Prologue

“There are people in life that are thought of as monsters,” my mom read. “but in reality they are not, just a little misunderstood.”  pausing to sip some of her water she looked from me to the book. “There was once a time where monsters and humans lived together but both had different realms. The realm of the humans where man is known as knowledge and the realm of the Unknown the wisest and the strongest.”

“Mama why are they called monsters? Aren’t they human too?”

“Humans thought that people who had unnatural abilities were not humans. Back then, when every living being was christian everything unnatural was thought of as children of lucifer. Cast away or killed, until they were forced into hiding.”

“That’s so mean mommy. I hate humans!”

Mom laughed and smiled at me. “Then you are saying you hate your mommy, daddy, and yourself, Sophie.”

“I don’t hate you mommy. I love all of you!” I giggled, kissing mom on her forehead.

“All of us?” Dad said coming into the room.

“Yup, even the monsters.”

“Aren’t they scary, Sophie?” he asked.

“No daddy, I love them all.” I looked back to mom and asked her to keep reading.

“Until one man, named Aaron, built a kingdom for monsters to be at peace. Since then humans though that the monsters were banished by the power of god, letting time pass with them making monsters just a myth.”

My smile grew wider with joy.

“Why are you smiling, darling?” dad asked.

“I’m happy that they are safe, that no human can harm them.”

Climbing down my bed I grabbed my sea serpent toy from my drawer. “Come on Hydra lets get ready for bed.” Going to the bathroom brushed my teeth and climbed back to bed, pulling my bed covers and kissing mom and dad good night.

“If you need anything Sophie Mrs. Lyre is downstairs. We’ll be back soon.” Mom said closing the doors.

Running out of my bed I hugged both of them. “I love you, mommy.’ I said kissing her cheek looking to daddy I kissed him too. “I love you, daddy. Please be safe.”

“We will.” They said as they closed the door leaving me in the middle of the room.

Covering myself with my blankets I hugged Hydra close going deeper into sleep.

2: Chapter 1
Chapter 1

Boarding the plane to Denver, I took a last look at my homeland. The cool breeze and the luscious green land. I know Colorado would have the same greens as Washington but it isn’t the same. I’ll miss running through the forest like I did with dad. The way the wind hit my face and coming home to a warm fire place with moms homemade hot chocolate.  A tear escaped from my eye, I’m going to miss you mom and dad. This will be the last tear I will shed.

“Are you ready to go to your new home?”My grandmother asked. I nodded looking out of the plane’s window. “And there’s this lovely young man that I’m dying to introduce you to.”

Grandmother Niki is packed with enthusiasm as always. I wonder how grandpa is doing…

“Sophie are you listening?” I looked at my grandmother and saw that she was beginning to worry.

“I was just thinking about how grandpa is doing.”

Silence filled the air and I took out my ipod putting on Jack Johnson’s song ‘Upside Down’

At least it’ll cheer me up…

____________________________________________________________________________

Running I looked around trying to find for something… but what was it?

“Sophie run faster!” a male voice yelled at me from behind.

“Can’t you see that I’m running as fast as I can, Darwin!”

Grandpa? Is it even possible for him to run?

“Find your safe house and remember what I told you!”

What safe house? Where is it?

I kept running looking around for my pursuer but there was nothing in the thick trees. Sweating and panting, I looked back and stopped for a minute to catch my breath.

“Wrong move sweetheart.” the man appeared before me, his eyes full of lust. “But before I take you with me.. Lets have some fun together.”

Capturing my lips he forced his tongue in my mouth, unzipping his pants revealing his undershorts. Tears escaped my eyes once more while struggling to be free from the man. His hands moved under my skirt ripping my underwear leaving me nude from underneath.

A grin appeared on him “A virgin… That’s how I love my girls.”

Without thinking I began screaming and crying, calling for a man…

“James!” I yelled “James please..”

Looking back at the man his eyes wide in horror looking at something behind me. Slowly I turned around but before I got a glimpse of what it was, I fell to the ground.

“No please forgive me!” I heard the man beg.

“There is no forgiveness to those who harm my Sophie.”

___________________________________________________________________________

"Sophie wake up dear" My grandmother called from her seat.

Opening my eyes I looked around seeing a flight attendant near grandma’s seat looking worried.

"What happened?" I asked my grandma.

"You were having a nightmare and began screaming, pounding the seat in front of you."

"Oh." Thank god it was just a dream. "I'm sorry about the incident that occurred." I looked at the flight attendant and then at the passenger in front of me.

"It's alright ma'am. Would you care for a cup of water?" He asked. "It'll calm your nerves."

I nodded and waited for the man to return with the cup of water.

"Sophie what happened?"

"It's like you said grandma. It was a nightmare, a nightmare I never want to have ever again."

"I know but what happened in your nightmare?"

Coming back with a cup of cool water, I thanked the man as he left.

"I was in the woods running with grandpa yelling at me to run faster. Once I lost site of grandpa I stopped to catch my breathe and a man pinned me to the tree he said ‘before I take you with me.. Lets have some fun together.’  and he was about to…. I screamed for help while I was crying.. Another man came and thats when I fainted.”

“Oh honey I’m sorry.” Grandma said wiping my tears.

“I’m crying? It was just a dream.” I began laughing and looked back to my grandmother. “You didn’t do anything grandmother so please don’t apologize.”

“The flight to Colorado is about to land. Please proceed to your seats and buckle up.”

“We’ll talk later. Grandpa is waiting for us at the airport.”

“Ok”

Getting off the plane was difficult, the passengers became mobs once we landed not to mention we looked like the walking dead… Passing by the luggage wheel I saw the same people shoving each other to get their stuff.

“It’s a good thing you didn’t bring a luggage, Sophie”

As policemen gathered around the crowd howling people over their shoulders, shouting orders and making people go into a formation. Suddenly police dogs came running from exit to the policemen. Except for one….

Woof Woof

The dog came running in my direction barking, scared I ran the other direction. Why the hell  is this dog chasing me?!

“Sophie stop!” Grandma yelled “Stop Sophie!”

Catching up to me the dog jumped on to me and started licking my face.

“Bruno!” The cop jogging to where I laid on the ground. “I’m sorry ma’am, I don’t know what got in him.”

Giving me his hand, I took it suddenly meeting the man eye to eye.

“Sophie?” his blue eyes grew wide. “Sophie Willow?”

Startled I looked up to see the man again. How does he know me? Who is he? Getting a better look at him I suddenly remembered…

“Zach?” I asked remembering his hipster brown hair.

“Long time no see Soph. How come you’re back?”

“My parents suffered an accident. I was either going to an orphanage or lie with my grandparents.”

“I’m sorry. I didn’t…”

“Don’t feel sad for me. Everyone dies at one point, I guess this was their point.”

“But you’re alone and without your mom..”

“Zach, do you want me to fall into depression?”

“No but all I’m trying to say is..”

“I know what you want to say but thats enough, I already spent 3 months feeling miserable. Right now I  just want to move on.”

“.....”

“Come on and cheer up. I see Bruno is happier than ever since you adopted him.”

“Yeah.  He’s stopped fearing lighting and his newspaper phobia. I guess training him as a police dog gave him more confidence.”

“Well if his confidence raised, how about yours?”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean what is your relationship status  with Amy? Did you summon up the confidence to ask her out?”

“You still remember?”

“I ask you a question first.. Did you or did you not ask her?”

“Oh I did.. She just wasn’t interested in me.”

“Oh… and you’ve got another girl in mind?”

“Yup and we’re going out too.”

“Well that’s great! You’ve got to introduce her to me.”

“I will once we get back to school. She’s working a part time job at her mom’s restaurant.”

“Well we should stop by sometime..”

“That’s not possible unless you're willing to drive for sixteen hours all the way to Houston,Texas.”

“Oh.. Well lets hang out and catch up.”

“Catch up on what?”

“How our lives have been, since the time I visited? How old was I grandma?”

“You were two years old when you visited. You were scared at first since everything was so different from Washington. But then you became friends with Zach and soon Taylor's daughter became friends with you.”

“Lilly!”

“What about her?” Zach asked.

“I almost forgot about her.. How is she doing?”

“She’s fine. I met her mom before I came on patrol with my comrades. She’s doing her chores because of some accident she caused.. She told me she ran into the side of the house..”

“And was it raining at the moment of the accident?”

“Yeah why?”

“Oh nothing I just thought her car might have slipped into her house.”

“That's what I thought. But her parents are mad, I tried to explain..”

“Don’t worry they have their reasons.”

“Oh look we’re here.”

Hitting the breaks, we came into an immediate stop in front of aGetting out of the airport Grandpa stood outside holding an umbrella with his jeep behind him.

“Where would you like to go Sophie?” Grandpa asked. “Dinner at Tull’s Place or head home and have your grandma’s famous hot wings?”

“How about going home?” I said “I haven't been there in a while.. I’ve forgotten how it looks.”

“That sound great sweety.” Grandma said getting under the umbrella and jumping on to the other side of the drivers seat.  “Hurry up before hail starts falling on us.”

Pulling the drivers seat up, I got on the back seat. Pushing the seat back up, Grandpa got on and shifted to drive.

“So what are you planning to do tomorrow?”

“I would like to go visit Lilly. I haven’t seen her in a while and I’d like to know more about the school I’m going to next week. If it’s alright with you, Grandma?”

“That’s sounds nice dear..”

“I know you don’t like her but she’s was my friend since I was two years old. Mom told me that and she trusted her and her family. I trust her too Grandma please!”

“You can go.” Grandpa said “I trust your moms instincts and Lilly is a great girl. I remember she helped me remove all the dirty water in the pool and help your grandmother’s roses grow strong and beautiful.”

“Yeah she’s talented alright. Thanks grandpa.”

“Alright Sophie but I want you home before dinner I want to take you out to meet the principle of the school. She will like to introduce you to the academic standards and give you your list of classes you’ll be taking.”

“Alright grandma.”

“Almost there…” Grandpa said.

“The outside of the house looks the same as when you came but theres a few changes inside the house. I had the room near the kitchen remodeled into your room. I hope you like it.”

“Thank you Grandma.”

3: Chapter 2
Chapter 2

Getting out of the car, I breathed in the fresh air of Colorado. Looking around I saw the same little brown house as when I visited for christmas. The only difference are the trees that have grown to be like a building.

“What do you think Sophie?”

“The trees have grown, the house is the same and you’ve put white and red roses to make the house more elegant.”

“You can still see the flowers?” Grandma said looking back at me surprised.

“Why does it surprise you? I’ve always been able to do that.”

“I know granddaughter, your grandmother is just a wonderer. She remembers one thing but forgets the other.”

“Sophie, where is Hydra?” Grandma asked as she got in the house, following her inside and into the kitchen.

“She should be here any minute now.”

“Be here?!” Grandpa asked. “Isn’t she a stuffed animal?”

A thump came from the backyard and everything in the kitchen shook.

“Oh here she is,” Running to the back door, Hydra was standing near the apple tree eating them one by one. “You took the wrong plane, right Hydra?”

Nodding with sadness and 12 apples in her mouth, Hydra bent down to get petted. Scratching behind on the bottom of her chin, Sophie looked back to both her grandparents shocked with the enormous serpent in their backyard.

“Wasn’t… Hydra… just your stuff animal?” Grandma stuttered.

“I thought so too until I was 13.” I explained. “Come on Hydra lets get inside.” Waving at her into the house, grandpa stopped her and looked at me.

“Hydra can’t fit in here Sophie, the door is too little for her.” Measuring both the door and Hydra.

“Yeah she can..” I said, “Now Hydra shrink into my arms.” Obeying, Hydra started glowing into a 2’3 serpent that crawled up in my arms. “See she can fit.” Walking back into the kitchen, grandpa stared in awe at Hydra’s new form. “What?”

“Oh nothing.” Grandpa said, but then began. “There are so many creatures; dragons, griffins, fairies and even demons. But I’ve never seen a Hydra.”

“I called her Hydra, Grandpa, even though she is one but at the time I only knew she was a sea serpent until she told me she wasn’t.” I explained as best as possible. “But not everyone has a animal as their pet.”

“They are not animals like dogs or cats, Sophie.” Grandma interrupted. “They are foul creatures that don’t need to exist. They are more like beasts that can’t be controlled.”

“Well grandma Hydra is my pet and she has feelings too.” I said calmly holding on to Hydra tightly to my chest. “Hydra saved me when I was all alone.”

“What do you mean?” Grandpa said, cutting off grandma from going into rage.

Sighing I looked up and began explaining about my hiking trip with Tyra and Sorrel, both friends from Washington.

____________________________________________________________________________

“Hey Tyra!” I screamed, “Wait for me!”

“Sorrel where are you?!” Tyra screamed over my voice. Walking even faster, I lost track of her, looking both ways for either Sorrel or Tyra to appear I found nothing. Going off to another path I began to search again.

“Sorrel!” I screamed again, suddenly falling down hill into the lake. Trying to swim out, something grabbed my leg and began dragging me deeper into the water. Running out of breathe, I heard Sorrel’s voice outside.

“Sophie!” He yelled, and looked back at Tyra. “Why did you leave her on her own?!”

“I…” She stammered,

Then something green, flew over their heads knocking them down to the ground. The creature dove into the water, snatching me out of the water and laying me on the ground. Sorrel came running up to me, holding me in his arms.

“Sophie are you ok?” Sorrel asked, "lets get out of here."

"It's ok," I told him as I got off his arms and walked towards the serpent. "Hello" I said as I got close to it.

I'm not an it, the serpent said, I am Hydra ur guardian

"It can talk?!" Sorrel yelled as he retreated back to Tyra.

"Her name is Hydra, and she is not an it." I said to Sorrel. "I am Sophie, Hydra and I'm guessing you are my toy that I've been carrying since a baby?"

"You cared for something like that?!" Tyra yelled from behind Sorrel.

"Yeah," I said revealing my secret. "I love creatures like her, they are all beautiful."

"I knew you were weird." Tyra yelled taking Sorrel from his hand.

4: Chapter 3
Chapter 3

“Sorrel let me help you see…”

“See what!” Tyra yelled, “Oh I get it you want to kill us and you having that monster help you.”

“No it’s not like that.” I yelled back tears streaming down my face. “I just want you to understand.”

“No that thing will eat us.” Tyra said, looking at me with horror. “Sorrel lets leave before that thing eats us.” pulling on his sleeve, Sorrel didn’t move.

Removing Tyra’s hand from his sleeve, he began walking towards me. Smiling I took his hand and looked up at Hydra nodding in return.

“That bitch is going to kill you!” Tyra yelled, as she cried.

“She has never been a bitch!” Sorrel yelled back.

“Hydra will take us back down the hill.” I said as I touched Sorrel’s arm. “Hydra will you please..” Leaning her head to her back Hydra helped Sorrel climb on her back. “Tyra lets go back down together.” Shaking her head, she backed away slowly going closer to the water. “Tyra please come back slowly,” Walking backwards a bit faster Tyra stinked. Jumping in after her, I grabbed on being pulled on by the currents.

______________________________________________________________________________

“That’s how I met Hydra,”  I told my grandparents, petting Hydra on the head. “and how she saved me.”

“But you fell back in the water.” Grandma said.

“She saved Tyra and me from the water demons.” I said, “What were their names again?”

Grindylows, Hydra thought to me.

“Did she just?” Grandma gasped in horror.

“Yeah grandma she just did…” I said, sighing as her grandmother started holding her cross closer. “She is not a demon grandmother. Hydra won’t harm you, so stop doing that.”

“What are Grindylows?” Grandpa asked, finding Hydra amusing.

Grindylows are water demons that drag children into the deep these demons are easily killed once you save the child.

“This is simply amazing.” Grandma began exaggerating. “Grindylows tried to kill my granddaughter and now I have a serpent the size of a two story building near her.”

“Grandmother if you don’t like it I’ll have her sleep in my room and go outside once daytime hits. We are near a forest right?”

“Yeah and there’s a river near here. 3 miles down that path” Grandpa pointed out to where the pine trees started. “Be very careful a lot of tourist go down that path, also I would like to advise you hydra to stay the size you are when entering the forest. The smaller the better.”

Thank you for you kind words Sophie’s grandfather. I will do what you say.

“Hydra it’s alright for you to call me grandpa as well.” He said with a smile. “You are part of the family.”

Si…

“Grandpa” he corrected her.

Grandpa?

“That’s it.” he said smiling back at her.

“Well until I can trust you.” Grandma said softening up. “You call me Niki.”

Yes ma’am Niki.

“Not so formal, just Niki.” Grandma scolded her.

Yes Niki.

7: Chapter 6
Chapter 6

Walking into my bedroom, Hydra looked around amazed how large it looked from the inside. Everything was changed, the small princess bed was replaced by a queen sized bed, the pink sheets and covers were now emerald green.

"I changed your room a bit." Grandpa said rubbing the back of his head. "Grandma took out all your dolls and gave them to the orphanage in town and had your sheets imported here from California since we couldn't find any here. I also asked Kyla to make your room bigger so that you'd have more room, she's a sorcerer and also works as an interior designer."

"To put the words simpler, she's the one who helped us out in choosing the furniture and the bed sheets to your liking." Grandma explained. "I hope you like it."

"Its amazing! I love it" I squealed as I hugged both my grandparents. "Thank You!"

"Well its getting late Sophie, remember I need you here by three pm to take you to meet the principle. Dress nicely… Kyla and Lilly picked some cloths for you so you are stocked in cloth. Good night." After that grandma left to the kitchen.

"Sweet Dreams Sophie." Grandpa said closing the door behind me.

Alone with Hyda, I walked to the door near my window. I wonder what this door is for, Opening the door, I saw that is lead into a walk-in-closet. Holy Mother of…. getting inside I looked from both sides dresses hanged on the left and blouses with jeans on the right. This is so much.. Turning back I went to my bag and took out my pjs.

Sophie aren't you going to use the new ones your grandma left for you?

"No Hydra, all of it is new and beautiful. It was a surprise to me but I miss home and these are the only ones that I have from there." I said, looking at the forest pattern in my pjs.

You really miss home that much? I nodded Then why didn't you tell me. You know I am here for you.

"I thought that if I talked to you it would make me feel depressed about moving. Keeping it in was the only chance to make moving easier."

Well you should know better than that. Remember what your mother told you.

"Yeah I know." I said getting in the bed and pulling the covers. "I just need time to adjust.. I just need to.."

Adjust.. I hope you do Sophie. I hope you do. Creeping into the covers Hydra curled up next to Sophie and drifted into sleep.

"She has arrived, Father."

"How do you know she is here?"

"I can sense my mate any where and she is here."

"Then go to her my boy and protect her with your life. Don't let her feel harm like you mother had."

"Don't worry father I won't"

Running from the ruined mansion, the boy spread his wings and flew into town following his heart to where Sophie laid fast asleep in her bed.

Waking up to the sun shining to my eyes, I slowly got up for bed and took out a blouse skirt from my luggage. This is going to be a long day…

(30 minutes later)

That was refreshing.. I thought as I got out of the shower drying my hair with the towel. What should I do now? Looking from the door to the kitchen I went to my room and saw Hydra still sleeping. Aww she's so cute. Suddenly pain hit me in the stomach with a loud grumble. I guess I should make breakfast first before I leave to town.

Going to the kitchen I opened the refrigerator to see a packed of bacon, eggs and sausages… I wonder where the pancake mix is at? Opening each cabinet in I finally found it.

Pouring two cups of pancake mix I then added the water and mixed both together, leaving the mix out. I took out a pan from under the oven and sprayed oil in the pan. Now to make breakfast.

(A few minutes later)

"What smells so delicious?" Grandpa said as he walked into the kitchen.

"I made breakfast, scrambled eggs, pancakes with sausage and bacon and hash browns on the side." I said with a plate of food in front of me. "I was hungry so I sat down first to eat. I'm going into town to meet with Lilly in a few so I'll leave Hydra here with grandma and you."

"Alright Sophie just remember your promise with grandma for this afternoon." Grandpa said

"I know." I said as I got up from the table, leaving the dishes in the sink.

8: Chapter 7
Chapter 7

Locking the door behind me I looked around finding Lilly waiting in her mustang in front of the house.

"Took you long enough!" Lilly yelled from the drivers seat. "Come on, lets go do some shopping!"

Getting on the front seat of her car, I looked at her and saw that she had a big smile on her face.

"Please don't make that smile again, its so creepy." I said looking away from her.

"Doshite?!" she whined giving me the puppy dog eyes.

"It doesn't fit your style and knowing you there's something you've done in secret that you're hoping it goes well." I said looking back at her.

"What do you mean?" Lilly said looking away from me.

"In just hope it isn't one of those blind dates again." I huffed looking out the window. "So where are we heading to?"

"I was thinking about going to the mall and then see a movie at my place." Lilly said as she started the engine.

"How about we hit that coffee place for lunch and then go to the mall." I said. " I have to meet up with grandma back at the house for dinner to meet the principle."

"Alright but what do we do for the time being?" Lilly asked.

"I was thinking of calling Zach so that we can go to the lake together and hang out there." I said remembering my visit there with my family and friends.

"I don't think Zach could meet up with us.. He's too busy." Lilly said as the car began to feel gloomy.

"What happen this time?" I said, taking out my phone from my purse and messaging Zach.

Meet us by the lake near the ruined mansion.

- Sophie

P.S if you don't show up I'll hunt you down. -.-

"I just gave him my opinion on dating a girl at live far away, that's all." She said shrugging her shoulders. "I told him that girls usually take advantage of that."

"I guess it can be true but Lilly you know that if Zach like her then leave him be. Let him make his own mistakes and learn. And once he's down we'll be there for him like always." I explained, "Unless you've developed a crush on Zach and are getting jealous of his relationship not being you." raising an eyebrow at her.

"Nani!" Lilly yelled as she looked at me straight in the eye. "Me develop a crush on Zach? Oh please like that would ever happen." Still staring at her I looked in front.

"Shit!" I said grabbing the wheel and moving the car to the right lane. "Lilly eyes on the road this is the second time you've done this."

"Well shesh I thought we were doing fine." she pouted.

"So by fine you mean having your car on the opposite lane with cars coming towards us?" I said getting a bit frustrated.

"No…" she said. "I'm sorry Sophie."

"It's alright," I said looking a little bit guilty too. "I was distracting you and it was a huge mistake of mine."

"Sooo," Lilly said with a little blush creeping up her cheeks. "Is it that noticeable?"

Chapter 8

"Well in my view of things yes." I said calmly. "You would always get mad whenever one of the girls would confess their love for him. Then the next day you would fake the flu or ignore Zach for a whole day sometimes weeks."

"I just never got the chance to tell him how I feel." She whimpered. "Every time I've tried to tell him, he would either act so obnoxious or be with another girl."

"There are three options to shutting him up." I sighed, "you can try the romantic way and kiss him, the aggressive way by slapping him, or the horror method by just giving him the glare."

"How do u know those work?" She asked.

"Trust me I've tried these before and it has worked my whole life." I said.

"Would you care to explain this?" Lilly said flashing the right signal and turning into the dirt road.

"I've slapped my uncle when he was too drunk and started to say bad comment to my cousin" I explained. "The second was to shut Zach up from commenting on ur new look."

"You slapped Zach?!" Lilly interrupted.

"Nope I just gave the death glare so that he wouldn't say anything." I explained. "So can I continue?" She nodded in approval. "The romantic method... I haven't tried but I've seen it done in movies."

"And it's worked?" She asked.

"Yeah it has cuz in movies all the guys end up speechless at the end." I said. "How about tomorrow we make plans and watch a romantic movie?"

"Well I'm going to have to ask my parents about the movie?" She began. "They didn't take the accident very well so they grounded me."

"Yeah I know." I said, "Zach told me at the airport and I would understand why your parents would ground you though. You're a mermaid Lilly and you should be careful."

"Yeah but.." She said.

"No buts." I interrupted. "You know how dangerous it was for u to be outside in the rain."

"I know I could have been spotted and taken for examinations." She said quoting herself.

"That's one of the reason but what I'm worried is that you could have gotten yourself killed." I said slapping the back of her head. "Do you think it would have been nice for me to move here expecting another funeral for my best friend?"

"..."

(20 Minutes Later)

"Sophie?!" Lilly said

"What?" I moaned trying to snuggle back onto the chair.

"Wake up we're here. Did you bring your swimsuit?" She asked.

"I didn't but I can use this to go in." I said pointing at what I was wearing. " Or we can go skinny dipping with Zach, you choose."

"You invited Zach?!" She screeched, making the birds fly out of their trees.

"So is it dressed or skinny dipping?" I said ignoring her horrible comment.

"Dressed… oh and I have another swimsuit in the back." She said popping the back trunk open. "Here." she tossed it at me as I started stripping down."

Chapter 9

"Hey Sophie, what's up?" Zach said coming from behind me.

"Freeze!" I yelled as my wings spread around my body. "Don't move an inch towards me."

"Alright!" Zach said ignoring Lilly's presence.

Hurrying I put the bikini on and retreated my wing back. Looking at both Zach and Lilly's five feet of distance I summoned a little bit of wing to knock them both together. Seeing that it made both of them blush I crept slowly away from them and near the lake.

"Ali in tattoo" I whispered making my wings sink into my back taking the form of a tattoo. Then running into the water and deep into the lake.

(Lilly's POV)

Getting up from on top of Zach, I looked to where Sophie was noticing that she escaped into the lake. Oh Sophie now this means war. I ran towards the lake, jumping into the deep end towards the white haired girl.

What the hell Sophie?!

I thought it sort out the problem but I guess not. She replied then looking behind me. Another thing have you told Zach about your special ability yet?

No, why?

Because he' s right behind you… About to freak out from the looks of it. She said pointing at the wide eyed Zach.

(Zach's POV)

What the hell just happened? One minute I was inches away from kissing Lilly and the other I see that she is also another person with special abilities. Sophie and Lilly have a lot of explaining to do.

Swimming up toward the lake's shore, I looked behind seeing that both girls were right behind me.

"Zach let me explain." Lilly said rushing up towards me.

"Right now I'm not in the mood to talk to you." I said feeling betrayed and disappointment for her. "Sophie why didn't you tell me about her condition?"

"In my situation I would have told you about Lilly but she had me promise about not telling you until she was ready." Sophie explained. "I called you out here so that both Lilly and you can make up from the fight you both had and so that she can tell u about her secret too. So technically I did tell you but without saying words."

Rubbing my head, I looked from both Sophie to Lilly. Now I have to watch out for both these girl. I thought I only had one to look after.

"Who's even asking you to look out for us?!" Lilly said laying on the grass with her tail behind her.

"You're reading my mind?!" I yelled. "That low Lilly even for you!"

Chapter 10

(Zach POV)

"You idiot!" Sophie yelled, Oh shit here it comes! walking towards me at full speed she pulls my ear to her mouth. "YOU KNOW BETTER THAN THIS ZACH FULLSTONE! THIS IS NO WAY TO TREAT YOUR FRIENDS ESPECIALLY IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE REASON FOR THEIR MISTAKES! SO YOU BETTER SIT DOWN AND LISTEN!"

"Yes Ma'am" I yelled back, sitting down on the grass.

"Now you!" Sophie pointed at Lilly. "Sit your ass next to Zach and start your explaining. I've had enough with keeping secrets from Zach. So you better spill everything you haven't told Zach."

"But do I tell him about that too?" Lilly asked.

"No that stays between us until you have the guts to say it." Sophie said rubbing her temples.

"Don't tell me what?" I said looking from Lilly to Sophie.

"Something only Lilly can tell you." Sophie said lying down on the grass.

"Sophie!" I yelled at her, "Sophie please! Don't leave me here alone."

"You've lost her." Lilly whispered. "Once she's asleep you can't wake her up."

"Alright then,' I said getting up and walking to my car. When suddenly I found myself walking back to Lilly and Sophie. "What just.."

"Sophie's force field." Lilly said as she got up and flicked Sophie on her forehead. "Her force field has the ability to return the person inside the force field back to where they came from. The same goes on the outside."

"So that means we're stuck in here till' she wakes up." I asked.

"Nope," a ghost like Sophie appeared above her body. "This is until both of you tell everything you've both kept from each other."

Looking thru my pockets I found a mini sharpie from work. "How about it?" I looked at Lilly as she slapped her face and walk 10 feet away from me. "Suit yourself, I'm going to enjoy this." As I took off the cap I began to scribble in a I heart Zach on her face, making it suddenly disappear and form an electric cloud above my head. "What is this?" I asked Lilly point at the thing above me.

"A thunder cloud." Lilly said

"Thunder?!" running around thunder started to go off hitting my shoes and my back. "Ok! Ok!" I yelled out to Sophie. "I won't do it again." Making the cloud vanish and the sharpie mark to return to its original spot.

(Lilly's POV)

"Did you have fun?" I said looking at the exhausted Zach lying on the grass. "For a human you're pretty tough to handle that many electrical shots to your back."

"How many shots did I get?" Zach asked.

"About five not counting the shoes." I said as he sat up and looked at me straight in the eyes. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because I thought you'd freak if I told you my secret. I didn't want to risk our friendship because of what I am." I said, crying out. "I didn't want you to hate me or to shut me out. I was scared and I still am."

"But you knew that Sophie had told me her secret, that shouldn't have changed your opinion of telling me." Zach said taking me into a big embrace. "I have known you since we were six years old and you personality hasn't changed till now. You are still yourself no matter if you're a mermaid or not."

"I should have told you instead of being locked up by Sophie." I said still crying. "And I still need to tell you more." Looking up at him locking eye contact. "Can I show you?" I said pointing to his head.

"As long as it doesn't hurt." Zach said, stepping out of his warm embrace I took all my memories of half my life and my encounter with his girlfriend.

"Please forgive me." I said as I placed the palm of my hand to his head.
