Of Frost and Flame

It began very long ago...

The Frost Princess' name was Crystal, her last name was nonexistent, as is with most spirits. She was a beautiful woman who appeared young, despite her ancient age, her hair was nearly transparent and naturally baby blue, it was said to be so long, she kept it in a long braid that still fell down her back. She wore a white dress made of ice that emits a bright blue glow, white boots that shared the dress's glow, and a crystal blue crown that was shaped by snowflakes. She was very pale, her face literally snow white, her eyes a pale blue that glowed as brightly as her apparel.

She lived alone, isolated in a ice cave lost deep in the artic, she slept in a icicle she imprisoned herself in after every full moon. The cave itself showed no evidence that any living being lived there, and no visible entrance or exit. However, the princess was never lonely, she was pleased by being surrounded by ice and snow, and ice and snow alone. The frozen chamber was never enough for her though, and she broke free of it every full moon to allow herself to explore her solitary winter wonderland. She skated across the frozen ponds, soared through the skies by manipulating a block of ice to carry her, and danced gracefully through the snow, her delicate feet barely making a mark in it. Alas once the full moon passed, she once again trapped herself in her frigid home.

Far off from the Frost Princess's artic home, there lived the Flame Princess, who's name was Lehava. She also was very beautiful and appeared young despite her age, but her appearance was nothing like that of Crystal's. Lehava wore traditional red Native-American garments that glowed orange, and dreadlocks in her charcoal black hair, with red highlights on the ends, which were also surprisingly natural, her hair sharing the same back long length as the Frost Princess's. Her skin, in contrast to Crystal's snow white color, was almost black as her hair, causing her to appear like a shadow from far away, her eyes were a fiery orange that glowed red. She also had tattoos all over her limbs, that flashed red, orange, and yellow, they made her seem like she was on fire herself, as their glow danced and gleamed much like flames do.

Unlike Frost Princess's ice cave, Lehava lived on a volcanic island, where the surface was made purely of igneous rocks, otherwise known as cooled magma. there were cracks all over the crust filled with liquid streams of lava, and island was covered in volcanoes big and small, but the largest one was where she made her home. She too only awoke when the moon was full, but the way she spent her night underneath the bright spiritual moonlight was different then how her opposite did. She rose out of her fiery home by forcing it to erupt, sending herself flying through the smoke filled sky, and landing hard on her feet, causing the ground to crush under her, creating more craters. She would then do a what seemed to be a tribal dance powerful enough to awaken volcanoes that had been inactive for centuries. The volcanoes would light up the island as she danced conducting the lava as it flowed out. By the time she was finished, the moon disappeared yet again, and she launched herself into the air once again, using another volcano to do so, and fell back into her own.

As you may have guessed the princesses were perfectly at peace in their otherwise desolate kingdoms, never even knowing that the other was so far, yet so close. They would have never guessed, that there was someone, somewhere, that was so different from themselves, yet so similar, in so many ways. Until that one night.

Both Lehava and Crystal had awaken from their slumber, it was the night of the full moon once again. But, they had finally gotten bored of their homelands and they had decided to travel long and far to use their powers on other destinations. Crystal had found a beautiful place that was covered in snow, and was home to many beautiful frost covered mountains, luckily, the place was also deserted of life, she could prance as she pleased. Unfortunately, Lehava found it as well, and she wasn't as happy as she was about it. To her the frozen barren land was dreadful, her normally fire hot body temperature was lowering quickly, and she felt faint and so very cold.

She swiftly pounded into one of the mountains with her fists, trying desperately to get to what she thought would be the lava interior, confused as to why this volcano was pointed, and had this cold white powder all over it. She had never witnessed snow, or mountains before, or even the feeling of coldness. Before long, she was too tired to continue fighting. So, she resorted to dancing, the same of which caused the volcanoes to erupt. The dance commanded lava from as far as the core of the earth to flowed upward, until it reached through to the top of the mountain. The top of the mountain was blown off as the lava, magma, and rock burst into the air, smoke turning the sky gray. The Flame Princess happily threw herself in, the moment she hit the lava she already felt stronger than ever.

The Frost Princess noticed the sky darken, and her beautiful snow, ice, and frost being melted away as she could only watch in horror. She looked up to see one of the mountains looked strange, it had become so warm, so warm she could hardly stand to be anywhere near it. She shrieked loudly, frozen "tears", which were more like clear slush, ran down her face as she ran from the odd mountain. Then, she felt something touch her skin, something that made her feel pain like she never had before. A piece of still hot magma rock had hit her, right on the leg. She let out a blood-curdling scream in pain, as she fell into a snow patch that hadn't melted yet. She whimpered as she rubbed a handful of the snow on the spot, making the skin return and all as if it never happened.

She vengefully searched for the one responsible for ruining her wonderland, and set her eyes on the Flame Princess herself. She commanded whatever little ice, and snow that there was left to float her up to the volcano, the heat was torture to her, but she convinced herself, she would return any pain she felt a hundred fold on Lehava. As soon as she reached the top, the volcano was done erupting, giving her a clear shot to knock the Flame Princess clear off of it. Lehava was thrown several feet away from the volcano, and before she knew who or what had hit her, Crystal had jumped down after her, making sure she landed feet first right on top of her.

The battle was on. Lehava grabbed Crystal's leg, and seared it as badly as she could before letting go. Crystal fell off of her in pain, screaming and shouting, her leg badly burned. She quickly created a ice barrier around herself, but Lehava just burned through it. She grabbed the back of Crystal's dress, and threw her high in the air, she fell roughly on the ground, coughing violently. She created icicles from thin air, her only choice, since there was little ice left to defend herself with, and threw them at lehava. One hit her arm, another struck her leg, and two got stuck in her stomach. She was badly injured, but managed to get just one more move. Before falling to her knees with blood loss, she was able to do one last dance. A dance that caused lava to flow from every one of the mountains, and straight on to Crystal. The Frost Princess melted instantly, much like her precious snow and ice. While the Flame Princess died of blood loss soon after. The battle of Frost and Flame was over, but there were no winners or survivors.

The story of the Frost princess and the Flame Princess is an ancient one, but their rage against each other is still very alive. Their rage is what inspired war and battle all over the world, and it's a very good chance that if you feel any emotion, rage, pain, or bitterness toward another, it's their own that runs though you. Don't make the same mistake that they did. If you feel rage towards someone else, don't fight them, no one ever wins, but there's always another way.
