Prolouge

Commoners, fairies, ninja and kunoichi, witches and warlocks, angels, and grim reapers. This is the social triangle of a small, unknown island in the Atlantic Ocean. If anyone came here, the inhabitants would be unnoticeable, for they are to small to see with the human eye. Humans- or anything at that matter- will be able to land on the island anyway. Now, enough about us, let's get into information about the island and its creatures.

The Island of Imagine is what the tiny creatures call their secretive island. The island has the many things of the world. Thriving cities; plenty of agriculture; healthy citizens. The creatures living on the Island of Imagine call themselves, in general, maliaks. The social class the citizen is in, is dependent on his or her ability. For example, if a female maliak had the ability to bring a dead citizen's soul to the Overworld or Underworld, as the maliaks say, she would be more likely to fall into the Grim Reaper category and have the jobs for that species of maliak.

In extremely rare cases, a citizen will have all the skills of the different species. If a makaya were to have all the skills, they would be placed into the highest and most respected species possible in the maliakan world. No, this highly honored species isn't Grim Reaper. It's unidentified to us humans. But what we do know, is that there is only one at a time and whoever has this ranking is worshipped as if they were a god or goddess. They have a big responsibility and practically rule the island. The one with this ranking lives until his or her successor has completed their training. Anyone who is destined for this spot will be shown to the current high-ranking makaya.

The following story is one of an extraordinary successor.

2: Plane Ride
Plane Ride

"Gather 'round students." My Instructor called to the class. "I have a story to tell."

My class and I sat on the logs surrounding a small campfire. Tonight wasn't cold; unlike last night which had icy winds that almost knocked us off the camp logs.

Instructor Gary flew up so that he was a few feet above the fire. It seems like a good idea that everyone, even Commoners, had the ability to fly. Gives everyone something to be proud of even if they get a Ranking they don't want.

Instructor Gary stroked his long, purple beard; his eyes were closed. He seemed to be searching his thoughts for a good story to tell before Sleeping Hours. "Aha!" He exclaimed in his usual raspy voice. He'll be in the House of the Seniors sometime next week.

"When I was a young boy," Instructor Gary began, "I was a bit like D842A, always wanting to do things my way." All attention was turned to me. A small blush spread across my face. Though I liked everything to go my way, one thing I absolutely hated was receiving unwanted attention.

"I was chastised many times as a child for not taking suggestions from others." Instructor Gary continued. "Did just about everything the way I wanted. A few times, when I was bored, I let others decide. The day before the Ranking Ceremony I would participate in, my Instructor had chosen me to help out with the setting up." A type of energy was released from the flames. My waist length, raspberry hair blew wildly behind me. When the wind-like energy, ended a stage appeared in the now large fire.

"I still had that 'I'm the leader' attitude that day. So during the day I would boss the others around when I could." The flames changed to a scene of a young boy telling others what to do. "At one point, I got a little carried away. I had the quickest set of feet so I had the job of running to the principle's office and asking for the needed materials. Things got a lot harder when things were needed like rapid fire. I began bringing people with me and eventually caused a slowly moving set up. Pretty soon, I was sent to the Chastisement Chamber. The next day, I had been changed into the makaya I am now." And with that, Instructor Gary flew down and the fire went back to normal.

G04G raised his hand. Instructor Gary called on him. "So you're saying that bad things will get us in the Chastisement Chamber?" Greg asked.

"No. I'm saying the Chastisement Chamber changes us." Instructor Gary replied. "Now, it's almost time for Sleeping Hours. Get to your cabins."

We all did as instructed. As sleepy as I was, I couldn't fall asleep. I tossed and turned but for once, sleep wouldn't take over me. Eventually, I felt someone tap my arm.

"D842A." The poker whispered.

"What do you want." I muttered sleepily.

"It's time to get up." The poker replied.

My eyes shot open. "Get out!" I exclaimed as I rushed over to my dresser.

The sounds of running footsteps and a closing door signaled for me to get ready.

As usual, I put on my maid like dress. My church socks reached my knees and my buckle up shoes were black. I tied my hair into a neat ponytail then rushed outside.

The female dress code. It's easier to put on but harder to remember than the male dress crop. The boys wore butler like clothing, church shoes, and ankle socks. Sleek hair always parted 10 inches from the center. Whereas girls, had a different hairstyle each day.

No one paid any attention to me practically running out the cabin. Well, I knew there is one person actually caring what I do. J58850Y. The guy has had a crush on me since we were in grade school.

My deep scarlet eyes scanned the crowd for the blue haired boy. While concentrating on everyone else, I hadn't noticed his approach.

"D.A, we're heading to the plane." J58850Y said, using my shortened name, as he pulled me in the direction of the class.

"Let me go J.Y!" I exclaimed.

J.Y didn't let me go. He seemed to be in deep thought as he pulled me to the plane. When we finally made it, that's when he let go. We, and the rest of the class, entered and took our seats. J.Y and I sat all the way in the back. We had always been the outcasts since we have personalities no one really wants to have to deal with. I'm a bossy, do-it-my-way kind of makaya. He is the crazy, I'll-talk-if-I-wanna kind of boy.

Surprisingly, F906A and her friend, L113C, sat in the back, too. F.A and L.C are the two most popular girls in the class. It's a wonder why the didn't choose to sit up front.

The two friends sat on the opposite row from us. F.A would glance over every now and then while L.C would send us death glares until, finally, the plane took off. Once the pulsing air of the plane taking flight came through, the two sat in what they said was the 'proper' way of sitting. Back straight; hands holding each other in your lap; hair behind your shoulders, if let down. Those hideous girly-girls.

A few minutes after take off, F.A ended up going from glancing, to staring. Eventually, I got annoyed and ended up following her gaze. It landed me on J.Y.

To test my thought of F906A possibly had a crush on J58850Y, I asked her, "Hey F.A, who you looking at?" as I rested my chin on my hand. My elbow had been resting on the arm rest.

F.A was flustered, blushing a light red. Before she could open her mouth to lie, we seemed to grow! And it wasn't just us, the plane, too, was growing. I looked out the window and saw some kind of barrier.

"We will be landing in about 30 seconds." The pilot informed through the intercom when the growing process ended.

"Everyone, choose a partner of the opposite gender before exiting the plane." Instructor Gary instructed when the plane landed.

In an instant, F906A shot out of her seat and walked over. J.Y and I were halfway towards the door when she asked, "Hey, J.Y, do you maybe want to be my partner?" with the same light red blush from earlier.

J.Y and I, turned around, shook our heads. "Sorry F.A. I already got this girl as my partner." He apologized with a smile as he pointed to me.

F.A pouted and crossed her arms. J.Y and I turned and walked to the exit.

When we were successfully out the plane, the familiar tall trees and grassy grounds had somehow disappeared.

I looked around at my surroundings. One building was made out of an unusual red material. That's where Instructor Gary lead us. Into the wooden doors of the tall, red building.
