2: Chapter 1 : Invitation
Chapter 1 : Invitation

“Beep, beep, beep, beep,” my stupid alarm clock wailed.

I groaned and grabbed a pillow to cover my ears.

“Five more minutes,” I groaned out, slamming the alarm clock to snooze mode and went back to sleep.

…5 minutes later.

“…beep, beep, beep,” the annoying alarm clock wailed. Honestly I think this alarm clock hates me it always wakes me up in the morning (it’s supposed to though) when I don’t want to.

 I groaned loudly again.

I don’t want to go to school. Why can’t I just sleep here all day? I can pretend to be sick like I used to last year and not go to school but that would totally go against my new year resolu……..hmmmmm……………

“BEEP, BEEP, BEEP.”

“Oh shut up will you?” I groaned and slammed the alarm clock off.

I reluctantly sat up and leaned on left hand for support. I yawned loudly and rubbed my eyes with my left hand to wake me up.

I looked around my dark room and yawned again. Argh!! Why do I have to school? Can’t I just win lotto can get life over with.

I groggily got out of bed and stood up, carefully avoiding the dirty clothes littered on the floor. I turned on the light switch and opened up the window, which made my room very bright.

I groaned again. It’s so bright but if I don’t do this I’ll be tempted to go back to sleep.

I walked around my desktop computer to my closet and took out a pair of black socks, undergarments, a light blue top with white decorations and a black short. I then made my way to the toilet albeit groggily. I closed the door and turned on the quick shower. Warm water flowed through the showerhead.

“Ahh…. Nothing like a nice hot shower to wake me up in the morning,” I smiled.

After I finished showering I dried myself and got dressed. I slid open the mirror cabinet and took out my blue colour toothbrush and the Colgate toothpaste. I opened the lid of the toothpaste and squirted out the white coloured toothpaste onto the toothbrush and brushed my teeth.

Mint. I noted the taste of the toothpaste. I hate mint.

I rinsed my mouth and put back the toothbrush and toothpaste in the cupboard. After that I made my way back into my room and closed the door behind me. I sat on my chair and faced the mirror.

A pair of black eyes stared back at me. My brown hair were all bundled up because of the wetness, bags were still visible under my eyes that stood out despite my naturally tanned skin.

I grabbed a hairbrush and stared brushing my hair. While I was doing that I took out a hair dryer out of the drawers and plugged it in the power point that was next to the mirror. I switched on the hair dryer and dried my hair. I stopped when my hair was almost dry but still had a wetness feel to it.

I don’t know why I actually do that; it just became a habit of mine since I stared using a hair dryer.

Once I was satisfied with my hair I grabbed my black messenger bag and went downstairs to kitchen. The smell of bacon and toast lingered in the air.

“Morning sweetheart,” my mother greeted me with a smile.

“Morning,” I mumbled back.  I pulled out a chair and sat next to my older brother, Jason. I saw Jason tilt his head slightly as a greeting. We weren’t really that close but we didn’t have the typical brother-and-sister-always-arguing-relationship. We were quite distant to each other but nonetheless still acknowledged each other’s presence.

I grabbed a toasted bread that had marmalade jam spread on it and started munching on it. I didn’t really like eating too much in the morning.

“Be careful on going to school today Genna. There’s been a number of missing people recently,” my mother warned me.

“Ok,” I quickly dismissed her and stood up. I don’t really like talking to people too much, even if they are my parents. I always somehow put a distance between me and other people.

I passed through the living room. The TV was turned on and the news was on. I didn’t pay any attention to the TV that much and passed but stopped when I heard the news that was currently being announced by a well dress middle aged brunette woman. “17 year old, Gabriel Hanson has been reportedly missing for the past 3 days.” They then showed a picture of a grinning brown haired teen that I suppose was the person missing. “This is the 7th person that had gone missing this week. If you know where he is….”

I didn’t bother paying any more attention since it didn’t concern me and walked off.

I stopped in front of the door next to the shoe rack. I bent down to grab my black shoes and put them on.

“I’m going,” I yelled, opening the door.

I heard a muffled, “Be careful, Honey,” before closing the door.

I started walking to school, which was only three blocks away from my house.

As I got nearer to the school more and more teenagers passed me by. I looked around looking to see if I know any of them but alas I wasn’t really good at remembering people’s names nor can I be bothered.

I then choose to ignore them and stared ahead. By the time I was at the entrance of the school the bell finally rang. I didn’t bother stopping at my locker and went straight to English class.

I entered the classroom, which was already filled with students that were all sitting at their situated seats. I went to the far end and sat next to the window.

“Yo, Genna. Still not a morning person I see,” my friend Zoe greeted me, grinning. Zoe had a tanned skin and blond hair that was tied up into a bun. She was wearing a short green dress and a high-hilled cream coloured dress.

I grinned back.

“I slept really late again last night,” I drawled out.

“You should seriously go to bed early,” Leslie remarked, turning around from her chair to face me. “I always tell you that but you never listen. So poor me always have to listen to you whine about how tired you are.”

I laughed.

“Where’s Rosaline?” I said, changing the subject.

“Miss late as always,” Leslie replied dryly.

The teacher started going to the class role before it was interrupted by a knock on the door. The door then opened, which released the ever so late Rosaline.

“See. What did I tell you,” Leslie smirked. Leslie was the second smallest in our small group with me being the shortest. She has a long chestnut coloured curly hair that went all the way down her back and pale skin that she wants to tan so much. She was wearing a plain skinny jean with a grey shirt that had intricately coloured design.

I watched Rosaline apologies to the teacher before sitting herself next to Leslie. Mr Dunkin then continued to take the role. I lazy raised my hands up when he called my name.

“Okay class, take out your laptop and work on your feature article. Remember this is due next week,” Mr Dunkin announced.

At this I went through my bag and took out a white macbook and placed it on the desk. I heard Leslie and Rosaline talk not so quietly before turning my attention to Zoe who sat next to me.

I grinned mischievously at her.

“So… How was your night last night? Did anything interesting like for example… talking to a certain lover boy,” I teased.

I saw a light blush form on her tanned cheek.

This seemed to get my two other friend’s attention and turned to face us. They both grinned teasingly at our blond friend and started teasing her in my place.

“Ooh! Anything juicy happened last night,” Rosaline asked. Rosaline was the tallest in our group, which is something I’m so jealous about. She was wearing a red shirt that said ‘I’m the loudest friend’, which was ironically true. She was tanned and her hair style was similar to Leslie with it being curly as well but her’s was shorter.

Leslie laughed.

While this was happening I opened up a file named ‘Article’ and it opened up in word document.

‘Gaming Addiction’, was written in big bold letters. I was writing my article about the affects of gaming addiction to people, which was very ironic considering Zoe and her so called ‘Lover boy’ met in an online game and somehow actually ended up going out with each other. Well they were sort of. They’ve never really met in real life but they’ve only seen each other’s pictures through facebook.

“Shut up!” Zoe quietly yelled playfully.

I grinned at her. While all in all I’m happy for her but I am a bit worried about their relationship because the so-called lover boy whose name is Blake lives quite far away from us.

I noticed Leslie frown. I knew she didn’t really like the idea of Zoe going out with a person she’s never met.

I turned my attention back to Zoe who was rambling about how sweet her boyfriend was, not noticing Leslie’s evident frown.

“…and he said that I was cute. He’s so different from the guy’s I’ve dated before,” she squealed.

I smirked. “What happened to the ‘I’m angry at him because he hasn’t been on in facebook for a week’.”

“He said he was busy with school work,” she replied back without missing a beat.

Before I was supposed to tease her again about her boyfriend, Leslie cut in.

“What if he’s cheating on you? You’ve never met him so you might not know his real personality.”

No one said anything.

I inwardly signed. They’re gonna have a go at each other again.

Zoe scowled at Leslie. “Because he’s not like that.”

“How do you know? You’ve never met him before. Did you know people online could make up a different personality? You never know, he might just be playing you,” Leslie countered dryly.

And there goes the bomb.

“You’re just jealous, Leslie,” Zoe sneered.

Rosaline and I made a silent argument on who would go between the two before it gets any bigger, through eye contact.
Zoe and Leslie glared at each other.

Before I was to say something, a classmate named Courtney called out my name.

I turned around to the said person.

She smiled at me.

“Hey. Have you watched Demon Hunt before?”

I nodded. “Yes.”

Demon hunt is currently a popular Internet streaming video series. What made it so popular is the weird way the protagonist is set up. Any character in the series can be the main protagonist because you can choose which character you want to watch in the game through their point of view. There are actually 5890 characters in the series but there’s a tally in the website that tallies up the most popular viewed character, making it easy for people to know which ones are worth watching.

The story line is also quite simple. The story is about people being kidnapped and taken to an unknown island for them to participatein survival game. The rules were simple, you just have to take other people’s badges or take the chips attached from the mutated animal’s neck that are roaming around the island and collect them to be able buy equipment and other stuff to raise their rate of survival. There were also other ways to earn credits in the game which included trading, bounty, etc. There are also some supernatural aspects in the story such as superpowers, mutated animals and so on. I guess it was likely put in the story line, so I’d be more interesting for people to watch.

“Good that means I don’t have to explain what it is to you.So… If you were in a kill or die situation would kill someone.”

I faked a smile. “Why not? If it means I get to live I don’t really care if I have to kill someone.”

Courtney seemed to be pleased with my comment and quickly started talking to her friends.

I turned back to my arguing friends.

I could still hear them talk about the popular site and something a about a game being developed based on the show.

“As expected from the number one sadist. I knew you were selfish enough to kill someone to save yourself,” Leslie drawled, grinning.

It seems they’ve cooled down a bit but I seemed to have made myself the target for teasing.

“Hmph! Like you won’t kill someone to save your self you hypocrite! For calling me a sadist, if we were put on a life or death situation I’d use you as a shield and leave you to die,” I joked around.

Leslie scowled. “Nice friend you are, using me as your shield. Hpmh! I’m not going to talk to you anymore you sadist, so you can talk to the hand,” she comically sniffed and turned her face away from me, placing her hand in front of my face.

I laughed at our antics.

“Nice idea, Genna. I’ll also use Leslie as my shield but don’t worry I’ll protect you cause you’re my best friend. If someone want to go a head they better be prepared because I’m not just gonna sit back let them,” Zoe laughed out.

Leslie faked cried even harder.

“Rosaline are you hearing this? Those two are having an evil alliance again,” Leslie cried to Rosaline.

Rosaline laughed.

“Don’t worry I won’t let you die. I’ll save you from those two,” she said with a serious face.

I chuckled dryly.

“I know I said I would kill to save myself but I might not be able to do it,” I wondered out loud. “Killing someone isn’t easy. You would have to have a strong mentality if you don’t wanna go crazy because of murder.”

“Yeah, I know. Saying is one thing but doing it is another,” Rosaline agreed and the smiled. “Anyway. No fighting today. We’re supposed to be having a sleep over at my house tonight and nothing wreaks a sleep over more than a fight,” she said, gesturing her two hands at Leslie and Zoe in a placating gesture.

Leslie frowned for a moment before turning without saying anything else to do her work.

“Seriously, what’s her problem?” Zoe quietly whispered to me.

“She’s just worried about you,” I whispered back.

Zoe continued to frown before smiling again and continued talking about Blake to me animatedly.

~~~0000000000~~~
I stared at the alarm clock that was in front of the room, 2 more minutes left and schools over. I impatiently started tapping the blue pen I was holding on the desk. I noticed Leslie’s sneaking glances towards me. It was probably because I was annoying her with the tapping sound.
1….
The sound of the bell rang through out the school. At last it was the end off the day.
I started packing up my books and pencil case, placing them inside my back.
“Ok class, remember there’s a tomorrow on linear equation. You may go,” Mr Mindel announced.
I stood up from my seat.
I heard Leslie groan.
“I don’t have to study. I’ve got piano lessons tonight,” she moaned.
Zoe and Rosaline who were sitting behind us stood up from their seat, waiting for Leslie to pack up.
“C’mon Lez, pack up already. Were always the last once out,” I complained, using her nickname, which I always do whenever I get annoyed at her for being slow.
“Yeah, Yeah. Hold your horses. There! All packed up. Let’s go,” she said after slowly packing up her thinks. I had a nagging feeling that she was doing this on purpose just to annoy me.
I glared at her. “Don’t be such a smart ass.”
I skipped out off the classroom just to stop at the entrance to wait for the slow pokes.
I turned around to face them and grinned. I was walking backwards.
“We’re going straight to your house or stop at the shopping centre?” I asked Rosaline.
“We’re going straight to my house besides we don’t have any money to spend so it’s kind off a waste of time to go to the shopping centre when we’re not gonna be able to buy anything.”
I pouted.
Zoe chuckled.
“We spent all our money last week,remember when we went to the movies?”
Leslie shook her head at me.
“Seriously how stupid can you be Genna?”
I playfully scowled at her.
“Hey! You can’t call me stupid when I got a higher mark than you in the last English assignment and we came in a draw on the science test on genetics,” I reprimanded.
Leslie and I have this friendly competition against each other on who would get a higher mark on an assignment or a test. The best part but sometimes the annoying part of this depending on whether you won or lost is that your allowed to an extent brag about it on the other person as long as they know where to draw out the line of bragging to just being an annoying smartass.
“Ok, ok,” she said raised her hands in a placating gesture.
I turned around and started walking normally. Zoe walked up to my side.
“Tonight’s going to so much fun. I’ve heaps of gossip to tell you. I’m so glad that your parents finally let go on a sleep over,” she exclaimed.
Trust Zoe to know every gossip in the school. Unlike Rosaline, Leslie and I who are in the same classes everyday, Zoe has a different elective subject as us. Therefore she uses that time to socialise with other people and of ‘course talk about the recent school gossip.
I smirked. “Yeah. You can’t imagine how much I annoyed my parents to let me sleep over.”
Zoe laughed.
We all kept taking about random stuff until we reached Rosaline’s house.
Rosalie opened the door of her two-storeyed house and entered with us behind her.
“Mum? I’m home and have my friends with me,” she shouted.
I winced, so loud as always.
Her mum appeared from the living room. She was wearing a long brown skirt and dark red shirt. She had a tanned skin, brown eyes and brown hair. Mrs Paula smiled.
“So nice to see you again Zoe, Leslie and even Genna’s here. This is you’re first time going to a sleep over isn’t?” she asked me.
“Yeah,” I timidly asked. I wasn’t really good at taking to parents. I don’t know why but whenever an adult would except from teachers, I would tense up and become awkward towards them.
Mrs Paula smiled at me.
“We’re going to my room if you need us,” Rosaline piped in, saving me from further conversation with her mum.
I waved goodbye to Mrs Paula and followed Rosaline with the others behind to her room.
We climbed up the stairs and went inside the second room to the right. The door a small sign written ‘Rosaline’ indicating that this was her room.
We entered her room noisily. I quickly made my way to her bed and sat on it.
I sighed.
Leslie noticed my sigh. “No need to be nervous it’s only us.”
“Woo this is going to be fun,” Zoe screamed.
For some reason I can help feel like I don’t want to be here right now. Sure they’re my friends, best friends even and I trust them very much, I just feel a bit uncomfortable sleeping at someone’s house. It felt like an unknown place for me. It didn’t have the familiar comforting feeling as my room. My safe haven. I would be lying if I said that I’m not excited at sleeping over a friend’s house. In fact I’ve always wanted to but it’s just that for some reason I don’t want to be here.
This isn’t actually my first time sleeping over but it is my first time sleeping over to a friend’s house. I actually used to sleep over my cousin’s place when I was younger. It was fun but I also remembered having trouble sleeping.
This was going to be a long night for me…
~~~0000000000~~~

It was already 11:50 pm. We were all sitting/ half lying down on Rosaline’s bed. We were already in our pyjamas. I was wearing a white pyjama with black rabbit prints. Rosaline was wearing a tiger stripped-patterned pyjama. Leslie

There were three different coloured sleeping bags placed on the floor. Zoe’s sleeping bag was coloured green; Leslie’s sleeping bag was purple and mine was sky blue coloured. They were our favourite colours.

Rosalie had her Mac book out and was going onto the ‘Demon Hunt’ site. This happened after Zoe had a major spaz about needing to watch the nest episode and threaten how she would kill Rosaline if she were to ever miss the next episode.

“Come on Rosalie. If I miss any good part, I will seriously make your life miserable,” Zoe threatened.

“Okay, okay. Calm your down. Threatening me won’t make the site load any faster.”

Leslie and I laughed at that comment.

“But hitting it till it does will,” Leslie joked around.

“Here, here,” I agreed, remembering a certain time when the computer I was using at school froze and stopped working. I asked Leslie help and ended up hitting the monitor out of sheer frustration but when she did smacked it the computer started working again, thus that little joke between us was born.

We laughed.

“There finished,” Rosaline announced. The monitor showed this black background website that had white and red writing. There was a title on the top underneath the logo that said ‘Miki_5609’. That was the screen name of the most watched character of the Demon Hunt. The character was strong and chaotic that was probably why he was so popular. His looks weren’t bad as well giving the lady fans something to look forward to.

Zoe squealed.

“Play the video. Play the video,” she bounced.

“Hey Zoe! Is it really ok for you to gawk at another guy when you already have a boyfriend? Gosh I didn’t peg you to be that type of girl,” I gasped dramatically.

All of a sudden there was a pillow smacked me in the face, which fell down on my lap. I narrowed my eyes at the smirking Zoe.

“I don’t know what’s so good about this show that has everyone watching it. It’s only about violence,” Leslie exclaimed.

“Tsk, tsk, tsk. That’s why it’s popular,” Zoe reasoned.

Rosaline rolled her eyes.

“Oh! It’s starting, it’s starting,” she squealed.

A video appeared on the screen. It showed a detailed 3D image of a guy that looked like he would still be in collage. He was running through the forest, gracefully weaving through the trees. He let out a maniacal laugh that sent shivers down my spine as he chased down a blond woman with a machete on his hand.

The woman smirked.

Then all of a sudden 4 men dressed in black leather clothing and each holding different weapons, emerged from the trees and surrounded the man.

The woman cackled at her success, though the cornered man showed no fear on his face but rather a bloodthirsty smirked.

“Ohh. What do we have here? I don’t really know what your so happy about? You and your group are just a pathetically bearing their fangs at a predator. Do you really think that your weak little group would be able to kill me?” The man said with a sardonic smile. His voice was low and husky that held bloodlust that was enough to make the 4 bulky men that were bigger than him when it came to body size, to flinch.

The woman frowned a little but then composed herself to smirk again. She placed her right hand on her hips and brought up her left hand to look at her nails, which I guess was her attempt to look nonchalant about the situation before looking back at the man with a condescending look.

“Hmph! Can’t you see you’re cornered? If there’s anyone who should be pathetic it should be you,” she spat. “Usually I’d be merciful towards my victims and would just take let them live but your head would get me enough credit to buy 2 Medic Hypo Nano Shots or if they increase the bounty of your head I might even be able to buy a Hyper Nano shot”

“Weaklings do tend to talk so much when their life is about to end,” he interrupted her.

The blond woman gave him an infuriated glare.

“Tsk! Get him,” she screamed.

The 4 burly men sniggered at the lone man. The burly man behind Miki let out a hoarse battle cry before lunging at Miki with a Swiss army knife in his hand and swung it with the intention to kill the lone man. His attempt was a failure when Miki quickly sidestepped away from the knife. This seemed to be some sort of signal because the moment Miki evaded the knife; the others started their own attack. An axe, knifes and fists were swung at the targeted person but were all met by air instead of flesh. Miki gracefully weaved him self from harm with a smirk on his face as if he was having fun.

The 4 burly men let out screamed out numerous curses at the man who simply weaved him self away from the weapons that were dangerous swung in the air.

Miki frowned disdainfully at his attackers.

“Weak,” he announced, before lowering his posture in a stance. Before I knew it he disappeared in an instant and charged at the 4 men in with an inhumane speed that would be impossible for an ordinary human to achieve and slashed his opponent’s neck open.

There he stood in the middle of 4 bodies that he just killed unscratched and looked at the blond woman.

The blond woman fell on the ground and quivered in fear. Her eyes were widened at the man who stood before her.

She tried to smile but only looked like she was about to pass out in any moment.

“H-hey… I … please don’t kill me,” she stuttered in fear.

The man just looked down coldly at her.

He smirked and then beheaded the woman in one quick slash. He placed his machete in the scabbard on his back.

He sighed and kneeled down at the woman’s body to search for her badge and took it out and placed it in his pocket. He did the same to the other fallen bodies.

I frowned at the rated M scene that just happened.

How much people watch this? I sure hope children don’t. It was completely gruesome even if it’s just a 3D animation series.

“Seriously? Why the hell would you watch this kind of show, Zoe?” Leslie asked, horrified at what she just saw.

I looked at Rosaline’s face that was in a frown.

“Oh come on! It’s not that bad. If I told you that Miki is one of the rare guys in the show that hasn’t raped anyone, would that make you feel better?”

Rosaline and Leslie stared at her in shock, while I kept my expression neutral.

Zoe looked at me.

“Genna?”

I looked away.

“Sorry I have to agree with them for once. As much as I like violent shows, there’s still a line I don’t want to cross, which this show just did and it hasn’t even been 5 minutes yet.”

Zoe scowled but before she got to saw something an ominous sounding music started playing on Rosaline’s laptop.

“What is it,” Leslie asked Rosaline.

I looked at the laptop screen.

There was a brand new window that appeared. It had a grey background with a creepy all black picture of a grim reaper on the right corner holding a scythe. The writings were in red that were in a similar font as the font used in the website of the Demon Hunt.

I read the content.

I squinted at the footnote, which were so tiny that I couldn’t read them.

“OH MY GOD,” Zoe squealed. “This is the rumoured game that they’re needing a beta for and I got picked.”

She made her way to the laptop only to be stopped by Rosaline and Leslie.

She scowled at them.

“What?”

“You seriously want to play a game like that?” Leslie asked.

“Hey its not that bad. You play Left for Dead right? The game shouldn’t be any different from that.”

“But…”

Rosaline sighed.

“Let’s just leave it Lez. I don’t want a fight to start again,” Rosaline resigned.

Leslie just looked at Rosaline as if she just grew a new head while Zoe made her way to the laptop and started filling out the form.

I watched Zoe fill out the form.

She clicked on the yes box for the first question and then typed in 4 in the number of players.

I blinked.

“What? Don’t tell me your going to put down our email as well?” I exclaimed loudly, which caught Rosaline and Leslie’s attention.

“What?” Both Rosaline and Leslie screeched.

Zoe glared at me.

She stood up and began to run around the room to avoid Rosaline and Leslie while I just stood their shaking my head at their childishness.

“I don’t wanna play that game,” Rosaline yelled.

“Me too,” Leslie agreed.

Zoe sniggered before loudly tapping a key.

“It’s done. I entered in your gmail accounts,” she announced and then placed the laptop on the table.

Both Rosaline and Leslie glared at Zoe.

I sighed.

“We don’t have to play the game if we don’t want to besides its not like everyone who signs up for it gets to get a beta account. They would probably have a draw,” I said, trying to calm everyone down.

Before Rosaline or Leslie could reply, Mrs Paula knocked on the door and came in.

Mrs Paula smiled.

“It’s time to sleep girls. You still have school tomorrow,” she said, before closing the door and leaving.

This seemed to calm everyone down.

“Like what Genna said. You don’t have to freak out about it. If you don’t want to play it then don’t.

Leslie and Rosaline both muttered, “Fine”.

Zoe winked at me in triumph.

I turned the lights off since I was the closest to the switch.

Zoe, Leslie and I slipped in our sleeping bag, while Rosaline lay down on her bed.

“I hate you so,” I heard Leslie mutter.

“I love you too,” Zoe replied.

“Good night,” Rosaline said, tossing around her bed.

“Night,” I muttered quietly.

I stared up at the unfamiliar ceiling for a while before closing my eyes and falling asleep.

~~~0000000000~~~
“wake her up”, I heard a very mumbled voice.
“No! You do it. She might punch me,” whined another voice.
“I’ll do it if you guys don’t want to,” someone said.
I felt someone poke my side.
I groaned.
The poking became worse.
I slowly opened my eyes and saw Zoe’s face.
“Ah! A monster came to eat me,” I drawled, mild surprise clear in my voice.
“Wake up,” she yelled at me, slapping my side.
I groaned again.
“Have I ever told you how much I hate you,” I muttered, sitting up and rubbing my eyes to get rid of the grogginess.
“I love you too,” she replied.
I looked at everyone’s ridicules bed heads.
I chuckled.
“Aren’t you guys a charmer.”
“What about you?” Rosaline questioned.
I smirked.
“What about me,” I taunted. I noticed my hair in the mirror. It wasn’t messy compared to my other three friend’s hair. My brown hair was wavy and had volume. It didn’t look like I just woken up and haven’t brushed it. It actually looked better than when I actually brush my hair.I betcha that no one would notice that I didn’t even brush my hair even if I went to school without brushing it.
“You… Argh! How come your hair doesn’t look as messy as ours? Its so unfair,” Zoe whined.
This made me smirk again.
“It’s because I’m awesome,” I announced.
“But seriously how are you able to keep your hair neat in the morning,” Leslie questioned.
“I don’t know,” I shrugged. “Anyway we have to get a move on or else we’ll be late for school,” I said, trying to change the subject.
I heard them groan.
I stood up and started packing up my sleeping bag and grabbed the bag that my mother dropped off last night.
“I’ll go first,” I announced before leaving the room and going to the toilet, which was on the far left side of the hallway. Not bothering to look back.
I then closed the door to get my own privacy.
I sighed.
I kept waking up last night due to my discomfort. Zoe’s light snoring also didn’t help me go back to sleep.
I placed the bag on the counter and opened it.
Inside it was a mini Colgate toothpaste, a toothbrush, clothing and a brush. I took out the toothpaste and the toothbrush and brushed my teeth first. After that I took out the clothes that my mother dropped off.
I took outapurple underwear and matching a bra, which I put on. A white long sleeved buttoned up shirt, a plain black sweatshirt, which I put on top of the shirt. I then rolled up the sleeves of the sweatshirt together with the sleeves of the shirt up so they were just bellow elbow length. I then took out a dark green coloured shorts and a silver belt that I put on. My mum also packed up a pair of thigh high black and white stripped socks that I put on.
I looked at my self in the mirror.
Not bad.
I took out the brush and lightly brushed my hair. After I was done I packed up all the dirty clothes inside the bag and went back inside Rosaline’s room to get my shoes.
I heard a soft whistle and looked at Zoe.
“Nice!” Zoe approved.
I smiled.
One by one my friends got dressed. By the time we went downstairs Zoe, Leslie and Rosaline were dressed in their own preferred style and I was also now wearing my black shoes.
We had a light breakfast and I still lightly stiffenedwhenever Mrs Paula or Rosaline’s dad who’s name I can never remember would talk to me.
I held back a sigh when we got out off the house to go to school.
I yawned.
“You look like your still sleepy,” Rosaline commented.
“I a     ,”I didn’t get to finish what I was about to say because all of a sudden a black van skidded to a stop in front of us and people dressed in all black suddenly got out of the car and placed a chloroformed coated handkerchief on our face.
I struggled and tried to scream for help but the capturer was too strong and I was going drowsy from the chemical.
The last thing I saw before passing out were my friends who were struggling to escape like me…
~~~0000000000~~~

Warm…

The pillow was so warm so I snuggled in some more. I frowned a bit because despite its warmth it was very hard.

“…wake…”

“….up”

Hmmm…. Pillows can’t talk, can they?

“Wake up,” I heard a man’s voice yell.

My eyes snapped open and met a chest. I brought up my hands and patted the chest.

Flat.

They were flat.

I heard a grumble and felt a soft vibration.

“Are you done?” a husky voice questioned.

I shoved the man away from me and flung my self on the opposite direction and ended up falling on my but.

I pointed my shaking hands at the man and looked really horrified.

“Y-y-you pervert! Are you the one who kidnapped my friend,” I stammered.

The man let out a sheepish smile and placed his hands up in a placating gesture.

“Easy there. And no I didn’t kidnap you. We’re actually in the same predicament here you know. You were all ready cuddling me when I woke up,” he said.

“C-cuddled? Me?” I stuttered. I stared at the man. He had brown hair and blue eyes. He was fairly handsome and had a friendly smile but for some reason I can’t help but feel like I’ve seen some where before though I couldn’t remember where.

My eyes widened.

“You’re that 17 year old guy that’s been missing,” I exclaimed and went through my memory line to figure out his name.  I started clicking my finger, a habit I do whenever I try to remember something I couldn’t remember. “Ga-Gab-Gabriel! That’s it. That’s you isn’t it?”

His eyes widened.

“How? How do you”

“You were in the news. You’ve been missing for a couple of days now,” I exclaimed.

I started looking around franticly to see where I was. The place was packed with people. The place was a bit dark and looked like a huge warehouse. I then noticed that there was a huge TV screen at the far left end.

“Where are we,” I muttered.

“I don’t know.”

I looked back to him and noticed that his expression had changed from being relaxed to grim looking.

I started shaking.

“My friends… since I’m here does that mean they’re here as well,” I muttered.

“Why are we here?”

He looked at me with a resigned expression.

“I”

A static sound rung in the air interrupted him. Gabriel and I looked around to find the source of this noise.

I felt him tug my sweatshirt. I looked at him and saw that he was pointing at the large TV screen.

The TV screen was now turned on. A black silhouette of a man appeared on a grey background on the TV.

“WELCOME PLAYERS TO THE DEMON HUNT,” a low booming voice announced.

To be continued….
