Slayer: Dakk Tribal

Quiet night in Chicago, despite the cars screeching, people yelling at said cars, and police sirens blaring.  Yeah, it was a pretty quiet night in Dakk Tribal's mind as he stood on the roof of a building a good six or seven blocks from Willis Tower.  The large structure dwarfed him and he felt like he was looking at God's finger whenever he looked at it.  Such an imposing building.
"Almost like it could reach Heaven itself," Dakk said with a small smile.
His little piece of heaven was gone when he heard the familiar beeping coming from his helmet.  Sighing in disappointment, but accepting the fact that he had to earn his paycheck, the Slayer reached for the helmet.  His most cherished piece of equipment, which had once belonged to his father, slipped onto his head smoothly and fit perfectly.  Thanks to the fact that it was small and light, after having it on for a while Dakk never noticed he was wearing it at times.  The radio in the helmet came to life, and Zeig's voice came on the line, "Dakk Tribal."
Dakk closed the electric T-shaped visor on his helmet, black on the outside but he could see clearly from inside, and replied, "Yeah, I'm here."
Ready for some action?"
Dakk nodded, knowing well that Zeig couldn't see him do it, "Sure, I'm just praying that its more than a few Shadows got loose from their Seal."
Zeig chuckled a little at his attempt at humor, "Your lucky day.  Police say that a fight broke out at a nightclub downtown."
"Say what?  That doesn't sound like something you'd normally assign me to."
"Don't worry, the perpetrators escaped into an alley.  Cops are following them but are now pinned down in that alley, thanks to a wall of black flame."
"Ah, Lucifer's Flame.  Flames summoned for little sacrifice, and can burn anything to ashes if touched.  There must have been an amateur summon if they couldn't control that."
"Exactly.  Two cops were wounded in the crossfire, but we’d like you to take care of that flame before it gets seen by a large crowd."
Dakk nodded again, "South...okay, I'll do it.  Dakk out."  And with that, the Slayer checked to make sure his sword was in its sheath on his left hip before he jumped down the from the roof to the ground and got onto his motorbike.
When he got there the police had the block surrounded and blocked off to traffic, which caused a bit of havoc for shoppers and passersby obviously.  Because of that, Dakk had trouble finding a place to get through.  And he also had another problem, even when he handled the situation with precision, he also had to worry about getting away as soon as it was over.  The cops are silent partners of the group Dakk fights for, but some might not take it seriously that what they were dealing with had demonic types.  Nah, I'm sure they'll believe that a guy dressed in black and violet combat attire and using a sword has come to slay monsters.  They'll give me a medal for it too.  Yeah right, Dakk thought, trying to lighten the situation a bit as he saw a police officer walking up to him.
It was a tall officer wearing a police hat, "Sir, I'm gonna ask you to turn around, there's a stand-off happening here."
Dakk put his hands up, "Well, Officer---" He took a quick glance at the name plate on the cop's shirt, "Wilson, I am the solution to the problem you have."
Wilson shook his head in near disbelief, "Really?  Just you?"
Dakk shook his head, playing around but also due to the fact that this was the fourth time in the last month he had to prove that he was not joking to the city law enforcement.  It gets annoying quite easily when lives are at stake and you almost have to share donuts with cops just to get clearance.  "I'm a member of special forces.  Here."  Dakk pulled out his wallet and showed a card with his picture, as well as a silver card with a cross imbedded in it, "Your chief should have told you about the Order sometime during your work in the police force, right?"
The cop nodded once, his look serious now, like a certain string had pulled in his mind.  "Okay Mr. Tribal, come with me."
Dakk got off his bike and followed the officer as he talked.
"Alright, earlier we had a high stakes game with some drug dealers and one of our undercover policemen let it slip.  It didn't take more than two seconds for the bullets to start flying and we chased them into that alley.  We had them cornered, but then they started a fire that turned black when ignited.   There's five of them, all armed with pistols and carrying a black case of some kind."
The two stopped next to a SWAT truck parked on a sidewalk.  Dakk put his hands on his hips, and took a quick glance around before turning back to the cop, "Anyone know what's in it?"
"We never got to look inside it before the shooting began."
Dakk nodded once and after zipping up the black vest he wore, he put his hand on the officer's shoulder, "Keep them occupied and I'll see what I can do."
As he started to walk away the officer nodded, "Anything else?"
Dakk stopped, "Yeah, make sure I can have a clean getaway."
Sneaking around to the back of the alley adjacent to the one the crooks were in, Dakk's idea began to play in his mind like clockwork.  Of course, the idea he had immediately went haywire when he noticed that there was a dead end instead of a T-shaped access alley.
"That's not fair," Dakk sighed once before looking up, and he immediately thought it wasn't going to be a bad night after all.

Wilson put the megaphone to his mouth, "Alright, listen up, we have you guys surrounded!  Surrender yourselves and no one will get hurt."
His order was met by a flurry of small arms fire from behind the black flame.  Wilson and everyone else fell back behind the SWAT van.  The SWAT team in from of him, which was hiding behind the two police cruisers for cover, fired back.  Their nine-millimeter sub-machine gun bullets hit the flame and fell to the ground, unable to penetrate it.
When the firing stopped Wilson looked back from behind his corner and was about to try again to warn them, but from beyond where he stood he hard someone shouting.  The words didn't sound like English, and nothing like Wilson had ever heard before.
Then, he heard a loud thump and in plain English he heard someone say, "Mind if I drop in guys?" and more shouting and some gunfire followed as the crooks were attacked by an assailant they were not expecting.

Dakk missed being shot by a pistol within a few seconds of landing.  He grabbed the gun and delivered a nasty straight right hand to the face, and got out of the way to avoid being attacked from behind.  Using the element of surprise to his advantage, Dakk charged at another man, driving his knee into the gut multiple times before driving the point of his elbow into the back of the man's head, knocking him out cold before he hit the ground.  Three of the other four tried tackling the slayer but only one seemed to touch him.  The other two went on into the brick wall behind Dakk, and when one turned around with a bloody nose the Slayer made the wound even worse by jumping up and driving his right knee into it.  The force behind the blow made a whiplash effect and he fell to the ground.
"Run for it James!"
"Hmm?"  Dakk looked towards the rear of the alley, and saw that the other man in black had put out the black flame surrounding the group and took off running with a black case in his arms.  "Hey--!"  He had started to run when the one who had called out to James' had jumped him from behind, wrapping his arm around his neck and squeezed as hard as he could.  Luckily for Dakk, the idiot riding piggyback wasn't strong enough to hold on for long, so he just dropped backwards.  The force of the drop, as well as Dakk's two hundred fifty-pound body squashing him, made the man let go in order to catch his breath.
Dakk got up from that, and saw that James had merely run across the street to the next block, the cops came up from their cover and immediately started to apprehend the downed crooks.

    "I got the runaway!"
Dakk took off running after James, and this was one of the times that Dakk was happy to have taken gym class seriously.  Running as fast as he could, he reached the fire escape stairs, and reached for the handle when shots were fired when the door opened a crack and the Slayer was forced to lunge to the side to avoid being bullet ridden.
"Spray and pray ain't just a gamer thing these days--"
A small explosion suddenly rocked the door and Dakk jumped away, "Okay, so no go there."  'He probably has that way either caved in or watching for me, better try something else.'  Dakk quickly looked around, even though he knew that if the guy went for the roof, cops would be all over the place before he reached the top, that or Dakk himself would get to him before too long.  But, even as a veteran Slayer of nearly ten years, Dakk had one constant thought in the back of his mind: if a person panicked and felt the need to use a Lucifer's Flame to protect himself, what would that same person do when he was cornered?  Personally, Dakk didn't want to wait to find out.

James reached the roof as soon as the sound of police sirens surrounded him from all sides, and he set the case down as he contemplated what he was going to do next.  "I'm not going to go to jail...But the object in the case was more than worth the risk to keep it."  And with the pistol in his hand, he was not going to let them take it unless it was over his dead body.

"Never thought of using the maitenance ladder to reach the roof," Dakk said aloud as he was starting to get to the last third of the ladder.  Not to be humorous, but Dakk thought the building had looked a great deal smaller when he had been on the ground.  Also, he could've done it the easy way, but that would've gained him a bit too much attention for a simple arrest.  "Oh well, almost there--"
A scream was heard, coming from the roof.
"Uh oh," and Dakk started to climb a lot faster. When he reached the top, Dakk expected to see a lot of carnage, but instead he founf just James.  Lying on the gravel roof with the case handle firmly in his hand, Dakk made his way over cautiously.  Kneeling over the fallen man, he expected a suicide since the gun was in his left hand and there was a single shell casing nearby.  But upon further examination, he realized there was no bullet wound anywhere, and after checking for vital signs to make sure of it, he was just unconcious.  "Unconcious, but from what?"  Dakk looked around, but saw no evidence to show that someone else had been up on the roof before him, and obviously no one had used the ladder to get down.  "Then there's the fact that the cops have the place completely surrounded, no one would have gotten past them if they were seen.  Putting that mystery to the side, Dakk went onto the next big one: what was in the box?
'Better not be a Pandora's Box, or something like that,' he joked half-heartedly.  But whatever it was could probably answer a few questions, like where James got the Flame, or more importantly who gave it to him.
Dakk quickly opened the case, and was both shocked and relieved when he saw the contents.

Zeig was waiting in the underground garage of the Order, and he didn't have to wait long.
Through the visor he wore over his eyes, he knew Dakk could feel his eyes on him as he drove on through.
"What did you find?"
'Always the superior officer, Zeig,'  "Don't worry, there was nothing in it."
Zeig crossed his arms over his chest, either not pleased at what he heard or wanting to hear more.
"As for the guys who were in possession of the case, they claim they never knew what was in it until their leader used the Flame, but even then they never got a good look."
"What about the leader?  He say anything."
"That's a surprising part, the guy is almost in a comatose state, doctors say it was a poison of some kind."
Zeig sighed, "A dead end, for now."
Dakk took his helmet off, "I'll keep an ear out for anything similar, if we're lucky, if the item was stolen, the same person might strike again."

2: Slayer on the Dance Floor
Slayer on the Dance Floor

Falling through glass and before finally landing hard on glass and concrete, Dakk felt as if he had broken something. But as he sat up and moved his body to check, he was kind of surprised at that he hadn't broken anything but the window. "That's gonna cost a pretty penny, won' be coming out of my piggy bank though." Looking around and trying to figure out where in the hell he was, Dakk saw a great many faces of people looking at him. Lots of colored lights were flashing as well as hard rock music (that he had a great familiarity with) being played loudly in the background. He suddenly knew where he was.

"Dammit...what a place to have to fight a ninja-"

A large hand grabbed him by the collar, and probably the biggest muscle man he had ever seen held him up, "who the hell are you?"

Dakk raised his hands, "I just drop in and you manhandle me? Your manager should be ashamed of himself-"

"Are you with the troupe?"

Dakk tilted his head, "Say what?"

"The troupe with the band here? For the act?"

Dakk was about to say some sort of quickly thought up lie, but he saw the woman stand up across the room.

Dakk then had an idea. "Well, uh, yeah. In fact-" He shoved the guy away just as the woman sent some kind of object flying at Dakk, "if you give me and my partner a wide berth it'd be greatly appreciated!"
The guy nodded, his breath taken away by the action and he started to shove the crowd back, whose attention was now on what was unfolding between the fighters. Dakk knew that if he tried to get the crowd out of the building the ninja would no doubt lose herself in the crowd, so he decided to keep the crowd inside and have his full attention on her. Even though his helmet had been greatly damaged by the ninja before, he still put it on to keep some form of secret in his identity.

He unsheathed his sword and held it in his right hand, "Now, I would ask for you to come quietly but you've answered that already. So I'll have to take you in the hard way."

The woman put her hands to her sides, and then ropes fell from but remained attached to her wrists, and attached at the end were what looked like knives. Dakk had heard of such weapons in books he had read. "Kunai whip chains..." The ropes of such weapons could be up to five to fifteen feet depending on the skill of the warrior that possessed them.

Dakk got into a battle stance, and the woman threw one arm up, and the chain came at her target with great speed. Dakk barely got out of the way as the rope snapped like a whip on the spot where he had been standing, and the other whip came down on top of him, or it would have if he had not rolled out of the way.

The crowd fell back farther, now with cell phone camera snapping pictures and videos rolling.
Dakk kept dodging as he tried his hardest to get closer to his opponent, but the whips were more than formidable for him.

This woman knows how to use those things, well, time for some low-brow skills.

There were many tables around the area, and Dakk jumped from one to the other to avoid the whips. Each time he jumped from a table a crash came soon after from a whip breaking it in half. He went in a half circle before he finally got close to the woman, and judging by her expression she was surprised.
Dakk went and jumped over her and swung his sword at her, but she ducked and swept his legs out from under him before trying to do a hard stomp on him with her foot. He rolled back behind her and she raised her left hand to whip his face in, quickly noticing her rope was cut on her left whip, which Dakk held in his hand. He was smirking under his helmet.

"That's one down, still wanna fight?"

His show of confidence didn't seem to affect his opponent, and she shot him a stare before shooting her right whip out of the back of her right hand.

Dakk expression turned to shock and he gasped, unable to avoid it he took the blow, putting his right hand up. The knife wrapped around his right wrist, and was very secured. Before he could even attempt to get the thing off he was pulled forward and stumbled over his own feet, dropping his sword and meeting a foot right in the sternum. The force of the blow sent him straight to the ground, the ninja's foot still on his chest. She stood over him, still pulling the chain upward to keep at least one of his hands in check.

And he was in a great deal of pain. the blood circulation to his hand was nearly cut off and he was starting to get dizzy. And in this predicament, even he didn't know if he could get out of it and save his own skin at the same time.

"You know, you got looks and skills, that's pretty good-"

"Stop chasing me."

"Huh?" The ninja's first words to him caught Dakk off guard.

"I don't want to hurt you anymore than I have to, so please, leave me alone!"

Dakk was able to get his sword back, which had been a few inches out of his reach before. He raised it up, not to hit her with it but to distract her, and it worked. Dropping it again he got to his feet and was able to wrap the ninja's right arm around her neck, "I can't. I have to know why you killed those men." She tried to struggle out of his grip, but Dakk felt physically strong enough to hold her until he was able to cuff her.

"I never killed anyone!"

While her hands were somewhat held, Dakk forgot about her feet. She was somehow able to use her left leg and lift it straight up and hit him square in the face with her shin. Stumbling back Dakk was then hurled over the woman's shoulders, much to his shock and awe, before falling onto his back again.

Back to square one...dammit! Dakk rolled out, letting the rope go, which had snapped itself in the struggle, and got back to his feet with sword in hand. "Alright then...so if you didn't kill them, who did and why?"

Dakk realized something was amiss. He saw the woman looking back at him, but the mask that had been covering the lower-half of her face was now gone, knocked off in the struggle between them. Even in the flickering lights, Dakk saw a young but beautiful face, Asian for sure, and silver lipsticks covering the lips. Remembering what he was supposed to be doing, he got himself back into it. At first she looked away from him, and then started running straight at him. Dakk raised his sword, but in the literal blink of an eye she had vanished, leaving black leaves or petals in the place where she had been.

He looked around, but he couldn't see anyone but the crowd, who all looked rather perplexed as to what was going on.

"I don't want you to get involved."

Hearing that voice from behind him, Dakk swung his left arm back and around him, but the ninja caught his arm and roughly twisted it around. He cried out in pain and tried to raise his right arm but his sword was kicked out of his hand. Then, the ninja jumped up and wrapped her legs around his head and tossed him back to the ground in an expertly executed head-scissors. She still had a hold of his left arm, which now twisted in a way that it was not meant to be. Her right knee was going into the side of his head while the other was lodged in his side. A very painful position he was in, one he was not sure he'd be able to get out of. And damn was it painful!

"What do you mean?! Not want me involved? Who is it you're after?"

"It's not me that's after them, its the other way around," she said before twisting his arm much farther than it was supposed to, effectively snapping his upper left arm in half.

Dakk cried out in pain, the loud music playing in the concert drowning out his scream.

The ninja gently lowered his arm to his side, and Dakk grabbed his shoulder with his only good arm.
The woman stepped over him and picked up her mask, which had fallen on the ground. From the corner of his eye Dakk saw her turn her gaze down at him, her face giving a painful expression, as if she was regretting what she had just done to him before putting her mask back on and walking away.

Dakk saw her leave and tried to get up, but his arm reminded him of his new situation. A few people from the crowd tried to assist him in getting to his feet, but only managed to get him to a knee.

"You alright?"

Dakk removed his helmet, which was somewhat difficult with one arm, but he managed to pull it off. Being a warrior, he tried to hide the fact that he was in excruciating pain by smiling, "Yeah...I will be..."

"That was awesome!"

Dakk shook his head in bewilderment at the fact that the crowd had witnessed a real fight and thought it had been part of a show, and pushed two buttons inside his helmet. The first was an SOS signal to Zeig, requesting assistance back to base. The second, and more importantly, was an electro-magnetic pulse signal that instantly knocked out and destroyed all electronic devices in the building, destroying any evidence of what had just happened.
