Chapter One

"Hey Paul. Grab your camera and take yourself and young Hannah off to the houses at the bottom of Dartsfield Lane. There's a situation kicking off there between some neighbours, after the stream there burst it's banks last night."
As soon as their boss walked out of the office, Paul and Hannah gathered together the equipment they needed, jumped in one of the 'Fernmoor Herald' cars and quickly made their way to the lane.
On arrival they saw a small group of angry residents. Paul told Hannah to stay in the car for now. As Paul got closer to them, he could see a middle aged man scrambling up onto his knees and being helped up by who Paul assumed to be the man's wife. On getting nearer, he could hear what they were saying.
"Remember what I said. If you want sandbags, go 'n' get your own."
"Yes, I know but if we wait much longer the stream will be bringing the sewage and everything else in it, into our home. It'll hit us before it hits you."
Paul hesitantly approached the two men, camera in hand and nervously began to speak. "Hi there. I'm from the 'Fernmoor Herald'. Would you mind if I take a few photographs and my colleague asks you a few questions?" Let's just say Paul got more than he bargained for.
Talk about pouring fuel onto the fire, Paul's polite words seemed to stop them from arguing amongst themselves and redirect their anger towards Paul.
"We haven't got time for all that. Can't you see what we're up against here? If you haven't come here to help, then you might as well sod off!"
Paul didn't need telling twice and quickly retreated back to the car.
