I can help you out.” His hands clenched, having both middle and index fingers on each hand stretched out.

“Grrr…” Sakuma growled. Mendacium pulled back his left arm and before Sakuma could see it, he had pierced his fingers into Sakuma’s chest. Sakuma backed off, the sharp pain of the attack making him go dizzy. Mendacium cleaned the blood off his fingers and approached Sakuma, who was struggling to keep straight up.

“Now do you understand that fighting an angel isn’t the same as fighting a demon?”

“I’ve always known that…” Sakuma spoke, reestablishing his posture. “Hananokao! (Lovely Face)” Sakuma trusted the sword towards the angel, trying to stab his face, but the angel tilted his head to the side, safely dodging the attack.

“You don’t seem like it.”

Sakuma grinned mockingly. “And you don’t look like an angel.” His eyes flashed and Mendacium suddenly became angry for no reason he could understand.

“Why you little…!” Mendcium pulled back his left arm and tried to strike Sakuma again, but Sakuma jumped by using the space between Mendacium’s shoulder and neck with his sword for impulse, which enabled him to escape. “He tricked me?!”

Sakuma landed on his arm, and pointed Tempus Bazuka onto his face. Mendacium looked at Sakuma’s grin of victory. “You get on your nerves rather easily, you know?”

“Agh!?”

“San – Ikiyasume! (3 – Rest)” Sakuma pressed the trigger, which fired a missile onto Mendacium’s face, which made him step back. Mendacium quickly flew away, while Sakuma aimed and fired two more missiles, but they didn’t hit the angel. They hit 4 Declarers that came for his protection, which made them explode. “He’s getting away… Mammon.” Sakuma switched back to the small hammer. “Kuzureru! (Crumble)” The hammer flashed, and the rock platform slowly turn into sand and break apart. “Belphegor.” He called, as the Hammer was replaced with the artillery. “Yonige! (Night Flight)" Sakuma jumped, pointing down the bazooka. It suddenly released a fire stream which propelled him upwards towards the angel.

“What a pesky brat.” Mendacium spoke, as he turned and saw Sakuma approaching, even if many meters below him.

7 Declarers approached Sakuma, all charging their light beam attacks.

“Lucifer!” The bazooka was switched by Luce Yari, the spear. The propulsion still gave him enough force to continue up, which gave me a few seconds of immunity to gravity. “Haipā Bijon!" (Hyper Vision) His eyes flashed yellow, and, in his point of view, everything became colorless, and started moving at an amazingly low speed, including himself. But his thoughts weren't.

The seven Declarers shot their beams, which to Sakuma’s eyes were rather much faster than anything else. He took measures to escape the attack: he flipped over his chest. It was rather slow, due to the fact he was still using the Hyper Vision to slow down everything. He canceled the vision and everything returned to its normal speed, escaping the attacks easily.

“Gō Tu Hebun!" (Go To Heaven) Sakuma fired a thick light beam through the spear. The beam flew towards the Declarers, three of them to be precise, and exploded them. “Belphegor!” The spear was switched by the bazooka again, since Sakuma noticed that the impulse from the previous flight was starting to disappear. Flames came out of the weapon again, flying towards the angel.

“It’s time for me to get serious!” Mendacium proclaimed, moving down towards his enemy. He crossed his right arm across his chest, pointing out his index and middle fingers together, which began to glow yellow. “Luce Gladius!” (Light Sword/Murder) He swung out his arm, releasing a light-beam blade towards Sakuma.

But Sakuma’s grin confused Mendacium. “Wazuka 5-bu ijō! (Just 5 more Minutes)” Sakuma pressed the trigger again, which fired a missile down, which pushed him up even further. The missile got cut by Mendacium’s long range attack, which made it explode, pushing Sakuma even further up.

“What?!”

“Leviathan!” Sakuma switched Tempus Bazuka out for Glacialis Toraidento. “Daizai: Shitto! Hyouchuu Tsukikorosu! (Deadly Sin: Envy! Icicle Death Stab!)" Sakuma trusted the trident forward, stabbing Mendacium’s chest, but not trespassing or penetrating his skin. On the other hand though, an icicle formed on the back of his back, showing that the power of the attack had run through his body. “Alright!”

“Do you really think…”

“Eh?!”

“…you can BEAT AN ANGEL?!” Mendacium punched Sakuma’s face, throwing him down towards the ground below. “Declarers, follow him!” he declared, furious. Multiple Declarers formed behind him and followed Sakuma in order to attack him.

“Asmodeus, help me!” Glacialis Toraidento turned into a blue flame which flew into his chest and a pink came out, turning into the cheery demon with bat-like wings.

“I got you, Sakuma-kun!” Asmodeus confirmed, getting a hold of her crush by getting her arms underneath his, holding him.

Sakuma sighed in relief and then looked at the cheerful demon. “Thank you, Asmodeus.”

“You don’t need to thank me. I love to help you, Sakuma-kun.” Asmodeus replied, which made him feel much happier. But her distant look took his attention. He looked up and saw the Declarers, 3 of them, charging for a different kind of attack. One of the Declarers, the middle one, began to spin like a high-speed top, charging with light.

It then dashed down towards the Demon and the Deadman, like meteorite of sorts. “Watch out, Asmodeus!” Sakuma swung his body back and forth, eventually managing to position himself so his body would be in front of Asmodeus’s, her head right in front of chest. He let gravity do its job and he slid down a little bit, so Asmodeus’s confused head would be placed more or less in front of the gap between his legs. The Declarers hit his back, which pushed the pair towards the Big Ben’s wall. They spun like a wheel due to the force of the pound, Sakuma’s back hitting the Big Ben and entering right through it, making a very little hole on the wall. Luckily, they landed on a floor with a stable platform instead of a clock mechanism. Though, they landed in a rather embarrassing position: Asmodeus was on top of Sakuma, her head between his legs, her chin very near his groin, while Sakuma was in a somewhat similar position, only reversed.

“Ita-ta-ta-tai…!” Asmodeus spoke, recovering from her mild headache. Sakuma was waking up from the impact as well, his eyes slowly opening. And as his bad luck would strike again, Asmodeus sat up, which startled him a bit: her rear end was being pressed onto his face. Which made it hard to breath.

“Maamomeeu! Mpphhh mmmph!” (Asmodeus! Get off!)

“Sakuma-kun, not now!” Asmodeus spoke with a very cheery tone of voice, blushing, which made Sakuma sweatdrop. She flew up, letting him breath properly.

“You sometimes amaze me.” Sakuma admitted, receiving a giggle as a reply. “Let’s get back there!”

“Haiii!” Asmodeus turned into Amans Ryoubanoken and Sakuma grabbed the hilt of the sword. He dashed towards the hole and was ready to attack once again. The Declarers gathered, charging their attacks. But Sakuma saw this as an opportunity.

“Daizai: Nikuyoku! Shunsatsu Jouka!" (Deadly Sin: Lust! Instant Killing Love Song) The blade of the sword began to shine purple and he swung it in a circular fashion, sending in a gigantic wave of energy against the Declarers, shattering them to dust. “Beelzebub!” he switched weapons quickly, knowing that it wouldn’t take long for the Declarers to restore. “Pannomimi! (Bread Crust)” Sakuma  jumped and swung the chain, which wrapped all around the Clock Tower until the very top, locking at the top point. The chain pulled Sakuma up, withdrawing itself. Reaching the top, he had safely escaped the Declarers down below. “Mammon. Kakujouhou Bijon!" (All-Information Vision) Cruentis Tessa was replaced by Montem Tettsui. The Deadman’s eyes flashed yellow, and he scanned the information about Mendacium and some nearby Declarers, obtaining some answers about their powers. “The wings are made of feathers that are in the end light?”

“Apparently.” Mammon confirmed the information. “The Declarers are 100% light made out by feathers of the wings.”

“So to create more of them, he only has to use some of the feathers in his wings, right?” Sakuma asked, receiving a positive response. He scanned the wings quickly. “The restore with light?”

“So as long as there’s light, there can be Declarers.” Mammon deduced. Right now, the brightest lights were the lights of the city. This got Sakuma thinking.

“Satan!” he jumped and the hammer was replaced by the axe this time. “Fueisu-Supurittā!” (Face Splitter) Sakuma aimed towards Mendacium’s face, ready to strike down and split the angel’s head in half.

“Declarer.” He spoke, closing his eyes in conviction, and a Declarer made a tackling attack, equal to the one used before. He got hit on the stomach, and was sent towards the face of the clock. Sakuma turned and grinned, his plan coming into place. He flipped and turned so his feet would hit the center piece of the clock, which stopped him, and luckily didn’t break it.

“I’m sorry, London. But this is for Lucifer’s sake!” Sakuma slammed his right hand onto the clock. “With the power of melting in my left hand, I have the power of lightning on the right! Sandāpāmu! (Thunder Palm)”his right hand emanated blue sparks that ran through the mechanics of the Big Band. Through the circuits, they eventually reached an electric central and the extra dosage of electricity triggered a short circuit throughout the entire city, or at least area. “Ha! Now you won’t be able to keep up with the Declarers-?! Oh no…” Sakuma’s plan had flunked when he noticed Mendacium’s silhouette. It was being created by the moonlight of the Full Moon.

“I still have the natural light reflected on the moon charging my minions. Actually, I never was using the electrical light. Artificial light doesn’t work the same way, you know?”

Mendacium’s information made Sakuma recall how Artificial Light doesn’t affect Demons the same way as natural light. He blamed himself for not making an immediate connection on how natural light and artificial light had different effects to both demons and angels.

“Grrr…”

“It was a nice try though, I won’t deny that.”

Sakuma climbed onto the minute hand of the clock, which was pointing towards the 9 on the face, since it was 3:45 AM at the time. “Leviathan!” He once again switched weapons, and was ready to attack. “Hārekuin, Seiji, Emerarudo: Sanmen Shitto! (Harlequin, Celadon, Emerald: Three-Sided Jealousy!)" The three spikes of the trident began to shine in three different tones of green and three powerful lasers were shot in a triangular fashion towards Mendacium.

“Shield.” The declarers formed a large protection in front of him, most of them disappearing upon impact of the attack. Mendacium was confused, since Sakuma was no longer on the hand of the clock. “Where is he?!”

“Daizai: Kouman! Koutouteki Ginyoku!" (Deadly Sin: Pride! Transcendent Silver Wings!) Mendcium looked up, from where the sound came from, and he saw Sakuma flying down towards him, pointing down Luce Yari, with a mirage of two bright silver wings protruded from the bottom of the pole, next to the blade of the weapon. He flinched, and Sakuma stabbed the weapon onto his chest, this time almost penetrating the flesh. Sakuma smirked in accomplishment, seeing that there was a chance to win. But Mendacium’s face showed his fury.

“You damn brat! Declarers, Archery!” Sakuma tried to jump away, but Mendacium held him back by not letting go of Lucifer. Sakuma wouldn’t let Lucifer behind, despite being able to do so. About 30 Declarers gathered around the two, and they all fired a light beam that pierced Sakuma, making him screech in pain.

“AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHRRRRGHHH!”

“Lucidus Caedem!” Mendacium swung his arms in what appeared to be random movements, but his fingers were coated with light, which slashed Sakuma each time they passed through. Sakuma was thrown up towards the roof of the Big Ben, making a hole upon impact and entering the building again. This time, much more hurt than the previous time.

“Sakuma, are you ok?!” Lucifer asked, deeply concerned.

“I am…” he lied, obviously. He slowly stood up and began walking towards the hole on the ceiling. “Mainly because… I know… what to do to defeat him…!”

7: Chapter 7 – Sacrifices and Apologies
Chapter 7 – Sacrifices and Apologies

Sakuma’s wounds began to heal, thanks to his regeneration abilities. But he was still feeling a lot of pain. A very sharp one, none the less.

“What do you mean, you know how to defeat him?”

“I know how to defeat him… I know how to get your wings back… and I know how to make him no longer an angel…” Sakuma composed himself, standing up properly.

"How are you going to defeat him?! He's an angel! The only way you could attack him with the same level of power would be by-?!" Lucifer stopped herself from speaking, knowing that Sakuma already knew about it. "No! Don't you dare doing that!"

"Sorry, Lucifer. But for once, I'll have to disobey." Sakuma apologized, as his wounds fully healed. "You can recover your wings if I pierce you through him, right?"

"Sakuma... Yes." She answered hesitantly.

"That's all I needed to hear." He spoke, as he jumped out of the hole on the roof of the Big Ben. "Hyper Vision." Sakuma activated his ability to see everything at a much slower rate, but thinking just like he would. He did this in order to speak with Lucifer telepathically.

"Sakuma, don't do this..." Lucifer requested, her voice sounding worried.

"Lucifer, I already made up my mind. And, if I've learned something with you, is to follow my ideas until the end." Sakuma's words made her speechless. "And I have a request for you."

"Don't..."

"Tell Mammon it's good to share secrets once in a while. Tell Beelzebub that sharing a meal with someone is just as good as a big banquet. Tell Asmodeus that she should take it easy before she dislocates a hip." Lucifer couldn't help but laugh a bit. "Tell Leviathan that she's beautiful the way she is. Tell Belphegor that she can enjoy the world once in a while by staying awake for more than a couple of hours. Tell Satan that she needs to find a little bit more of patience. And, for you... Keep being perfect in every way you can."

Sakuma deactivated the Hyper Vision and spun Luce Yari twice, posing in a battle positioned. He closed his eyes, making a straight face. He could hear… Lucifer sob.

“Don’t… do… this…”

“I’ve already done it once, it doesn’t hurt that much.” Sakuma tried to make a joke out of the situation, but Lucifer just kept sobbing.

“Baka…” she muttered, sobbing harder. Sakuma smiled, looking at the weapon he held.

“The Sin of Pride, self-love, is worried about me. I must be a really special boy.”

“Idiot. I just… I just want my wings back… Just do it, idiot…” Lucifer murmured, him knowing that she was just trying to act strong. Sakuma turned to Mendacium and make a serious face.

“Declarers, Attack! All at once!” Mendacium ordered. He himself charged an attack between his hands, while all the Declarers charged for the light beams.

“Here goes… This is for her. This is for them.” Sakuma spoke, grabbing Luce Yari as tightly as possible. “At least I’ll put it to good use, unlike last time…” he closed his eyes shut and tears fell down his eyes.

Some Declarers attacked in advance, much to Mendcium’s discontent. But Sakuma swiftly dodged by never breaking his position and place: he just titled the body parts that needed to dodge.

“Too slow.” Sakuma affirmed, much to his surprise.

“How is he doing that?!” Mendacium thought, still preparing his attack. He stared at Sakuma and noticed something weird about him. “His… His power! Why is his power going frenzy like that?! How does he have so much of it?! … He’s… He’s giving his power to the weapon? He is going to make his attack more powerful by transferring his power to the spear? Is he crazy? He is basically giving away his immortality and jumping to his death! He’ll back out… He’ll back out for sure!” Mendacium’s face had a grin of certainty.

“Akarui…” Luce Yari began to shine brightly yellow, and an energy wing shape surrounded the blade of the weapon. Sakuma jumped with amazing strength and power, jumping high into the air, right towards Mendacium. The multiple Declarers and Mendacium himself began firing multiple light beams against Sakuma many of them piercing his body, but he didn’t even flinch once. Which was somewhat weird: he wasn’t immortal anymore. After all, he had given his immortality to Luce Yari and turned into a powerful attack.

“WHAT?!”

“…HIKARI!!” (Brightest Light) Sakuma stabbed the weapon through Mendacium’s chest. He couldn’t even breathe out after Sakuma had pierced his body. He curled back and yelled in despair. "Go... To... HEAVEN!" Sakuma yelled with all the strength he could channel into his lungs. A beam went through Mendacium, which took his wings, since they were fired out of his back in the shape of a beam. The beam was Lucifer, since Luce Yari was no longer in Sakuma's hands. The beams collided into one after moving around at high speed. The image and silhouette of Lucifer appeared underneath the moonlight, with her wings attached to her back. Mendacium was teleported back to his world, Heaven, and all the Declarers exploded into shining dust. Sakuma looked up. Time was generous and had slowed down for him. He smiled weakly, looking at Lucifer's figure and smile. She was in a position that resembled a swimmer that had just emerged from the water, with a great quantity of shining dust around her, which intensified her beauty.

Sakuma closed his eyes and let gravity do its job right after his thought. "She really does look beautiful with those wings. I guess it's a fitting last image for me." He fell down towards the ground, his body losing the remaining life energy he kept. It was the end of his life...

"SAAAAAKUUUUUMAAAAAAA!" Right before he was about to rest in peace, Lucifer yelled his name. She flew down the Clock-tower and halfway down, where Sakuma was at the moment, she held his body and trapped it in a hug. She spun, making so they would no longer be upside down, and her eyes began to overflow with tears. "Oi! Wake up! Wake up...!" She sniffled. "Please wake up..." She slowly spun around, maintaining her glide. He wasn't responding to anything she said. "Please! I chose you to do the deal for a reason! I chose you as the one that should be our Defender! Mammon, Beelzebub, Asmodeus, Leviathan, Belphegor, Satan and myself don't want you to go after showing us so much kindness! How do you think we'll feel if you go?!"

Sakuma's body was limp, and his chest wasn't rising up and down like it should. His wounds weren't regenerating. He had transferred her his immortality, the whole thing, to her, so he could strike down Mendacium and get her wings back.

"Please... Come back to us..." Lucifer begged, which was rather surprising to an outsider's point of view. "If you're not coming back... At least, before you completely go, I'll give you... What I've been wanting to give you for some time now..." Lucifer's face, even with tears, blushed brightly red. She had a good grip on Sakuma, and was sure she could do it. She leaned in to him with her damp lips, closing her eyes, and she gently locked them onto his.

Suddenly, she felt like her father was for once generous to her. She felt Sakuma kiss her back. She opened her eyes and saw Sakuma glowing yellow. Sakuma opened his eyes as well, and broke the kiss, smiling.

"You-You're alive?!" Lucifer asked, very surprised that the Deadman was back.

"I guess so." He answered honestly. Suddenly, she felt him hug her back and he leaned in for another kiss. She tried to dodge it, but couldn't. Suddenly, she felt something weird. She felt her wings retract into her. She opened her eyes and saw that Sakuma had her wings on his back. He was completely healed.

"H-How are you doing that?" Lucifer asked, feeling gravity taking effect on her once again.

"I have no idea..." Sakuma looked at the wings that were attached to him. "Maybe..."

"Hm?"

"Maybe the attack made the energy ran through him and then go into the wings. And when you kissed me, the Power Sharing ability must've kicked in and you gave me back my energy unknowingly." He deduced. He suddenly felt the hands around his waist raise up to his neck. And get tighter. "Eh?!"

He was confused as to why Lucifer was trying to choke him. He glanced at her and actually found her cute with that half-angry half-happy expression.

"If you ever scare me like that again, I will kill you!"

Sakuma laughed, knowing that, in the end, was a crude joke. "Alright, alright, I'm sorry." Sakuma then remembered something. "Umm... Why are your wings on my back?"

"They must have been transferred to you via the Power Sharing ability." Lucifer deduced, both of them looking at the glowing wings.

"Then I should give them back, ri-?"

"Use them."

Sakuma looked at Lucifer, rather surprised.  "Eh?"

"You're the only one I allow to use my wings." Lucifer spoke with her eyes closed, looking somewhat bossy. Sakuma couldn't help but feel special, in a way. He picked Lucifer in a different way, having his arms around her shoulders and underneath her knees. She blushed, somewhat embarrassed, but then decided to place her arms around his neck. "If you're going to carry me in such a way, at least make it fast!"

"Hai, hai." Sakuma agreed. He flapped his wings twice, and he flew forward, carrying Lucifer.

"Kanpai!" Asmodeus cheered, happy for the success of Sakuma. She pulled the string on a couple of party poppers, spreading decorations through the living room.

“I can’t believe I really have my wings back!” Lucifer said, rubbing her cheek on the soft feathered member. Even if she could retract them, she chose not to.

“You really did it, Sakuma-kun.” Leviathan affirmed, standing next to Sakuma, against the wall, just like him.

“Well, I almost died. When we return I couldn’t tell whether the six of you were angry, happy, worried, or he three at the same time.” He admitted, recalling the moment he stepped into Hell again. “At least Satan didn’t punch me in the gut yet.”

“Maybe she’s going to punch you twice tomorrow.”

“I’m happy for you, sis.” Satan admitted, smiling at Lucifer. It was a rare sight, none the less, and everyone was surprised to see her that way.

“Th-Thanks, Satan.” Lucifer spoke, recovering from the shock of seeing her smile twice in the same week.

“Say cheese!” Mammon spoke, recording the entire thing.

“Cheese… Milk you can chew… Ba~~~” Beelzebub fell onto the floor, covering herself with the blank blanket Sakuma had given her not so long ago.

“Sakuma deserves a reward!” Asmodeus yelped.

“A reward?” he was surprised, that’s for sure. After all, in a way… he already had a reward.

“As a reward, you get an entire night with me!”

“Wait, what?!” Sakuma blushed intensely. Asmodeus approached his face and grinned cockily, a face he hadn’t seen her use yet. But before he could respond again, someone pulled his arm and ambushed him. Everyone was surprised: it was Lucifer. Well, Sakuma wasn’t really surprised. “I guess I didn’t answer the right thing, did I?”

“Maybe you just weren’t fast enough.” Lucifer laughed lowly. The 6 others demons looked at them, rather curious. They knew they had kissed, but… were they really dating? And maybe that was the answer to their sharp pain in their hearts. Well, Satan keeps telling herself it’s hate.

“Sorry.”

“Tell that the way I want you to tell it.” Sakuma was confused at first, but when he saw Lucifer with her eyes closed and leaned forward, he understood it. He leaned in and pressed his lips onto hers, making both blush.

He is Sakuma. He is the Deadman who made a deal with 7 Sins. And he is the one who got Lucifer’s wings back, and made her fall in love for him.

In a deep unknown area of Hell, in a room with a large circular table in its center. It had 13 seats, but only 2 were empty. 11 shadowy figures were ready to start an important conversation, only waiting for the remaining memebers.

“Are they coming?” asked a female voice.

“They should.” The one who appeared to be the leader answered. Suddenly, the two remaining figures appeared.

“Yo, boss. Sorry for the delay, but my brother here had some problems.”

“Oi! Do you think this is a joke?!” a wild-looking figure asked, ready to jump at the delayed ones and rip off their guts.

“Calm down, big brother.” Two female voices, each next to the wild one, spoke in unison. The figure retracted back to his seat.

“Alright. We are all here. Now we can begin.” The leader declared. “We 13 are fitting rulers. And that is why I propose this: let’s dominate Earth.”
