False Promise

When poets sing of love, they play the fool
When dreamers speak of love, they are liars
So shall lustful poet's passion's flames cool
And can quickly become burned out fires
The glowing embers may now hold beauty
But just wait upon a later hour
And it shall be no wonder then to see
That beauty can die in any flower
A lie from a silver-tipped tongue
May seem unjustly tainted with a kiss
For what leaves your lip cannot be unsung
And words of deceit hang on false promise
The past is not past until love is dead
And emotion plays no tricks with our head

2: Nothing Thus
Nothing Thus

I have often wondered many a thing
From why the ground must turn to icy slate
To why the sweetest lark will no longer sing
On this cold cursed night of darkly fate
"Winter has come," sighs the cool midnight breeze
And with it, it brings the promise of frost
To capture hearts in an annual freeze
How my heart aches for what summer has lost
The crowds shuffle through the cold winter snow
Heads down, blind to the cold that surrounds us
It is best not to see, best not to know
For with this knowledge we gain nothing thus
Oh winter, leave your jealousy to die
Oh summer, retract you sorrow's good-bye

3: Stay True
Stay True

Mors ultima linea rerum est (Latin: Death is the end of all things)
Which time in the past has shown to be true
But I think we could put it to the test
With all the things I am feeling for you
Each word from your lips is a melody
So beautiful my ears bleed at the sound
And yet no one is quite as deaf as me
Atleast no one that is yet to be found
Your smile and your face are unique
In their crooked and uneven beauty
Such a face no mere mortal would dare seek
Such a shame I am too blind then to see
I am not must so my words can reach you
And my promise, through death I will stay true

4: My Own Rhyme
My Own Rhyme

Perhaps I have wandered for far too long
I may have strayed away from my own path
I followed you, without knowing the wrong
And now I must reap my lonely fate's wrath
I should have been searching for my own way
Now you are lost and I cannot be found
Yet there is so much I never would say
For path or not, to myself I am bound
Though I travel lost, I am my own mind
Strong and determined to get back on track
Desperately seeking what I cannot find
All that I am missing, all that I lack
My path can fade, hidden away by time
But I will go 'til I find my own rhyme

5: Destiny's Unwind
Destiny's Unwind

Out as far as the naked eye can see
There is no forlorn land just ocean blue
And though the heavens may look down at me
Amphitrite, I will always be true
The sea, the sea she calls out to my heart
She knows the song that will pull at my soul
The sea, she knows I could never dare part
Or wretched despair would consume my whole
My mistress, my mistress she calls me now
I can hear her words ring inside my mind
There out on my love's ship's fate-cursed bough
She calls me forth for destiny's unwind
For I am bound to the ship I command
That the sea bids claim with an outstretched hand

6: Which Escapes Your Sight
Which Escapes Your Sight

I am so tired of fighting with you
It is just a waste of breath on my part
It is an idea I cannot get through
Without a mallet to your stubborn heart
If it is not plain, simple black-and-white
I might as well be talking to a wall
Yet here we are again in a new fight
Battling to make the other feel small
With how cruelly we tear at each other
One would suspect our quarrels had reason
And yet they are just attempts to smother
The anger of an unresolved treason
Who is in the wrong, who was in the right
Is stuck in the grey which escapes your sight

7: Make Life Your Own
Make Life Your Own

It is your birthday and happy day
You have gotten another year older
Something I am very pleased to say
They say as you age you do grow bolder
Let us hope that it is in a good way
And that wisdom does not make you colder
But not that you are and not that you may
You are strong and can be your own molder
So time must now sit back, watch, hope and prat
Like Mona Lisa, time cannot hope to hold her
But only hope that she will always stay
Neither time nor place can be your molder
For it is your birthday and you are grown
Now time must let you make life your own

8: To All I Would Say
To All I Would Say

I have lost my faith in action
I have lost all hope for the world I know
Trapped am I, by empty attraction
Cursed am I, to wander to and fro
Emotion is vague, hollowed by time
Words are empty, they fade from overuse
Love is not love, not emotion but mime
Hatred is little more than excuse
Those who live say that they love, but love not
For love is vague and remains undefined
What does exist in love's place can be bought
Yet I would sell it for a truer kind
But if such a kind did exist today
"I have faith and hope" to all I would say

9: Live Your Dreams and No Less
Live Your Dreams and No Less

Shall I sing out in joy or cry in pain?
Dance through the night or fall down to my knees?
Will you puddle jump or hide from the rain?
Build up a fire or let yourself freeze?
Sing say you, jump say I for life is short
And time is wasted when spent in sorrow
So live and be merry, play and make sport
Gather new friends wherever you may go
You should heed my words and take my advice
For I know what a sad life sorrow makes
Like an anchor it weighs down men to mice
And leaves volumes of tears as big as lakes
Banish the anchor, embrace happiness
Find your passion, live your dreams and no less

10: Wait and See
Wait and See

Wake me up when all our minds look to grey
Because I do not talk in absolutes
And I do not care what those who do say
For they and fools are better off as mutes
Speak to me not in terms of black-and-white
Nor lecture me in terms of 'either...or..'
Nothing in life is either wrong or right
No one is pure or corrupt to their core
Life would be simple if this were the case
It would be easy to see and to act
And truth and morality could embrace
For emotion could not play into fact
But things are not this way, though they may be
What the future holds, you just wait and see
